I was looking forward to trying this spot, I stopped by twice. I wanted to try the rolls but they were not available at the time and I live about 45 mins away so I couldn't wait. I explained this to them and they let me try a few other things. The service was one of the friendliest and informative I've had. The lemonade was VERY good! I am a lemonade lover and it was one of the best! I tried their sweet potato pie, this was not what I am used to maybe bc it is vegan or plant based but my husband found it a clean flavor for his healthier life style. The Mac n cheese was about a 3 out of 5 for me, but again I may not be ready for plant based but it was good to be "healthier version". This spot did seem to be busy so I think that the food is enjoyably good for those who are into vegan and plant based. I wanted to try it bc I do t often. It didn't work out for me but please try it for yourself, this may be my singular lonely opinion and stepping outside of my familiar comfort zone didn't work for me. I'm from STL Midwest and this was very different for me. This review is based off of my take out delivery experience only! My husband and I were recovering from being sick so we ordered delivery from Soul Food after seeing that our friends shared an article about this restaurant. The food arrived nicely packaged and was quite possibly the best tasting vegan meal I have had in the Triangle! I got the Chicago burger with mac and cheese on the side and my husband got the NC BBQ Plate. I ALMOST CANNOT TELL MY BURGER WAS NOT REAL BEEF! And you can't even tell that the cheese in the burger isn't dairy!!! I am mindblown and it was a delicious burger that I wolfed down in less than 10 minutes hence why I don't have any pictures! The mac and cheese was also good, and did not have any artificial taste to it like the previous vegan place I tried! My husband's bbq plate was also delicious! I can tell the meat wasn't real, but it was still delicious!! He got collared greens and slaw along with cornbread, which were all pretty good as well! I have barely any dietary restrictions, but if there are more vegan restaurants that have food this good in the area I really don't see why I can't go vegan completely! read more

Wow. Amazing food. I got the fried fish plate with mac and cheese , rice , and cheese fries. It also comes with coleslaw. My partner got the Chiken sandwitch with a lettuce bun with huspuppies and sweet potato fries. When I tell you that food was amazing. It really was. We also got a serving of the soul rolls which were beyond my expectations. The vibe was nice in the restaurant they were playing soothing music. I ordered online and picked it up. I got a text saying that my order was ready so I didn't have to stand around and wait. I would go again. It is a pricy but the food was worth it. Everything here is fantastic. The wife and I ate here twice during our short visit to Durham so we could try as much as possible. And the staff was SO kind to us, especially on our first visit when we were having problems with our rental car. The standout dishes are definitely the cornbread with hot honey and the NC BBQ plate. I tried a variety of things, but my favorites were the vegan BBQ sandwich,  the kale cesar salad, and the soul rolls. The BBQ sandwich reminded me of the pork BBQ sandwiches I grew up on. It was flavorful, smokey, and juicy. They slaw was everything slaw is supposed to be and perfect on top. The kale cesar salad was crisp and tangy with crispy chickpeas instead of croutons. I love that it was tossed in the dressing, and they added some on top. The soul rolls are just in a league of their own! They are eggrolls with the BBQ, mac and cheese, and greens inside. AMAZING! I had a friend visit who is vegan and this place has been on my list to try. It did not disappoint! The space is small but there is plenty of seating both outside and indoors. When you arrive, you can order from the counter and have your food brought out to you. All food is placed in to go containers which makes for easier cleanup overall. I was sold on the soul rolls- Mac and cheese, bbq, and greens. It comes with a side of bbq sauce. These are soooo delicious and flavorful!! The soul rolls exceeded by expectations. And the greens were just as good! I snagged a bite of my friends mac and cheese too and it was sooo creamy. This place is easy to find and there is plenty of parking. I ordered the chicken strips platter. It comes with rice and you can select two sides. I picked kale caesar and collard greens. Also added the BBQ eggrolls. Chicken strips -- well seasoned, very "meat-like," I thought it would be tenders, but it was a chicken patty cut in strips. Rice -- yellow rice, fluffy, tasty Collards -- delicious! I enjoyed them very much. Surprised they are vegan and not seasoned with meat. Kale caesar -- the roasted chickpeas are a nice addition to give the salad crunch. So good! BBQ eggrolls -- OMG! I loved these. Egg rolls filled with BBQ, macaroni and cheese, and collards. I was so very pleased after leaving Pure Soul. I will definitely be back. We made the drive from Cary to Pure Soul this week after my lovely wife purchased a gift card. My brother was visiting from overseas. I am the only plant based eater in our group of four. I was a little dubious eating food that pertains to "copy" meat type foods like pork or chicken as I think there are so many other fantastic recipes out there that can stand on their own. The soul rolls are the bbq, mac and cheese, and I believe greens in an egg roll form. It comes with a bbq sauce on the side. These were very good. I love anything egg roll to begin with but these vegan items paired well together in an egg roll form. The burger tasted like other vegan burgers I've had before. It wasn't spectacular but it was good. They were out of one of the burgers one day but I ordered the Chicago one and it was good. The decor is so nice, there is a few outdoor seats and the inside has a few plants and colorful tables. It's just a fun vibe when you are there. This place is a vegan paradise with food that is amazing. I got the vegan wings and also a side of the fresh squeezed lemonade and it may have been one of the best meals I've had! They use a toothpick in the wings to make it more realistic and the rice is also very well flavored. They also have other condiments such as vegan ranch which pairs well with the wings. The lemonade is also very refreshing for a hot summers day. The staff was great and very helpful and the restaurant was very clean. SO DELICIOUS! The restaurant just opened up yesterday and since my fiancé is wanting to be 100% vegan, we had to give it a try. And truthfully, if I could make vegan food taste this good at home I would become 100% vegan myself. I got the fried chicken strips platter and he got the NC BBQ platter. The breading, flavor and texture of the chicken was spot on and same with the flavor and texture of the BBQ! The Mac and cheese had a wonderful "cheesy" yet smoky flavor to it. Location is in Durham, not far from the Target on Durham Chapel Hill Rd. I got the Southern fried vegan drumsticks, yellow rice, mac and cheese, cornbread, and local organic kale caeser salad. Everything is excellent. The drumsticks are spiced perfectly. The mac is stellar, really cheesy and the mac noodles are a little al dente and never overcooked.
