Don't go here if you are looking for a quick bite to eat. I ordered a coffee and a bagel sandwich. After waiting 20 minutes I asked about the status and they said another 5 minutes. For a 25 minute wait you would expect a gourmet egg sandwich. What I received was dried out bacon and an egg-like product reminiscent of Dunkin Donuts. I will not be going back. This is a really nice looking place in an area in desperate need of nice looking places. The bagels are bagels, so as with pizza, you can't really go too wrong (some bagels in the world are excellent, but very few bagels on Earth are really terrible). The negative part of this nice new place is the fact that the staff wears uniforms that say "Providence Bagel" as if I didn't know where I was or needed to be advertised to while ordering a Providence bagel. When will owners realize that uniforms are so 1980s fast food, and that cool places let their staff dress like actual humans. That said, maybe I would want the staff at this place dressing in their own clothes. This place has great potential... we'll see. I hope it is not all just window dressing. And yes, the service is very very very slow right now. This place is my new bagel spot. The bagels are huge and delicious. I also highly recommend the vegetable cream cheese. It is so fresh and the vegetable medley is perfect. I haven't had one like it. Delicious pastries but go early for the best selections! This place is BUSY! I recommend calling in large orders and double check them before you leave. I came in 12/21 and ordered two Baker's dozen and a ginger lemon tea iced tea. I received the wrong cream cheese tubs and had to remind them of my tea. No big deal but I'm a retail worker and consider myself more patient than most. Lol Quality is great, always soft fresh pastries and bagels. I always stop in whenever I'm in Providence. UPDATE: It seems the workers are hungry. I do love the product but the service is hit or miss. I shopped today for a bagel bundle, as I have many times in the past. I would say 3 out of five times I've left disappointed in something that took place. Today I ordered my bagels dozen and as I checked out I noticed too late that the cashier selected a tip for herself, helping herself to my wallet. I'm sorry, but it isn't right. I respect people in the service industry, as I have worked in service industry for many years, but it's sneaky and deceitful to set up the register to include a tip on a walk-in order and to ask them to sign their credit slip. If I want to tip I will opt to do that on my own. I've visited both locations and twice, parts of my order were missing. Another time I received the complete wrong thing because the person taking the order was too busy having a full blown personal conversation between me trying to put in my order. The prefect bagel continues to elude us is Providence. The flavors are inventive and tasty, the cream cheese is lovely, but these bagels are just bread with a hole in the center. They're missing that hefty New York CHEW. I'd also would like to throw out a vote for free dog treats. Charging $.75 for a dog cookie is obscene. My girlfriend and I both ordered bagel sandwiches and were happy with the quality though they had limited bagel options so late in the morning (Our fault). I look forward to the expansion of their coffee selection after completion of their soft opening. I needed a quick lunch so I stopped in to grab a bagel. 20+ minutes later I get my barely toasted bagel with pb not even applied to the bagel. When I get to my car and awkwardly spread pb on my bagel, I take a bite and notice everything tastes like garlic. There is everything mix all over my bagel and in my pb cup. I'll admit, my first visit here was fantastic. Second day after opening, service was attentive and easy, although you could tell there was a workflow issue. Fast forward to today, a Sunday morning at 8:00, business was brisk, a line was formed and staff was scrambling. Unfortunately, the staff seemed to be scrambling aimlessly, one looking for help from the other, the other staring into an empty bin of cream cheese. After waiting 10 mins. in line, was informed that they were out of cream cheese - plain - you know the basic necessity of a bagel joint. It was an unpleasant experience, but not my last. I will go back, they have a good product and I want them to succeed. And, after coming on here and reading the other reviews, I hope the owner takes some time to reflect on training and execution. This place was good just not my personal favorite. The parking was not great and customers a bit rude/stealing spots. (Not the stores fault). Had the great north on an everything bagel.. the bagel was kinda over salted. My significant other had a everything bagel sandwich with bacon and it tasted the same way. My son an plain bagel with peanut butter. It was okay. The coffee was very strong. So some people would really like it. It would be nice if they had a slightly less robust option. The menu is confusing and your sort of on the spot because the store is a fairly small space. It would be nice if they had take away menus in reach because the chalk board is hard to read. The bathroom was cleanish but there was a bucket in the bathroom, kinda wondering what for ? I wish there was a 3.5 option. I would be excited to see what they do with their new location. read more

A bakery in Providence with its own Parking lot. That's always a plus I'm not a fan of Parking in Providence. My wife wanted to try it, we enjoyed it immensely. I had an everything bagel with Lox Cream Cheese and a Blueberry Muffin. My wife had the same but with Vegan Cream Cheese. The blueberry muffins were Filled with blueberries. Which is a rarity these days where the blueberries can be counted on one hand from most places. The Lox infused Cream Cheese was delightful! read more

I went on the first day of opening, so I do plan on giving Providence Bagel another shot and will update my review then. I was so excited for this place to open-- it's only a few blocks away and directly on my way to work. I stopped by a bit before 7:00 AM. I used the drive thru and there was no line. The first three types of bagels I tried to order were all sold out. No big deal--it's the first day, I'm sure they'll figure out that out. So I ordered a sesame bagel with jalapeño cream cheese and a large black coffee. The coffee was good. The bagel was dry, namely because the cream cheese was spread so thin I could see the bagel underneath, and a quarter of the bagel had no cream cheese at all. It really was unpleasant and disappointing. The woman that took care of my order was pleasant , and I'm hoping that Providence Bagel irons out the kinks because I really, really want to love them. I'd much rather support a local business than go to large chains. read more

My family loves Providence Bagel for the constant change in specialty bagels every week anything from stuffing bagels to oreo bagels to lucky charms bagels with all different types of cream cheeses. Everything we have tried from here so far has exceeded our expectations. The only reason I didn't give Providence Bagel 5 stars is due to the fact that every time we go to get their specialty bagels it is almost impossible to get them unless you go when they first open. I have gone around 8:00am on a Saturday morning and they were already out of the special, but were in the process of making more that would be ready a bit later. I love me a good NY Style bagel. When I heard about Providence Bagel, I knew I had to try it. It is located on North Main Street - parking lot is limited but there is street parking and a drive thru as well. There are a ton of Bagel options from the sweet to the savory. I'm a savory girl myself, I got the sunflower seas bagel. Some places put them in the dough but these bagels have a festival of sunflower seeds on top. Pro tip: The way to eat any topping bagel is to slather the cream cheese on both sides and eat the side with the toppings directly over the bottom half, this way all of the toppings fall into the cream cheese and nothing gets wasted. I had a combination of Jalapeño and the bacon scallion cream cheese. Such a good combination...and there's nitro cold brew coffee to wash it all down. The bagels are very good, they have that crispy exterior with a chewy interior. The cookies are huge and crispy on the outside chewy on the inside as well. There's not a ton of seating inside but it's not bad. They should think of a way to get some tables and chairs outside for the warmer season. Once you order, you wait for your name to be called and it's kind of awkward with a ton of people just standing around, but that seems to be the only system when you wait for bagels and sandwiches. read more

I'll keep this review very short. The drive thru and customer service is quite slow and employees seem generally uninterested in what they're doing. The food is mediocre at best. I got a BEC on a French Toast bagel that looked like it was slapped together in two seconds. There was no egg to bacon ratio and it was very disappointing as well as underwhelming. It was NOT worth being an almost $6 bagel. I could get a better sandwich with better customer service at a bodega in New York. I have given this location as well as the one in North Providence too many chances for them to continually give me poor food and poor service not deserving of my money. I especially like that they serve plain whole wheat, sesame whole wheat and everything whole wheat bagels, all good for those looking to eat healthier . I went around 12pm, half expecting them to be out of everything but they weren't completely out. The parking lot was full and there was a long line to order. The inside is clean and modern. Its surrounded by windows so there's plenty of natural light. It's not a dark coffee house lol. They have a lot of coffee to choose from their display but I got an iced tea.... I ordered the French toast bagel with plain cream cheese and a rye bagel with jalapeño cream cheese. I initially wanted to try the bacon scallion cream cheese and honey walnut but I'll have to try another day. Both bagels needed more cream cheese and they're a bit dry. I wonder if they normally put a little bit of cream or they just were skimping since they were running low. I did hear an employee say they were planning on making more so they won't be the type of place to sell out fasts. The French toast bagel does taste eggy and cinamonny like real French toast. I'll probably try it again another day when they worked out all their issues. I was satisfied I got to try at least try a bagel at noon. I wish I would of saw the Yelp check in earlier omg. We visited Providence Bagel a couple of months back for the first time and wasn't that impressed. Yes, their selection is pretty good and yes, their bagels are decent but I didn't feel like it would've been any different if I'd have gone to Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks. Their Nitro Brew was also pretty terrible (we prefer The Nitro Cart). Overall, it's a bagel place. I don't think it's glorified or worth over paying to grab something here. The bagels are great, and they're slowly adding more items, but the service isn't great. Went on a not so busy morning at around 9am. They had three workers and still managed to forget one of the coffees we ordered. There were three other customers who came in the whole time we were there, so the service really shouldn't have been as slow. We were heading on a road trip for a college visit and thought we would grab breakfast on the way that would be quick. We were wrong. there were 3 of us and we all ordered separate, but right in a row. The first bagel sandwich was egg cheese and sausage and came out after a 10 minute wait which is not to bad. My sister ordered hers through an online app they promoting while we were there and I ordered mine through the cashier. Twenty minutes after my sister had ordered hers, they still had not called her, so we asked about it. 5 minutes later they come out with it and say sorry, it has been ready for awhile. She said the sandwich was ok, but not worth over 20 minutes wait. I ordered a vegetarian option which had peppers egg cheese mushrooms, it would have been good except that somehow pieces of chicken got into my sandwich, we had already left when I noticed. What was the point of the 45 minute wait? Called in advance to make sure they had bagels (since last time we went they were out and didn't cancel our order until we got there and had waited for our pickup time) and they said they had every type of bagel. 10 minutes after the 45 minute wait time when they handed us the bagels they hadn't even replaced the Asiago bagel we ordered with the backup everything bagel, but with a random plain bagel.
