I made a reservation for 2 at 5 pm. We didn't get our nails started until 5:30 which defeats the purpose of an appointment. I was very irritated by this because I am a nanny and had to get back to the house at a time so needless to say I was disappointed with the salon. Also very expensive for 2 gel manicures and 2 regular pedicures it came to $140 how does that even make sense!!! I've been thinking about reviewing my experience at Q Salon since I left there earlier today. Because I chose to come here based of the reviews that I read, I want to be as thorough as possible to help anyone else who needs to find a nail salon. First off, I would like to start by saying that I just moved to LA from Las Vegas. My previous salon, Polished, was phenomenal in every respect. I was actually really disappointed w| my experience at Q Salon. I actually have been battling on whether to give the salon 1, 2, or 3 stars. I went today & got a gel manicure, gel pedicure, & some waxing services (brazilian, underarm, lip & brow). I was 30 minutes late to my appointment. I called them to let them know & they were very nice about it & accommodating. To make this clear, if there were 3 tiers to nail salons, this would be in the second tier. The atmosphere is pretty nice. The chairs are very comfortable & I personally can't stand nail desks. It doesn't bother me for my hands nearly as much as it does for my feet. Well, the comfort level was nice. They do both manicures & pedicures in these chairs. What I do like about pedicures I have had elsewhere are the pedicure bowls w| the running water & jets. Q Salon did not have these. They bring a bowl of water for you to put your feet in. Needless to say, it didn't stay warm very long & took out some of the relaxation that I appreciate in pedicures. Nail Services: I'm 29 years old. I don't know if it is my age or maybe my industry (I'm a DJ), that makes me want my nails to be pretty & not necessarily "simple" or basic. Well, I usually have hard gel on my nails. I think it last longer & is more durable. Q Salon does not have hard gel. If you are looking of that, look elsewhere. More than 1/2 the staff was not familiar w| hard gel bc they tried to soak it off. I would have been there until next week w| that method. I had to actually tell them to get the drill thing & file it down. Had all my nails not already been ruined by the "soak off" method, I probably would have just gone elsewhere. I kind of regret not just leaving anyway. However, I was w| my mom & it was just too exhausting to deal w|. Back to wanting pretty nails... They do not have a very broad selection for gel colors & this is not the salon to go to if you want any art done to your nails. There is only one girl that could draw a heart on my nails & w| the way everyone else was coming around gawking, you would have thought she was reinventing the wheel. I felt like I was in a time warp. Actually, that would be the perfect way to describe how I felt. Again, I said that I was very spoiled at my last salon. However, now that I am used to cell phones, I wouldn't want to have to send mail via horseback & wait weeks for a response. I'm not saying this place isn't nice, I am just saying not to have high expectations. Frankly, it isn't for me. My pedicure was ok. Nothing to say either way. The nails are polished & that is that. Waxing Services: My original intention was to get the whole shebang. Full leg, brazilian, arms, underarms, lip & brow. Well, the girl wanted to start w| the brazilian. The wax was a little too hot. Imagine a brazilian w| wax that is a little too hot! Ok. Exactly. Now, the girl would put the wax on & then blow on it? Seems as though logic would tell you to blow on it & then apply. Whatever. You get the point. The benefit about her was that she was very thorough. I can appreciate that trait. The waxing services weren't anything I would go back for, the prices weren't at a point that would make it worth it to choose Q Salon over anywhere else. If I was getting my nails done & needed a quick wax (underarm, lip, or brow), I wouldn't mind doing it here. I actually feel that the waxing service earned Q Salon an extra star (making it 2 instead of 1). Pricing: This could be why I knocked down my nail services from a 2 star rating to only 1. They are extremely overpriced in my mind. My gel manicure service cost me $60 (which is usually standard w| art from my history). Then, for the two hearts (one on each of my ring fingers), they charged $20. My mom had about 10 rhinestones placed on each of her ring fingers for $10. She also had to wait over 30 minutes to have it done bc, as I mentioned before, only one girl knows how to do anything more than basic polishing. A total of $80 for a gel manicure. I will never go back to this place. In no way whatsoever was it worth it. One more time, this was just my experience. It isn't that the people aren't nice or the place isn't clean. I just wouldn't want to pay $30 for a latte at Starbucks anymore than I would want to pay $80 for an extremely basic gel manicure at Q Salon. I hope this helps any yelpers in the future. I've searched hard for a good, consistent, affordable nail salon and I finally found Q Salon. I called on a Sunday afternoon around 1pm and spoke with John. He was really pleasant, answered all of my questions, and offered me an appointment later that day. I explained that the mani/pedi was for my mom (who's in her late 60s and extremely picky). John assured me that they would do a great job. Mom and I arrived 15 minutes early for her appointment and John greeted my mother by name-she was immediately impressed. He quickly sat us down in their plush, over sized chairs and offered a choice of tea, water or juice. Mom opted for green tea which seemed to appear out of thin air. Next he introduced Christine (manicure) and Cindy (pedicure). Christine is a gem! She welcomed my mom again, thanked her for choosing Q and asked her preferences regarding her nails. Cindy soaked my mom's feet and immediately went to work. My mom raved about the green tea so Christine showed her the package and gave her an extra bag to take home. They chatted like old friends and by the end of my mother's mani/pedi, she felt like she'd known Christine for years. Her manicure was so beautiful they looked like gels (but weren't). Cindy also did a fantastic job on my mom's feet. And she made a normally crooked looking nail seem straight. Mom's approval is hard to earn, but Q Salon won her over. The staff is super sweet, friendly, caring, and meticulous about their work. I was surprised that the foot and hand massage was included (and not extra like at other places). Total was $45 for basic mani/pedi. Not bad. The price is worth the immaculately clean and inviting atmosphere and stellar work. Mom decided that every other Sunday at Q Salon is our girl time. the BEST manicure and pedicure I've had...EVER. I'm not exaggerating. I've been to multiple Bellacures and just about every nail salon on the spectrum of hole-in-the-walls to spa/salons. Q Salon was definitely the most comfortable, cleanest, and best overall mani and pedi. Free street parking on Sunday! Will be back soon, but probably won't have to be back for a few weeks b/c of the awesome mani I just had...and I usually need manis every week! read more

Two weeks ago Diane gave me the most AMAZING manicure I have ever had. She even mixed a gel color for me because I couldn't find one I liked (and it was perfect). Then, yesterday, I made the mistake of going to someone else (I didn't make an appointment), and had the WORST manicure of my life. When the nail tech was filing the clear coat off of my old gels to remove them, she wasn't careful and was actually filing my cuticles. She filed them so vigorously that the top layer of skin came off and my cuticles are raw, red and painful. The she proceeded to cut my already damaged cuticles even more, causing them to bleed. She was laughing and joking about cutting my finger as she was holding a dirty towel on my finger to stop the bleeding. I can't believe I actually had to pay for this nightmare. My cuticles are cut, red, swollen and throbbing, and I am worried that I will get an infection. I will absolutely be calling the health department on this place. read more

I've been trying to find a reliable nail salon in L.A. for years and keep coming back to Q Salon for its clean atmosphere and lovely nail technicians. This is not a quick in-and-out kind of place-they truly take their time and do a good job. I've always been very happy with the results of the mani and pedi I receive from them. I purchased a Gilt City voucher for a mani and deluxe pedi after reading reviews that Q was started by former Bellacures nail technicians. The experience did not disappoint. The facilities are new and clean. The ambiance is peaceful and relaxing. My mani and pedi were both fantastic. Extra points to my pedicure tech, who was kind enough to carefully re-bandage a very stubbed toe during my pedicure. She definitely went above and beyond, as in my opinion, changing bandages is NOT part of her job description. I will definitely be back. read more

I want to love this place and they do a good job. But if I call to make an appointment and they tell me to come at a certain time, I expect to come at that time and have someone to do both my mani and my pedi at that time. But usually, they only have one person working on me at a time so a mani/pedi takes forever. Also, often I come in and have to wait (one time I waited about 45 minutes after my appointment time before they started either my mani or my ped)i. For the prices they charge, they should be on time or close to it. However, they do a great job when they do get to me so I will give them 4 stars. read more

Q salon is wonderful! tiffany and christine are the two lovely sisters who opened this immaculate, highest-quality, detail-obsessed salon last year. i have been a fan of these two ladies for years, having first met them when they worked at bellacures on robertson. i was happy to follow them and support their perfect little salon. i will not go anywhere else now, because the level of quality at q salon is impossible to beat. cleanliness is paramount: the instruments are all auto-claved, the foot soaking tubs all have disposable liners, they use rubber gloves, etc. and the work is so good. i'm a crazy detail-eyed virgo and the manicures and pedicures i've gotten here are simply the best! the massage is heaven, the music is relaxing and there's always a friendly vibe. hoooooray for Q! read more

Service was clean and friendly. The chairs were a little uncomfortable, since I'm so short and I don't have long legs to extend galoor for the pedi. Interestingly, they use the plastic disposable tubs instead of the built in ones with the massage chairs. They also have a great selection of colors with great brand names like Essie, OPI, and Zoya. This place is awful. I can't believe they have such good reviews. The woman who cut my cuticles cut them so low that I was in pain for weeks. Three of us went and we all caught some awful flu because the woman doing our nails was coughing and sick. Employees who will be in direct contact with people should not work when they are sick. I was with my girlfriend and we needed time to kill before our next plans. After looking on yelp, we decided to try this place. What I loved besides the great job that they did on my nails was how quiet it was for it being busy. Yes no one was one the phone pretending to be someone. We were all there for one simple reason, pamper us and let us relax. They did just that. My gel mani lasted 2 weeks it could have lasted longer but I wanted to go back for th experience again. Q Salon is the best nail salon I have ever been to! Cleanliness is always my top priority and they absolutely passed the test on this one. Each person gets a freshly sterilized bag of tools which is always nice. These are the same bags you see in doctor's offices so that is comforting. Q Salon even takes the extra step to include a blurb in their brochure about the process they use for sterilizing tools so you can tell they have done their research. Now onto the actual manicure/pedicure: I have used both Tiffany and Christine and they both do an exquisite job. They take time to make sure your hands and feet look perfect before you walk out the door. They give a great hand and foot massage too! Another important detail they pay attention to is the color selection. Most places I have been to (even the most fancy ones) don't always have new bottles of polish and this affects the manicure you get. At Q, all of their polish bottles look brand new and fresh and they always have the most popular colors. I'm a huge fan so I had to share with everyone :) read more

Q Salon is the only place in LA that I go to get my nails done! I have been seeing Tiffany and Kristine for manis and pedis for over 6 years and they are the best. Since they opened their own salon I have seen some of the new technicians and they are all wonderfully trained by the two of them. The salon is beautiful! It is so clean and comfortable I love going there to relax and unwind with some pampering. Parking is a breeze with tons of meters and free spots on side streets. Christine and Laura did my toes and nails simultaneously. I could not have had a better experience!!! Laura asked if I wanted to upgrade my pedicure to one that would remove my stubborn (and ugly, definitely not feminine) calluses on my heels. It crossed my mind that they were trying to make an extra 10 bucks, but I was on vacation in Beverly Hills and opted to spoil myself. I am SO glad she asked. My feet are perfect! They were embarrassing and scaly before. My nail polish is immaculate and they were patient when I changed my mind like 5 times, getting up for me to get my new choice. They spoke English and asked about my trip so far. Knowing I was a tourist they told me about all the celebrities they see which was super entertaining for me. I got a mini manicure and regular pedicure last Saturday. I was excited to try this place out but I am pretty disappointed with the results. My nails are peeling from the nail bottom and it's been only 3 days since I got them done. I could probably do a much better job myself. I know I got a mini nail but I don't think that's an excuse for them to not paint them well. I just didn't want to do anything with my cuticles since I recently got my nails done. As for my pedicure, I could really do a better job myself for sure. The nail polish was so thick it didn't apply smoothly at all. I won't blame the technician since she had no control over that. Still they should check on the polish to make sure that they are actually use-able. I ended up with streaky and glunky toes which kind of sucks. Also since the formula of the polish was so thick the polish went everywhere so my technician used her nails to scrape off whatever went on my skin. I understand when she does it once or twice but it was painful since she kept doing it. Ouch I would definitely not return. read more

No massage chairs. no frills. no water or tea was offered to me - and the first person to work on my pedi put my feet in scalding water and though i kept pulling them out she didn't react or offer to cool the water down. Yes I could have spoken up -but doesn't "ow" and pulling my feet out several times say enough? Second lady was angry. kept pushing my hands down! seemed perturbed i was there at all.
