Visited the location for Sunday's brunch with the ladies. Arrived around 11am and was immediately seated. Staff was very pleasant and overall service was great. Good selection of items on the brunch menu. At first glance I was torn between the whole fish or shrimp & cheese grits. Finally decided on the shrimp and grits. My dish was so tasteful. Also added a side of French Toast, again very tasteful and yummy. Topped it off with a refreshing Peach Bellini The overall ambiance is very nice. I tried this place for the first time today and I was extremely let down. The customer service was not great but the food was really bad. I ordered the bang bang shrimp, cauliflower bites, super salad, and spinach artichoke dip. When I got there I was told that they didn't have any artichokes it was just spinach dip which was OK but the spinach dip was simply thrown on the chips not even a lot to say that and the chips were extremely soggy. Would've been nice to be in a separate container since it is it was for takeout. The cauliflower bites were not crispy at all they were soggy. The super salad just looked like a bunch of rice thrown on top of A bunch of soggy lettuce. I had high hopes for this place and it was one of the worst meals I've had in a long time. read more

This place was AMAZING! Black owned and poppin. Their ambiance was great with black art and music all around. The service was pretty good considering we went during the Sunday brunch rush. The food came out fast and was fresh and DELICIOUS. Seasoned to perfection, every bite got better and better. Unfortunately their waffle maker was down when I went but I ordered French toast and Chicken (instead of chicken and waffles) and they didn't disappoint. My girl got the shrimp and grits and we finished our plates and were happily stuffed! The drinks were good as well. They have the option of bottomless mimosas or just one pitcher which is great for a small group. The blueberry margarita was STRONG. Its a nice spot, has a nice rooftop with seating. I had the chicken & waffles with cheese grits. The chicken and waffles, was okay, I'm not a fan of dark meat so that part threw me off. The grits were really good, like they weren't the instant grits but real grits!!! The food is made fresh to order. The mimosas were okay. The service wasn't the best, only saying because they were not properly staffed for the amount of people there. I felt bad for the two servers, they were trying their best and they needed help. The servers wore mask and provided plasticware in response to COVID-19. Rooftop seating if you want to sit outside. My table and I had to wait for our mimosas for a while and one person who ordered while everyone else did received her food very late. Otherwise, the decor was really nice especially inside - loved the crystals and BLM Plz street sign. Added this to list of brunch spots for the future again. read more

Came to Provost for my cousins birthday celebration. The staff were very nice and all wore their PPE throughout the time they were serving meals and conversing with staff and serving customers. The gathering was outside on their rooftop setting which was very good. The sets were set apart for social distancing purposes. The staff were on point and were great with taking food and drink orders and we received all of our food and drinks in a timely fashion. The food was outstanding. All the ingredients are fresh and organic and the house made dressing was sooo darn good. The shrimp and grits was good, it would have been amazing if the shrimp were seasoned a little more. The grits were fantastic. The omelette was amazing and I got chicken sausage which isn't pictured but it was great! Cooked to perfection! Overall the food and service was great. Dropped in for brunch on Mother's Day. It was packed but the servers made concessions and were very attentive. Food is excellent, though there was a wait that day. We were a party of 19 on 10.13.19. I wanted to celebrate my birthday early and as always, I wanted to support a B.O.B. This place did not disappoint. I found the spot, but had my sister coordinate the logistics. My sister raved about the owner's personality and genuine helpfulness. We were sad that she was not there during our visit. It was refreshing to see a Happy Birthday banner hung on our side. At any rate, I arrived about 5 mins early and Bianca (I think that was her name) immediately informed us of our area - essentially the entire right side of the establishment. As my guest rolled in, Bianca was ready to roll. I ordered 5 bottles of wine - to keep my guest happy. There was only one bottle that was not available, but that was no biggie. There were actually two large events going on at the same time (the other on the roof top) - as such, uniform glasses were hard to come by, but WHO CARES. We ordered about 20 minutes after arrival and the food began to come out about 20 minutes later. Everyone raved about their food. We ordered almost everything on the menu. I had a vegetable egg white omelet with home fries and salmon. The veggies in the omelet were seasoned to perfection, the side salad - that accompanies the omelet - was great. My salmon came out prior to my omelet. If I could change something, I'd want them to come out together as my salmon was no longer hot by the time my omelet arrived. So were the home fries. However, the star for me was my friend's pancake. Woooo that thing was crispy on the edges, soft in the middle and hmmm hmmmm good. Three attendees also ordered the kale/apple juice and they TRULY enjoyed that beverage. There was only one small hiccup and one recommendation - my Dad wanted toast and that took longer than expected to come out. He acted as if he could NOT eat his cheese omelet without the toast - I could not argue with the older lad. Once it finally came out, he was satisfied. I'd like to see different artwork on the walls - while I didn't pay it much attention while there - when I looked at my pictures I was like ... hmmm I don't want Abe and George in my pics. My Girlfriends and I came for brunch three Saturdays ago. First, We were greeted right away and taken to our table (by the owner). The server came to us rather quickly while I tried to order my mimosas to start. He told me no. I need to order my food and drinks together. That took me back because how can you stop someone from ordering their beverage. Second, I wanted to order a crab Benedict; he informed us the chef did not make any biscuits so that it would come on French toast, fine. When the food came, it was completely different. The server did not even notice. The crab cake had a good flavor but is VERY SMALL. You're paying $$$$ for a small dish and salad. Third, the bottomless mimosas had a time limit. So my girls and I decide to order one more pitcher before we left ( still in our time). The OWNER rudely came up to us and grabbed our mimosas cup. She did not say ONE word. I am twenty-four years old and was very baffled by how she handled the situation. Mind you we were not loud. We were simply having a good time or so I thought until we were rudely interrupted. Another staff member talked to us, trying to explain her reasoning. As the owner, she should have told us why she was doing that. Instead of grabbing the drinks, we paid for them. I would not recommend this place until work on staff members attitude. The owner is nasty, and needs to work on her communication. The server was ok, towards the end of the shift, he failed. Has potential, but major kinks to work out. I get it's a pandemic, so want to be fair. It seemed to be understaffed, and I was hoping the the lack of warm welcome and check in process would be overcome by great service and food. To our dismay, the lack of attention followed us through the food service. We had to flag down waiters to put in orders several times. The food was okay. I was delighted to have the red snapper and grits, but was underwhelmed by the flavor, seasoning and presentation. My grits were somewhat clumpy, and my fish had random BBQ sauce on it. I was really thrilled to hear this place was opening up, this side of town doesn't have a lot of fine dining experiences but my friends and I came to celebrate and were seated at the rooftop when it was still open. The owner is friendly and kind and the utmost intention has been put into everything to ensure a delightful experience. This was by far the worst dining experience I've ever had. A group of 10 of us decided to have an Easter Brunch here and made reservations a week in advance. One of our guests had warned that he had poor service before, and the staff was very slow. We were not allowed to be seated until all 10 guests had arrived, not the biggest deal since that's policy at a lot of restaurants. But we were seated upstairs on the rooftop deck and were made to wait about 30 min before our orders were taken. The waitress was extremely slow and literally took 30 minutes to input the orders into her device, which sent the orders directly to the kitchen. We then waited an hour for our drinks to be served, which were literally brought one or two at a time to the table. The wait for the food was worse. Only three guests were initially served. When were inquired about the wait we kept getting the excuse of "our food is made fresh here, and everything is being made to order" (isn't that literally the same as every restaurant?) The wait for food was so long, two hours in total that guests had to leave before their food was served causing them to cancel orders and drinks. The remaining food didn't come out until one of the guests, who was 7 months pregnant, complained to the manager and her food was immediately brought out. We then asked to speak with the manager to voice our concern, but mainly to give positive feedback on how the service could be improved. She then began to make useless excuses and got very offensive and aggressive in her response. She went back and forth with customers that had to wait several hours for SOME of their food to be served. She did not respond in a congenial and apologetic tone at all, making us even more upset. There was no offer to comp drinks, or meals, no statement suggesting that the service was bad, but would be better on our next visit, NOTHING but excuses that certain chefs didn't show up, the food is made fresh, etc etc. On top of it all my food was served cold! The bloody mary I ordered took an hour to be served as the mix was "being freshly made", and it was the worst cocktail I've ever had in life, literally took one sip, disgusting. The cauliflower hash was just chopped cauliflower, also served cold. The chicken and waffles were decent, but when served over 2.5 hours after ordering was not enjoyable at all. Also of note, several other guests, not in our party, arrived hours after we did and their orders were served. They ate, drank and left before we even got our food; of note, one couple ordered the same chicken and waffles as several guests at our table. Again, I wanted to love this place as its located in my old neighborhood, and adjacent to my current one, its a Black owned business which I wanted to support regardless of the experience, but based on the treatment or lack thereof by management I will never visit this place again, and will likely share my experience with anyone I know that asks about it moving forward. read more

I wanted to like this place but where do I begin. For starters, our bill for a party of 4, who were barely there for an hour and a half, had a bill under $200. Somehow, they charged my girlfriends card $403??? We finally got through to someone after calling the number for 2 days and was told a manager would be calling back in an hour. Here it is a day later and nothing. Now I'm convinced this is theft at this point since they think it's OK to overcharge someone's card by over $200. Perhaps it's the fact that they were understaffed since we waited almost 40 minutes to be seated after our reservation time, and it took 40 minutes to receive our drinks when we sat in the bar area, and 45 more minutes after that to receive our food. Was hoping to rectify this without involving legal action but it's this establishment clearly does not care about their customers. read more

Let me just say, I walked in today with my partner with high hopes. The music is great. It's a black owned establishment so the atmosphere is awesome. Even the menu looked great. We sat at our table at 1:45. The host asked if we wanted water and we declined, as we are frequent water drinkers and wanted to enjoy brunch with a nice drink. 15 minutes passed and no one returned to our table, as we saw them seat a couple. Another 20 mins went past and we saw another couple be seated. She took the drink orders for the other tables. We flagged her, she said she would be right with us and then came to take ours last, as if we haven't sat there far past the other patrons. They got their drinks and we got ours last. She took our order. 10 mins went past and another girl came out and took the order for the other 2 patrons that came after us. 20 minutes later we watched the other two couples that came after us receive their food. We waited another 20 mins and finally our food came out. It was now 3:10pm. We were very patient, I must say I don't know any other person that would have endured that without causing a scene. Even the people behind us said to us "we can't believe you're just getting your food, we kind of feel bad for eating". It wasn't their fault, idk who's fault it was. Therefore I asked for the manager. The head chef came up and we told him our concerns. He was nice and said he would give us a certificate to come back later and have a better experience. We didn't even finish our meal as we were frustrated and simply wanted to leave. The chef took the check and my partner asked the waiter for take out trays. 10 mins go by and they never came back. Honestly they are very lucky we waited around to pay. As we were seated outside, upstairs - we went downstairs and stood by the bar to wait for the check to pay. Another manager came out (he didn't state his actual role). We repeated the experience and told him we just want to pay and leave as we are over the whole experience and won't be returning. All he said to say was "sorry". It was the longest I have EVER waited. The food was okay, but not good enough for a 2 hour wait. Safe to say I will NEVER go back. My partner has about 12k Twitter followers that he shared this experience with and I have done the same on my platform. Please avoid this place if you care anything about your time! $53 for a meal we couldn't even finish because we were disgusted with the experience and the non-chalant attitude from the staff. read more

The only feedback I have is about the appetizers, they are over priced for the portion size. $13 for 5 micro wings is a bit much (I mean they were really small). Just take that in to consideration. In comparison to other black owned, upscale places I've been to in DC, the price mark up wouldn't prompt me to come back. They should rethink the pricing or portion sizes. read more

I didn't know much about Provost and went last Friday. I had the BEST Time!!! The service was great and the food delicious!! What a great after work place to go. The happy hour was on point and the drinks flowed. The DJ was off the chain- awesome. For a neighborhood joint, it was everything! I strongly recommend this place.
