Staff needs to work on communication when booking reservations. We called on a Thursday to make reservations for 2 tables for this Saturday. it was an important celebration and once we got there the hostess said that the reservation was for Friday instead of Saturday. Their only attempt to resolve their mistake was to sit us outside with no heaters on a cold windy night. Will not return read more

We sat in this restaurant for over 2 hours and barely even got our spinach dip. Getting our drinks wasn't a problem but we ordered our food and never got it. We left some money on the table and left (I'm sure it was enough to cover what we got). Customer service was very friendly and the place was cozy. Great musical selection, too. They undercooked the steak I ordered but made it up by giving my date and I an amazing dessert and gave me a well cooked steak. The wine selection was also amazing. The mofongo cups were so amazing!! Churrasco and fried plantains with a special sauce. And the dessert.... O. M. G. Soñando en Santiago. A mix of tres cake and a touch of basil made this dessert SPECTACULAR!!! read more

I was very excited to try this place. I went in with my boyfriend and ordered the shrimp mofongo while he got the bistec encebollado. Both plates were EXTREMELY salty. We literally took no more than 4 bites of each. I only complained about the monfogo and was still charged for food I barely touched. Sadly won't be returning. read more

One star for the service. Five for your food. Went there a few weeks ago. It's not the food as much as the service. Food was great. The hostess doesn't speak English. The owner came to our table to greet us and stood there taking to us for over 20 minutes even after we received our meal. Awkward! The whole front staff was stuck on their phones. Our food was done on time as I saw it on the metal table yet it sat there for 10 minutes and the chef was apparently telling her to take the plate to the table. I had a direct view of the kitchen. I like to see who touches my food. Your chef was very well groomed and in very clean uniform and a baseball cap. Gloves on all the time. His assistant, a woman, not so much. She was cutting raw chicken with no gloves or hairnet. Her appearnace was very sloppy. I saw her in the back smoking as I was parking. Did she wash her hands? I might go again. I cannot believe the prices! $14 dollars for a burger and $2 for a can of soda mind you this is on broad street in the south side of providence with a capacity of 30-40 people. Went when they were on reservoir ave once never again. Came to this one because wife was craving Latin food. Hear the food is great and also takes them extremely long to bring food. My boyfriend and I visited Punta Cana Bistro on Friday, 2/10/16. We were really excited to come in, as we love the other Dominican restaurants in the area, but we wanted a nicer dining experience. I would rate 2 stars, except the food was exceptional. The service was a different story. We were greeted and sat in a timely manner. The server assigned to us was a young woman. While ordering our drinks, she was wiping her nose with her hand repeatedly. I understand that it is flu season, and that a runny nose is natural, however; excuse yourself and blow your nose. Wash your hands. People would understand that and appreciate the cleanliness. Secondly, I ordered a white sangria, and she looked at me like I had 5 heads. She asked what kind of wine I wanted in it. I responded, "white". I thought, 'it's fine. She must be new. The bartender will know how to make it.' And then I saw her make the drink. It came out pink and tasted only of wine, but it was drinkable, so I did not complain. We ordered an entree for two. As this server brought our plates to the table, she was talking on a cell phone. I could not believe it. I have served in restaurants for almost 10 years and I have never encountered anyone who would do this. Even if one has not been in the dining industry long, she should know better than that. In addition to this, we originally thought the portions were too small, until we got the bill. The server ordered the single portion of the meal. I am not sure that I would want to come back to this restaurant. I would give it another chance, only because the food was delicious. Maybe take out. But at that point, you'd have better luck down the road at La Gran Parada. read more

One of our new favorite restaurants. We go there at least once a week! Try the surf & turf board. We pair it with the 5 cheese risotto. LOVE this place. GREAT food. Live performers are often there, too. Just a wonderful spot. And, we never had to search for street parking near the restaurant when we've gone there. If you don't know Providence, parking is a big deal. Also, while there is no bad calimari in RI, Punta Cana's is at the top! Grilled, no breading, and the most wonderful light spice. read more

I live half a block from here. Ok yea from the outside it looks like a cute place. I get this is a heavily ethnic area and it is an ethnic restaurant. I get it. One day I wanted a glass of ride wine and to try an ethnic dish. (Their menu is in english) when I tried to order the red wine. The only English anyone spi me was enough top say they don't speak English. Oh nice. You have a restaurant in America and not one employee speaks English. And I don't mean to sound horrible. Went out with my wife and father in laws. We sat down at 5:35pm. There wasn't more then six other patrons eating. By 6:15pm my in laws food came out. At 6:44pm my wife and I food still wasn't on our table. I got up spoke to the server and management and told them " we came here to eat as a family, and I can't understand how it takes over a hour to a cook my steak and salmon dinner for my wife?" After two stellar dinners here, Punta Cana has cemented its place on our list of restaurants to be regulars at. The cocktails are generous, delicious, and reasonably priced. We went to this place twice. The first time just me and my girlfriend and the Server sucked she didn't know what she was doing. The second time we went as a group of 15 and they couldn't handle it. They didn't want us to order appetizers. I will never go back to this place. Horrible service and food. I'll rather go to La Grand Parada or a different Dominican Restaurant on Broad Street where you will get better service and food for a cheaper price. I'm surprised they are still open. read more

I have been to Punta Cana Bistro on two occasions one for drinks and appetizers, which was not bad. The drinks are not priced on the menu the drink I had was $40. The restaurant is overpriced, the quality and quantity of the dinner plates is very poor. My second visit was for dinner and I have to say that I was very disappointed, the only good part of my dinner was the mojito. I ordered the "Mofongo de Churasco" the Churrasco was not tender at all and the seasoning was very poor, there was no taste to it at all. The second plate was "Bistec encebollado con tostones" which the Bistec (steak) was also not tender and poor in seasoning, the tostones (fried plantains) were horrible. It seemed that they fried in cold oil as they were supper greasy. Dominican Cuisine is very delicious when cooked right, un-tasteful Dominican food is not good it is like eating cardboard. This is the food of my culture as I am not speaking on a cuisine that I am not familiar with. read more
