You can upgrade to a larger pot for more meat. Docked 1 star off for availability; others in my party tried to order the Thai flavor soup and the Japanese miso - both were out of stock. Milk tea is good here too - we tried the assam milk tea and the green milk tea (3.5/5) both were on the sweet side at regular sweet - I'd definitely modify this if you're sensitive. read more

We came here to redeem my man's birthday dinner and he got a beef pot and jasmine green milk tea on the house! I also got the beef hot soup and it really hit the spot. We came for lunch with my parents. And it was extremely hot outside. It was over 100F outside, since we were on waitlist and there was one person ahead of us, we wanted to stay indoor to void the heat, we came support your business, least you guys care for your customer by providing us chairs to sit inside and wait, you guys told us to wait outside under the heat and my parents are over 60years old, I literally told her that it's hot outside and she still insisted us have to wait outside. Love that they have a wide variety of soup bases and ingredients, so we never get bored, and with the cool AC blasting year-round we can do hot pot even in the middle of summer without melting lol. I ordered their beef hotpot and since it was a lunch special time, it came with a free drink- and I got the iced green tea. The food came out in around 10 minutes or so and is served on a small hot with a fire beneath to keep the broth hot. The hotpot comes with quite a variety of ingredients like meatballs, fishball, veggies, tofu, and corn. They even provide an extra bag of vermicelli to add if you want extra. However, the pot is actually pretty shallow and there isn't that much inside although there is a variety. So it wasn't super filling if you have a big appetite or are really hungry. The beef quality is not bad though and I enjoyed the broth. I think its a good hotpot option if you don't want to eat too much and like to have a variety of ingredients but not too much. When my boyfriend and I arrived to the Boiling Point - Arcadia, the tablet where you checked into prior, was covered by a QR code, that forces you to allow your location because you can only join when you are there. There is no indication of how many groups are in front of you, or how long the approximate wait is... and no staff in sight for me to inquire with... Visually it looked like 3 groups of 2 and 1 group of 6 before us, which wouldn't be bad. But it turns out a bunch of people were waiting in their cars. The wait was 50 minutes!! Had I known so many people were in front of us, I would have gone elsewhere. My boyfriend ordered his usual #4 Beef ($20.35/dinner) and I ordered my usual #6 Milk Cream Curry ($20.26/dinner). The prices continue to increase but the ingredients are reduced and swapped with inferior alternatives. When the weather is cold, my body yearns for hot pot to nourish myself but waiting for nearly an hour in the cold was counter productive to my health. I also want to point out that they didn't allow anyone to wait inside. I love my soup to be boiling hot. You can get free refills on the soup when running low. But what boiling point does best is their dipping sauces: spicy garlic bean paste and Garlic Soy. Dip everything in it. There have been many restaurants that try to imitate them, but none have come close. And don't sleep on their drinks. My favorite is the Hokkaido Milk Tea, half sweet with Egg Pudding. Their egg pudding is some of the best that I've had, it is creamy and smooth. I love BP! To get on the waitlist, you need to turn on location services for your internet browser. (It's some website... not through yelp) Once seated, my friend and I were able to look at the menu via the QR code. I got the rose milky and really liked it!! It's a nice subtle milky flavor and didn't have any rose taste. lol! We also got free drinks w our lunch. I got the green tea but didn't realize it was sweetened. The staff were really nice. I remember the days of getting out early and going to eat hotpot with all my friends with their lunch special hahaha I really do feel like this spot is an 626 staple. You choose from a small, but mighty, menu of different broth flavors + toppings. It's a pretty speedy process as they bring the pot to you with all the goodies cooked. Then lighting that chafing fuel so the food is hot for as long as you want! The beef hot pot is a classic and always my favorite. Beware of going above mild for spice as it gets pretty fiery in my opinion. I do feel the consistency hasn't changed one bit. Although I do miss the days of the enoki mushroom but I'll live....maybe Sometimes parking can be a bit tough when there's a lot of families during prime dinner hour. However not impossible to snag a spot on the adjacent streets. This was my first time experiencing hot pot and it was SENSATIONAL! I already knew going in that this would be a fantastic experience solely based on the fact that my friend chose it as a lunch spot for us. ALWAYS trust your foodie friends; they know the way ;) There's 2 hour parking right outside the restaurant and if you can't find a spot there, there's plenty of street parking available. The dining room was spacious and was also PACKED with folks who were out for lunch. While the menu was compact, there was still plenty of variety! I was debating between the Taiwanese Special and the beef. I ultimately went with the latter, since the spice level for the Taiwanese Special as Flaming Spicy. I'd like to ease into that spicy experience eventually, just not today! Along with the beef hot soup (with medium spice), I ordered the winter melon juice - which was DIVINE! It was just sweet enough, supremely flavorful, and refereshing. Within a handful of minutes, our hot soup/stoves were delivered to us and we dove right in! The flavor of the broth as well as the variety of accoutrements were absolutely delicious! The fish cakes, cabbage, and tempura were my favorite of the bunch. I will ABSOLUTELY be coming back to Boiling Point to try more menu options, the next time I'm craving something soupy. Another point I would like to note is that although the price has increased a bit in the last ~5 years (which is what my old review was highlighting), their quality and portions have remained consistent. I understand that price increases of everything are to be expected, but I think I had written that because it felt steeper than other places. One minor change is that black tea is not an option for the lunch drink anymore, so the options are green tea or wintermelon tea. Honestly, I eat here way more than "on occasion", I am back at least twice a month (why did I even write that before). My favorite is always the House Special with vermicelli because it has a variety of ingredients inside, all of which I love. The other locations parking is a bit difficult in my opinion. Overall the broth was delicious and the food was delicious smelling - I got the house special and the intestine was sooo yummy, not too pungent and just perfect texture. I came here the other day to enjoy some hot pot with my boyfriend and the place is small. We were told about some certain deals on Instagram to try and this was our reason to visit. We both ended up having the beef hot pot and with the deal on Instagram, we got a free appetizer and drink with no extra charge. The waiter was nice, but the bus boy who was cleaning after the tables spilled a lot of soup near my boyfriend and didn't apologize for spilling on his white shoes. The bus boy kept walking like nothing happen and didn't come back to clean the soup he spilled; which was a lot because other customers were able to witness that. As for the ambiance, don't be surprised if it feels freezing while you're waiting for your food. They seem to keep the thermostat around 60 degrees, but you'll warm up fast once you start eating. As for the service, it's nothing amazing, but nothing bad either. Pretty standard and efficient. What keeps me coming back is the consistency. I know they raised their pricing under the premises of higher quality and double the meat. I went yesterday and not only was there less meat, the food in the hotpot was lower quality. The noodles are not the same, they don't even give the tofu skin that they used to, and the rice cake isn't even rice cake!! It is honestly so disappointing to me just because I love boiling point but now the prices went up for lower quality and less meat. I went with my two friends and all three of us had stomach problems the next day... I don't know if I will come back after that experience! Service and ambience in the Arcadia location is top notch and lives up to the high standards that this chain has established for the individual hot pot business. My only qualm is perhaps the overly ambitious pace of change on the BP menu itself, as well as changes/tweaks made to some of my favorites on the menu. For example, The Taiwanese Spicy hot pot was always my to-go, however, they made significant modifications in the recipe, adding a large amount of enoki mushrooms and tofu that diluted the flavor of the once aromatic and pungent dish. I appreciate the novelty, but in this case, some things are better left untouched. Overall, still worth visiting, but perhaps past its prime in my humble opinion! read more
