The interior of this place is really cool with a trolley car right there when walk you inside. Disclaimer: we were here for a private event so were in a private room, ate from a buffet, not off the regular menu. Our room had a wall of windows with a fantastic view of the river. There was one person replenishing the buffet (for 60 people) and he did a great job. I was in line as several of the entrees were depleted and he was there with refills without having to be asked. We enjoyed pasta (fusilli) in tomato sauce with chicken pieces, beef tips in tasty gravy, mashed potatoes (everyone loved these), sautéed veggies (another favorite), steamed fish (not sure what kind - not popular), salad and rolls. For dessert there was a plate of various bars. Only complaint here was there was one piece per person and you might not get what you wanted to try. I ate at Pullman's as part of a group event. I was pleased to see their gluten-free menu which, while not creative, was sufficient. Items included steak, fish, bunless burgers, grilled chicken. I ordered the petite tenderloin with steamed broccoli and found it nicely done and tasty. The restaurant is in Trolley Square, which means it's served by the Downtown Cool Trolley. It runs every 20 minutes 6 days/week (no Sundays), is free, and is lots of fun to ride. There's also a huge parking lot and seating on the patio by the Fox River as well as indoor seating. Our service was a little slow, but our waitress was doing her best & she maintained a polite, friendly demeanor throughout. Their menu is huge, great selection. The drink list was fun, too. On nice days they have an outdoor seating area right near one of the locks of the Fox River. The place was beautiful inside & out. I only had a grilled chicken salad, but it was great. My boyfriend had a burger & an appetizer ("crabsquetta," which I wasn't a big fan of, but I don't like a lot of seafood.) and he loved both. If you don't know where this is located you might just pass it by. The building use to be a trolly station/maintenance area in the early 20th century. It then became a warehouse which went out of business. The warehouse was torn down and the restaurant was built. A large menu, very clean and large inside. Waitstaff is attentive and kind. I had the seared ahi over wild and white rice. So, so yummy! And big portions. In Cali the portion would have been half the size and twice as much. Went to Pullman's on a night that was homecoming and Restaurant Week. Plus they had 2 weddings. The service was terrible in that it took forever to get anything. Our waitress was new and doing her best but it was clear the kitchen was overwhelmed. There were long gaps between courses and when the mains arrived they were all cold. However it was obvious that if the food had been fresh and timely it would have been excellent. Absolutely would love to give Pullman's another try but would be more careful with the day. I was recently back in Wisconsin visiting family. My sister and brother in law took us to Pullman's for dinner. Malik was our server great service and great humor. I ordered my steak sandwich very rare and it was perfect. Very fair prices on both the meals and drinks. read more

The patio is great, right on the water, but they allow smoking out there, just something to be aware of. Service was slow, but that was kind of what we were looking for, so maybe it was one of those crazy like a fox sort of things from our server. Food was very good- perch plate was very good, fries are seasoned. The jumbo shrimp were excellent, and the crab was outstanding. Don't bother with the bread- it isn't heated and is kinda crappy. My friend and I came for a light dinner and drinks. Our waitress asked if my friend wanted a double for an additional $1.50 (it was a top shelf liquor) and she said sure. After the second and after ordering a third the waitress apologized and said she was new but the doubles were each an additional $2.50 and did she want us to have her talk to the manager for an adjustment and we said yes. The waitress came back and said the manager refused to do anything about it. Customer service? Not! Be prepared 7.50, 7.50, $9.00 = $25.29 with tax. read more

This is by far the worst restaurant you could visit in the fox cities. Not only is the service absolutely disappointing, but the food somehow matches it. Walk in and see an outdated restaurant that reflects a vision of an owner who gave up in the mid 1990s and stay for the mediocre food. This place is great for large gatherings and small. They definitely have a great patio area that overlooks the river. A comfortable vibe inside as well. In a lot of restaurants they are trying to make use of every square foot (which makes sense) but you feel like you have a little space to breathe here which I love. In addition the food is great and reasonably priced! Love this place for a date night but I've also taken family from out of the area here and they loved it! I don't drink so I can't speak to the cocktails, but whenever we have gone with people who do they say they are great :) read more

We had lunch on the patio and everything about it was fantastic! The service was great - attentive but not overbearing. The food was wonderful - we all had something different (there were 5 of us) and everyone loved their entree! The location is great, plenty of parking. The food menu is decent, a large variety. Wait outside and you can hop on the trolley to head down to college ave, which is an added perk. The outdoor seating arrangement is pretty nice. There are a select number of seats with fire pits next to them. Drinks are an OK value considering the view of the fox and the overall atmosphere. The place does have a large chain feeling to it...even though I think this is the only restaurant with the Pullmans name around. The place is quite large, maybe that has to do with why it feels like a large chain restaurant. Food is good. There really is not anything on the menu that screams at you to try, rather a large assortment of sandwiches and fish. I think the location, atmosphere, and level of service are what keeps me coming back. read more

This place used to be our favorite. We had our first date here and even had our wedding reception here almost 6 years ago - however a lot has changed since then. The bar staff and receptionist and even our waiter were awesome - it's the kitchen that needs help. We had a party of 8 on Saturday night and placed our orders along with a few appetizers. When everyone's food came out - it came out on 3 separate trays, all within 5 minutes of each other. However when it came to the last try - with what I hoped to be my walleye I ordered because I received my side of fries on the first tray from 10 minutes before - there was an order of coconut shrimp. After confusion from the poor waiter that was just bringing the food out for our waitress, another 10 minutes passed and our waitress informed me they had burned my walleye and it would be out shortly. 10 more minutes and a table full of people who were done eating their food my walleye cane out - slightly undercooked and full of bones unfortunately. Our waitress was kind enough to comp that meal however there is a lot to be desired when it comes to the level of service out of the kitchen there. read more

Last evening we ate at Pullmans. Ti was very busy for a Monday night. This was explained to us ny both the hostess and waitress. This would explain why it took so long for our meal. When it arrived, the French fries were cold and old. My husband's meal was very poor. The chicken breast was tough and dry and the potatoes were instant potatoes. They did comp his meal. This did not really make up for the long wait. The food here is usally good nut last night was a fail. read more

We've visited several times in the past few years. Every time we've gone here or order has been messed up or service has been terribly slow and uninviting. The last time we visited we had our dog with us and asked to hostess to sit on the patio, she was extremely curt and uninviting in informing us that they didn't allow dogs AT ALL on their patio outside. I get that every restaurant has its policies and I'm ok with that but the tone and generally uninviting way she addressed us made us very uncomfortable and determined never to visit again. Wife's chicken was very tough. Not even sure how you make chicken tough when it's smothered unless it was freezer burned. Peas on both plates were freezer burned. Just kind of typical for this place. Good food, great scenery! There are not many places in the Fox Cities where you can sit by the river and enjoy a cocktail and food. The new waterfall patio is beautiful! I can't wait for the weather to warm up so we can go enjoy the view again. Food is good for the price. The staff is friendly. They take reservations and will help you host a party - birthday, shower, etc. I've been to several baby/bridal showers there. Waterfront Banquets is also in Trolley Square. Pullman's At Trolley Square - Appleton, WI First time out as a group of 8 since the Covid. Made reservations and waited in the bar area for all of our group to arrive. (Most of us were from out-of-town). It was happy hour until 6pm. Ordered drinks around 5:20pm. At 5:50 pm. we flagged down a bartender to order more drinks as our party of 8 had arrived. The 6'2" skinny male bartender said he would be right with us. He circled the bar 3 times within 20 minutes, and purposely stood on the opposite end of the bar chatting with the other bartenders as we waited. It wasn't that busy in the bar either, and we couldn't understand why it was taking so long to get service. He finally came over about 6:20pm. We told him that we still wanted to get in on the happy hour specials since we had been patiently waiting for him to take our order before happy hour ended. He knew that it was true, but he decided to throw his arms up in the air and shout "HAPPY HOUR ENDED AT 6, YOUR'RE TOO LATE AND I DON'T MAKE THE RULES HERE!". It was very embarrassing. He made sure everyone in the bar area heard him as well. I'm sure he knows that this review is about him. He must know now why he didn't get a single tip after the three rounds of drinks we ordered. There is no need to be that rude to customers! If Pullmans wants to run a good business, they should get rid of this guy. The bartenders need to work on their customer service skills. Food was very good. Waitress was very nice, although she didn't know what the Friday specials were. Probably won't come back. :( read more

I love the location down by the river and the food is pretty good. I did book their location for a large party of 75 plus people and the original reservation was lost. They were able to give us a private room for our party. There were some things accidently left behind by guests, and the staff did not return phone calls for the mementos to be retrieved. read more

We wanted to enjoy an evening on a patio in Appleton. Monday night We should have left right from the start. It was bad from the time we arrived until the time we left. With the other options in the area we would never go back to Pullmans. Our server was Cody and he gave the worst service I have ever received, Rude and not trained well. From 1- bringing bread without butter and when we ask he still never brought over. 2- forgot to put order in and it took 1 hr. to get entrees, to bringing the wrong drink and having to replace it not once but twice. 3- getting a microwaved piece of pre-bought & pre-cooked chicken breast with bought marinara sauce. 4- had to ask for twice for bill 5- to letting him no that we received bad service and his commit was sorry felt that you got bad service. Management and owners should look at the service side of there business first and then work on making products rather then buying pre-made products from Sysco or other broadline suppliers. read more

Where do I begin? The last time I was here, (June 7, 2014) I ordered a deep fried walleye sandwich. I didn't think It was possible to screw up a deep fried dish fillet. I was wrong. Overcooked trash. The server asked us how "everything was?", It was so bad, I didn't even lie to him like I usually do with bad food. I told him I was very displeased. Didn't even ask for new food as I was fairly confident it would be sub-par. Lobster Bisque had absolutely no chunks of lobster or any seafood for that matter. It was also very salty. The only thing that was even close to edible was the appetizer. Crab Dip. Once again no meat. Nearly 100% cream cheese. For some reason my mother likes this place. This is the only reason I was subjected to this culinary abomination. Will never come back. Beautiful place, great location, disgusting food. And I mean, truly disgusting. This was my third and last time here. The final straw. I Can't believe a place with such tasteless, poorly cooked food is still open. If you are all about atmosphere and not good food, dine here. Waste your money in a different fashion. Burn it. It will be much more satisfying. read more

My family and I have eaten here several times. My 89 yr. old Mom loves it! The food is always good and the waitstaff is friendly, patient and well trained. They need to be when dealing with a party of 14, who all want separate checks. The food is along the lines of a Chili's or TGI Friday's. Sat there for 20-minutes, before I stopped a server and asked if we actually had a server assigned to our table, she said she would check. She came back at 5:25, as said "I guess I'm your server." She brought drinks and took our order. At 6:20 (almost an hour later!) I caught her again and let her know we had to be out no later than 6:45! Food arrived at at 6:30 - accept for one meal, which arrived at 6:40. Our dinner mate sat there watching the rest of us eat and then when she got her food had to wolf down part of it and take the rest to go. The manager took it off our bill - but, I'd rather have had good service. This is the second time in three weeks that I have had poor service. Every time I went to Pullman's, I loved it. it is a great location down by the locks, with a fantastic patio on the water. Sit outside if you can, but make sure to bring your sunglasses! The staff was always friendly and quick to refill your drink. I had tired many items on the menu, but my favorite was always the Pecan Crusted Chicken. The crusting was always crispy and the chicken always tender.In my opinion, the loaded mashed potatoes are the best side option to get with any meal. read more

We went on a Friday evening, later around 7:30 thinking it wouldn't be too busy. And it really wasn't. We wanted to sit outside so we waited for a table, maybe 25 minutes, but no problem as they did offer an inside table immediately and we declined. We sat down (a party of 4) and were given menus. We never saw another server the entire time we sat there. 3 of the 4 of us had empty drinks, we never even got water. We waited well over 20 minutes to never get any service. We got up and walked out without even being acknowledged. Very disappointed and will not be returning. Too bad because it is a great location with what used to be good food/service. read more
