I really enjoyed this place. I had heard it advertised as a health food buffet. It is in that it has a huge salad bar and sugar free/ fat free options. Everything was fresh. I grew up going here probably once a month, and still love it now as a 23 year old. The salad bar always offered us tons of choices, although we always stuck with their Ranch dressing (which is still the best I've ever had). We would then make our way to the muffins and breadsticks (also to die for). The hot bar always offered a good selection of entrees based on the day of the week. But the best part of Q'Cumbers has to be the soft serve! We'd start with a soup bowl and a cookie on the bottom then load up with Oreos, chocolate chips and sprinkles. It would usually be soupy before finished so we would dunk cookies in the melted ice cream. They also have a coloring contest for kids each month, and giveaway free meals (which I happened to win once). Overall Q'Cumbers was and still is a great family friendly restaurant with affordable prices and great staff. (The owners used to recognize us because we came so often). read more

I had been s long time customer of this place; that is why I was so shocked when an assistant manager (Kari) was so rude to me and my friend. Unsure if it was because we were both women of color... or that she just wanted to humiliate some one that day....? Well, She publicly humiliated me and I never received an apology. My friend and I sent emails to the owner/manager and still did not receive an apology! I will never go there again! After 20 years of visiting that establishment, and lately had been about 3+ times a month especially on Tuesdays for Turkey. Our team at work had a team lunch, so we piled into a friend's minivan and 8 of us were off to Edina. Q Cumbers is located in an expansive strip mall and is quite a large location. We got seated in a few minutes, but in 10 minutes, the place was PACKED! Q Cumbers has is a healthier style buffet, with a gigantic salad bar. I quickly began to pile my plate with a ton of vegetable goodness. I started with some Romaine lettuce and continued to add mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, chick peas, olives, etc..They had 2 healthy dressings out of the 10 available, so chose the nonfat Italian. Great stuff. I added a bowl of their wonderful broth based chicken soup, which had hominy and chick peas. Perfect amount of spice. Could be the best soup I have had. I also noticed that they had about ten types of bread to choose from. They all looked scrumptious. What a fabulous place. I added about 4 Diet Pepsis, and stopped. If I were not watching the calories, I would have tried some of their hot eats. The had a taco bar,nachos, spiced pulled pork, all sorts of happy eats. For dessert, team members at the table had lots of soft serve ice cream with loads of toppings. It looked fabulous. I haven't been here for about 10 years, which was a mistake. The service is spectacular for busing your empty plates. The only thing I would like improved would be to have Coke products, or at least Diet Mt. Dew. Since my parents have turned vegetarian it has been hard to find the perfect place to take them to eat. My sister had introduced us to a Salad Buffet in Wisconsin called Sweet Tomatoes so when Q Cumbers showed up as a Salad Buffet option in Minnesota i was excited. I have been here twice, once to taste test it before bringing my parents and the second with my parents. It was parent approved but unfortunately Edina isn't a convenient location for us. First off I enjoy the fact that they have a huge vegetable option for making salads. They also have a great variety of salad dressings and topping to put on them. I like the fact on different days they have different options for their hot dishes. When I brought my parents and brother enjoyed the fact they had taco related items. I greatly appreciated that there were items marked "Vegetarian", not just in the salad bar area. My mother enjoyed a Vegetarian taco. There were soup options which a few being "Vegetarian". You don't know until you really do keep an eye out how hard it is to find something is "Vegetarian". Some of the hot dishes weren't A+ but they hit the spot either way. I liked their breads and muffins then their desserts were simple but nice. This Sunday we are going to try out their Easter Brunch. My only wish is that they had more locations, preferably one in the Eastern Metro area... like maybe Woodbury? read more

This must be a close relative to the Sweet Tomatoes chain in IL. Similiar concept. Equally as filling. Wandered out here after searching for a decent salad bar. Pleasantly surprised to find out that they had a breakfast brunch as well. Surprisingly fresh and clean salad bar with favorable fixin's. I really like seeing the attendants constantly cleaning up around a salad bar. I dislike seeing dressing and stuff laying around. This one was very clean. Ingredients on the salad bar were very fresh and they had edamame which was a big bonus for me. Pre- made salads looked a bit sketchy. Try at your own risk. Breakfast items were the typical eggs, sausage, bacon, wafffles etc. They did have some very attractive cinnamon rolls which I would have tried if I liked cinnamon rolls. They also had make your own chicken fajitas, rice and beans which looked so- so. Fruit was fresh and consisted of honeydew, watermelon, grapes, apples, oranges and bananas. Server was attentive in clearing the trays and dishes from the table. Nice and open air dining feel. Sat by the window and had a great view of the Centennial Lakes skating chalet and pond with all of the ice skaters out braving the cold. Prices are reasonable. $11.50 a person. Nice opportunity to get a brisk walk to the bathroom which is down a long corridor and then some. Good chance to work off all the food! read more

This is a very good buffet with a lot of variety and choices for different types of diners: vegan, gluten free, regular. There is a huge salad bar station with any vegetable you can think of and about 10 dressings and many seasonings. The vegetables were fresh and nicely sized sliced. Then there's a hot station with certain foods for that specific day. It was Friday, we had pasta, mac n cheese, pot roast, tilapia and chicken. Also, baked potatoes and taco fixings. All pretty delicious, I especially liked the melt in your mouth pot roast. Next, is a small pizza station. There were three varieties of pizza: one vegan, one meat, and one cheese. The pizza was very thinly sliced and not too filling. Next to the pizza was soups and breadsticks and delicious chocolate chip cookies. There were four different types of soup and somewhere unique with different vegetables in them and the breadsticks were great. The breadsticks were warm and fresh and you could ask for a breadstick from the cook without any butter if you were dairy free. To top off your meal, you could have your choice of a variety of fruit, ice cream cone or make your own sundae. There were tons of fixings and toppings for the ice cream. A very filling dinner and I would go back. An extra thank you to Bonnie, our server. She's been there a long time and knows her stuff and was very accommodating and offered great advice. So...my wife and I were hangry...and of course, couldn't decide on what we wanted to eat (#firstworldproblems). We happen to be in the Edina area and saw Q Cumbers. We had heard about it before and figured, why not?! Parking is easy peasy, and when you walk in, you pay up and then get seated. You'll get an 80s throwback right when you walk in - the wood finish all around, bright colored counter tops, that tile work - oh and the 80s style, mall food court tables, and chairs. The selection is broad for veggies, a variety of greens and all the fixings you can think of - I went for mix greens and every topping I could put on my plate. The warm food section changes, but includes soups, bread, and a constant change up of rice, beans, chicken, beef and hot veggies. Now, if you're looking for Mom's home cooking, this is not the place for you. If you're hangry in a pinch, you might consider this place - if you have kids, go to this place - it's easy, friendly and gets the job done of feeding little humans. For me, not a huge fan - foods were dried up, soup was blah and the hot food variety was lacking (again, for me it was). If you're willing to throw down $13 (include bevy), then hit it up; otherwise, find another food place in the same area for the same price. read more

If you're a college freshman you'll probably dig this place. Total dorm style food..it's got a small hot bar loaded with greasy options, a decent salad bar and a very bad pizza.... On the other hand if you want to eat a good sized portion on a budget,~$12 per plate this might be the place for you. I originally rated this a 4, but revised to 5 stars. The staff is everything. They are so incredibly friendly, and more than willing to wait on any of your needs. They also keep the restaurant impeccably clean which is essential at a buffet. The lettuce/spinach/etc. is always fresh and they have an excellent selection of toppings and dressings. Although the salad bar is the main attraction, the hot bar has a nice selection as well. There are also a wide variety of fresh desserts and fruit. The dining area is very airy and has beautiful views of the park below. The only downside is that the acoustics aren't great and there isn't a lot of walking space between tables. read more

We've been going to Q.Cumbers Edina since 2006. The food and service has deteriorated so much since then. We went to dinner today and the food was terrible. The chicken wild rice soup was so salty, could not eat it. The grilled chicken was dry. The carrots were spiced to be inedible. In addition to the bad food, the service was horrible. The waitress/hostess waited for us, as parents, to leave the table to come and talk to our son to lecture him about not taking more food than we can eat. However, the food that we left was inedible. For this reason, she had no right to tell him about leaving food. In fact, she had no right to bully a boy about food when she knew that his parents were present. read more

My mom and I have been wanting to come check this place out all year! There was plentiful parking, friendly staff, wide selection of choices and everything was hot or cold as needed. The salad bar is the same on both sides but there is a huge variety to choose from. There is fresh fruit and other dessert options. The chicken lasagna is really good! If I don't want to cook dinner at night, this is one of my go-to places. It's quick and I love the big salad bar. There are a lot of salad fixins and they have 4 or so pasta salad type dishes. They also have a few soups, different kinds of breads and muffins, some fruit, and a hot entree bar. The hot bar is usually mac and cheese, pasta and marinara, chicken, and other comfort foods. There is also a soft serve ice cream area (vanilla and chocolate) and some toppings. The service is usually pretty good about picking up dirty dishes and getting everyone more water. If you have kids, on Mondays, kids eat for 99 cents. Also, if you sign up for yelp's cash back program, Q. Cumbers is currently participating, which is an extra incentive. As far as buffets go -- especially ones with healthy options -- this is as good as it gets. The price is reasonable (drinks are included!) It's also a great place to go with kids, as they have traditional kid-friendly options in the hot bar (tacos, pasta) plus enough fresh fruit and veggie options to find something healthy for just about any kid. It's also one of the more inexpensive places to eat in the Southdale/Galleria shop-tropolis. Things I like: -- The salad bar, which is the star of the place. This includes about four prepared salads daily. I do wish they had a few more original veggie options on the salad bar. -- The large selection of fresh fruit. -- The soft serve sundae bar, which isn't huge, but always fun. -- Good assorted bread options, especially the breadsticks. -- Amazing mini muffins. Things I'm not crazy about: -- The hot bar doesn't have a lot of options, and it's not very creative at all. When we were there, there was just a basic potato bar and taco bar, without much in terms of fixings, plus some very standard chicken and pasta. -- The soup. I have been to Qcumbers many times over the years and was ok with it in the past, but this time was awful! Tried to find a table and was denied a table FOUR times saying they were "reserved". We always seated ourselves over the years and tables were not reserved in the past. My friend and I finally found a table near a bussing station. (Such ambiance. I got to watch them stacking dirty dishes.) The owner came over when I expressed that I was upset about the issue with getting a table. He was not courteous or friendly! He did NOT employ good customer service by asking how everything was or what he could do. I've had more considerate service in a fast food joint! Despite the fact that the salad was decent, I do not intend to come back any time soon. I like being treated decently when I go out to a restaurant. Very disappointed! read more

I was here just the other day, and just have to say visiting this place was a real treat. From the great customer service, to how great the food was. Even though it was an hour before closing, they not only had plenty of food, but the staff was friendly as well. I mean this place was plenty busy, for a Wednesday night. I mean everybody was spaced apart, and they literally made sure to follow good health measures. I would definitely be back again. I mean I had to go all in with the salad bar, especially with so many different kinds of lettuce, and so many toppings, like pasta salad. I think I had my fill after visiting the hot food table. With pasta, mashed potatoes, roast beef, to name a few things. I really liked how during my meal, they came by every few minutes, to see if we were doing alright, and to clear any used items. Qcumbers is hands down the cleanest buffet I've ever been to. I've been here a handful of times and the food has always been fresh and the choices have consistently been plentiful. For $11 it's a little more than I would prefer to spend for lunch, but it's at least undeniably tasty. What I really like about this place is that you can really make your lunch what you want. If you want to eat healthy, there are some fantastic vegetable pickings and tasty vinegarette mix options at the salad bar. If you want to eat comfort food, you can usually find fried chicken and Mac and cheese at the hot bar. I would encourage everyone to save some room for the Jamaican chili, it has a tiny bit of kick but has a cool aftertaste. I love it with a piece of their homemade bread for dipping. Yum! Don't forget the delicious fruit and dessert area, and by don't forget I mean get there quickly before your stomach realizes it's already eaten three ginormous courses. I think this is one of the better buffets in the TC. Good salad bar, lots of options. Hot food is good, I like eating corn on the cob, chicken, chile, lasagna. One thing I do avoid is the pasta noodles, why do so many places boil them to oblivion? Not a fan of the meat sauce or vegetarian tomato sauce either. Like the ice cream too. Soft serve mmmm. Came on Monday with my son and his friend because it's 99 cent kids night. They barely ate anything anyways. I had a giant salad, which was good but nothing special. They standard salad bar fixings but nothing over the top or great, no artichokes, no cun dried tomatoes, no kalamata olives, no squash, etc. The hot food bar was pretty gross looking.
