This has been my go-to restaurant since I was a kid. My parents would take me here a lot since I enjoyed the Banh Beo when I was little but started to grow into the Bun Bo Hue as well so now they're the two things I come here for. The Bun Bo Hue lacks a little flavor however you can add spices on the side to your liking. I also got the Vietnamese coffee which was delicious , a perfect blend! 3.5 stars - flavorful BBH broth, but other dishes need quality control. Dishes are more homestyle in preparation. Bun Bo Hue Dac Biet - so...this place is often on the shortlist of people's "Best BBH in OC" list so we had to try for ourselves. It came with premixed salad to add in, with a lime wedge. I really enjoyed the flavor of the broth; le bf had a personal preference for more spice and more "funk". As for meat, this is where the dish fell short. Tendon was dense and tough rather than soft and chewy. The pork knuckle was good for show and that's about it... the beef shank was ok. Overall, the broth wasn't enough to save the dish. Banh Beo - a fun dish of little steamed rice cakes topped with ground shrimp, pork rinds, and fish sauce. This dish was decent though I felt the rice cakes were a bit doughy and could have had more springiness. They didn't scrape off the little dishes that easily so things got a bit messy. The toppings were generous though only a few of the banh beo had green onion. Duck salad - at $13.50 I was happy with the portion size. The salad was a good amount of poached duck (with bone) on top of shredded green and red cabbage, carrots, herbs, with peanuts and a garlicky fish sauce. I enjoyed the freshness of the salad, but the duck was generally too dry. It It did feel like a more homestyle preparation with the thicker shredded veg, and bone in duck. I would have enjoyed it more if the veggies were more thinly sliced and if they had pre-shredded the duck. Overall, I'm not sure if I would go back... as I've had better of all the dishes we ordered here. But to be clear, the BBH broth really is quite nice. The plaza is big but quite active. I've been coming here for a while now since living in Orange County. The main dishes that I gravitate towards are the banh beo, bun rieu, bun bo hue, and banh canh. The service is quick and fast and I can tell it's very family friendly. My favorites include their BBH, Bun Vit with Salad, Banh Beo/Combination Platter, Bun Thit Nuong (can get without noodles and sub salad for low carb), Bun Hen. :)) do not know what to say with that staff's attitude . I came at morning was not too busy , sitting in almost 10 minutes and no menu for us. I even reminded the staff, but it still took several more minutes before anyone brought us the menus. During that time, they kept walking back and forth and looking at us. I could tell they weren't busy because there were at least five or six employees in the restaurant, and some of them weren't doing anything except walking around. Eventually, a male employee came over with an annoyed expression and literally tossed the menus and the paper-wrapped chopsticks onto our table. I honestly don't understand why anyone would throw a customer's napkins or utensils onto the table like that, especially without even placing them neatly or providing anything to hold them. We walked into your restaurant in a great mood, and I expected your staff to treat us with the same basic courtesy. If they had a problem with us, they could have talked about it after we left instead of showing such an unreasonable attitude to our faces. I don't know what the owner is like, but I sincerely hope your restaurant never earns the reputation of "the staff reflect the owner." It comes with a full plate or fresh veggies and herbs. We also order the banh beo. It is enough for 2 people. It was 11 am and the restaurant was full but we never had to wait for a table. It has lots of window so nice open space. The service is polite and nice. The table turn over quickly between guest and this particular day, our table was still dirty, I had to ask for rewipe. We got to Quan Vy Da an hour and a half before closing, and despite the later hour, there was a solid amount of guests eating inside, with a steady trickle of patrons coming in as we were eating. Quan Vy Da's BBH did not disappoint, and totally satisfied our hot soup/noodle craving on a cool December evening! The pork blood was cooked really well at Quan Vy Da - silky, smooth, and flavored/salted well. I wish they would chop the pork feet smaller, so it'd be easier to eat without hands. Quan Vy Da's menu is straightforward and consists of soup noodles, dry noodles, and rice dishes. They also have specials (đặc biệt) - some of my favorite items like banh bot loc, banh beo, and egg rolls. Next time, I am definitely ordering the Vy Da combo, a sampler of their top sides.
