We came in recently to redeem our SGV Food Passport for 1 order of the mixed pan fried dumplings. The parking is typically not bad around the evening time. The location is always busy and sometimes 80% full. They have maybe 8-10 tables inside. We came in and were seated quickly the staff was awesome she explained everything about our SGV redemption and we orders some XLB dumplings as well. We both redeemed our deals as ended up with 20 free pan fried dumplings. We got to try 4 types of the pan fried plates. We ate the chicken, shrimp & cabbage, fish and pork. These are some of BEST pan fried dumplings in the SGV. These tasted even better than the first time we came here. I'm happy they still deliver on quality of food and quality of service! Luscious Dumpling is really good! I had the beef noodle soup combination with some pork dumplings, and overall, I really enjoyed the food. The flavors were great, and I'd definitely come back. My biggest concern, though, was that the hot beef noodle soup was served in a plastic bowl, and all of the utensils were plastic as well. Serving very hot soup in plastic makes me wonder about the potential for microplastics or other chemicals leaching into the food. If you're concerned about plastic coming into contact with hot food, this is definitely something to keep in mind. We added an extra order of their Steamed Pork Soup Dumplings to support the business. Altogether, we got 10 free pan-fried dumplings and paid for the 8 steamed dumplings. We only spent $20, what a steal! The pan-fried dumplings are a must-try! The cook was consistent on all of them. The dough had a bit of a crisp and a soft chew to it. The proteins were perfect and seasoned well. We've had their pork soup dumplings before, it was as luscious as we remembered! The fat from the pork broth made me smack my lips - that's how I know it was good! Our server - Melissa - was awesome! She was attentive, helpful, and welcoming. I would say if you want a hefty dumpling this is the place. If you remember the original location, the dumplings taste similar but not fried as well. My mom used to order us luscious dumplings in San Gabriel but that location has since closed. We typically get pork potstickers and beef noodle soup. This place in Monrovia is not as good as the San Gabriel location once was. Pork potstickers, 7/10: lacking any crispiness or textural differences. It came soaking and oil, and too wet. It could have been from the condensation of the to go box it was in. Slightly too salty. Otherwise, the pork was seasoned well and they gave a generous amount of filling as well. I like how the dumpling wrapper is not too thick and it holds up well. Pig ear, 5.8/10: not spicy enough for me. The pig ear itself was too soft, definitely overcooked. Additionally, the pig air was cut up into too many pieces so there wasn't really a chew. Beef noodle soup, 6.8/10: noodles are too soft. Noodles are too starchy as well. They used to give a bigger amount of beef shank. Now, it's reduced to small amounts of beef cubes. The broth, however, taste very well seasoned and is deep in flavor. This broth is very comforting. The dumplings are flavorful, the wrappers have that nice chew, and everything comes out hot and satisfying. It's the reason I keep giving this place another chance. Unfortunately the service has been really rough lately. The last visit in particular had one person working the front who moved extremely slow while a line of people kept building up. What made it more frustrating was that a lot of the delay came from repeatedly getting one customer's order wrong, which happens, but there was no sense of urgency and no acknowledgment or apology to everyone else who had been standing there waiting. When you're just trying to grab a quick meal, that kind of experience really stands out. It's not about the wait itself, it's about the lack of consideration for the other customers. I still think the food is solid and that's what keeps me coming back, but the service definitely needs improvement. I really appreciate how simple but delicious each food items are. The inside restaurant is small so it is hard to be seated. But the service is always nice and fast! One thing that I do hate is how they use plastic containers for even dining in. Even for the hot soup. I dont like that at ALL because heat + plastic is such a bad combination. read more
