Delicious hotpot for lunch -- great service in a modern and clean setting. We ordered the traditional mala and Japanese tonkotsu broth with a beef and lamb combo and the Asian vegetable platter B. The lamb was the star of the show-- great quality and tender, especially flavorful in the mala broth. We loved the sauce and sauce additions that they gave us. We were looking for a solid Chinese food spot that had the familiar options we were accustomed to with takeout but more upscale and more for dine in. Q was great. The service was prompt and the ambiance was nice but not overly formal. The menu is eclectic so it doesn't extend to just Chinese cuisine, but to hot pot, Thai, sushi, etc. It's an extensive and long menu for sure. My husband and I shared the sautéed beef appetizer and the crab Rangoon. The crab Rangoon was light, flaky, and not too overly creamy or heavy. It was delicious. We shared a classic sushi roll which was good but I would say our entrees were the main appeal. We shared a General Gao chicken and Dan Dan noodles. As you can tell by our photos, portions were huge and the price was reasonable. The noodles were flavorful and a nice take on the standard Dan Dan without being too peanuty. The chicken was a more flavorful less takeout version of General Tso so we enjoyed that also. We both had a few lychee martinis to go with our meal and they were not overly sweet, but just sweet enough (and strong)! Will definitely come back! I've passed here by loads of times, going to and from Chinatown, and I finally decided to give it a try after my friend gave a glowing recommendation after her visit. We arrived around 7pm to an extremely bustling restaurant and were told the wait would be around 20 minutes - after we came back at 7:30, we were seated in around another 15 minutes. Thankfully, service was quick, efficient, and extremely attentive. We ordered from their quite large menu quickly and were soon greeted with the rich, fragrant aromas of the delicious broths that we ordered. Hot pot is always fun to eat in large groups, because you can order lots of smaller plates to share, and so we did - multiples plates of beef, various veggies, fish balls, noodles, and definitely loads more that I'm forgetting. Overall, everything was great. As I noted above, the soup broth itself was actually really good, and all of the hot pot items we got - especially the beef, were really tasty, too: fresh and flavourful across the board. The supreme beef sampler plate was particularly good, and I'd also recommend the flounder filet and the fish tofu as well. Our server was also amazing - he actually subtly noticed that one of our birthdays had just passed (the previous day, actually) from our IDs when checking our ages for drinks, and brought over a cake at the end of our meal! What a nice surprise. I would say that the price point is a little high, although maybe not entirely unreasonable for this neighbourhood/maybe Boston hot pot in general. The staff is good and the menu is decent but honestly the food is bland and mediocre and I feel like the whole thing is just a way to get more drink orders. They accommodated us right away and made us feel so welcome. We decided on hot pot, even though we had no idea what to order. The staff walked us through everything, explaining each item and how to cook it. They were incredibly helpful, even staying to help us cook some of it! Wow this place offers so much! I came to Boston for a business trip and found myself here for dinner. My colleague and I tried getting a table but the wait would've been 45 minutes, but we got seated at the bar right away. Their hot pot looked sooo good and it was a cold night in Boston, so it would've been perfect. Sitting at the bar though, barely any room for hot pot. Sad, but I hope you try it! We shared the soup dumplings, spiced curry chicken, and beef stew noodle soup. The dumplings are piping hot! Ooof let them sit for a minute. I actually preferred them without the dipping sauce -- too vinegary for me. The curry chicken was solid. The beef noodle soup was my favorite! So much flavor and hit the spot! We had a really enjoyable meal at Q when we dropped in for lunch. There was only one other table occupied on the weekday of our visit, which enhanced the already excellent service provided by our server. We both ordered a flavored soju to grease the skids in preparation of our meal and I forgot how dangerous that shit is. I will say that without even ordering another beverage, after our meal I was walking down the sidewalk with a half eaten scallion pancake in my grasp. Anyway, the menu has something for any mood you may be in: hot pot, sushi, chinese, etc. To start, we went with the fried veggie spring rolls and scallion pancakes. They weren't the best spring rolls I've had in my life but they were enjoyable. The scallion pancakes were crisp and plentiful. So plentiful in fact, that we couldn't even finish all of them, hence how I found myself after the meal. We came for hot pot and as I am about to demonstrate, we were not fucking around. I am vegetarian, and I wish they had more clearly identified what is or what could be made vegetarian. Regarding the broths, our server informed me that many of them can be made vegetarian but it wasn't clear on the menu. Anyway, I asked for a suggestion and he recommended the mushroom broth and a vegetarian version of the mala broth, which is spicy. They were both delicious. Regarding the additions to our hot pot, a vegetarian can't go wrong with the vegetables section. We ordered the fried taro and might I add that this shit is BOMB in hot pot. We also went with broccoli, sow peas, spinach, cabbage, the tofu platter, udon noodles, and vermicelli noodles. Needless to say, it was comical when everything came out and could barely fit on the table. Everything was SO GOOD and we did the best we could but before long, we had succumbed to the, "my stomach is about to explode and I want to die" sensation. Fortunately, our astute server seemed to understand our situation and brought the check over quickly so we could GTFO and digest. I went here with my friend for hotpot. What I really love about this place is the broth for hotpot. My friend put me on the tomato broth and it is hands down one of the most delicious I've ever tried! Even after I finish with the meats and veggies, I'll still be scooping some of the broth into my bowl to sip on as soup. They have a solid selection of meats and veggies that are pretty good relative to the price. You can control the heat for the hotpot which is great because usually towards the end of dinner, you'll want to turn it down. The ambiance is nice. Definitely has a more modern and sleek interior. When you walk in, you'll definitely get a feel as if this is a fusion restaurant. One plus is that the heat source in the middle of table doesn't take away any legroom which can happen depending on the hot pot place. The servers were pleasant and professional. I never felt like I waited too long and they always made sure to check in on us. Overall, I would recommend if you're looking to scratch your hotpot itch! read more

Came here for an early dinner and we ordered a tofu and veggie platter and some vermicelli noodles. Our bill was almost $50! The broth itself was $16! That's so overpriced to me! Really?? For flavored broth... The veggie and tofu platter were reasonable.. around $11 but it wasn't a lot of food. I was satisfied from the noodles and broth but could've ate more. The meats were really expensive so I skipped out on those. The food seemed very fresh. I just wished they gave us larger portions. The waiter was nice though. He gave me the wrong bill at first and when I noticed it, he corrected the bill. For over $50, I expected a little more portions and less pricy broth! read more

My partner and I came for lunch on a weekday and was greeted with excellent customer service. There is plenty of seating inside the restaurant with a very hip atmosphere and also a sushi bar. My partner and I ordered the sushi tacos, seared toro roll, spicy tuna hand roll, and spicy avocado ball for our appetizers. We were blown away the extensive sushi selection, as well as the quality and presentation of the dishes. All of the fish tasted extremely fresh and the sushi dishes are well balanced. The spicy avocado ball was filled with spicy tuna, topped with creamy and fresh avocado, and delicious spicy-mayo based sauce. The sushi tacos were light and crunchy with huge chunks of fresh. The seared toro rolls were our favorite, as it was topped with seared toro and filled with toro. The paired sauce was acidic and refreshing, and the seared flavor was explosive with every bite. The hand roll was filled with spicy tuna and the nori wrap was separate from the rice so it stayed very crispy. For hot pot we got 1/2 tomato and 1/2 spicy bone tallow. The broths were both very flavorful and the spicy broth was indeed very spicy, including numbing szechuan peppers which added an extra kick. We got the premium meat platter, vegetable platter, and additional side orders of quail eggs, fresh tofu, and enoki mushroom. I like that they bring the sauces directly to you as it is more sanitary than a buffet-style sauce bar. The hot pot was very delicious and the perfect amount of food. A great location to bring large parties and friends to socialize. read more

It was only later when he was able to reconstruct exactly what he and his 5 guests had ordered. The confusion was not induced by the House hot sake--yes, the group had imbibed--but not excessively, three small pitchers over the course of dinner. The confusion was in the essential nature of the Hot Pot chaos. Luckily, his daughter had been there to orient everyone and to orchestrate the order. The server, an Asian Hot Pot veteran who was amused by our awe-struck demeanor, patiently served us the condiments to create our personalized dipping sauces. Soon, four boiling broths appears, two vegetarian (kimchi and wild mushroom) and two non-veg (classic mala and black bone chicken). After these cauldrons were set bubbling onto the table, a melee of 18 separate dishes were placed by the waiter onto the table. And the guests, ravenous, chop-sticked the ingredients into the broths of their choosing. At 212 Deg F, it doesn't take long to parboil veggies or flash-cook thinly sliced rib eye, and there was a bit of jostling to locate the finished morsels, and to then dip them into the sauce and to eat. The eating was intense and excellent but was really only the conclusion of that long entertainment of process. The photo of the receipt has been entered as evidence. His personal favorites were the noodles, ribeye, baby Japanese mushrooms, bamboo shoots, and fried tofu skins (sourced humanely). This restaurant is conveniently located by the Ritz and the 1k+ reviews made us try it on our last night. I don't know much about hot pot but saw a lot of people eating it (think big bowl of soup with meat and etc that they put in the soup?) so we ordered the following: XLB - amazing (we ordered 3 of them) Potstickers - decent Edamame - good Chicken fried rice - amazing (Johnny was right, it's really good) btw, the red things in the rice are jojoba(?). We already know Q brings you an exceptional hotpot experience. I've already been here 30 times. A good hotpot meal is all in the broth. They got the biggest selection of delicious and flavorful broths. My favorite was the Mongolian beef broth but they discontinued it. However, the mushroom broth is also fire and is now my favorite! But my review is not about the hotpot. My review is about their desserts. I had the golden buns yesterday and I can't stop thinking about it since. I never had deep fried mantou before and as cliché as it sounds it blew my mind. Rocked my world. Tickled my soul. I was so full I offered one of my buns to a friend. This is my favorite restaurant in Boston, first among much great food. The drinks are simply outstanding, especially the Mai-Tai and the Lychee Martini. They have a great collection of Japanese whiskies as well. The hot pot, which seems to be their most popular dish, is backed by some of the best broths in the city. Quality of meat and vegetables is always first rate, as is the sushi. The noodle dishes are fantastic, all having a wok seared flavor. The servers, bartenders are fantastic; there is always a manager/owner on site. All make you feel special. They are two of my favorites! Honestly, nothing at the Q tastes bad, everything is sooo tasty! They are a tad bit pricier than other hot pot places but 10000% worth it! The meat we ordered was around $12 per dish and the veggies ranged from $5-10 per dish. The waiters and waitresses here are super friendly and talkative. We did place an order for hand rolls that took a while to bring out, however one of the staff members, Lu, came out and apologized and compensated us with a bottle of Sake for the wait.
