Went with some family to try out the chicken. We did make a reservation so there was no wait time. We were seated right away and really enjoyed our meal. We ordered the orange chicken rice bowl and 5 1/2 chicken plates. The orange dates is a bit spicy so it was ordered on the sidecars the bowl was very good. Lots of veggies, some rice and tender chicken pieces. The chicken plates were very generous. The fried chicken was very good. Crispy and had good flavor. You pick think 2 sides with the plates. There were several to choose from. Mac and cheese, salad, potato and gravy, coleslaw and a few otters. We also had the thigh chicken fries. Strips of chicken thighs breaded and fried. They were plentiful and very good. Lots of other apps and several beers and cocktails . There is a bar up sit at and a generous amount of tables. Gluten free heaven!! I haven't had fried chicken in so long! I got the orange chicken rice bowl and it was big, and full of such yummy veggies. We had a fun night sitting on the patio,, but the food was just ok. The deviled eggs were so salty and not because of the bacon, but the egg mixture tasted like a salt lick. The chicken was delicious, but coleslaw with green peppers and so sweet was something I was not a fan of. The beets and sweets were covered in red pepper flakes and were almost inedible. My Bourbon in Bloom cocktail looked beautiful, but the taste was just way too floral. Our server was slammed so we ended up with a nice guy helping us out at the beginning, and then we became an afterthought. I've been to so many Big Red F restaurants over the years and this was an incredibly disappointing culinary experience, but the atmosphere was fun and lively. read more

My husband and I dropped in for a late lunch. I'm a huge fan of fried chicken, and this is some of the best I've found in metro Denver. Though, last time I went to the Denver location we left disappointed because of a drop in quality. I was hesitant to go back, but our experience at this location felt like the old Post I remember when they first opened. I had a basic witch martini, which was a fun seasonal treat. My husband got their Pilsner. We both got salads and shared a half bird. We had plenty leftover to take home for dinner. Service was prompt and friendly. Also, we appreciated the roominess of this location compared to the Denver location as well. It was a lowkey vibe, which was perfect for what we were in the mood for. Triple D rates this place in the top 10 in the country for Fried Chicken, so we had to give it a try. Reservations are recommended because by 5:30 pm on Sunday they were almost full. Service was fast and easy, server was pleasant too. I notice they helped each other the entire time we were there. It brews its own beers so we each had a drink, both were good pours in great glasses. Ordered the roasted Brussels sprouts for app, it's large enough for two or three people. Roasted just right, balsamic with cojita cheese sprinkled on top. Very good flavor. I ordered the four piece fried chicken dinner that comes with one side, a cheddar biscuit, and some excellent house made dill Pickles. The chicken was superb; very crispy but did not taste or smell near burnt as many do. They brine their bird for a minimum of four hours and you could taste the result in every bite. It's not often you can "taste" the chicken all the way to the bone. Was it crispy? The crispiest of the three top ten places I've tried to date. The flavor of the meat sends it to the top. My wife had the 3 piece tenders which were almost a half a breast each in size. Not quite as crisp as the chicken but still had a crisp bite and great breading and chicken flavor. Her French fries were average but she said My biscuit was great since I did not even get a bite of it. Large pieces of chicken is the rule. My side was hatch green chili Mac & Cheese. It was good but not at the level of the bird. We are here on a Monday night and the servers were all lovely. Very quiet in the restaurant. Never had been but had heard that it was a popular spot. We ordered the half bird with a side of mashed potatoes, some mac & cheese for my daughter, and an Amber beer. It was all good. Solid food, but nothing amazing. I would not necessarily return if I was in the area. I had to get up and ask the server for sauces. I had heard that the hot sauces were an important part of the experience, but the waitresses didn't seem too concerned about it. The half salad was not great. I've been to The Post Chicken & Beer several times. Mostly for takeout and for the most part I've been happy with the quality of the chicken and salad. They have some delicious bowl and salad that are very tasty. I'm not a huge fan of their fried chicken skin and their hummus. But everything else including the biscuits are super yummy. I've been meaning to try their fried chicken so maybe one of these days after a long hour in the gym, I'll consider a cheat meal there. Overall I do recommend this place. Solid stop for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Gorgeous fall day and we sat out on the patio. Salads were solid - great variety and really interesting and tasty ingredient combinations. Beer selection is great and we enjoyed sipping them outside. Friendly staff, although we had a server and her manager both tending to us, which was a little odd....and it was a little uncomfortable when the manager asked (me and my husband) if we wanted separate checks. Had been craving some good fried chicken and this place is just about midway from Denver International Airport to Estes Park so it seemed meant to be our first stop for an early dinner. They quickly accommodated our party of 7 during a Saturday lunch. We were greeted promptly by a very polite waitress who helped us navigate through the menu as first timers. To start off we tried the deviled eggs. Some of the best deviled eggs I've ever tasted. They lasted only SECONDS at the table. Definitely a must if you stop by here! The Post used to be the best place in Colorado for fried chicken. I am not sure what has happened over the last few years, but the chicken and only the chicken has fallen off the wagon. The chicken is dry as sand, and the breading is drier. The sides are fantastic. The green chili mac and the mashed potatoes were legit. Their coleslaw is on point. We started with the Crispy Cauliflower. It is saucy and delicious. The fried chicken and the chicken tenders were so dry, we needed to ask for extra sauce to get through it. The service was amazing, the sides were amazing, but your one main dish that everyone comes to the Post to eat is lacking. The Longmont location is not the only location this has happened to. Even the flagship in Layafette is dry. 2 stars because the service and sides are fire. Your main dish needs help. read more

The Post is a small chain located in Colorado with locations in Denver (Rosedale and LoHi), Lafayette, Longmont, Boulder, Estes Park and Fort Collins. There is something on the menu for everybody: healthy-ish salad, chicken strips and of course fried chicken. There are some timing issues, your fries may not be hot when your sandwich is finally ready. Post-hike at Horsetooth Open Space, Marissa C and I made our way to The Post to satisfy or hungry bellies. THE SPACE/ATMOSPHERE: The outside features a large uncovered patio space. They do have umbrellas to help shade the tables from the Colorado sun. Inside there's booths, tables, and bar seating available. A chalkboard menu by the door share the specials with you. The decor is simple Americana-esque with mason jar light shades and repurposed logs as light fixtures. Very cozy. THE DRINKS: After an early hike, we almost always have bloody marys to celebrate our achievement. This time was no different. We both chose the classic bloody mary and made it spicy. Yum! The spicy rim salt that they use is delicious! The Post also offers their own line of brews, including a killer Mexican lager - Top Rope. THE EATS: Hoping to score brunch, only to discover that they only offer their brunch menu on weekends, and it was Thursday. We didn't let that turn us away. We both opted for meals on their lunch/dinner menu. I chose to nosh on the post fried chicken sandwich (Nashville hot): pickled pepper relish, and dijonnaise. Yum! While the Nashville hot wasn't quite the heat I was expecting, it was definitely a delicious upgrade to an already tasty sandwich. The fries were perfectly sliced, fried, and salted. Marissa C chose the sausage sandwich offered on their specials menu that day. THE SERVICE: We were one of three tables during our visit. The staff was occupying their downtime with a variety of cleaning tasks. However, we found ourselves waiting for water refills, boxes, and our check more than you'd expect given the lack of guests during our time there. The food is what you'll find at any Post location. Three stars for the food, which is tasty. However the women tending the pick up order area are consistently rude. We have been frequent patrons of this location, however today was the last time we will visit this establishment. Several times when we've ordered carry out from this location, our order has been missing the side items or the cookies for our kids meals, and they never provide enough chicken tender sauce despite our ask that more be included. When we pick up our order and check the bag for accuracy, the staff makes rude comments, questioning why we would do that. Today, in addition to the missing items from our order, there was a black hair in my coleslaw (gag). We won't be back. read more

It was not only delicious but the biscuit may have been the best biscuits I've had. I'd put them above Red Lobster biscuits which I put in very high regard. First time to The Post Chicken and Beer and was very nice lunch dining experience. The staff is very friendly and very busy as this is a smaller restaurant located in Longmont, Colorado. Used Open Table reservations as since is featured on the Triple D program, the place can get busy with a wait. Reservations worked great, and they had our table ready for 6 when we arrived for a reservations time. Service was quick in the beginning, but tapered off during the meal as the restaurant filled up with the only thing really missing was a refill or reorder on the variety of drinks, water, ice tea and beers. Other than that, the food was all wonderful, with fresh ingredients and served at the correct temperatures. Started with Thighfries (strips of chicken thighs battered and fried perfectly) and Brussel Sprouts, both were hot from the kitchen and very nice sized and tasty appetizers. The table order a variety of lunch entrees, from salads, sandwich, combo plates and a kids' meal. All were well prepared and a nice portion of lunch. The chicken as portrayed on the Triple D show didn't disappoint with a flavorful and moist fried chicken, with the combo lunch plate having a good size serving of 2 pieces of chicken, side salad (half size of The Post salad) and a cheddar biscuit. Salads had a nice portion too, which was filling for lunch. The kids' Chicken Tender plate is worth mentioning, with 2 large chicken pieces, Mac and Cheese, and of course a delicious soft chocolate cookie. Overall, a very good meal when you are in the mood of some nice comfort food and friendly service. I would definitely return if I found myself back in Longmont. Tips for your visit: Use the Open Table reservations due to the size of the dining area and make sure you try something from their chicken options. read more

Starting off, the service at this place was actually not bad. We were treated fairly and the food came out quickly. This review is based on the food only. We ordered a buffalo fried chicken sandwich and the CBLT (chicken blt). The chicken was really thin on both sandwiches and they didn't have that many ingredients. The sandwich's were not great and if you were to ask if I would recommend this place to a friend it would be a hard no.
