Late lunch was a good time to give this place a 2nd try. I had been in almost a year ago and my experience was just "so-so." Today's service and food was much better...worth the 4 Star rating. Nice greeting at the door and, as we opted for a booth near the bar, the bartender visited politely and promptly. I went for the Fish and Chips (though I was considering the Grilled cheese and brisket). It arrived quickly, looked good (see photo) and was tasty. The server checked on us regularly and even brought the check on a timely basis...something of a lost art in many restaurants. The menu reflects the common ownership with The Block but is more expansive. Nothing terribly unique, however. Check out the outdoor seating options (the one out back could be a good hideaway) but the selection of TV'S inside is impressive. It won't be a year before my next visit. Impossible 2.0 has arrived at Pub 819 and I had to try it. The Pub itself is located in downtown Hopkins and has a combination of Whiskeys and tap beers. Although the whiskeys are international the tap beers are full local! My focus was the new launch of the impossible burger. Here it's served with vegan 1000 island, lettuce, tomato, onion and vegan cheese. The bun was brioche but they do have gluten free, vegan and pretzel buns available upon request. You can choose from fries or coleslaw or upgrade to Brussels sprouts, broccoli, side salad, onion rings or tator tots. I opted out of the vegan 1000 island and vegan cheese. Instead I replicated their double royal which has two patties, cheese, onion and a garlic mayo on top. I was in complete shock by how burger like it looked and when I bit into it, every part of my senses said it couldn't be plant based. Definitely a 10 on the taste scale! The impossible burger is gluten free but does still have a soy base so depending on sensitivities, not everyone can enjoy it. But if you're looking for a delicious vegetarian option, this burger is sure to please. The Pub interior is inviting and has a good combination of industrial mixed with farmhouse decor. Good spot! Nice upscale American pub food, good beers, and general atmosphere. We ordered take out from here plenty during the pandemic and they translated their food to take out very well. They have a couple very cozy patios and very clean dining area. I've had the po-boy, the beyond burger, hot chicken sandwich, the bison burger. All great! The fries and sides are solid, nice tap beer list (they have cocktails as well but I don't drink cocktails), downtown Hopkins is a quaint little place and this is a nice place to have a meal. Pub 819 has a very friendly and amazing team working for them, and I guarantee you will not be disappointed with the service. The food is very good, it's not amazing and it definitely won't be the best thing you have ever tasted but you will be very happy with what ever you decided to get. Pub 819 has something for everyone wether you are there for Brunch, Lunch, or Diner. They have many options on all the menus, and they also have a very great cocktail menu that I'm sure will not disappoint. They also host lots of special events and activities so check back often to see what they are offering. They also make the ketchup in house, some people love it and some hate it you will need to try it out your self to see what you think. Pub 819 is easily one of my favorite Pubs in Minnesota. I have not been disappointed with Pub 819 once so I will keep going back for more good food, amazing drinks, and fun activities. Delicious food and awesome atmosphere, service was very slow. Loved the champagne flight my friend got, the flavors were all so good and it was really unique - id recommend sharing it with someone though as it's a whole bottle of champagne. The bloody Mary's are really good too, they seem expensive to me but I suppose the toppings make it that way! I wouldn't eat the olive or pickle they tasted like old bar garnishes, but the rest is pretty good. Food was average breakfast food but hit the spot! Lots of tvs as well for the sport lovers. Fries were also great - both sweet potato and regular. The bad: No avocado on the turkey burger despite that being in the description. Considering that was the primary topping, big let down. Spicy slaw was not spicy - it looked and tasted like pre-made normal slaw you'd find anywhere. Maybe they made a mistake with the side and gave me regular instead of spicy? Not sure, but not worth the extra cost and very disappointing. Pretty small serving of fries that accompanied the burger. The Tachos here were awesome! I would highly recommend them! My hubby had a curry rice bowl that he really liked and he ate it all! I had the Ruben and upgraded my side to the Brussels sprouts. The sprouts were not cooked hardly at all and very crisp. It was more like a salad but wasn't supposed to be. The Ruben was not very good at all. It had a bad oil taste. I choked down half of it. I've been here twice this week once for dinner and today for lunch. Both times I've been impressed with the food and happy with the service. The first time we walked in on a Friday and hit it perfectly and was able to get a seat at a booth right as the happy hour crowd was starting to wind down. We tried the fried cheese curds with spicy ketchup (yum) to start and each had one of the specialty burgers for our main course. They were ample servings, juicy and full of flavor. I also sampled one of their many whiskey drinks, an Old Fashioned, and have to say it was prepared perfectly (and I'm from Wisconsin where we take that drink VERY seriously) - definitely recommend trying one. It's so unexpected to find a place like this in "downtown" Hopkins but we like the location although parking can be a bit tricky if you want to park right in front like most Minnesotans. The food is awful. Ordered the wings. 14$ for 6 wings. They weren't even the wings that were advertised. Supposed to be buttermilk crusted and tossed in sauce. They were not. Also Ordered the 18$ beef stroganoff.. very mediocre at best. Everyone at my table didn't like there food. Even the waffle fries were bad. Decided to order Uber Eats tonight and try out a new restaurant, Pub 819 - we were not disappointed! As we just moved to the area in March, and restaurants and bars shut for social distancing shortly after, I must say I cannot speak for the ambiance of the place as I haven't physically been there yet, but the food quality and care that went into this takeout order truly made our evening in great! The Burrata Salad was delicious (lots of cheese, nuts, squash, raisins - yum!) and my husband loved the cheese curds and wings. Since my last review, Pub 819 has gone through a very beneficial menu change! The menu has changed for the better, and they still have their awesome fries. :) There is a large (some would say odd) variety of stuff on the menu now, but that just intrigues me more in trying out the new stuff. I ordered from Pub 819 for dinner in the office, and I probably won't order again. I ordered the brisket grilled cheese, and I think calling it a grilled cheese is a stretch. I saw some orange/cheese color in the sandwich when I checked, but I didn't taste any cheese. I will say, though, the portions were very large and I had left overs if that's valuable to you. The sandwich was full of meat and it tasted good, but I felt like I didn't get the grilled cheese that I ordered. Pub 819 was a surprise birthday treat that turned out to be very pleasant. Plenty of outdoor seating in front and behind the establishment is a great option on a nice day. The outdoor seating is relatively enclosed and has some televisions for watching if you are in to that. The indoor seating looked comfortable and roomy. A nice ambiance welcomes you with a nice, rusting pub decor. The staff was friendly and helpful. Not too pushy, which was nice as we wanted to take out time. Plenty of whiskeys from which to choose, a good list of tap brews, and a nice selection of mixed drinks/cocktails. The C and C Old Fashioned was very delicious. As for the food, everything that came by our table looked delicious. The steak bites were a tasty app and the poke (both kinds) was a scrumptious main dish. The location is downtown so parking is on the street which can be a bit limiting. The C and C group has a handful of other locations throughout the metro area. Will definitely be giving some of the other locations a try. read more

I'm surprised this place doesn't have a better Yelp rating. It's much better than the poor ratings others have given it. Downtown Hopkins has small town charm and so does Pub 819. There are plenty of seats at the bar but you may have to wait a little bit for a table on the weekends. So many TVs for watching sports. There are also patios in the front and back. I really wanted to try some apps like buffalo wontons but I didn't think I could tackle apps and a burger so I'll be back for those. I ordered the Fig and Brie burger. I really loved the caramelized onions and Brie spread. The fig jam wasn't too powerful but it added some sweetness. I ordered my burger pink and it came out perfectly juicy. My fiancé got the Blueberry burger which sounds super weird but the blueberry sauce was not as pungent as you would suspect. Only downside of the burgers were the buttery and greasy brioche buns. The buns were soft but a little too buttery which made gripping the burger difficult and messy. The side of fries were plentiful and crispy, just how I like them. I had one of the best burgers I've ever had here. The hot dickel burger I think it was called. I've been going here since it opened. Still make it out there from time to time to visit. Four of us tonight for dinner. I like the decor, it's modern, kind of rustic chique. The service was attentive and courteous. There is a disconnect between the food and the price in my opinion. I struggle to see why a burger should cost $16. It's similar to the Gold Nugget in Glen Lake. I just don't get it. Yes, it was fine, but there were no amazing flavors to set the burgers we had apart from any other burger. In fact, I think 5 Guys might have them beat. The turkey sandwhich was also unremarkable, lacking flavor. The cobb salad, ordered with chicken was good. Ended up going for the red wine burger with red wine reduction, sautéed mushrooms, onions, and Camembert cheese. The patty was cooked to perfection with a pink center. I had the Thai peanut chicken flatbread that was $12. Unfortunately it had around 8 peanuts and 6 minute pieces of chicken on it. Plenty of bean sprouts though. Woo hoo. The only dish truly enjoyed by all was a tater tot appetizer. But if that was the highlight, which it was, there's no reason to return. Also, if you're a wine drinker vs the huge selection of tap beers, you'll get smallish pours for biggish prices. Came here for drinks and dinner and it was fantastic! We sat out on their back patio (they also have another, smaller patio out front) and it was decorated with super cute string lights. My friend and I both ordered the White Sangria which was super delicious and refreshing, and it looked super cute too! We also ordered a round of Ellsworth, WI Cheese Curds for the table, which were spot on (sorry Minnesota, Wisconsin curds are best)! They came with a spicy jam dipping sauce, which was kind of like a spicy sweet and sour sauce. I had never had anything like that with cheese curds before, but it worked surprisingly well! For my main entree, I ordered the Fish and Chips which came with beer battered cod, French fries, and their house made coleslaw and tartar sauce. The fish and breading were really flavorful, but it was a little rich and there was no way I was ever eating it all in one sitting. Also, I am very picky about my coleslaw and I hate tartar sauce, but the coleslaw was great (crunchy texture and not overloaded with sauce) and the tartar sauce was actually kind of good. I didn't end up eating it with my fish because it's just not my thing, but I tasted a little because my friend said it was amazing and I was pleasantly surprised - definitely not your typical tartar.
