The entrance and how it says it's open Monday through Sunday from 9 am to 9pm

I came on a Wednesday at 10:13am and they were not open yet online and their sign says open at 9 am.

Yucca Fritta: Called "yuca frita" in Peru, it is fried cassava (yucca), often served as a side dish or snack, similar to French fries.

Puro Sabor, Pero Mal Servico Let me tell you, the food at Puro Sabor was pure flavor--puro sabor--but the service? Well, that was a different story! Imagine this: I sit down, ready to dive into some delicious Peruvian food, and I notice there are no prices on the menu. So, I ask the waitress, and her solution? "Look on Google." Yep, you heard that right, Google! Feeling a bit adventurous, I asked again, and she confidently says, "Don't worry, I know the prices in my head." Well, I don't know about you, but I prefer my prices on the menu, not stored in someone's brain! When I mentioned I wanted to speak to someone about the menu, she passed the buck with, "You'll have to talk to the manager." Meanwhile, I'm sitting there thinking, "Is the manager also on Google?" To be honest, I've had way better service at Chio's Peruvian Restaurant, where they're on top of things--prices included! The staff there makes sure you're well taken care of, no Google search required. All that said, the food at Puro Sabor? It was delicious. If only the service had matched the flavor!

Got the food to go but it was all delicious! Definitely recommend Papa a la Huancaina. I also got the Tallarines Verde con Bistec yum! There was also this green sauce that came with the meal it was very tasty a little spicy at first but I adjusted. The portions were decent for the price I feel.

My favorite Peruvian restaurant in the valley. So authentic and delicious. Wonderful service. I always get the lomo saltado & an Inca cola. Perfection.

One of the best Peruvian spots in the valley! Been coming for years and the food always delicious. Plus, the service is a 10/10.

The chicken (even though I opted in for grilled) was super juicy, very flavorful. The yams were a perfect balance of sweet and cinnamon. When you are here, you feel like family. This is a small locally owned restaurant and there is so much love put into everything they do. Even the art on the walls supports local artists. After some research I came across Cea-Lo LA and their great reviews. While I really wanted something more fancy for a sit down dinner. I have to say that I'm not sure that soul food and fancy sit down are a match either. All that aside, I enjoyed the fried catfish. It had a nice lightly breaded seasoning with a crisp fry. The sides were good because when it comes to the things you know and love it can be rare magic when everything hits on perfect. The greens were good not great. The yams were heavy on the nutmeg/cinnamon flavor and more mashed than I prefer. They did have vegan options which was needed and great for some of our party. Someone got the catfish and jumbo shrimp combo plate. It looked great but I don't think delivered to their expectations. The staff is super friendly and helpful with recommendations and you can tell they believe in their product. I would consider Cea-Lo more grab and go.

The space is really quite large. I was happy to see there was a seafood counter with a display case of smoked fish, a couple of dips, aged beef. The guys were super friendly behind the counter. I spotted the cafe area where they serve coffees and teas - I made a note that I had to come back to try that. Back to the deli counter - they recommended I try the smoked sea bass since they don't get it in often so I took some of that and a smoked salmon collar. The hand roll bar was empty since it was late in the afternoon but too early for dinner. I promised the sushi chef there that I would return. So I went back today with a couple of friends. We sat at that hand roll bar and had the best hand rolls I've ever had. We ordered a la carte and I absolutely loved those creations - full of flavor, texture - unique and tantalizing! I'm curious to go back and try some of the other things on there like the burger? the shabu shabu? I can't wait to see how they serve those items. Their little market area is fascinating as well - with small bottles of soy sauce aged in bourbon barrels and other delicious sounding ingredients. I did end up taking home a shaker bottle of their house made furikake. Can't wait to try that! I'm so happy this is in the neighborhood. It's a great spot to introduce friends to and serves as inspiration for anyone who loves to cook.

TLDR: 4/5 - Review comprised of the cafe and fish market only w the Sunday bbq fish edition. Great…read moreselection, of fish but can run out quickly. Cafe is a hidden gem. Service was satisfactory. Fish was very fresh and tasty. I would come again to try the restaurant and their other fish products I missed. So this place is a choose your own adventure (handrolls, fish shop, cafe), built out in this tetris sort of layout. Upon entry you have some high chair seating and the cafe straight to the back. Along the other side is some window seating followed with the fish shop on against the last wall. Overall its pretty small so seating is limited. So much so I was indirectly informed to move from the window seating after sitting there with my bev and bread because that was for the handroll section. So I promptly went outside. Ordered: Iced Chai Latte: 5/5 - Excellent Chai. Best I've had in a minute Banana Bread: 5/5 - Recommended to me by the server. Sigh, reminded me of those good ol covid days. Very good banana bread. BBQ Fish: 4/5 So fun fact - on sundays whatever you buy from the fish shop they'll bbq it for you, pretty cool right? While the prices are a little steep, most of it is by weight so my selected fish actually was only $6. When we do the bbq option you get a little slaw to go with it. I asked the guy to give me a relatively affordable but good option and now I don't remember what it was I know. But it WAS good. It was light, a little citrusy, and surprisingly meaty? If I closed my eyes and did a blind test you could've had me fooled for red meat. If you don't like bones and all I would suggest something else. Now I have to say as soon as I ordered that one of the girls who worked there was on her off day and ordered a salmon burger, and apparently that's off the menu and isn't every week! I felt bamboozled, the fish guy did me wrong haha. With that said, if you can be here for that it seems well worth it, the grill man was mostly cooking patties and I asked one party how was it and they said it was delicious, really packed too, that burger was thick! Now there is some outdoor seating (3) but between the handrolls in the back and the bbq in the front it could be hard to find a place to sit. I got there around 12 Sunday and a few things I wanted were already sold out so I'd say make it earlier or order ahead if you can. All in all this place has been on my list for a few years now and I'm glad I finally went. I enjoyed what I experienced so far but I'm willing to go back to get the full nine yards.

The famed lobster appetizer was not for us. Bits of lobster floating in a lot of butter didn't excite us. Excellent salads. The other appetizers however, were excellent. We've been twice now had had a lot of their menu. The pork was outstanding. The rack was very good, but I've had even better racks elsewhere. The "famous" banana cream pie was good, not great, but so huge and rich it must be shared. At $30, it's maybe also a tad overpriced. The bar makes a healthy-sized martini that's worth its high-end price tag. Great wine list with wonderful advice and good-sized sample pours, even though I only drink one glass and my husband doesn't drink at all. This is a good place to splurge on a good wine. I've mentioned the above-par service. Informative and cheery, without trying to become your best friend. They went out of their way to assure us a table in a very quiet spot, due to my deafness. Very attentive without being overbearing. Their suggestions seem honest, rather than just trying to upsell everything. The place is huge and gorgeous. Flatteringly, if dimly, lit, it lends itself to romantic dinners and anniversaries. In our case, we like to have a rather luxurious and romantic and lengthy meal perhaps once a month, and feel very fortunate to be able to do so. It's divided into several smallish areas and the effect is rather cozy and intimate. It's chic and stylish, so PLEASE folks, dress for it? It especially saddens me to see a nicely dressed young woman, who obviously spent some time on herself beforehand, with a guy ( I'll guess her husband ), in shorts and a tee shirt. I say, for a place like this, where you could easily spend four bills on a good meal for two, with drinks, management, bring back a dress policy! And enforce it with a reminder email they you do so. Is a collared shirt and a pressed pair of khakis too much to ask for?
