Turns out, it's located in the same plaza as Quan Mii, the spot known for its Banh Xeo, and seems to be their sister restaurant. The vibe is modern, with a fresh, new take on a Vietnamese restaurant ambiance. Unfortunately, the service was a bit lacking. I had to flag down the waitstaff multiple times to place an order or make requests, as they were often just behind the register, heads down on their phones, making it hard to get their attention. I ordered #5 on the menu, which comes with Banh Hoi, crispy pork belly, and veggies. However, I made a mistake and meant to order the Banh Uot tower, so I ended up getting it as a side for $14.95. In hindsight, I probably should've ordered it with the meat for a better value, but oh well--lesson learned. I also added lemongrass chicken as a side to wrap with the Banh Uot and got the Bot Chien as an appetizer, which is a childhood favorite of mine. We were immediately seated after arriving. The restaurant is medium in size and because we went during Lunar New Year, the holiday's decorations could be seen in various areas. Black and white photos on canvases hang above the booth tables, which are situated near the ordering counter. A large mural is painted on the wall next to the entrance. We had ordered the following: #3- Chicken wings, which are 7 homemade fried chickens served with house sauce. This was delicious and crispy. We were watching all these bloggers ordering Asian style chicken wings, so this got us craving for them! LOL. We've never had Vietnamese style chicken wings before and this was pretty good. We never used the accompanied sauce, but the wings were nice and meaty. #6-Banh Uot Heo Quay, which has 10 rice paper plates topped with minced shrimp and chives, side of crispy. This was delicious and fun. We loved Cheung fun and it was nice to try different culture's versions. This was a lot of fun rolling it by ourselves. Daughter wanted to eat the whole thing and fought us for it. LOL. We all loved the dried shallots, vegetables and accompanied sauce in bowls given to us with this order. #19- Com Bo Luc Lac, which has white rice with cubed shaken tender filet mignon and veggies. Daughter said that this was good but the real star of the night was the Banh Uot Heo Quay. Hubs thought it was pretty good and liked it better that it was less meat and more vegetables. Not sure if this was to keep the cost down but he liked it. I dropped by Quan Nhii for lunch the other weekend, and even though it was pretty busy, I snagged a seat within about 15 minutes. I'm a huge fan of Vietnamese food, so I was stoked to try their bánh ướt, which people say is top-tier. When you walk in, you'll notice everyone has these towers of plates at their tables, each plate holding a thin layer of rice paper (not the spring roll kind). We went with the Bánh Ướt Heo Quay set (Item #1), which comes with roasted pork, veggies, crispy onions, and a dipping sauce. You basically build your own wraps, loading everything up and dunking them in that sauce. Honestly, it was fire--the crispy pork and that sauce are a perfect match. I could probably eat one or two whole orders by myself! We also tried the Bánh Bột Chiên (Item #11), which is crispy rice flour cake with eggs, herbs, and shredded papaya, plus a sweet dipping sauce on the side. Super crispy outside, with a nice chew in the middle. Definitely tasty, but for me, the star of the show was the bánh ướt. If you're into Vietnamese food or want to be give this spot a try. It was surprisingly busy in the strip mall so it was hard to find a parking spot, but the restaurant was not too full so there was no wait to be seated. Service was friendly and the menu is simple, you basically just pick what kind of banh uot you want. There is fried rice and a few other items on the menu too if you don't want banh uot. We ordered crispy pork and lemongrass chicken banh uot, which came with one tower each of ten plates, sauce, and veggies. It was fun rolling the rolls and the food was tasty without being heavy. I actually felt like the portion was good and price okay, under $20 for the banh uot per person. We ordered the basil fries as well, which were good but maybe a bit overpriced. We also ordered a Vietnamese coffee and strawberry raspberry mango lemonade to drink (made fresh to order but a large proportion of crushed ice). Many other places still pack in the noodles even when we ask for less. Banh Uot Chay - What we came for! My interest was piqued after I came across this place on TikTok. We are very familiar with this plaza but have never noticed this place or tried it out. The banh is perfectly thin and not thick. It comes with some veg to roll with your banh uot and then your protein. The protein for the vegetarian is tofu! You can still ask for the savory fish sauce if maybe you chose the tofu because you don't like the other meat options or just weren't feeling it and aren't fully committed to being vegetarian. Important if you eat with non-vegetarians: This was my own mistake maybe because I couldn't hear well in the restaurant or possibly the server who brought our food out but I accidentally dipped into the non-vegetarian fish sauce and ate it. It's not a big deal to me but NOTE that the vegetarian fish sauce will only have chilis in it. If it has chili sauce and green onions then it's not vegetarian :') I thought it was the other way around so they could cover up that it's veggie. We ordered #7 (grilled pork) & #8 (pork meatloaf) for $19/each, #2 (papaya with beef jerky) for $15 & #4 (fried cake w/ egg) for $14 for appetizers, #14 (Special Hue noodle soup w/ rib bone) for $20 plus green Thai tea for $6. The drink is good, the noodle is huge and tasty - the broth is well cooked, the rib bone is very tender and well attached to the bone and great marinated, but peanut butter sauce for dipping sauce, this is new for me - just didn't like it. For the appetizers, we'll make and delish, for the cost - portion is small. Alright, the house speciality, the "wrap it yourself" rice paper..CUTE and reminded me when I was WAY younger and played cooking with my females cousins and we sort of did this in VN...same size, same veggies and just with the pork meatloaf. You got 10 small rice paper plates and the meat plate plus the steamed veggies and you roll it urself and to your liking. But within 6-7 rolls, your meat will runs out. You can order xtra meat plate for $6. All nicely well put together & well presented plus the dipping sauce is great. You will get wet napkin to clean your hands afterward. So essentially banh uot is the rice crepe, and you add the toppings yourself. That's pretty much the primary characteristic between the two. Everything tasted great, service was fantastic, it's just their banh uot set for 2 isn't filling enough IMO. Also it's $50 which is pretty steep just for rice crepes. We ordered two towers and had their crispy pork belly, grilled lemongrass pork, and grilled chicken. It comes with sides of veggies including carrots/radish, bean sprouts, mint leaf, and cucumbers. We also ordered some vermicelli noodles on the side to have in our rolls. My favorite meat was the crispy pork belly! It was so flavorful and tasty in the rolls.
