Popped in here last night with the family. I've been here many, many times in the past and I usually order basic stuff (enchilada w/rice & beans) which is always good. Thought I would try something new so I ordered the Camarones al diabla. It was ok, it wasn't very spicy even though it was designated with a little chili pepper on the menu. I probably won't order that again, but I will definitely come back. The service here is always extremely friendly. Fine dining it is not, but the atmosphere is always light and fun here! read more

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant to eat at. I come from a town in Washington where the only place to eat out was our local Mexican restaurant. Needless to say, I grew up with authentic Mexican food. Puerto Vallarta has just that. Quality food, excellent service, and a pleasant atmosphere. I enjoy eating here every time. Used to go here years ago, was pretty good....but ate there last night and it was absolutely garbage! The ground beef was grainy like it was as cut with a filler, the refried beans reminded me of instant refried beans, not good! The enchilada sauce was sweet, yuck! So we have been going to puerto Vallarta for years it has been our go to place. But lately say last 6 months or more it has been more bad food than good. The we have asked and they changed cooks. They need to go back to the old recipes and cook. Now we had dinner there 3 weeks ago and they had another cook cooking and it was wonderful was amazing flavor. Tonight it was back to bad food again. My shredded beef on taco and enchilada had no flavor and inside of enchilada was cold. My Chile relleno Had very little cheese and had a milky while stuff coming from it I am thinking the liquid was from the little cheese in it. The rice and beans also had no flavor. My husbands nacho plate was so congealed with cheese he couldn't pick up a chip without it breaking and his meat had no flavor. Our water with lemon had more flavor than the food did. The service was not that great either. We asked for water to drink and our food came out before our drinks and we had to ask for them again. Our favorite waitress Ashley wasn't there. She always makes sure stuff is right. It wasn't that busy only a few cars when we got there at 4:45. Looks like we might have to check into a new place to eat. Going out to eat is not cheap and you want to enjoy your meal and go away satisfied. read more

It's always busy, a good sign. The staff is friendly and attentive, the chips and delicious salsa will hold you for a moment until the food comes out of the kitchen promptly and hot. Four flour tortillas as a side are a must. Ask for butter to maintain your cholesterol levels. One thing I hate is after dinner they arrive unannounced with "poppers" a small glass of booze that they slam on the table with great flourish and a shout which may translate into, "Yankee/Gringo, soon there will be more of us than of you" but I'm not certain I've got the meaning right. Everyone else enjoys the event. I just can't stand it. So I say at the outset, none of those ##ASD!##@@@ poppers for me, please. However don't discourage them from bringing the cinnamon coated chips with whipped cream on top as a dessert. To die for. My only other complaint: the portions for the small dinners are monstrous. You will need help eating and leaving if you order one of their real dinners. More often than not at restaurants I am beginning to ask for a carry out container at the outset, cut the dinner in half to the carry out container, feel good that I'm going to clean my plate, and days later find that delicious dinner growing in the refrigerator. My intent is good, my follow thru needs work. ¡Olé! I've got to learn Spanish real soon now. read more

This place is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in town. I am lucky that I live so close to so many great restaurants - I have walked to Puerto Vallarta before. And thank goodness, because after a jumbo margarita and some tequila poppers, walking is advisable over driving. They offer some good vegetarian selections (but most include spinach, so if you're anti-Popeye it may not be your thing) and the food is always fresh. When they bring the chips and salsa, they also bring a small dish of refried beans topped with Cotija cheese. Amazing. I like to order the avocado tostada (meat-free, obviously) or the veggie burrito (which comes "wet" - smothered in enchilada sauce and cheese). The prices are average ($7-10 for an entree) and if you order any alcoholic beverages they bring complimentary tequila poppers (Tequila mixed with Sprite that they slam with a serving tray and you shoot it as the bubbles fizz). The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is warm and comfortable, and the food is good. What more could you ask for? read more

Not authentic mexican, but you take what you can get, being as far from the border as we are. The food is good, the veggie enchiladas actually swayed me away from another mexican food place that is about a block away. The drinks are strong, and the fact that we got extra tequilla shots after our meal made everything that much better ;) service was quick and nice. I have always been happy with Puerto Vallarta delivery service and the food (actually most of the time on the delivery) well we had been going into the location across from Shasta High for years for dinner, and now we get it delivered. Saturday I had a menu item delivered and it was missing a main ingredient and I called the restaurant that delivered it (Hartnell) and basically was told that I didn't call back soon enough! It's really no big deal, but apparently it is to them! I will never call them again for delivery....too bad that money is the bottom line and not customer service. read more

0/10 would NOT reccomend I'm visiting some family in Redding and thought I'd stop in because I love mexican food. Today I wasn't feeling too adventurous, got a burrito with just beans rice and cheese, pretty simple right? Wrong! All they had to do was take a tortilla put in a little beans a little rice and some cheese but boy was I disappointed when they brought my order out. They set the "burrito" down and it's absolutely covered in melted cheese, how am I supposed to hold my burrito if its covered in hot cheese what the heck!! Then I cut it open, since I can't hold it, and it's just beans NO RICE NO CHEESE!!!!! Can u believe it? The waiter even asked if I wanted it all in the tortilla and I said yes thinking to myself of course I do it's a burrito. I was very disappointed. The beans inside the tortilla weren't even good, not a single bean to be found it was all mush! Will not be returning. Also, when the waiter set my plate down I touched it and I burned my hand! He then looks and me and monotonously says "oh its hot", DUH tell me before I touch it!! Very upsetting experience. read more
