DO NOT COME HERE! My grandma got her Stromboli when the rest of my family was finished with their meals. The sassy waitress didn't even apologize just "I didn't want to serve it cold, it takes longer than the others". Even so, who does that? Maybe put in the Stromboli first or maybe not even have it on the menu. Having a meal come out 20 minutes after everything else is so unprofessional and then not to have a manager come and apologize or comp any of our food? We will not be back. read more

This pizza is extremely hard to eat on a paper plate, in a train station, or on a train, which makes it an odd choice for Grand Central. I can't enjoy a slice without it getting everywhere. That said, the FOUR CHEESE pie with a few sides of marinara (the offered side of sauce size is pitiful compared to the big slice, get two) for dipping? Devine. Try that! read more

I've never seen a housefly and a fruit fly anywhere together until my wife and I went to Prova Pizzabar at Grand Central on National Pizza with Everything (Except Anchovies) Day. Make that couples. Sure, the Pizza Margherita was huge and rectangular and tastes just like any other (wait, the $2-a-slice on 32nd Street actually tastes better!), the Meatballs threesome was filling, and the selection of alcoholic drinks quite extensive (so are those at other gastropubs), but the lights could use a little dimming. (Wait, maybe this is their way of warding off the flies? Needless to say, it doesn't work.) We surely expected more (and better) for what we knew we had to pay. read more

Ok sure. 5 min later after dealing with ice...."what do you want" "ummmm if you're free then maybe a chicken parmesan stromboli" Ok 5 min later I get it. The girl behind the counter is pissed. Prova is a surprisingly good pizza square. I've had both the margherita and the Regina slice. The margherita was marginal at best. After trying it, I thought I'd never eat at Prova again. But the Regina slice has me coming back for more. Fresh mozzarella and cherry tomatoes galore! Wow, what a tasty slice. The crust goes quite well with the pizza too - thick with a little crunch. The only negatives: long lines at lunch - try to get there at around 11:45 on a weekday - and there was a guy with a Trump hat also in line. read more

I love this place. I started going there since I saw many people eat the pizza by Prova which looked really delicious. Actually they taste really good. My favorite is margerita tomato with mozzarella cheese. You should definitely try it. Prova is the best place to eat in Grand Central. read more

First time going to Prova thinking it would be a delicious slice of NY pizza. I was let down...from $4.50+ for a slice, this pizza should taste delicious. To me, the crust was really hard (on the pepperoni) and there's barely any sauce on the pizza. I also got a slice of the chicken piccata $6.50 and it was actually okay....would recommend another place for authentic pizza! read more

Worst service ever. Ordering two slices in a box, I was ignored as they gave me two paper plates. I again asked for a box. They put it on the counter I guess for me to box up. When insisted that they do it for me, she did, not closing the lid and basically flinging it at me. I asked the cashier for her manager, she told me she was and that they don't provide pizza in boxes. If I request than I do it myself? When I told them I wouldn't be back, she smiled. Not surprised by the comments about the servers here, what I am surprised about is the low food rating. We sat at the bar and it took awhile before the bartender finally warmed up to us. Not to say he was gushing with friendliness, but he did his job well. Had the garlic knots in mozz and rustica pizza. The pizza was delicious, piled high with toppings and a thick flavorful crust. We ordered the personal pizza, 4 slices that we both struggled to finish, extremely filling. I also found the prices very reasonable for nyc standards. Pizza, knots, 2 wines, and one beer 47 bucks without tip. Place isn't easy to find, tucked away in the corner of the food court. I was also surprised to see a lot of people coming to the bar and ordering drinks to go, assuming to take on the train. They put them in plastic cups with a cover and straw and your on your way. read more

Terrible move. Can't tell you how much I miss Two Boots. Slices here are smaller. Crust tastes like it's been frozen. Fancy ingredients that no one wants. And more importantly, no one wants to pay for. Just about had a heart attack when they told me my two slices cost $13. $13?????!!!! It's two small, square slices of pizza! Did I mention they are slow as well? People are trying to catch a train, don't have time to be asking about ingredients that aren't labeled, and they were understaffed when I was there as well. What a joke. I blame this partly on the landlord who as I understand raised the rents and decided they needed a higher class of eateries. Well, sometimes people just want to grab a couple slices quickly and get on the train. That's not going to happen now, and Prova won't be seeing any of my hard earned dollars in the future. Went there last night at 845 and downstairs at Grand Central was packed with diners especially Shake Shack and Oyster Bar as well as at Provo for takeaway and in their new bar. When we sat down we were told but lady bartender that they were closing at 915 and that we could buy a slice at takeaway and then sit at bar if we bought a drink. It was not a particularly welcoming situation so we left and went to MIchael Jordan which was also packed. Provo pizza looked good but not sure how they can afford that rent and discourage diners that early in evening. read more

Almost every day stop for a beverage before catching my train. Don't order a mixed drink unless the tall bartender is there. The other guy short pours your drink consistently -$10 for pretty much tonic water. If the tall guy is there you'll get reasonable value. If the other guy, choose a glass of wine - or skip it. read more

The pizza crust here was delicious, but not so much the ingredients on top, which were kind of meh. I thought all of the staff members were very nice and friendly, so I felt really badly when I had to complain about the portions of pasta given to me after a 10 minute wait. $16 for a portion of spaghetti for my son that I could have made at home for 80 cents--it was literally like a cup of pasta that sloshed vacantly around the takeout container it came in. The $14 portion of gnocchi for my daughter was equally tiny. To be fair, both pastas were delicious and the spaghetti perfectly al dente. But these are prices one might expect to pay at a nicer restaurant for a first course portion of pasta. You can't run a train station quick pizza place and charge that kind of money for a cup of pasta. It's a rip-off, and I was incredulous. Never again. Overall, $51+ for 2 slices, 2 tiny pasta portions, and 3 drinks. Maybe not unusual at Grand Central Station, but nevertheless an extraordinarily bad value. read more

Great Pizza starts with the crust and PROVA NAILED it!! It looks thick but it is thin and the perfect amount of crisp. The Fungi is delicious, but the Tartufata is out of this world. This is not NYC pizza, though they do have the standard toppings, this is a true pizza delicacy. I have missed two boots, but Prova has proven to be a top notch substitute. read more

The pizzabar serves reheated fancy pizza slices to commuters, and it's just OK. If you liked the former Two Boots at this location, which I did, you'll think of the new place as more expensive, more conceited, and dumber. More expensive: speaks for itself. More conceited and dumber: types of pizza are not labeled, so the hapless spatula-slinging slicemonger has to repeat the names of 8-10 types every minute or so as new customers get in line. Many of the ingredients are arcane Italian charcuterie and sausage, which the staff has little idea how to pronounce anyway, so the names don't necessarily tell you what you want to know. The slices have lots of different prices, so it's hard to tell what it's going to cost. I just ate an $8 slice of truffle-mushroom-whatever, their most expensive, and thought the cashier had made a mistake ringing it up. It was a poor value and I won't get it again, the other two slices I had in earlier visits were more reasonable for reheated pizza. Most annoying is the fact that the prices with tax don't round to quarters, as they did with Two Boots, so the cashier spends a lot of time making penny and nickel change for each transaction. Like Two Boots, the time the slice spends getting reheated varies widely, so you have as good a chance of getting a piece that is unpleasantly cool in the center as reasonably warm throughout. That is the nature of commuter pizza, but Prova gives it to you more slowly, more expensively, and more confusingly: in short, it's dumber. I'm hoping the taco bar next door will open soon a little less full of itself, and more commuter-friendly moxie. read more

Recently visited NYC from my home in LA....having been born and raised in NY, I was craving some good NY pizza! Prova did not disappoint! The pizza was excellent...also, good wine choices, all at reasonable prices. An added advantage...a place to sit and be waited on in the food concourse! Prova is tucked away and at first you may not realize that there is plenty of seating inside, so you can relax and enjoy your meal. My son and I had such a great lunch that I forgot to take my credit card! No worries, I called Prova...they had it secure in their safe and mailed it to me in LA! Definitely stopping in on my next NY trip! read more
