Probably one of the best hun bo hue spots I've had recently. Flavor and ingredients are authentic, and there is lots of meat in the one regular sized bowl of soup. Service is good, food comes out quick, but sometimes during weekends and height of hours it could have a wait. The biggest downside for this spot is the parking. During weekends the parking is horrible and you're circling the lot for a while until you can get lucky to get a spot. If you're lucky enough to park then the food here is pretty good to enjoy. Ambience is your typical Vietnamese restaurant. There's a good amount of seating available for dining in.
A Vietnamese restaurant that specializes in Hue cuisine. A traditional country style of dishes such as bun rieu, banh bro, canh bun, mi quang and their infamously known noodle soup called Bun Bo Hue. Quan Vy Da used to be the go to spot for BBH. My family has been going to this place for several years but over the years, I feel like this place lost their quality. It's still good and will do the job if you're looking for a that spicy lemongrass flavor but I think the broth became too watered down for me. I got their canh bun is which another rendition of bun rieu but with ong choy vegetables and thicker noodles. The taste and ingredients are very similar to each other. Broth was watered down too, portion size is fine so a it's a 3/5 for me. The one thing about this location I loath the most is that the parking here can be an absolute pain. Especially during lunch rush on the weekends. There's just too many shops in this plaza with limited parking spaces, drivers not knowing how to drive/park AND some of the parking spaces are so compact that you'll have to squeeze yourself out your door. That in itself is something to you'll have to ask yourself, "Is it really worth it to dine here...?"
1. The bun bo hue was comforting, and the broth was delicious! The coffee was not too strong! 2. The spot has chill casual vibes! There is a koi pond inside! 3. The staff was friendly and timely with my order! It was ready in less than 10 mins! 4. There is only indoor seatings! There are a lot of tables! 5. I ordered the large bun bo hue and asked for no pork blood, but they also gave me no brisket or beef slices. I got 6 meatballs and 2 small pork hocks. I've never had bun bo hue with no brisket. Very disappointed! I saw other photos and they do serve it with brisket, so not sure why mine didn't have any. My wife got the banh beo and she liked it. I had some and it was well made with a good amount of shrimp.
My husband saw their bun Bo hue on IG and wanted to check them out. He's not a BBH fan but looking to be one. We came in a Sunday noon and it was pretty busy. We got seated immediately and next to the koi fish pond. My toddler loved it and didn't eat bc he loved looking at the huge koi fish. Good kid feature. We both got a bowl of their BBH special, some banh beo and a shaken beef for my son. Everything was good except the shaken beef which was too sweet and I hate how they added this salad with American salad dressing on it. If they kept that out and used less sugar it's good. The BBH was good, not as deep in flavors as some, but just enough. Beefy flavor, light lemongrass. Plenty of meat and I can tell they do not use MSG (or not a noticeable amount), so that was a plus. Lots of fresh veggies and lots of meat, the pork hock was a plus, the tendon could be cooked longer to get that soft chewy texture. But overall, it satisfied the craving. Service wasn't bad. They were pretty nice. We would come back.
It's located in a busy plaza, so parking can fill out quick. There's plenty of tables that are spaced out. They're known for their Bun Bo Hue, but they have a ton of other soups and dishes on their menu. They provide veggies and shrimp paste to flavor your soup. The Bun Bo Hue was rich and flavorful. They pack it with pork feet, pork blood, brisket, and tendon. They offer regular and large size. The soup tastes really homey and l liked the noodle texture. The service was quick and friendly. I'll definitely be coming back.
Heard this place serves up good Bun Bo Hue so I decided to give them a try. Parking here is a bit difficult since the restaurant is in a very busy shopping center. The restaurant is just your typical Vietnamese restaurant. There's plenty of tables. The nice thing about this place is that they have a cool looking Koi Fish Pond. We ordered the Bun Bo Hue Dac Biet and the Banh Beo Chen. Loved the Banh Beo Chen. Was so good. As for the Bun Bo Hue, it was ok until I added some chili sauce to it. That made it tastes better. I saw they have other dishes that caught my eyes. I will be back one day to try them out.
Theres plenty of space inside and very family restaraunt level service. They give an abundance of toppings/decent portions and the staff is very nice/homely feeling. The menu is simple, casual ambiance, family friendly though probably suited more for groups of 4-6. Non vietnamese speaker friendly. The bun bo hue was okay, a lot cleaner of a broth and less red/tomatoey than I expected. Lots of toppings including mixed cartilage. Good portion. The banh it ram was what was the most memorable for me. It is on the oily deep fried side, but surprisingly bigger what we expected and they were generous with rhe super extra large fatty shrimp. The combination of rice cake and shrimp (shell on) with the fish dipping sauce was delicious. Itd be great with some vegetable wraps Overall, recommending to come here. Still the BEST bun Bo hue in town!! I've tried all placed in OC and nothing compared to the BBH and other Hue dishes here. Service is quick and food is good! Staff is extremely nice and attentive. Most are young and speak English well. The restaurant is relatively old and furnitures need updating but overall it's a great place for good and hearty food!! We always leave feel good and stuffed here!
I've been coming to this place since I was a kid, and it continues to be one of my favorite spots. The service is always amazing. The staff is attentive, friendly, and quick to help. The food quality has also remained consistently great over the years. You can never go wrong with the bun bo hue or banh beo; they're both delicious and have maintained the same great taste for as long as I can remember. The restaurant is clean and has such a nostalgic atmosphere that makes every visit feel special. I would definitely recommend coming here with family and friends. Just be prepared for a wait if you visit during peak hours, especially on Saturdays!
Thank you to my OC friends for showing me this gem! I'm now a fan. It was quite busy on a Sunday morning, but it wasn't hard to flag down assistance. Orders were placed promptly. The bun rieu took some time to come out, but we were too pleased with the banh beo and banh nam to make it a fuss. The texture of those specialties hit the damn spot so good with a side of chili satay or sliced Thai chilis. The Viet coffee was also strong, just the way I like it. Good for smaller groups with a noisy ambiance you would find in any OC Viet joint. Also, love any opportunity to practice my broken Vietnamese. I def recommend!
Delicious BBH & banh bot loc! Our first time here since I heard this is one of the best bun bo hue spots in OC, and I was not disappointed. As soon as we entered, we were greeted (by the owner I believe) and were sat at a clean table. Inside there was a good amount of tables all filled with customers. The BBH had a home cooked meaty taste to the broth and it was very flavorful. The veggies provided were a very generous portion and I loved that they had fresh chili peppers at each table. What a great dinner experience! It was my first time eating here with my husband, and we were able to have our favorite Vietnamese foods after a long day. A well known family restaurant that we learned from IG for its special home-style Bun Bo Hue. I ate my favorite Bun Rieu and it did not disappoint. The service was so warm and welcoming. I love going here to get my bun bo hue fix. Their bun bo hue is always consistent. Only downside is the parking in the plaza. So hard to find parking Bun bo hue dac biet: 10/10 broth is always so flavorful. We stopped by Quan Vy Da and ordered their most popular dish, Bun Bo Hue (Hue spicy beef noodle soup). The spicy beef broth is richer and more flavorful than pho, and it comes with beef, pork hock, and pork blood cubes (which you can choose to leave out). The broth is very deep and full-bodied--almost every table had a bowl. We also tried Banh u ot tom chay. It's a bit like Guangzhou rice rolls, but without any filling. The flavor mainly comes from the sweet and sour sauce, along with dried shrimp and fried scallions on top. Simple, but really tasty. It was a random visit. I was tempted to try when I saw they sell Bun Bo Heo and that appetizer dish here. I'm Vietnamese but not very fluent. I am the type that just knows the dish that I like and order it. Its rare that I would go to a random Vietnamese place without a friends recommendation but glad I decided to eat here. The servers here were great! They try suggesting me how to eat my soup, but I prefer the normal way I grew up eating the Bun Bo Heo. Pricing was normal, compared to many restaurants. The good thing was the food was delicious and I would return again when I am in the area. You pay at the cashier upfront. Giving your table number. They can split your bill, just tell them what you ordered and they can charge you only for that. They accept all major CC. Parking: Now that was an issue. This is my dad favorite Bun Bo hue place. He went here a lot before he passed. My sister then took me here and I agree!It's the best Bun Bo hue place I know. Now I take my mother regularly. The large bowl is $16.25 and it is a lot of food, enough to share with her. We have them hold the pork bone and blood cube so they add more of other meat. It comes with a full plate or fresh veggies and herbs. We also order the banh beo. It is enough for 2 people. It was 11 am and the restaurant was full but we never had to wait for a table. It has lots of window so nice open space. The service is polite and nice. The table turn over quickly between guest and this particular day, our table was still dirty, I had to ask for rewipe. In general they could do a better job wiping down the table and chairs completely for next guest. I would recommend for the good food. read more

OG Hue Restaurant - They've been in OC for years and they truly do stand the test of time in delivering solid food. My favorites include their BBH, Bun Vit with Salad, Banh Beo/Combination Platter, Bun Thit Nuong (can get without noodles and sub salad for low carb), Bun Hen. They do a great job with anything that is noodle. (5/5 stars) Where they are a bit lacking is their rice plates. I've always felt hungry and let down when getting Com Tam anything there. (2.5/5 stars) Would just stick to their mains like their noodle dishes. They do a great job of keeping things moving - I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes. I can't find decent banh beo on the East Coast, so I come here every time I'm in town to satisfy the cravings. I love when banh beo is served in the individual dishes like they are here, you can craft each bite with the perfect amount of nuoc mam right when you're ready to eat it so the rest of the toppings don't get soggy. The combo platter is also a great choice if you have tried any of the Hue specialties before, they're all good! The BBH is also solid, very authentic IMO. It comes with minimal spice, so add some sate/chili oil to your liking - the spiciness enhances the flavors! The service is fast and the food comes out quick. This place was packed with Vietnamese speaking diners so I think it must be pretty authentic. The menu is in Vietnamese & English. I did my homework beforehand, and doing research pays off! Every single dish I ordered was fantastic. 2. Bún Riêu - $13.5 Vermicelli noodle soup with tomato, ground crab, pork blood, and tofu (+$2 for added snails) This crab noodle soup was a pleasant surprise. The broth wasn't as heavy as I expected but still packed with flavor. It came with thin vermicelli noodles, crab paste, tomatoes, pork blood, tofu, and eggs. I also opted to add snails for an extra $2--totally worth it! 17. Bánh Bèo Chến Vỹ Dạ - $13.5 Vy Da's Steamed Rice Cakes with Ground Shrimp This dish came with 12 small plates, each holding a soft, chewy rice cake topped with crispy fried garlic and dried shrimp. The magic happens when you drizzle their house-made fish sauce over it and it's absolutely delicious! (And no funky fish sauce smell, just pure umami goodness!) Plus, it came with a side of crispy fried pork skin. 20. Bánh Ít Ram - $13.5 Fried & Steamed Dumplings with Shrimp & Pork This one was mind-blowing! It's a two-layered delight--the top is a chewy glutinous rice dumpling, while the bottom is a crispy fried base filled with crunchy shrimp and pork. Once you drizzle it with their sauce, it becomes the perfect combo of crispy, chewy, and savory. A must-order! Thai Tea - $4 Surprisingly, this was the best Thai tea I've had at any Thai or Vietnamese restaurants in the area! Perfectly balanced and not too sweet. Bonus: They serve a complimentary plate of fresh greens and I love the authentic touch. There are still so many dishes I want to try here, but I was way too full this time. CB a hidden gem! Located among a strip mall parking is tight. You may need to do a few shark circling laps to find a spot during rush hours. Service was welcoming and kind. Nice interior seating with tropical decor. There's plenty of options on their menu. We were adventurous and tried all new things. Quan Vy Da has been serving central Vietnamese cuisine for over 20 years and there's a good reason for this. They serve reliably amazing and authentic food! We got here at around 5:30pm on a Saturday and there was no wait. They have high chairs and plastic utensils for toddlers. Our food came out pretty quickly. We got the bánh ướt, cơm hến (which is only available Friday-Sunday), bánh beo, and banh canh. Everything was good. Even our toddler ate everything. My personal favorite was the banh beo. Everything was priced very fairly and we will definitely be back. Parking can be a challenge on weekends so keep that in mind! read more

This is the first time I've tried vietnamese food and I wasn't disappointed! the banh beo was my favorite. I also had a tapioca thing that was wrapped in banana leaf and it was good, but I preferred the banh beo. When you first walk in to the restaurant, it smelled like urine but I think it was because of the koi pond. The smell went away after some time. read more

Solid BBH/Vietnamese restaurant in the OC! We got to Quan Vy Da an hour and a half before closing, and despite the later hour, there was a solid amount of guests eating inside, with a steady trickle of patrons coming in as we were eating. We were seated immediately, and food arrived pretty quickly after ordering. Both of us got the BBH dac biet to try. Quan Vy Da's BBH did not disappoint, and totally satisfied our hot soup/noodle craving on a cool December evening! The pork blood was cooked really well at Quan Vy Da - silky, smooth, and flavored/salted well. I wish they would chop the pork feet smaller, so it'd be easier to eat without hands. Quan Vy Da's menu is straightforward and consists of soup noodles, dry noodles, and rice dishes. They also have specials (đặc biệt) - some of my favorite items like banh bot loc, banh beo, and egg rolls. Next time, I am definitely ordering the Vy Da combo, a sampler of their top sides. Drooling thinking about it, haha. Items are competitively priced at Quan Vy Da. I can see why this is the go-to BBH spot for my brother and his GF. I would definitely would come back! But might be a while, though, given there are so many tasty eats in this area ;) Parking: while there are a lot of spots around, it was quite full when we went. Thinking Fridays-Sundays might be tough(er), not just in finding a spot, but fitting your car in the spot as well. Bring your patience and you'll be rewarded! lol. PS. No shrimp paste at the table, maybe you'll have to ask for it if you find your bowl wanting some. There are green Thai chilis on the table, though. I recommend nibbles of the chillies with your BBH if you're a spicyphile like me! read more

Came with a friend at 5:30 pm on a Thursday. We were immediately seated and had great service throughout our meal here. The food is at a great price point and honestly unbeatable. We loved everything that we ordered. The vy da combo was so chewy and delicious and a great way to try a little bit of everything. The duck in my soup was also tender. My friend said the bun bo hue was one of the best she's had around the area. I was pleasantly surprised at the complimentary salad as well. The food came out immediately. This place used to taste really good, my mom used to love this place. Upon coming again, as usual she got the BBH, I decided to get the mi quang. My mi quang was good actually, I enjoyed it. However, my mom was really disappointed with her BBH. She told me to try it and well.. it really lacked in flavor, I couldn't put my finger on but the broth was bland and that's like the best part of bun bo hue! I really wish they kept it like before, I remember the broth being really rich and hearty. The service was okay, they just gave us our food and left us alone the remainder of the meal. This place is a good local restaurant for those who want some comfort Vietnamese food. You won't find pho here, instead some of the more homey soups like bún bò Huế and bánh canh tôm cua along with the standard rice dishes. My crab soup was pretty good, kinda reminded me of egg drop soup with its mild flavor. The noodles were chewy and good. My shrimp balls were also nice and peppery. I didn't fall in love with my dish but could see it being a nice comforting dish. I tried some of the BBH broth from my sister and it was good too. The egg rolls were also good. Everything was good and fast, but I probably would want to try somewhere else before coming back. Also parking lot is pretty tight, it's a popular plaza. read more

this is my current fav restaurant to get Hue cuisine when i'm feeling homesick. PARKING: located in a plaza, so there is a parking lot (can get super congested & tight on weekends) FOOD: bun hen: i was on the hunt for a restaurant that serves bun hen which is my favorite Hue dish - & i really recommend getting it here, but note that they only serve it on weekends. loved the portions, & that they served the noodles & clam broth on the side. i love adding chili peppers & chili oil to my bun hen for that extra kick. banh beo: great portions, shareable for the table. they came hot & freshly steamed, with generous amounts of shrimp on top. banh it ram: i was impressed with how well they make it here. hot, crispy, crunchy bottom, starchy/doughy rice dumpling on top - ultimate texture heaven. bun cha gio: my sister ordered this dish & said it tastes like home, so you can bet it's authentic & delicious. What is the minimum for credit card?
We have a $10 minimum for credit card but accept Venmo and Zelle as alternatives.
Do you guys do to-go orders? like can I come in and place an order for takeout?
We do! We do take out orders as well as delivery within a certain distance. Hope this helps. Thanks!
What's your Thanksgiving week schedule?
Thanksgiving day we close at 5pm, but are open Tuesday - Sunday from 9am - 8pm. We get a high volume of to-go orders during the holidays so expect delays and call ahead for large orders.
