I remember paying 45.00 for a 10x10. That lets you know how long it's been since I rented a storage. I have transitioned into a minimalist lifestyle of materialism, I didn't have space for the four rules of organization - sort, donate, keep or trash. Yet, I am familiar with the amenities a storage facility should have and this one did not! I didn't ask prior to securing a space because some amenities are no brainers. LIKE.. A dolly or moving cart Trash bins Parking In AND Out gate Early a.m. open and late closing And because this location is built on a hill it's quirky. Your vehicle or truck could get in a jam. Yet, when the declutter gene ensues, you must act on it. This is the year where I'm ending my relationship with procrastination. We have been together too long and nothing has been produced but...procrastination. With that being said, if you are only renting short-term 1 year or less, with the purpose of reorganizing and elimination then the place is suitable. Be mindful (w/Public Storage) that an automatic $19.99 lock fee and $15.00 insurance is applied to your rate UNLESS you get your own lock and show proof of insurance. Do not delay this transaction. The reservation system is technologically impressive, user friendly and no commitment. You will even know what floor your storage is on if the elevator is accessible or if stair accessible only. The trick though is even if it says elevator, when you directly call the storage facility some elevators break down quite often. My recommendation is choose a storage on the first floor. You can actually call a number and talk to a human. High Fives Neat, clean, well lit. Each storage has an independent light ALL units on the first floor. 2 minutes off 15 interstate. 30 seconds within three gas stations. Immediate confirmation via text &email for "hold" or "rent". Personal intro phone call from manager. Thumbs Down Parking (pitiful) No dolly or moving cart (more pitiful). Prices. Hilly. No trash bins. Not sure if the restroom is operable. Best Tip: When you research your storage ask the questions in the thumbs down section. "This year break-up with all situations and people not serving your best self." read more

I really like the service and the way that we can open the gate with the app. Is very convenient. Fair prices too! The only 2 downsides (that's why I don't give 5 stars) : 1- it closes at 6pm :/ some days I have a lot of classes and the time that I can go is already closed. Other places offer till 10pm and some are 24 hours. I just saw that after I rented :/ 2- at least in my location in Kearny Mesa they don't have parking spots inside so when I tried to get to my storage was 2 cars parked in front of the door that I need to use and right next to was a huge company truck unloading furnitures. I had to wait a lot until they finished to be able to access my storage. So is very inconvenient! read more

Absolutely awful customer service/website information. Some of it was on me but crazy that there website information isn't accurate. No way to tell that if you reserve a unit online you can't go in during their posted hours (6am-6pm) to complete the reservation. I went to go get my storage unit the day I reserved and nobody was there. I then thought I could complete the booking online. Only to find out that they need an appointment which are only available a day out after I had paid for the first month and a none refundable admin fee. I then get my code online and it tells me to office hours are 930 am to 6 pm and need to talk to them to fully activate my gate code. I wait from 615am till 1015am not a soul. Called that day and the next still haven't heard back. I finally left and went further down the street to another public storage where Mike helped me out a ton! Use him and the other property instead. He even went above and beyond to help me cancel the other storage unit. This property feels like a scam to me, why have posted hours or specific office hours if nobody will be there during those office hours. Also if I reserved a spot on a date and they aren't there to give me the 'keys' why did they charge me the full price and not respond to my calls about refunding. read more

I moved my stuff out ended my storage contract and have still been charged for the next month and it shows I will be charged next month. the customer service department is no help. and when I spoke to the front desk I just got asked if I was here to pay. read more

Monitor your unit & account. We initially got this unit as an "in-between" while we moved, but kept it longer because we needed the extra storage. We started off at $99/month i believe, and over the span of 2 years ended at $153/month. I wasn't paying attention to the fact the the price was jumping with what seemed like every 6 months or so (5x10 unit). Maybe the 2nd or 3rd. visit back, they had re-painted the halls and i noticed that they put the wrong number tag above unit, and our number was above another one. I brought it to their attention each time i stopped by - which was at least 5 times. At the time of me moving everything out - it had still not been switched. The staff upfront wasn't usually too helpful, except for the last one that was there - she was super friendly. There aren't any carts or anything - or none close to out building - so bring something to move your belongings. read more

I had a wonderful experience checking in with Ana. She is so kind and helpful and just did everything she could to make it easier for me. The unit is very clean. I had made an appointment online, and the day before I received a call saying no one would be there at that time and asking me to postpone it, which I appreciated, and Ana was there promptly at the new appointment time. It would be nice if someone was always there during open business hours in case of a problem. But Ana was great, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. read more

Good units, and decent front desk staff, but as a whole the rental system is terrible. I ended my rental and moved out thought I was good to go. 2 days later at the beginning of the month I got my bill for the next month. I went to the storage facility and the front desk only asked if I was there to make a payment. Now I've ended my rental in person and online it's been more than a week and my account reflects I have a upcoming bill for next month. They will let you change your storage unit but not move out completely they keep charging you. And if you don't pay they will sell your debt to a collections agency. Use a different storage facility!!! read more

DO NOT RENT A SPACE HERE!!! If I could I would give no stars. Our unit was broken into by another customer. The employees lied about what they saw and knew. We were able to find our items and work with SDPD to retrieve them. Now after we have paid our bill we get a call saying we are being evicted due to loitering????? After our things got stolen we staked out around the facility but was never on the property until it was time to meet with the detective. Now the people who unit was robbed and violated is getting evicted!! Don't trust these people, don't trust your beloved items with this place!! Shady all around! This is our second time having issues with this company and we are DONE!!! read more

Absolutely useless. We booked a unit weeks in advance, were called the day before our reservation to confirm that we still wanted the space, confirmed that we did, and showed up the next day to get the key only to be told they didn't have a unit for us. Had to scramble just to find a second place near us as our POD was coming that same day. The people in their office are nothing more than receptionists who cant do anything without calling a manager who is constantly "busy" or "in a meeting". Joke of a facility. read more

Moving out during a pandemic is probably one of the worst things that can happen but I was happy that public storage was open. They had a deal for 50% off their first month and I got myself a 5x10 which is perfect for me. Chris was a really great help to me and showed me the unit beforehand so I knew if it would be fit for me. This is a Great location for me but only reason it's a 4 star is the hours. Once it's closed you can't access your unit which kinda sucks since some places let you access all day. But it's not too bad, makes me wake up earlier! read more

Or to answer any questions that I might have had. Available Units are plenty and prices are reasonable, but that where the good ends. Customer Service is beyond lacking; if you need to contact them directly, nobody answers the phone, so you leave a message and they'll get back to you. No biggie unless you need a door code to get to your Unit and if nobody is in the office, you're out of luck. No courtesy "Be back in X Minutes/Time" Notice and if they're on the property somewhere, they won't answer the phone anyway. So much for On-Site Management! read more

My husband and I had a wonderful experience today at Public Storage. We were helped by the kind gentleman Mike S. As soon as we arrived we were happily greeted by Mike, who helped us finish our reservation and made the process a breeze. Everything was explained in detail so there is no surprises. He throughly answered all our questions with patience. Mike really showed he cared by walking us to our storage unit so we knew exactly where it was located. I am so glad I am moving out of this place. Not only did they raise the rent by over 40% in a little more than a year, I got here at 8:00 am on a Saturday with a bunch of people to help me move and found out that i can't get in until 9:30. Yhus isridiculous. Who waits until that late on a Saturday to move, especially in the summer. People want to get it done early to beat the heat. Dont be sucked in by their 1st month for $1. I rented a small 5 x 8 unit back in February and recently received notice that August 1st my monthly rent is being increased by 90%... that's right, almost double what it was. Given the age of the facility, the already limited gate access times and the limited parking close to the unit, I no longer think it's worth what they're asking. I'm moving out this weekend and into another facility that offers better value. I do want to point out that my issue is with Public Storage, not with the staff here... Caution do not enter We vacated our unit today and closed our account here and moved next door to associated storage. Please be advised that this facility is not professional. 1. They have a never ending row of new staff at the front and so there is never any continuity of consistency in service. 2. Lost boxes from our storage unit and there response is: you have no insurance with us. Can't help you. They did not try to find out or qualify how or why it happened. Apparently there are also no security cameras... So convenient. 3. Called corporate and explained the situation and they gave me the cell number of the general manager and after leaving several messages I never got a response. Of course, there is now a new manager. 4. Antiquated equipment, this is not a big deal or maybe it is. The gate to the property does not even work and it's been in this condition for several weeks. You have to get out of your car and key in your code but you have to do it multiple times as the gate does not fully open. If there is another place to store your items I would suggest that. The people at this location simply do not care and have no pride in their job. The state of this location will justify this statement. read more

Be prepared to find your storage unit robbed whether it's Interior or Drive access unit. Chris, the manager was off for 2 days. Jake was working on Jan 8, 2015. He answered my questions that they only need 2 days notice to vacate the storage unit. He checked my information on their computer system. Two days later, Sat, Jan 10 2015, I arrived with my INTERIOR storage unit robbed. And 3 other units in the same interior building were robbed. Chris, the manager, was working on this day, Sat, Jan 10, 2015. He gave me the tel. no to call the police, who arrived 2.5 hrs later. The policeman mentioned there have been many reported robberies at this storage unit. In fact, there was a couple I met across my storage building whose storage unit was robbed in Oct 2014, and they had a drive access storage unit. According to Chris, the storage is inspected at the end of the work day (5 PM), and any problems are reported to him. Which means, the robbery occurred between 5 PM Friday and 9 AM Saturday. According to Chris, no customer who rents a storage unit from the building that was robbed entered the building during the day of robbery. Which means that the robber knows the code to the door of the building. I'm very disappointed with this storage unit. The doors are easily broken by a crowbar or cutting tools. I noticed, there's NO security camera except one at the gate. If that camera was even working or "turned on", they should have a record of who entered the gate between 5 PM on Jan 9, 2015, and left soon after, and they can catch the robbers. If there is no record of anyone with a car entering between those hours, then it is safe to say that the robbers came by other means such as a bike, and they moved the contents of the robbed units to their own storage unit within the same building or across the building with direct access. By the way, there was a bike left in the hallway in front of my interior storage unit. Don't know if it was stolen from one of the three other units that were robbed the same time or was the mode of transportation of the robber. What hurts the most is that the robbers took my hard drive and took my son's personal belonging. My son is an Iraq war veteran who is still suffering from illness from the war. read more

When my storage was broken into, the grounds keeper pointed out that they had no alarm system and they only had ONE Camera at the entrance to monitor the entire facility. When I filed for a police report the officer in charge let me know that there were multiply break-ins at this location and when I confronted the General Manager at the site she lied to me and denied it. I had to wait an entire hour for the grounds keeper to return from lunch just to replace the latch that was destroyed by burglars. On top of that, when they did replace it, the GM's craftsmanship was so shotty that we had to redo her work. There are opennings in the rafters, poor security, weak latches, and grounds managers that don't care. I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody. Update: Some how my review has been deleted and I had to repost this. To top it off they will continuously raise rental fees without notification which is extremely illegal. read more

I had a good experience with Chris and this Public Storage location. A $1/first month rental is advertised, but it ends up coming to $69 with the additional $22 administrative fee, $18 lock, $9 insurance, and somethings else. The offer IS too good to be true. Nevertheless, I felt like myself and my items were secure when I went to the storage place in the late hours of the night and early hours of the day--very important for a female. Would have given a 4 star rating, but the hidden fees lost a star in my review. You'll be safe and secure though, which is rating-less :). read more
