Skipped coming for a couple years but tried again this summer. This time I tried one of their specialties the Brazilian stew and clam chowder. Both unique takes. Others had the whole Maine lobster dinner and the fried scallops. All were good at best. Unfortunately the exact same dining result as my previous tries a few years ago. Great friendly service, but very average food at very high prices - even for Stone Harbor. And no longer BYOB, which is another disappointment. They specifically tell you not to bring your own wine in red letters in their FAQs. read more

One of our go-to's at the shore. We stopped going regularly a few years ago as we felt the quality of food had begun to suffer. Then two years ago, after the ownership closed their restaurant in Cape May, Quahog's really stepped it up again. There's a ton that we like on the menu and we order different dishes most times that we go but I almost always order the fish special, whatever it is. Honestly my favorite seafood restaurant on the island. It's a little noisy and crowded but the service was great, and the food is awesome. There are Cajun influences to the menu, so if you're spice-averse check the menu first. read more

Let me just say that all the years I've been doing to SH I've been dying to try this place. We made reservations though yelp while on the beach today. We arrived at 5:15 for 5:30 reservations, we were sat on the patio immediately. This place reminds me of something on the west coast. It's not visually fancy by any means but the food is. We were immediately greeted by our server. He was great! He throughly explained the menu and the specials. We started with 2 appetizers tonight. First was the Quahogs flatbread. It ricotta, olive oil, clams, bacon and arugula. Normally seafood and cheese is a no no for me, this was a home run though. The flat bread was crispy but soft and the flavors were of the chart. Second was the fried hamachi collar. It was a yellowtail collar lightly fried with eel sauce. It was just okay. It was very tender and light but it has a strong fishy taste. It wasn't my favorite. The sauces accompanied with it were very good. They also give you a bean dip to snack on while you're waiting. It was good. For entrees I went with the barbacoa Del Mar and the wife has the lobster ravioli. The ravioli were fantastic! They were in a San marzano cream sauce with bay scallops. They were to die for! My entree was very good. The short rib was fork tender and the scallops were cooked just right. They were a bit skimpy with the portion size for the price of $33.00. I only got a quarter piece of corn and 2 scallops. The entree was good though, just wish I got a bit more for the money. Overall we had a great meal and we would stop back in. The shack is a byo but they do sell bottles of wine and sangria. Keep in mind though that the wine is pricey as is the food. The food is very good and the plating is beautiful and not something you typically see at the beach. Solid 4 stars though. read more

Sorry to say, but the quality of the seafood at this restaurant has gone downhill significantly. Empanadas, both traditional and seaside varieties, were pretty good appetizers. Unfortunately, things went downhill fairly quickly. The famous pacu fish ribs had very little sauce. More concerning, however, was that the fish just did not taste fresh. My wife ordered the paella special, which was a relatively skimpy portion with extremely small mussels, although the rice and broth were tasty. My blackened flounder was good, but nothing particularly memorable. I don't even remember what our daughter had for dinner, but it was forgettable. I talked up the fish ribs so much to our daughter and it did not come close to living up to its reputation, not to mention my memory of how good it was last summer. We thought that this place was going to be just another tourist fried fish house but we really enjoyed everything about this restaurant. Had a lovely dinner here on my last night in Stone Harbor. The interior is very cute, I loved the vibe. It is BYOB so pick up a bottle of chilled white wine to enjoy with your meal. Our waiter Brody was very chill. We found his laid back surfer attitude amusing and charming. I didn't know that this place was featured on Triple D before making our reservation but was glad to know it had the Guy Fieri seal of approval. We started the meal with some oysters, a jersey tomato salad with mozzarella & balsamic, and clam chowder. The oysters were good, the salad was fresh and delicious with pretty decent tomatoes despite it being a bit early in the season, but the clam chowder was really the star. It was a bit thicker and less chunky than chowders I've had in the past but the taste was stellar. It had some kind of herb oil drizzled over top which smelled amazing. I would definitely recommend the chowder. For entrees we both opted for surf & turf type meals. I had the land & sea which had a half rack of pork ribs and a skewer of shrimp in BBQ sauce. I wasn't crazy about the shrimp smothered in BBQ sauce, but the ribs were very good. I was generally underwhelmed with the dish, if I'm honest, the fries it came with weren't good and the other sides were lack luster. My boyfriend had the Barbacoa something with short rib and scallops. He enjoyed it, I thought the short rib was dry and lacking flavor. The 'fish ribs' they are known for didn't sound appealing to me but I saw some woman send them back so I suppose I'm glad I didn't order them. In short, it's a pretty good restaurant but some of the entrees are a bit strange. I would go back for another try and to see what the taco shack is all about. read more

Got to enjoy a feast at Quahog's on a bustling Saturday night, what an awesome spot! The entire team was on their game, and we had a fabulous meal and a great night. We grabbed a few drinks at the bar while we were getting seated, and I was a fan of the beer list - lots of very cool options, both local and international. The vibe and ambiance​ is very chill and beachy, and I really dug it. Our server, Dom, was great - quick with everything and great with his recommendations. Really top notch. We started with the beef empanadas, the chickpea salad and the chips and guac - really great. I was particularly a fan of the beef empanadas, and will have to try the seafood ones next time. I had an oyster shooter as well, and that was a triumph. I took the recommendation on my entree, and am glad I did! The Moqueca Stew was delicious - clams, mussels, shrimp, fish, scallops, bacalao, edamame, chorizo, achiote oil, coconut milk and green rice. We had the absolute worst dinner experience tonight. We were rudely rushed through dinner and had chairs slammed next to us while the staff was forcing us out, all while the food was extremely sub par. The manager was very immature- when asked why we were forced out, she laughed and said "Have a nice night!" As Stone Harbor regulars, this is completely unacceptable and a disgrace! We will never patronize this establishment again! Edited to add: The response by the restaurant is completely false and fabricated. We have friends who have also recently had extremely negative experiences here, including rude waitstaff and terrible food. Correct in saying this is not a good fit...for anyone. read more

Every single thing we ordered was incredible! Started with the Crab Hushpuppies, amazing! So good, we ordered another one. Among our group we enjoyed the Seafood Stew (longtime favorite and all-time favorite entree) and Fish Tacos. The latter were the best I've ever had, truly!! So good! You can't go to Quahogs and not get the Pacu fish ribs. They are the bomb! We also had the fried scallops (melt in your mouth) which came with fries and extra vinegary slaw that was not my favorite. I would definitely prefer a salad or vegetable instead. My boyfriend got the Moqueca which was really amazing! The shrimp and peach appetizer looked beautiful but was just okay. Overall great service and food. We will be back UPDATE: aug 2019 once again, the Pacu ribs were outstanding, as was the Moqueca. However, my blackened flounder was super dry and the arugula salad was inedible bc of too much dressing. Also, you're out of luck if you try to request any menu modifications. Tried to get just a meat and cheese taco for my son - no go. Tried to get the moqueca without chorizo - again, they couldn't do it. Both times we were told "it's already mixed in" which seems odd for a place that claims dishes are made to order. read more

My bf and I have visited this restaurant every summer for the past 4 years and this is the first time we have left hungry. Oysters was spoiled and smelling, mussels had no flavor and seemed like they dumped a can of Campbell's into a bowl and served it to us. My lobster roll wasn't fresh and the only redeeming part of the meal were the fries, probably because they were fried and drowned in Old Bay. The waitress did comp us the oysters and was super courteous and professional. The kitchen needs an overhaul. I don't care how drunk I get, you couldn't force me to eat this crap. It's disappointing because we specifically go out of our way to come here. So sad to see the quality go to shit. Good luck, and wish you the best. read more

The BEST! I've been coming to Quahogs for years and time and time again it is amazing. I've tried many dishes and each is better than the last. Most recently had the Moqueca stew (flavorful and packed with seafood), ceviche and calamari. In the past we've enjoyed the fish ribs, Branzino, crab cakes and fish tacos. Would recommend anything + everything. Incredible ambience, great cocktails and kind servers. Look forward to visiting as many times as possible each summer. Can't wait to return! read more

If you're coming here because you heard it was on Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives or see the pictures of it's host Guy Fieri outside the restaurant, you may think the cost of dinner is going to fall into that type of category. It does have that look from the outside but at about $90 per couple, with tip, that's certainly not the case! And this is a BYO. 3 of us started out with Oyster shooters and they were great. In some cases, at least at our end of the table, 2 appetizers were shared among 4 of us. These included items such as the BBQ Pacu Pacu Fish Ribs (this was also ordered as an entrée); Seafood Grilled Pizza with calamari, mussels, clams, & shrimp with spicy yellow pepper sauce; and a Lobster Taco. All of these were very good. There were 8 of us, and except for one entrée (the Mahi Mahi which was on the dry side) everything was very enjoyable. Some of these included the whole fried Branzino with a fantastic cucumber-type slaw, and crab cakes, which were slightly on the spicy side but again very good. There's both inside and outdoor seating. The wait-staff are all young and friendly and the atmosphere is "down the shore". We all said we would definitely return again. read more

Visited Stone Harbor this past August and I am a little delinquent in writing my reviews of the restaurants. Truth is, I am almost a decade late in writing this one! Therefore, this review is really a conglomerate of numerous experiences over the years. To sum it all up, I really really would like to give more stars. I should be clear that the three stars could very easily slip to two, but I don't consider Quahog's substandard. However in some areas, I do consider them barely adequate. I have had some decent food here, but nothing that knocks your socks off. The Flat Iron Steak is my favorite. However, I ordered the Moqueca Stew this past August and my clams and mussels were very sandy. I once ordered a fish special (can't recall specifics, I think it was Swordfish) and it was really dry. Some of the small plates are decent, such as the Empanadas. A mixed bag really.... And although I like the whole beach shack vibe, it was excruciatingly hot inside the last time we were there. To make matter worse, I was sitting under a vent that was dripping water on me all night. That can't be healthy. And providing water glasses for wine - is just lame. So there it is - good but not great and lacking in some areas. Not sure if I would run to go back there again to be honest. read more

I've gone to Quahog's for my birthday for the last three years. The food is typically good (despite being terribly overpriced), but the customer service has become increasingly intolerable. The mostly teenage staff are often rude and entitled and there seems to be a team of professional "hoverers" who make it their mission to make you feel as uncomfortable as possible so eat and leave quickly. Family who often frequent Quahog's have shared similar experiences. Sadly, I won't be going back :( read more

I have been wanting to visit Quahog's ever since I saw it on the Food Network with Guy Fieri. The wait was well worth it and the meal was better than I had anticipated! It's hard to find very good cuisine when visiting the Jersey Shore (comparable to what you would find in Philly) but Quahog's sure hit it out of the park! There is a take out portion of the restaurant and then the sit-down, dining portion. I arrived with my family around 6pm on a Sunday and we had to wait about 45 minutes for a table. I didn't mind because I was able to walk around and visit the local shops. We were seated outside and I loved the look. It had very much an eclectic seafood shack feel with ocean and fishing decor lining the walls, string lights above and different styles of tables and chairs paired together. The food... oh the food... We started with a complimentary chick pea appetizer. I wanted to lick the plate, it was that good. We also ordered a half dozen oysters that came with a vinegar dressing. I skipped the dressing and drizzled a dot of lemon juice on my oyster. The oyster was so fresh and tasted like the ocean. I ordered the tuna and watermelon ceviche with a side of coconut rice. My other family members ordered the Lobster Taquitos, Steak with fries (Argentinian style fries and chimichurri sauce) and the Pacu Pacu Fish Ribs (featured on the Food Network). All of our meals were so good that we barely talked as we ate. I noticed that there was dessert on the menu but I was too full. I read that the service can be hit or miss. Our server, Peggy, was very nice and attentive. Once my mother ordered the side of coconut rice Peggy mentioned that it was her favorite thing on the menu, which of course meant that I too had to have a side order of rice! Oh, it's also a BYO! Gave me dive bar vibes, probably a great place to drink with friends. Our "outdoor" table wasn't comfortable at all and felt like we were still inside because of how dark and enclosed their patio is.
