I'm from out of state and visited Putah Creek Cafe after hearing great things about it from many locals. Locals and out of town dinners all seemed to love it. I had an EXCELLENT brunch/lunch! I drank iced tea, ate a California omelet with salad, shared pancakes with a friend and brought cinnamon roll and carrot cake home for later. They also had gluten-are toast. Clean, cute and comfortable environment (I sat in a booth). The service was attentive without being overly intrusive. Price was fair. I highly recommend and hope to return. read more

We came here for the harvest festival weekend. Considering it was a busy weekend we only had to wait for less than 15 minutes before we were seated. Sign-up sheet is on the countertop. The food was great and delicious but the service was a little bit rushed. This is a first come first serve venue and the server may want to have a quick turnaround. Stumbled upon this cute cafe on the way home from the Cache Creek casino. It is about 20 minutes away from the resort, and a new go to spot for brunch or lunch when we are in the area. It was pretty busy for a Friday morning but we were seated quickly at a table on the patio outside. The service was really great and quick, we were surprised at how fast our food came out after we ordered! I had the chicken and waffles as well as a glass of OJ and both were really delicious. Wife and I stopped in here the other day. We had planned on going to the Buckhorn Steakhouse but they did not open for another 45 minutes. Walked across the street To the cafe. We could not have been more pleaded with our choice. I ordered a Cali burger and wife had a salad The burger and fries were very generous portions. The burger was loaded with avocado, smoked bacon, cheese and an 8 oz brisket patty. The bacon slices were long and thick and full of flavor. I asked for medium rare and that is exactly the way it came. Cooked perfectly with a big pile of hot and tasty french fries. The wifes salad was large and had ample portions of chicken, and a variety of greens. The server was friendly and attentive, kept the drinking glasses full. Manager stopped by the table and also asked if we needed anything. The interior is roomy and casual, with many paintings on the walls depicting the local area. We were told that the Buckhorn Steakhouse and Putah Creek cafe are run as one business, The premium beef I got is the same as the Steakhouse uses. I am a skilled chef, and it takes a really good meal at a restaurant to impress me. This place hit all the numbers. -One more thing...the bathrooms are squeaky clean and nicely decorated. So many times the dressing overwhelms, the chicken is dry and the balance is off, but this one was perfect for me. Winters never disappoints! We haven't been at the Putah Creek Cafe in a while and a really great place seems even better. The menu is an outstanding collection of classic American diner meals. I ordered the Davis Market Sandwich, a grilled tip tip French dip sandwich that was next level delicious, with fries. My wife had the Cafe Burger with a side salad. Everything was outstanding and if I could give the place 8 stars, I would. The fries are great and the side salad was huge and really good. The service was outstanding. Jennifer was our waitress and if felt like we were in the care of a longtime friend. The breakfast menu looks incredible and we're definitely coming back here for a weekend brunch. We also saw some pizzas going out of the kitchen and they looked incredible -- they were big, everything was fresh and they were hitting the dining room as if from a Michelin Star pizzeria (not sure if they have those!). Putah Creek Cafe is in institution in Winters, and a local favorite. We came on a Sunday, and it was packed with a 20-30 minute wait. There were a lot of diner type items on the menu, but I've heard good things about their pizza, so I decided to give that a try. It was great! I tried the vegetarian pizza and it had great sauce and veggies, and the pizza was cooked perfectly. My daughter got the Greek chicken salad and some fries and she enjoyed those as well. Amazing food. Our first time here and I wanted to try everything, but I ended up getting the Davis Market. So so good. The meat was thinly sliced to make it so easy to eat, the dip sauce was perfect and not salty. The breat was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The service was great. I ordered take out today (a veggie pizza and a BLT). Both dishes were awesome. My sister loved the pizza and my BLT was jam-packed with some of the most delicious bacon I've ever had in a BLT. First visit! It was my son's 13th birthday and he requested country fried steak so we searched for the place with the best and we certainly found it! I had the chicken and waffles, didn't care for the siracha syrup but it was great with plain and i preferred my youngest daughters chicken strips over the chicken thigh it came with, my oldest daughter had a greek chicken salad which she said was delicious. We only had water to drink but even that tasted fresh and clean (not like tap water you get some places) We were greeted and seated promptly, our server Jennifer came up with a warm welcoming smile and got us started. Solid, affordable, and tasty home cooked food! Sat down for dinner around 6:30 on a Tuesday evening. Parking wasn't incredibly easy to find right out front. The restaurant wasn't busy inside at all. We were seated right away. It took a bit to be greeted by a server. We ordered: the barbecue burger, the Cali burger, and the fried chicken sandwich. All were so delicious and MASSIVE. You 100% get your money's worth here. We were too stuffed for dessert, but my aunt got a brownie to go. Came in early Sunday afternoon, right around 1:30p. Happy we came in when we did, not 10 mins later there was a long line. Great, helpful and pleasant staff. Very bright, open feel to the seating area. Very busy, food came in a decent time. No complaints, nice portions, nice prices. Parking wasn't too bad, but I can see it being a bit difficult during the peak times for Sunday brunch. Food: Could've been the hike, but their fresh grapefruit juice hit a spot I didn't know I had. I had the 2 egg breakfast, with a side pancake. Everything was fine, pancake was to my liking. Friends all enjoyed their dishes. Just the cutest little cafe in the cutest little town! Love coming down to Winters as a Davis local, and Putah Creek Cafe has quickly become a must for us every time we're in the area! Ambiance is great, food is delicious, and the service has been standard. Some of my friends have complained about the service in the past though. I will say it's also a tad on the pricier side (especially the appetizers). Got the Mushroom Swiss Burger today (~$17), solid but again a little overpriced. Will return nonetheless! This place is just OK. It's not bad, but I'm not entirely sure that you get your moneys worth. For a diner, you would think it would be more reasonably priced. They are on the high end of pricing for being a café, in fact much higher priced than a café, But you don't get the comparable quality and service that you would get for the prices that they charge. There is no ambiance. No decor. It's literally a cafe. They actually charge you for a piece of bread. The service is...meh. There are other places to go close by. read more

We love the Putah Creek Café in Winters. We split our time between Sonoma and Colusa and this is our favorite midway restaurant stop. This morning I tried the Carnitas breakfast and oh my gosh it was amazing. The Carnitas were lean and plentiful atop perfectly fried corn tortillas with black beans and cheese and cilantro, in the most delightful roasted salsa. My husband had perfect French toast with bacon cooked to perfection and crispy. Just like he likes it. The coffee and tea and pastries are always lovely. We can't get away without taking cookies home to the kids. Every dinner, lunch, or breakfast we've had has been fabulous. Highly recommended! Didn't peek inside but there was ample table space outside on this pleasant almost summer morning. Our waitress was cheerful and prompt. Waters were brought promptly including a cub for our 4 legged companion. The baked French toast was delightful with a generous scoop of fresh whipped cream and fresh strawberries topping it off. No syrup needed. My husband had the veggie omelet substituting avocado for the artichokes. Our dog got a side of sausage patties.. 4 came with the order and she didn't complain. My boyfriend and I love their carnitas nachos and sadly, tonight, we found out that they have taken it off there menu. I would normally give this restaurant 5 stars as it's one of my favorites in Winters, but the carnitas nachos was our favorite item here. I am hoping that they will bring it back. Never been here before and the place looked inviting and busy which is always a good sign. I was with my family and I ordered sweet potato fries and they ordered theirs. The waiter Erik R. asked if we wanted ranch with our fries and we said No. The food came out BUT, mine didn't. You would think mine would come quicker because it was just fries or at least with everyone else's. I clocked it at 8 mins and still no fries. I had to stop our waiter and tell him we said No to the ranch, and he said Sorry, and we can have it and he'll take it off the order. (1st mistake that he put the ranch in our order), Next, my partner had asked him where was the fries for me, and he acted as if he didnt know what I ordered and claimed he put it in(second mistake). By that point I lost my appetite because my family was already eating and I still had to wait and not enjoy with my family; I had to take it to go. I then asked for a manager and I spoke to Olivia. She was attentive, kind as heck, and offered her apologies and took care of a few things for us to repair his mistakes. I dont appreciate our waiter ERIK. R for his irresponsibilities, but I appreciate OLIVIA for her beautiful heart and responsibility as a supervisor. That's how management should always be. I praise her, and we will come back because of the food and her, next time we ever go through Winters. 0 stars for our waiter Erik R. 5 for the supervisor Olivia!!
