HAPPY HOUR= half off appetizers w/ minimum one drink purchase AT THE BAR AREA ONLY! although it seems like most people come to this trendy restaurant for hot pot! we had a large group, so we got to try a lot of the appetizers! ---chicken wings were yummy! ---seafood salad was nice and spicy but not much seafood ---gyoza: good but hard to mess these up! ---sashimi: decent ---crab rangoon: not much flavor ---sushi: mediocre SKIP ---calamari: wasn't crispy!! my friend ordered the chicken fried rice from the regular menu & it was pretty good! The Q is my favorite spot for hot pot in allll the city - their spicy mala is the go to broth & they can accommodate a vegetarian broth along with gluten free options. Went here with some friends on a Friday night. It was super busy, and I can definitely see why. For starters, the food here is excellent. We ordered the classic mala, which was hot and spicy, as promised by the waiter. All the meats came in good sizes. I would definitely recommend trying the shrimp. This restaurant should be renamed to OG. Yes, OG as in the "original gangsta" of hotpot restaurants in Chinatown. I've been eating here for the past 3 years. I've seen the new hotpot restaurants poppin around Boston and even 2 more in Chinatown. After eating at the new spots, Q is still the King of hotpot. Q specializes in Mongolian style hotpot. Essentially a single giant bowl of broth for you to share with your party. You can divide the pot into 2 halves if you're feeling saucy about trying different broths. You do have to pay extra for broth depending on the style you want. They have killer lunch special combos that get you the cut of meat you want, platter of veggies, and a side of rice or noods. Veggies included are cabbage, bok choy, spinach, enoki, bella shrooms, tofu, and sometimes tomato. We got the lamb and the beef combos. Tasted the meats side by side. The lamb is easily softer and has the melt in your mouth effect. Wherever they get their lamb from, holy smokes it's delicious! You can add different items as desired such as a golden fish ball. This is their version of fish balls with exploding roe inside of them. Beware it does get hot, but it bursts with deliciousness in your mouth. My recent visit, I noticed they are stepping up their lunch sushi game with affordable sushi/sashimi lunch combos. I'm definitely trying these next time. Overall, Q is much more than just hotpot. You can get exceptional sushi and delicious chinese dishes if you're not in the hotpot mood. Also have a full bar.. need I say more? read more

I am a new dedicated Customer to Q. First of all, the food tonight was so delicious. The Antoinette Chicken Soup, the fish and chips, cheeseburger, and a corn on the cob appetizer. I had a cocktail to go. All delicious. My good friend told me the Cobb Salad is amazing and that will be next time. The corn on the cob I will most likely order everytime. The cocktail was big and rum and orange I forget the name now. I appreciate how easy it was to order and receive curbside pick up. Finally gave this place a shot after years of passing by LOL We made things super easy for our server - marked the entire menu with what we wanted, drinks, apps, food etc. I liked that there were different broth choices (ie black bone chicken and spicy beef tallow). Try the wagyu! It's a mouth-gasm. Beautiful marbling and so damn tender that it melts. Portions were generous. AND as busy as it was for a cold, Saturday night, everything came out so quickly! Another plus to combat the hanger. Overall- amazing food, great music (00's throwback playlist? Cant go wrong with that lol) and great ambiance. This is my second visit to the restaurant. I fell in love with their herbal broth 2 years ago when I first dined here. Good selection of meat for hotpot and the seafoods were fresh. This place never disappoints!!! Have been here on several occasions now and it is always a hit especially on rainy days or during the winter. The Tom yum broth, mala and crazy mala are our absolute favorites along with udon noodles, corn, lotus root, pumpkin, and potato. They are packed with flavor and give you quite a kick. Also love the litchi smoothie there and the sushi. Have never tried anything on the menu so far that I haven't liked. To all my vegetarian people there are plenty of options here to choose from. read more

My family always gravitates towards eating Asian food, so when we saw that there was a hot pot place near our hotel, we could not say no. The restaurant looked modern and clean and pop music was playing in the background, creating a comfortable atmosphere. We ordered a yin yang bowl with mala and black bone chicken broth, a lamb combo, a beef combo, a seafood combo, and glass noodles. Each combo came with a basket of vegetables as well. The broth was wonderfully flavorful, I didn't even use any of the sauces to dip my meat or vegetables in. The meat was also thinly sliced and pretty much melted in my mouth. I would definitely like to go back again sometime! read more

Sometimes there's a sandwich board set out on the sidewalk advertising Q Restaurant's weekday lunch specials, and the idea of hot pot for under $10 definitely caught my attention. Hot Pot Combos include their basic broth, veggie platter, and either S.T. noodles or steamed rice. Chicken Combo $7.95 Beef Combo $9.95 Lamb Combo $9.95 Veggie Combo $8.95 (mushroom platter and a larger portion of their Veggie platter) Pork Combo $8.95 Fish Combo $8.95 Shrimp Combo $8.95 I opted for their beef combo. Having previously perused their menu, from sit down to check on table, it was just under an hour - not bad for a work day lunch. Sauce fixings consisted of soy sauce, with satay sauce, scallion, garlic, cilantro, and chili sauce that you could add to your taste. The veggie platter was a basket of 2-3 types of green leafy vegetables, a half mushroom, one triangle of fried tofu, and a segment of corn. We promptly tossed those in to cook, then once the soup heated back up again, we swirled in one slice of beef at a time to keep them from over cooking. The noodles resembled yee mein, but smoother. Once tossed into the broth, it sprawled out and fought being gathered for consumption. We tried corralling them with the large soup spoon during their spa treatment, but some still escaped. It was a tasty meal, but a bit on the light side, even though we weren't particularly starving. Perhaps we ought to have ordered an appetizer or something to start with. And my DC prefers the greater variety of veggies to be had over at Shabu-Zen. read more

Best hot pot so far. The four of us recently had hot pot here. The food is super fresh, particularly the hand sliced beef and lamb for hot pot has the best quality you can possibly get. There are many options for sea food, fresh vegetables and tofu as well. Both meat lovers and vegetarians would love the food choices. It is amazing to see 15 options for broth and we picked 4 different flavors (JAPANESE TONKOTSU, ORIGINAL TOMATO, BLACK BONE CHICKEN and WILD MUSHROOM). Each of them is different and very flavorful. I can tell they are all freshly made from scratch using carefully selected ingredients. The service is also excellent and fast. FYI, advanced booking is highly recommended otherwise the waiting time can be as long as 1.5-2 hours. read more

I absolutely love Q restaurant. Whenever I'm asked about the best place in Boston for hotpot, it's always them! The food is always so fresh. The service is always top tier, as the waiters are very attentive. For example, I dropped one of my chopsticks as I was having dinner last night. I signal the waiter to come over so I can ask him for another pair and he already has some in his hand. I'm like wow how did you know? It's so loud in here. He kindly smiled and after so much experience, you learned the noise they make when they fall. I don't know who is in charge of the music but the playlist is always a vibe! Thanks Q! Popular Hot Pot spot. Popped into this place last minute before a show at the Shubert Theatre on a Friday night. Without reservations they could only squeeze us in at the sushi bar but we were thankful they were able to accommodate. We didn't have the hot pot (which is what this place is known for) but were very satisfied with their alternative offerings. We started with Japanese Pot Stickers and Crab Rangoon. I had Stir-Fried Udon Noodles with pork. My compadre had the chicken Pad Thai. Everything was good, served fast, and by friendly staff. I hope to revisit this place and try the hot pot soon (next time with a reservation). read more

My first experience here was a very positive one! I had passed by this place with its red awnings for a while and I'm glad I finally made it in. We came for lunch and had a sushi feast. The way the restaurant is laid out allows for little pockets that make our group feel intimate and the decor is really pretty. Our waiter was polite and efficient. We ordered 6 of the special rolls and they were all quite good. The sushi was fresh and beautifully presented and the sushi pizza was unexpected and very yummy. It wasn't inexpensive as our total bill came to $179 before the tip and we didn't have any drinks, but they did have lunch specials with sushi or hotpot that were more reasonable. It did get very busy shortly after we arrived, and that is always a good sign. I would definitely go back! read more
