We had a beautiful Monday afternoon to sit outside and enjoy lunch on the patio. We did not have a full view of the river but you know it's there. I ordered the pullman burger and it was one of the best burgers I have had in a long time. A little steep at $12.00 but delicious none the less. My wife had the southwestern chicken wrap and loved it. Next time we are in Appleton we will definitely make this a stop. The inside looks intriguing! read more

I visited Appleton on a recent business trip and we stopped by Pullman's for dinner one night. Everything pretty much fine. I don't have any stand out impressions from my experience. The service was good and the food was fine on par with a mid level chain. The outdoor seating section along the river was nice but somewhat limited by the band playing at the other end which turned what could have been a nice peaceful experience into a mildly annoying one. Not a big problem but lots of places seem to like having live music when it might not add to the experience. Overall it probably wouldn't be my first choice in town but it's certainly good option if you find yourself in Appleton. read more

Cool little joint out in the middle of downtown Neenah. Scenary is really beautiful, being thats its right by a river, the fox river, and the restaurant is in Trolley Square. The building is really cool, with old memorobilia about the trolley's. So we ended up eating here, and service was really good as well as the food. I ate a garlic spicy shrimp pasta that was really spicy and really good. Sauce was good, a good amount of shrimp, with lenguine noodles..very good. Tried the Tiramisu, and oh man, was it good...MMMMmm.. You got to try it if you are ever in the Fox Valley area of Wisconsin. read more

I was really kind of disappointed in our visit to Pullman's. The establishment is nice, and there's a gorgeous patio/garden area. Looks like it would be a nice place for a banquet/wedding/event with the private rooms they've got. As for the food - it was just .... meh. I ordered the "new reuben", and read the description a couple times to verify there was NO mention of cheese (I'm kind of odd and ALWAYS order my reubens with NO SWISS CHEESE - sorry, I just don't like cheese that smells like feet covered in paint). When I didn't see a mention of cheese, I assumed it wasn't on the sandwich. Afterall, it was a "new" reuben. Meaning, they pretty much changed the sandwich in it's entirety (ie: different meat (turkey and ham instead of corned beef), different garnish (cole slaw instead of kraut). So I figured NO CHEESE was just another difference. Boy was I mistaken! Thankfully I was able to pick off BOTH pieces that were located on the TOP and BOTTOM of the sandwich. And really, the sandwich was just okay. My daughter ordered the kids cheeseburgers, which she said tasted weird and she didn't like. My son got the kids chicken tenders, which he seemed to enjoy okay. My husband ordered the bbq bacon cheeseburger which he said was good, but he was not given an option of how he wanted it cooked, so he said it was too well done for his liking, and a bit too dry. I like this restaurant a lot. The patio overlooking the water is a bonus to the already beautiful building. I had a mulled strawberry lemonade drink that was so good I had three! My steak was perfection and I'm very picky, so I was very pleased that it was exactly how I wanted it. My salad was fresh and crisp. Tonight was the first night in many weeks that Pullman's did takeout during the Covid-19 shutdown. We did takeout. I had the Asian Salmon Salad, my wife had the Chicken Quesadilla. Both were excellent. I didn't try hers but she was very happy. For mine the greens mix was a nice assortment and loaded with almond slivers. The Asian dressing was excellent. Salmon perfectly prepared and a nice portion. And I liked that the salmon was separated from the salad to reduce wilting as you travelled home. Great spot. Great food. This is my third time coming here, and again had an excellent time. Service was great as always, and the drinks were on point. We had a party of 4, and the people who got fish, pasta, and the quesadilla really enjoyed their meal. The person who got the steak said it wasn't the greatest. We are longtime frequent customers and just had a terrible experience here. Usually Pullmans is excellent. We have a large group of people that go out to eat together every Friday. We often have a dozen or more people. Today we only had six of us. Our food was proportioned oddly. 3 of us ordered ​cups of lobster bisque. I of the cups was only half full. Our waitress stated she would take the half cup off our bill. Ok great. Then our food comes. Burgers are way overcooked, wrong sides, chippers are burnt. One of the kids meals was overcooked. We are not a group that complains. We do that with our wallets. If we don't like it, we won't come back. But then our bills come and the soup is on there. Our server said the soups are served half full. Ok, but only one of 3 soups. Server says she'll go fix the bill, then returns to say *he won't remove the charge*. So I ask to talk to the manager, and after waiting for 10 minutes to talk with him, we submit to the waiting game and decided to just leave. Bill was paid, tipped over 20%. Told server on or way out that we weren't mad at her, but we were not pleased with tonight's visit. read more

Come for the view! Don't stay for the food. I really want to like this place as the patio area is very nice and it is within walking distance of my home. I come here often, as friends often want to go here and every time I am disappointed. I feel like I have tried half the menu at this point and have never enjoyed my food. The Pullman's tenderloin is overpriced and the risotto is tasteless. The crab cakes taste like they got them in the freezer section and then microwaved them and sprinkled Sriracha mayo on top. We just arrived in Appleton from Cincinnati and were looking for a restaurant to deliver food to our rental house. We ordered from Pullman's and had delivery from EatStreet. The food was delivered on time. The driver dropped off 2 bags, one with our food and one with someone else's Chinese food. When I called Pullmans I was connected with the manager. He was very apologetic and said he would connect with EatStreet and have them drop the missing food off to our house. The manager himself dropped the food off and it arrived within 30 minutes. Very impressed with the service from Pullmans. The pictures that are included are just to show that the food was dropped from EatStreet and left with snow inside the bag. Not sure what happened since it was not snowing outside. The mistake on deliver was the mistake of Pullmans. Thank you for getting correcting the order! The French dip was delicious!!!! read more

Dec 2021 After a day of Christmas shopping, my niece, who lived in Appleton, recommended Pullmans for dinner. We didn't have a single complaint. The portions were large and the food was hot and delicious. Our waitress was very attentive, fixing any issue we had, brought us extra napkins when requested, drink refills, etc. And she was dressed appropriately. We didn't have to guess who the wait-staff were and who the customers were (happens in a lot of restaurants now days). I would definitely go back every time I am in Appleton. read more

This establishment is located inside a gorgeous building in Appleton, WI. It's obvious they spent a lot of money creating a comfortable, soothing atmosphere, right on the Fox River. It's a damn shame they didn't put the same effort into their food. We were disappointed, to say the least. On Tuesday, August 12, 2014, around 6:00 pm, we met 2 friends there for dinner. Hadn't seen them in a year because we live in SC (tho we're from the Valley) and were in the area for our annual vacation. Drinks were ok, then it pretty much went downhill from there. Service from the kitchen was slow. Took too long to get my lobster bisque soup. Waiter apologized and said "some items take time". Huh? It's soup, already made...just heat it up. The soup tasted just ok. My husband had the New York strip. Not a good cut of meat which tasted like they overly seasoned it to compensate. And boxed mashed potatoes, or at least that's exactly what it tasted like. Awful. Really, Pullman's, BOXED?? Go to your room. My entree was shrimp alfredo. It was so bad I don't know where to start. Very manufactured tasting. Pretty sure they must have gotten this from Chef-Boy-R-Alfredo. It was just terrible. And where were the shrimp? Not even a shrimp scrap. I didn't send it back because at this point, everyone's food was lousy so I had no right to expect something tasty from that kitchen. I boxed what I didn't eat then tossed it in the garbage. One of our friends ordered lobster ravioli. Again, really bad. Main problem here was the doughy-pasty ravioli shells. I don't know if he finished it or not, but he sure had issues with it. Forgot to mention that the shrimp in my shrimp cocktail was on the tough side. Overcooked. Oh, I got a $1 credit because it was pasta Tuesday. Yay! Now where's the pasta? A friend of mine recommended Pullman's and when I gave her the report afterwards, she was embarrassed and apologetic. Felt terrible. So in wrapping up, PULLMAN'S, step up your game. Get a (talented) chef and fine-tune your wait staff. You have a gorgeous, stunning venue and people will come in because of it...one time. I've lived in Appleton for about 7 months and never tried Pullman's out because of the reviews on Yelp. Tonight a group of friends wanted to go, and I was reluctant but went anyway! I was so pleasantly surprised by everything - the atmosphere (the gorgeous building, a patio on the water with beautiful string lights), a great waiter who consistently checked on us, buttered bread they brought out before our meals, and the delicious food! I had the Potstickers and loved them (I was in between these and the quesadillas). My friend next to me ordered the quesadillas and loved them as well. The meals were all decently sized and everyone enjoyed the food. Don't judge this place based on some of the negative reviews. We loved it and will hopefully be back! read more

My sister ordered some bruchetta and it had a petso sauce on it which looks like something I've bought at costco. I then ordered the caprese salad which had the same pesto sauce on it. I wasn't the only one in our group that was less than impressed with the food. Not only did the price seem unfair the food wasn't even remotely impressive beyond what you could get at a a low class dinner. We also had some slow service. First of all you can't beat the view. We had dinner for 5 and sat outside. Our server was extremely friendly and everyone in our party was happy with their meal. The haddock and garlic mashed potatoes were especially great. My only critique is that with the tables pushed right up against tall flower stands those sitting near them had problems with bugs during our dinner. Beat outside dining in the Fox Valley. Undisputedly the worst food in the Valley too. We try this place one or twice a summer for the nice outdoor seating but always regret the decision when we look at the menu for what's in store. Went for the "safe" choice tonight with pizza and bar appetizers. Fried combo was an overpriced bar app which I'll pay for for the atmosphere. The pizza tastes like a partially cooked frozen Pizza from Walmart. I struggle with this place and wish new ownership on it. Also. Beware of spiders at this place. Apparently they don't spray for spiders and had the largest spider in Wisconsin land on my lap during dinner. Between avoiding bees and spiders we had enough and won't be back. read more

Trying to go a "lighter way" in my fare selection this Sunday afternoon, I think I made a mistake--oops. The lobster bisque is good, but not great, the outdoor seating with a view of the locks, however spectacular, has the unavoidable eye sore of the freeway passing overhead. I got my favorite salad with seared ahi tuna and by the time I got home my face was as red as the communist flag. My stomach started to turn and I knew immediately what happened. Scombroid. 5 stars for the patio alone. I haven't actually eaten here... But this patio is a gem in the summer months. Drinks were good, especially the mules, and it's a great spot to watch an acoustic band on a sunny summer day. This restaurant is located on the fox river in Appleton near Lawrence University and the dam. There is an outdoor patio in summer. They've been there more than 12 years I believe. I'd bet the decor and uniforms have not changed much since then. I found the food to be fine and they have Karben 4 on tap so That put a smile on my face. I had a seared ahi tuna salad that was fine albeit slightly over cooked. My mom had a burger which she said was good. Dad had a chop salad and said the same. The waitress was friendly. Went here with my girlfriend recently, and was impressed with the food, but less so with some other small things. Service from the wonderful Abbey was impeccable, with a smiley, cheery demeanour and the skill of checking up to see that drinks were topped up and food tasted right at exactly the right moments, without being annoying - Something a lot of wait-staff really need to learn! The addition of a 'Thank You!' with her name on the receipt was a nice touch to show your gratuity was appreciated. I like when wait-staff personalise the service like this, instead of being 'fake nice' in order to secure a good tip. The food was great, and decently priced. The bad: We were seated outside, and while I understand the change of seasons to summer may bring about some bugs, dead bugs (and dead bug stains) littering the concrete outside is not pleasant. A quick hose-down each morning (including the tables and chairs) would work wonders. The cutlery I was supplied was not cleaned properly, and had dried leaf (lettuce) stuck to it. Most likely from being washed in an industrial washer without being properly rinsed first. The table was wobbly, as the plastic foot for one of the legs was broken off. It was nearby and I re-affixed it, but really, things like this should be checked when the tables are set up each morning. The table looked pretty worse for wear, and the shearing point showed it had been broken like this for some time. I witnessed another staff member watering hanging plants next to a table that had people sitting at it, with the water splashing all around the ground next to to the table. It didn't hit the people dining, but really? Is it not possible to do this when people aren't sitting a just two feet away? While I may be harsh, when people go out to nice places to eat, they don't go for a meal - that can be had at home. People go out to nice places to eat for an experience. With a couple of refinement improvements, this place will be a much more pleasant one. read more

Over priced food and sub-par service. My last visit to Pullman's was nothing short of a disaster. As a result the manager gave me a gift card for my next visit. We were greeted by our waiter that seemed to be more interested in getting done with his shift than getting his tables served. I ordered an old fashioned, and the other person at my table ordered a beer. My old fashioned was obviously made from a premix bottle. The soda was flat as well. We started with the Asiago Dip with Pita Strips. The dip was fantastic, one of my favorites. However, the pita strips that were served with it were bad. Half of them were soaked in grease and very chewy. The other half was burned to the point that they crumbled when I tried to dip them. For dinner, I ordered the Surf 'n Turf and a bowl of Lobster Bisque. A 10 ounce tenderloin ordered Medium, with "stretched and Thai'd" shrimp and fries. The Lobster Bisque was fantastic. Very flavorful and full of lobster pieces, real lobster pieces. The seasoned fries were very good. Well seasoned and crunchy. The shrimp were fantastic and the dipping sauce (the Thai part of the dish) has quite a punch! The steak, unfortunately, fell short. It was cooked perfect, but served cold. There really wasn't much flavor either. It was served with a cup of...something. The waiter couldn't tell me what it was either. I asked, and all he could say was, "I don't know, maybe a sauce for your steak?" I thought maybe it was aujus, but it too, had no flavor. Throughout our entire meal, the waiter never stopped back to check on things. I would have asked for a bottle of steak sauce to help with the steak. After serving our meal, then next time we saw our waiter was when he brought the bill. He did ask how things were, and I told him it was just OK. He asked about deserts, which we declined. I did find it odd that he had our check printed up already, as if he expected us to say no. As we left our table and walked past the hostess station toward the exit, three hostesses were standing there glued to their cell phones. Not one of them looked up to say "thank you" or "have a good night". I thought, for the price of our dinner, we would have been made to feel more like a guest, rather than an inconvenience. read more

The interior of this place is really cool with a trolley car right there when walk you inside. Disclaimer: we were here for a private event so were in a private room, ate from a buffet, not off the regular menu. Our room had a wall of windows with a fantastic view of the river. There was one person replenishing the buffet (for 60 people) and he did a great job. I was in line as several of the entrees were depleted and he was there with refills without having to be asked. We enjoyed pasta (fusilli) in tomato sauce with chicken pieces, beef tips in tasty gravy, mashed potatoes (everyone loved these), sautéed veggies (another favorite), steamed fish (not sure what kind - not popular), salad and rolls. For dessert there was a plate of various bars. Only complaint here was there was one piece per person and you might not get what you wanted to try. If you don't know where this is located you might just pass it by. The building use to be a trolly station/maintenance area in the early 20th century. It then became a warehouse which went out of business. The warehouse was torn down and the restaurant was built. A large menu, very clean and large inside. Waitstaff is attentive and kind. I had the seared ahi over wild and white rice. So, so yummy! And big portions. In Cali the portion would have been half the size and twice as much. Do yourself a favor and treat your tastebuds to this restaurant's fate. read more

Went to Pullman's on a night that was homecoming and Restaurant Week. Plus they had 2 weddings. The service was terrible in that it took forever to get anything. Our waitress was new and doing her best but it was clear the kitchen was overwhelmed. There were long gaps between courses and when the mains arrived they were all cold. However it was obvious that if the food had been fresh and timely it would have been excellent. Absolutely would love to give Pullman's another try but would be more careful with the day.
