It's a hidden gem at Tombstone. It's actually really close to all the main attractions, but somehow it didn't seem to get enough attention. Food: The food is amazing! The ribs are actually as good as Texas Roadhouse, with better sauce. We had their trio -- 1/3 rack of ribs, two choices of meat (each for 4 oz), 1 side, 1 drink. For the choices of meat, we got brisket 4 oz times 2. The ribs were done perfectly -- falling off the bones. The brisket was very yummy too, especially with their habanero bbq sauce. The homemade coleslaw was good too. Service: I actually forgot to pull out the yelp 10% off deal when we paid. Then, I mentioned it. They were so kind -- they actually gave me the 10% refund. While we were eating, the owner stopped by, and asked if we were happy about the food. Of course we were. Then, he asked if they could do anything to improve. Wow! That's the attitude every business should have. I told them that they could advertise more widely to let more people know how awesome their food is (which is precisely why I am writing the review now). Wow! What else can I say? This place is GREAT! I've visited Tombstone 10-15 times over the past twenty years, and if there was one thing missing from this town in my opinion, it was great barbecue. To be honest, any barbecue at all. I never understood why this was the case, since Tombstone is nestled in the heart of the Wild West, where you expect to find an abundance of things like good barbecue, and great people. Here at Puny John's BBQ, you get both! The food was out in under two minutes! This place just impressed, every step of the way... Puny John's BBQ has immediately shot to the top of my favorite places to eat in Tombstone, everything about this place was amazing. The girls at the counter were friendly and helpful, we even got a 10% coupon off our meal this afternoon. I ordered the chopped beef brisket sandwich with a side of mac cheese and baked beans. Even the sides were amazing! First of all, the brisket. So good! The signature pink ring, evidence of smoking the meat the right way! Beef was tender, and moist. They offer three kinds of BBQ sauce at the condiment counter, all of them are flavorful and unique, I would buy bottles of the spicy one if it was available to purchase. The mac cheese was perhaps the best I have ever had, and the baked beans were as good as any I've ever had, and I've sampled Midwest BBQ, so I know. I was really impressed with this place, and have nothing negative to say. I hope people read this review before going to some of the other more well-known restaurants on Allen Street that are oriented to lure in the tourists who might otherwise not see or know of this new place to eat. This is perhaps the best food in all of Tombstone now, give Puny John's BBQ a chance! I don't think anyone will regret that choice. If the owner reads this, I would just like to say it was a very wise decision to open up a place that offers authentic barbecue in Tombstone, this is exactly what this town needed. We were in Tombstone for one reason on President's Day (big mistake crowd wise) but had been there many times and only wanted one thing - food. Picked Puny John's because it was a little off the main drag and reviews were good. We were NOT disappointed. Had pulled pork and smoked turkey (special of the day), with green beans, baked beans and potato salad. They were ALL amazing and we were trying to figure out a way to get big tubs of all to take on our travels but we had a very small cooler that made it not possible. The place was clean, staff was friendly and service was prompt. (And the weather was great so we could sit outside!) I will judge all future baked beans on Puny John's. They are so good employees sign a nondisclosure agreement. Bottom line - go to Puny John's. If we are back in the area again we will see you there! read more

Our group of 10 needed a place to eat before our walking tour with Dr. Jay so Puny Johns BBQ was perfect. We ordered at the counter after considering the special of the day. I picked Brisket sandwich. They call you when the meal which was quick. The food was great! I really liked the spicy bob sauce from the condiment bar. We had the privilege of having a look at Johns Smoker and saw where the magic happens. We came back after the tour and picked up the special of the day, chicken wings and a pint of hot bbq sauce with was a great snack for the trip home. We stopped by on our way home from Tombstone for a bite. It was a hour &1/2 before closing and they were out of a lot of stuff. You order and pay at the counter and they bring it to you. I ordered the nachos and hubby ordered the hotdog. The counter person barely spoke to us when ordering which was odd. The food was delivered fast and just plopped in front of us without a word. The nachos hat tons of Costco-like cheese and lots of chips but skimpy with everything else(maybe they were almost out?). Hubs hotdog good but, really, what can you do to a hotdog??? About 4:15 the staff loudly started closing and I felt rushed to finish as the frantic wiping of tables and clanging of chairs was a hint it was time to go. Was really hungry after a long drive and wanted barbecue. The food was overpriced and the food was so nasty. The potato salad, macaroni and pulled pork sandwiches were all huge disappointments. Allow me to paint a picture for you: it was Saturday evening, two of my esteemed colleagues and I, heartily fortified by libations from other unnamed establishments, were strolling down Allen Street. That's when it hit us. The savory, meaty odor of barbeque. We followed our olfactory senses to Puny John's (This was from nearly two blocks away, on a different street) Puny John's food was so perfect. I ordered the ribs with slaw. It was served quickly, and without fuss. There was a condiment area, which would allow customers to season their meals as they please. There was also an ample supply of napkins and wet wipes, if needed. John's homemade habanero bbq sauce was excellent. meals are currently being served al fresco, as Puny John's is currently fixing their hard location. All tables have an umbrella and citronella candles. Bottom Line: Puny John's serves outstanding barbecue quickly, affordably, and without pretension. Great BBQ in Tombstone! Drove down from Tucson for lunch today and decided to try Puny Johns for lunch. Have been following them on Facebook for awhile and thought we'd see what they were all about. Ordered the brisket sandwich and a pulled pork sandwich plate. First off, and most importantly, the meat was smoked well and tender. An assortment of BBQ sauces are available to try - we selected prickly pear and the sweet and spicy. Terrific tasting sauces but the meat stands up by itself and really doesn't need to have any sauce. On to the sides. Several sides are offered but you can't go wrong with the beans,which feature bacon and has a touch of sweetness from pineapple, along with the coldslaw that has a slight kick to it. Delicious barbecue! I had the pulled pork sandwich and this wasn't my first time to visit Puny's. Being from Virginia, this is a must to go to Puny's when visiting Tombstone. The only suggestion of change would be to add French fries to the menu and squirt bottles of their delicious variety of bbq sauces to each table instead of small plastic containers one must individually fill. Probably the best BBQ joint I've ever been to in my life. I got the ribs and my wife got the pulled pork. Both were absolutely amazing!! The Mac and cheese and coleslaw is incredible too. Not worth the price. We were looking for some good food in Tombstone and this place came highly recommended. As we entered, the customer service was very good but the food was sub par and definitely not worth the price. $20 for a brisket plate with 2 sides....not when the brisket was appropriately 2 tablespoons of fair brisket, Coke slaw (ok) and scalloped potatoes with black skins. Yuck...all way around, Also the Pumpkin Loaf was advertised as a daily special but sadly it was a pre packaged gas station type dessert. Don't waste your time at this place. read more

I really hate to do this... Maybe I caught you guys on a bad day... But this place was horrible... When in Tombstone, we saw BBQ and knew that's what we wanted for lunch. I ordered the chicken sandwich and spicy baked beans. The meat was disgusting- very bland and tasted old. I feel like my sandwich was pre-made because the bun was soaked to the point where it crumbled when I tried to pick it up. The baked beans were border line cold, so i didn't even eat them. They have a few different BBQ sauces to choose from but I didn't care for any of them. So, we where visiting tombstone and decide to try this place out. Wow the pulled pork was so moist just the way I like it! The ribs and brisket where also moist too. I like the way they offer different types of bbq sauces on the side so you can try to see what bbq flavors you would like to try. They have different sides and I like that they are all homemade in house and not out of a can or box! I especially like the potato salad. The sever at the register was friendly and made the visit fun and enjoyable. Sure glad I stopped in and tried them out. Fan-Freakin-Tastic! It was everything you would want in smoky delectable deliciousness! We went with the smoked chicken and ribs family deal, the chicken and ribs were absolutely perfect! The sides complimented the meat perfectly, we loved the spicy baked beans were not too spicy but a little kick, the spicy mac-n-cheese was unexpectedly great, the coleslaw and potato salad were exactly how my mom made it.
