It would be so easy to indulge in all this bakery has to offer because everything looks so amazing! We narrowed our choices to a ham and cheese coissant, a raspberry sugar bomb pastry and a peanut butter cake. The coissant was flaky but the ham and cheese could've been more substantial. Generously filled, the sugar pastry hit the right notes without being overly sweet. The peanut butter cake was the winner as it encompassed a truely nutty flavour. It was very moist and the peanut butter icing provided that sweet nuance necessary. We accompanied our treats with a robust Americano - the perfect pairing. Delicious baked goods in a very neat not busy location. Lots of natural lighting, perfect place to hangout with your girlfriends! I got the pistachio loaf. My coworkers told me to give this a try as it was new in the neighbourhood. It's very spacious and looks trendy new. There's a wide range of goodies here like breads, scones, cookies, cakes, and brownies. For an average price of $5 for a treat, it's not a bad deal. I got myself a lemon chevre brownie as I have never had a brownie with goat's milk. A bite of this soft dessert was all it took to win my heart. I'm not fond of overly sweet chocolate, but this one finds its balance with the hint of chevre. There is a bit of a line up, but understandable as there's lots to look at. This spot has a nice environment and a good selection of baked goods. Since I'm not hugely into sweets, I opted for the loaded bun, which is topped with feta cheese, pesto and tomato. It tasted great. It was a little steep price wise at $6.65. It's basically a bagel with a few toppings. However, I noticed a lot of enticing sweets, like the lemon lavender loaf , carrot cake or tropical cake topped with good-looking cream cheese icing. I don't get the hype that surrounds Purebread. Sure, their selection is abundant, but their baked goods are really not all that great in my opinion. Having visited their locations in Whistler, Gastown, and Mount Pleasant, my takeaway is that ALL their treats are TOO SWEET, and I'm joined by many friends who also feel this way. It was to the point we just couldn't finish the items we ordered. I remember ordering a raspberry cobbler mini pie and the cobbler-to-pie stuffing ratio was terrible....I felt like I was eating straight up cobbler topping (some say this is the best part, but I digress)! With so many fine bakeries/pastry shops in this city and with Purebread's rapid expansion and into the Lower Mainland, looks like another "Bread Garden" disaster from the 90s waiting to happen. I'd shuffle this bakery with the Breka's of this city. They definitely aren't Thomas Haas or Thierry territory, where if you're like me, win in the quality over quantity department. read more

This location is very spacious compared to the one in downtown. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and there lots of seating but a lot of the baked good were already sold out. There was a short line but it moved quickly. My mom and I opted for the apple crumble, chocolate cake and coffee. Both the pastries were way too sweet for me. Came here with my bf on a Saturday afternoon. Not our first time coming to Purebread but it was our second time coming to this location (the first time, I didn't order anything so I couldn't write a review). Place was very busy but we managed to find seats by the wall. I love coming to Purebread because they always have so many huge and delicious looking pastries to choose from. My bf and I both got their regular drip coffee which the only good thing about it was that it was unlimited refills if you decided to stay. The bad thing about their coffee was that they were too acidic. Potato, Chive + Feta Cheese Pudgy Pie (there wasn't a full description for this so you would have to ask the server because there were 2 types) - This was so good especially warmed up. It The filling was cheesy and flavorful, and the potatoes were cooked just right. I really liked the edges because it was super crunchy and crispy. The pastry itself was tender and flaky. The only bad thing I would say about it was that it was a bit pricey even though it was quite huge but I know a place where they sell big pastries for cheap! (4.5/5) Nutella Brioche - This wasn't super amazing but it wasn't bad. I think it would of been way better if it was warmed up. The texture of the brioche was like eating a cinnamon bun which wasn't a bad thing. You could taste the nutella but there wasn't much of it so the ratio of bread to nutella was off. (3/5) Overall, huge range of pastry items which are absolutely amazing. Their pudgy pie was very good but not so much their nutella brioche. Definitely one of my top bakeries in Vancouver. One of best things about this spot are the dizzyingly gorgeous display cases! They stack up the dozens of choices along the counter and it makes it super difficult to choose! I often opt for the crack bar (oatmeal and brown sugar) or the goat cheese brownie. If you are feeling super hungry get one of their grilled cheese sandwiches (they take about 10 minutes but SO worth it!). It's bright & spacious with street parking available surrounding the building. When I sit in to enjoy my treat, there's always a constant flow of customers coming in. When you walk in, their display area of baked goods catches your eye immediately. There's a huge variety of items to choose from, from sweet to savoury. I always have a hard time choosing what to get because I just want to order everything! Since Purebread offers a huge selection of goods (and I do mean huge. I have never seen so many selections at a single bakery), it can be really good and can also be really bad. I give it 4 stars because I think it's possible to find something you really like here, and keep coming back for, but it's hard to find what that would be with the variety and rotation of selections. So far I've had: Jalapeno and cheese scone: hands down, best scone I've ever had. Flavour and texture were both perfect. Mint chocolate loaf: terrible. It was hard, dry, and crumbly, and the only mint chocolate nom I've ever disliked. Caramel creme brulee tart: more tart crust than anything else unfortunately. Mini flourless chocolate cake: incredible, super rich and moist, like a brownie but less dense and big/indulgent enough for 2-3 people. Like many shops in Mount Pleasant, it has that hispter-modern-rustic vibe. It's spacious, bigger than most cafes and bakeries around but always busy and difficult to find seating if you come later in the day. The people are friendly but I do find with the large selection, it's difficult to know what you want when you're ordering in the line because you haven't seen the rest of the selection. I have enjoyed their food in the past, but posting this review on quality of service - my boyfriend ordered specifically a chocolate birthday cake during the pandemic (July 2020) and when he went to pick it up, they had sold it to someone else and only had a vanilla buttercream instead. He had no other options, but it was disappointing, and no discount was offered. He gave them another chance in 2021 but they didn't write on the cake as ordered, it was blank. He emailed feedback on both and was never acknowledged. If this is your business, how difficult is it to fulfill special orders correctly? To not even offer a discount, a gift card, or respond to an email is poor service, and I just have no interest in going back. read more

It's outside the Olympic village so I always forget this place existed. Nonetheless I tried on Saturday for the first time. Initial impression was good, huge assortment of baked goods, but the signage was lacking, some things weren't labeled. Then it went all downhill from there. Service was also slow and took me a 2-3 mins standing there trying to get someone's attention.I got the apple pie and spinach and cheese muffin to go and left promptly. When I got home I realized, they gave me the wrong pie. Instead of apples it was peaches. The pie itself wasn't the good. The crust was very thin on the bottom and the crumble on top was way too sweet. I think regardless of the fruit I don't recommend any of the pies because the crumble looked on all their pies. The pie was about $6 The spinach and cheese muffin was alright, but nothing special. It was kinda of small and I couldn't really taste the cheese. I love this place. So amazingly good. Be warned tho, everything is overly sweet. A few bites in and it is sugar overkill. I can only handle a few bites of the coconut buttermilk cake (very very sweet). However the lemon coconut and carrot cake are less sweet and both winners! Not a huge fan of the cookies or brownies. All a bit too dry and lacking something. That being said, great atmosphere, fairly good staff, and a lot of variety. All in all, one of the best go to sweet spots in Vancouver. Love their breads and the assortment of pastries. Staff is friendly and patient. It took us a few minutes to decide which ones to get since it was our first time in their store and I would have gotten all of their baked treats if I could finish them. We got their walnut raisin loaf, which had the right softness and a hint of sweetness. Loved their pecan pastry (I forgot what they call it) and s'mores brownies.
