Came here to order takeout on a late Saturday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised! I ordered an order of the dragon dumplings and yin yang dumplings and salt and pepper chicken wings. The dumplings came with 10 each and both came with special soy sauce (jalapeño soy sauce, chili soy sauce). My favorite of the 2 are the yin yang dumplings because I personally love chives in dumplings but the dragon dumplings were good too. The salt and pepper chicken wings on the other hand were just mediocre. The oder came with two paper bowls and forks which was nice considering we could eat outside if we wanted to. Overall would recommend if you're in the Oakland area and craving dumplings but not to die for. read more

Great dumplings! The shrimp and scallop dumplings were my favorites, but the Green Dragon spinach and mushroom dumplings were a close second. The chicken and pork "ying yang" dumplings were also fantastic. The staff were friendly and quick. Prices were reasonable. Portions were generous. I like this place a lot, and look forward to returning. They do have beer and wine available, which was omitted from the third party online menu I found, which I was happy to see. Just left this restaurant & though I am beyond full, I am excited to go back already. Service was amazing. Super friendly, made recommendations for next time based off what was ordered this time, brought some of THE BEST apricots from their backyard (I've never had one so juicy with such amazing flavor & the perfect sweetness, I know they're not on the menu but I hope you get to try one!) at the end of our visit. The food... I don't know where to begin. I was shocked at how much came out, I thought portions were going to be smaller. We ordered the Ying Yang & Green Dumplings as well as the Soy Glazed Pork Belly Sliders & the Basil Garlic Potato Bites, & everything was beyond delicious. I would order the potatoes again with a group but be aware the dish is large. The green goddess dip that came with it paired unexpectedly well. I couldn't get enough of the Ying Yang Dumplings & was sad I couldn't finish them at the table. The Green Dumplings with their sauce were very earthy in a sweet way, so good. The sliders... wow. My partner and I were actually on our way to grab sushi when we stopped into Qi. A rainy Saturday afternoon so it was pretty empty but we were SUPER hungry so that worked for us. The hostess got us seated really quickly and took our drink orders (they were out of a few wines unfortunately). We ended up ordering the coconut shrimp, dragon dumplings, pork belly sliders, and ginger lamb. Everything was delicious and so fresh! My favorite was definitely the dragon dumplings. Something about that kick of wasabi is really top tier! My only complaint was table size and lack of wine available, but I'm sure the food would be equally as delicious in takeout form. Dumplings aren't cheap! The dumplings were the star of the show and with that being your restaurant name, one would hope. I liked the seafood ones the least. They were filled, but it was a little intense. The pork potstickers and firecracker wontons were my favorite. Each dumpling container was accompanied with a small container of sauce. (I do wish the container was dumpling size so you could just dunk it in, but alas...) I didn't sample the rice, but the noodles with beef and broccoli were solid. Nothing to write home about, but the noodles were doughy and everything was well cooked. From ordering online to bringing additional items to your car, they are super helpful. I ordered the cilantro mushroom chicken sui Mai and hot and sour soup and both were delicious. The dumplings were so flavorful and the vinegar served as a dipping sauce really melded the flavors well together. The hot and sour soup was a substantial serving and packed with tofu, mushrooms, and bamboo shoots. Broth was a little sour and a little spicy, well balanced. I ordered a couple other items, but they weren't worthy of a review. Lesson learned: when dinning at a restaurant with dumpling in the name, stick to the dumplings and you won't be disappointed. read more

I would say 3.5 stars. We had a baby two months back and so cooking at home in the beginning was tough so our friends gave us grubhub as a gift to order food from outside - genius idea! We were feeling like asian cuisine so gave Qi Dumpling a try! Between the two of us we ordered: - pot stickers - garlic noodles - minced pork with braised eggplant Pot stickers were really nice and surprisingly not soggy eventhough this is home delivery - we weren't the biggest fan of the sauce they came with though. Garlic noodles were flavorful, thick and delicious - yummy! I was really excited about the braised eggplant dish but unfortunately it was swimming in oil - major disappointment on this dish, although the pics people have taken at the restaurant itself doesn't seem to be so oily so would love to actually go there and give it another try! All in all it was good food, huge portions (we finished everything but overate) and good pricing. Their location is pretty close to everything so kudos! read more

An interesting little Chinese restaurant in the Lakeshore area. Ordered the sizzling rice soup (yummy!), dragon dumplings, pot stickers, pork belly sliders, string beans. My favorite were the dragon dumpling with seafood inside. Moist with a a wasabi sauce. The pot stickers were small inside but quite tasty. The pork belly sliders were served like Peking duck. A bun for each piece of pork belly with cucumber and hoisin sauce to add to your bun. A cute place if you just want to choose from only few different types of Chinese food items. read more

I love Dim Sum, and one of my favorite things to eat are Soup Dumplings and Potstickers. I order these everywhere, and use them as a barometer for quality. Decent place, good location, not good service... Let's get on to the food... We ordered the Su Mai, Soup Dumplings, Potstickers, Green Onion Pancake, and string beans. They were all good; nothing outstanding, but good... They were all fresh made, the Su Mai were some of the better ones in Oakland. The Soup Dumplings and Potstickers could have used more aromatics (ginger, garlic) in the filling and were a bit bland. The string beans were very good, and the pancake was nice too. I have eaten Soup Dumplings all over the place, and they are usually served with Black Vinegar and shredded ginger. I asked for these, and my server acted like I insulted him. I informed that is how they are usually served, and asked for those items. He continued to justify why he did not serve them that way, although acknowledging that is how they should be served. He refused to try and get those items for me even after 3 attempts. My server acted like he had forgotten he was in the service industry, continued to convince me that I did not need those items, and made no attempt to get them for me. After talking to him, I found out he was the owner. Wow! I could not believe he would be unhelpful. So service here is bad... the owner is too wrapped up in his own ego, and places that can't accommodate a customer's simple request like this should shut their doors; or get better servers... Therefore I am docking 1+ star... The decor was simple, and contemporary. A nice simple setting, more open than the typical Chinese restaurant. It was clean, and so were the bathrooms... The parking could be an issue as it's location is right on Grand, but we walked there... I may try it again, but honestly my interaction with the owner makes me reticent. Be warned! read more

Those are the time Chinese foods were meant to vaguely resemble what hard laborers ate at home, and whatever intrigue those who never had good Chinese foods. Of course, over the decades, Qi had improved vastly. Then I wouldn't compare the fares to the modern fine cuisines that define authenticity these days. I wouldn't refuse to come. Pre-pandemic I used to go here at least a few times a month, but now I just do pick up and I still love them! The staff is always really courteous and super nice! The food tastes fresh and is well made. I don't get the MSG thirst when I eat here ever and I'm pretty sensitive to it which Some favorites: - Firecracker wonton dumplings - Chicken and cilantro Sui Mai - Mongolian chicken or beef - Wonton soup I usually need to pick up food during a work break and reheat it later so I ask food to be packed in the foil take away containers and they have done it every time so I make sure to tip well. This unassuming place is easy to miss while walking down Grand Ave, but it's worth keeping an eye out for. The promise of dumplings and noodles got me right into the door and it was one of the best impromptu dinner decisions I've ever made. Qi Dumpling Lounge offers a variety of dumplings, as the name would suggest, as well as noodle and rice dishes. I'd heard good things about the firecracker won tons so I made sure to get an order of those, as well as the yin yang dumplings and the potstickers, and the Szechuan pork noodles. Everything came out pretty fast and all of the wait staff were really nice people. The yin yang dumplings were a light, vegetable based dumpling, while the potstickers were cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside with just a bit of chew left in the wrapper. Both dumplings came with delicious dipping sauces. But the firecracker won tons were the star of the meal: outstanding won tons in a spicy chili oil and sesame sauce that wasn't overwhelmingly hot but instead just the right kick of heat. Incredible. When the noodles were bought to the table the waitress mixed them for us to make sure the noodles got coated with the delicious spicy peanut pork sauce. They were the perfect accompaniment to the dumplings. I washed everything down with a refreshing jasmine green iced tea. For three dumpling plates, the noodles, three iced teas, and a bowl of steamed rice, the total came out to just over $50.00. It was a lot of food and everything was amazing. This place is AMAZING. I am so glad I came to try it despite it having some lower reviews for delivery delays. I wish Yelp had a separate section to indicate stars for things like that because it can be misleading. I would give Qi Dimpling 10 stars for the food quality if I could! We did not have a reservation and were seated right away. We were starving and almost over ordered when the owner actually convinced us to hold off on the extra dish (this never happens and we appreciated it because he was absolutely correct our eyes were bigger than our stomachs). We had the ying yang dumplings, string beans and beef chow mein. Everything was incredible! I think the dumplings may have been the best I've ever eaten, you could taste how fresh each ingredient was. Decided to grab a quick bite after we shopped at IKEA and found this place, it looked pretty good. We ordered pork soup dumplings (were not great) we only had 3 of them, Hawaiian fried rice (nothing special, but was the best part of our order), and grab Rangoon (there was no crab, only cream cheese). We were not very happy with our order. The customer services wasn't great either, the person who took our order was a bit rude and didn't provide any napkins, soy sauce, or cutlery. Mehhh. Food was okay, and service wasn't great. The boyfriend and I couldn't decide to eat, so as usual I looked at my bookmarks. This place was on here asking with a few other options nearby. I ran the list of restaurants by him, and he chose this. We came here at about 7pm. Theres street parking and lots around the area. Parking around her can be difficult, so we just parked at the first spot we saw. Free parking after 6pm, score! The interior is very nice and modern with an Asian feel. It looks very nice, as it should being that it's on Grand ave. We were seated as soon as we walked in. At this time there were only about 4 tables occupied, so it wasn't busy. We took a look at the menu, and within a few minutes we already knew what we wanted to order. We kept trying to wave someone down to take our order, but it's as if everyone had tunnel vision and only focused straight ahead. Then when we finally got someone's attention she told us she would be right back. Which she did after a few minutes... We ordered: *Cilantro mushroom chicken Shu mai- it was all right, it lacked flavor and the vinegar didn't go well with it. *Ying yang dumplings- plain, but the sauce helped a tad bit *Pork belly sliders- not bad while hot, but mehh when cold because the sauce was salty (put very little). *Spicy garlic wings- the best thing we ordered! It looked like it was going to be too saucy and sweet, but the sauce complemented the crispy fried juicy chicken very well. *Mongolian chow mein- okay, it wasn't too bad, but it wasn't great either. After we ordered, we waited and waited for our food. More people started coming in, and tables were getting full. We finally got our food, and that was the last we saw of the waitresses. We ran out of water midway. We kept trying to wave someone down for water, but like I said before... tunnel vision. We finished out food with no drops of water left. At this point, I didn't even want to ask and wait for water. I piled my dishes together to show them that we were done eating and ready for the bill, but still no one. I even started to rest my head on my hand because I was getting tired of waiting. Finally, someone looked my way and I quickly asked for the check. She told us to hold on again. Ummm, we've been holding on... we have no water, no one ever checked on us after the food came out, and we are ready to just get out already. Another lady came, and we asked for our check, she brought it to us even before the other lady even came back to see what we needed. That is just horrible! For the price you pay at a location like this, you would expect better service at the least. It was my turn to pick the restaurant with my friends and I decided to give this new restaurant a try as they like to try new restaurants. Qi Dumpling Lounge has only been open for 3 weeks. It was previously the location of a Thai restaurant and is conveniently located on Grand right next to the public parking lot. We walked in and were impressed by the decor which was welcoming and comfy. We were served a big carafe of water with lemon which is refreshing as well as a dish of cabbage salad and also got a refill. We started out with potstickers, then ordered the soy glazed pork belly sliders, lettuce wraps, spicy garlic honey wings, Buddhist Delight and dry braised eggplant, mild spicy. The food came out one by one and we tasted everything with delight. The flavors are delicious. Potstickers came out nice and hot, lettuce wrap meat was tasty and crunchy but they used romaine lettuce instead of iceberg lettuce wraps, the soy glazed pork belly slicers were to die for, yum yum, and the spicy garlic honey garlic wings were big and delish. We also had a huge portion of Buddist Delight (or monk food or jai as some people call it). It was hot and flavorful but missing my favorite wood ears! Hubby wanted his dumplings again so we tried this new place near the Lake....this is smaller type restaurant, very simple and cool, the menu was easy to order from..... We ordered the first noodle on the menu....Szchewan noodles, it was so good, with a touch of spice......almost like a jia jerng mein from other places but with pickled veggies instead...... Next we got the pork n chive dumplings, very big and delish, with a hint of ginger.....the dipping sauce was greatly paired, it was soy sauce with jalapenos, not sure what else was in there but the flavors were there..... Lastly, we ordered their potstickers, so thin and delish, we just had to get another one....you know a place is good when everything on the table is devoured.....lol Service was pretty good, thanks for such a nice pleasant meal, the hubs liked it very much, we will be back..... read more

Review #365 - 2018 I read some good reviews about this place so I decided to place an order via GrubHub & made my way over on a rainy day. I sent my son in while I waited in the car since I couldn't find any parking spot nearby so I ended up double parking out front for a few minutes. When we got home, some of the sauces had leaked since the bag wasn't very well packed. We ordered the ying yang dumplings, dragon dumplings and firecracker pork wontons. All of the dumplings were good, but our favorite was the firecracker pork wontons. It was very flavorful. The big boss fried rice was pretty bland, while the vegetarian garlic noodles were pretty good. My daughter actually ate the majority of the garlic noodles as she prefers noodles over anything else.
