The staff work together as one hospitable, friendly & approachable team. Although Q is well known for their hot pot, we opted for Asian tapas. Their food & drinks are excellent. Their Q wonton soup w/a slight kick is the best I've tried and their golden buns, aka Asian fried dough, were scrumptious fluffy little pillows. Stopped by Q for hot pot and it was honestly great. The broth had good flavor (went with the spicy and it had the right amount of heat), and all the ingredients were super fresh. To be honest, my mom who is visiting and I came here after happy lamb was very unreasonable with their wait time. We were beyond ecstatic to taste the quality of every dish and complimented both broths several times (classic mala's great but crazy is a little spicier/my preference). We even brought some soup home in the end, but we're the most impressed with Koh. His service was phenomenal and he always noticed when we were short on water and had impeccable recommendations. It's been so long since I've return to this place when it was first born in Quincy. Met with some friends here with reservations and it seems pretty packed at dinner time. Waiter was very welcoming and attentive to us. They have many selections of superior broths versus other Shabu places around. They still remain as one of the best Shabu in Boston. I love their hotpot! I highly recommend the classic mala (spicy broth) and the black bone chicken broth (not spicy). For meats the ribeye is so delicious! We had to order a second plate from how good it was. The mushroom platter is also delicious. We also ordered the udon noodles and the thick noodles and they were both great. Despite other reviews, service was excellent for our party of 6. Our drinks were never empty and everyone that served us was very friendly. Our waitress explained hotpot and gave us some suggestions on what to order. The food, on the other hand, was hit or miss. I ordered a plate of general gau tofu with a side of white rice. It was delicious and filling! Half of the table did hotpot and were not satisfied. Everyone was still very hungry after (they ordered 2 meats + 1 appetizer + noodles + small plates). The other two at the table ordered sushi (one found a long black hair in her roll and the other kept picking out fish scales).... yikes. Price wise, it's not cheap. My drink and tofu plate was just under $40. It was good, but not $40 good. The half of the table felt they overspent on the hotpot considering they were still extremely hungry after eating. The cocktail I ordered was pretty watered down; not worth $10 for sure. Overall, I wouldn't revisit unless someone else in my party really wanted to go. read more

Great Sunday night dinner we were very lucky to walk in right before 8pm and get a table within 15 minutes. The hostess was so lovely and greeted us immediately when we walked in the door. Our server he was great with educating us about the menu and decided to try the hot pot for the first time and it did not disappoint. He was thorough with explaining how to choose your broth, to your vegetables your noodles to your proteins. We loved how he did not try to oversell us but just wanted to educate us on the endless possibilities of the menu. We waited about 45 minutes to get a table. It was pretty crowded but the seating was nice, we sat near the bar at a high table. There was a giant fan on the ceiling, had to be like a big warehouse sized fan but it made for a nice temperature. The food wasn't as good as I expected for the price. It's a pretty expensive restaurant, and would maybe be worth it if you did hotpot, but their regular entrees weren't great. I did appreciate that they had pancake break, which is a staple in China and I haven't seen that appetizer at any other restaurant before. Lastly, it got really loud because a group of bar hoppers came in and were really rowdy, but they only stayed for about 15 minutes and then left. Dined her for our traditional thanksgiving Chinese meal. Whole family hates turkey so we always go out for Chinese. This place was busy and superb. So glad I had a reservation. We ordered the dumplings, the beef chow goon and the julienne pork. The dumplings and chow doom were excellent, soft, comforting, flavorful and hot. The pork had a sting vinager flavor that I did not care for but hubby liked it. The service was quick bit I felt rushed. They told us we had 90 minutes to dine in but after 45 minutes they rushed the check over and I felt uncomfortable sitting a minute more. This spot is known for some incredible side dishes, such as spicy noodles or tripe, their famous Q fried beef (pieces of beef pounded flat and deep fried and finished with mayo dressing). First trip to The Q during Dine Out Boston week, and I am so glad this is where we spent our evening. Cocktails made by Kianna were 10/10; between the table we tried the Royal Q, the Sugar Spice and Everything Nice, an old fashioned and a cold sake. Our server said he's known as "Fancy" and he was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. For the food, we mostly stuck with the Dine Out Week menu - for appetizers, the Q popcorn chicken; which was extremely tender dark meat, and Xi'an cold rice noodle; which was wonderfully seasoned and not just doused in chili oil. We also got some crab rangoon, which were crispy and delicious and went fast. Both the dine out appetizers were large portions, enough to be a filling lunch for one on their own. Then it was time for hot pot! The seafood sampler was above an beyond expectations, including whitefish, salmon, shellfish, squid, and fishcake. The meat sampler seemed lesser by comparison, but only because we were so blown away by the fish - two types of meat, both high quality. Each order came with a generous bowl of veggies and noodles, and our broth had a flight of add-ins for seasoning - I think we used them all. It was so delicious there was no room for desert, so we took ours to go. It was just as good at home in sweatpants later, lol. The booth was comfortable, bathrooms were clean and single occupancy. Everyone working tonight was doing a great job, but truly hats off to "Fancy" who made it a great night. I hope to come back and try the sushi soon! read more
