I wasn't expecting much from a Chipotle style chain Mexican place. But I was very pleasantly surprised. I've been here twice now and had a good experience each time. Very clean. Enter through the right door since the line down the counter goes right to left. First time I got tacos on a Tuesday evening. They have a $10 for three tacos deal. Extra for certain meats. The meats were very moist and flavorful. I was stuffed after eating the three tacos. The only complaint I have is that the tortillas fell apart quickly. I ate the tacos almost asap. So if it was delivery I imagine it would have been much mushy. The second time I got the taco salad and the mango drink. The drink was a bit sweet. But the taco shell was very crispy. But the food was very good! The employee was not stingy with the toppings. My partner has ordered burritos the two times we came and he approves. Parking is easy since it's in a very large plaza somewhat close to the movie theater and many other shops. It's a well lit area with lots of people. There's also outdoor seating at Que Onda. If this place was in Hawaii it would be the best Mexican restaurant there, hands down. The quality of food for the price is like unmatched, like I'm not even joking. I got these quesa birria things, they were the same price as birria tacos in hawaii, but like 3x as big fr. First of all, 18 bucks for a Burrito is really expensive. Especially when it's not even a burrito, which is made with a flour tortilla, not a sandwich wrap. Que Onda's burrito version is a bunch of sloppy stuff with some ground meat rolled up in a very thin wrap and held together with aluminum foil. I ate half of it because I was hungry, but I couldn't eat the rest if it because it looked like vomit on my plate after everything just went oozing out. Mushy and flavorless is how I would best describe this thing. I will never go back, because if a Mexican restaurant can't even make a decent burrito, I figure they can't make decent anything. Also the service here was so amazing, the staff there literally let us try the meat before we decided which tacos we wanted to get!! I ended up getting the Carne Asada and the beef tongue, and the sides were literally unlimited!! The rice cheese beans and corn side were all amazingly delicious! I'm a fan of Que Onda. I first discovered this restaurant at Walnut Creek about a year ago. Ever since then I've been a satisfied customer. When I found out that they're opening up in Vallejo, I was super excited. I didn't have to go to Walnut Creek or Vacaville to get my fix. If I happened to be in those areas, I'd take advantage. Now that they're open in my hometown, I can get it anytime. Yesterday, my sis and I ordered three burritos for the family, which cost about $12.59 each. These burritos are massive. I was hungry. A fourth of it already filled me up. I don't mind leftovers, especially from delicious meals. I ordered two carne asada burritos and one carnitas burrito. By the way, these are considered "regular" burritos, but you can pack them with all kinds of toppings without extra cost. I recommend checking out their website for the list of toppings and meats. OMG the meats...they have a great selection: carne asada, carnitas, al pastor, beyond meat, shrimp, pork belly, fish, ground beef, birria, lengua etc. The next day I ate another fourth of my burrito. I added a boiled egg to make it a breakfast burrito. LOL. It's still delicious after heating up in the microwave. The rest of the menu include: quesadillas, dutch crunch torta, mula, tostadas, tacos, tortilla soup, ceviche, and rice bowls. Specialities: TACOS DE COSTRA, TORTILLA-LESS TACO, CHILAKOS, ENCHILADAS, PAPA LOCA and QUESABIRRIA. If you're curious about these dishes, check out their website. It's refreshing and it's a good balance between pineapple's tangy profile and cucumber. Other drinks include horchata, jamaica and mango. I tried horchata. It was tasty too, but a little sweet for me, but you can always add a little water or extra ice. Another recommendation is their California burritos. I wrote reviews on this for their Walnut Creek store. If it's your first time, I recommend trying the California burritos. If y'all don't know, CA burritos have fries in it. Their customer service is great. Yesterday, the person making our burrito was fast, and the person ringing us was doing it with a smile. The Vallejo selection has Taco Tuesday deal: 3 tacos for $10. This is a late review but I have been here twice since it's opened and I love it so far. Hubby and I are slowly making our way through the menu. First visit we got the Quesabirria came with chips to share, I got the shrimp tortilla less taco and Al pastor taco, he got the Carne asada TACOS DE COSTRA and it all came to $35. They walk you through the condiment bar to dress your orders and wow everything looks good and fresh. The guys behind the counter are so sweet and helpful guiding us along and making recommendations on what we should put where and very generously portioned. The orders come with a lot a food! Basically we both loved everything we got. I ended up having to take my al pastor taco home. It heated up nicely the next day and kept me full! The second visit was probably a week later and I got the ground beef enchiladas, hubby got the mula and beer battered fish taco, the. We ordered a Flautas plate to share that came with rice and beans. Everything was just as good. The flautas for us was just ok but again you cannot go wrong with anything I mentioned here so far. This place is such a hit or miss. I usually order online for pick up. The flavors are great and the people are super nice but the service is very inconsistent. I ordered a burrito before and it was awesome. More recently, I ordered exactly the same item and it was mostly rice (I could barely see or taste other ingredients), so it was dry and disappointing. Wanted to try a new spot for my birthday, and this spot looked as if the ingredients were fresh and well seasoned. I ordered shrimp tacos and churros. Let's get the not-so-great part out of the way - the shrimp tacos. While the corn tortilla was soft, thick and the veggie toppings were fresh, the shrimp was a letdown. It was chewy and tasted as though it had been frozen for too long. There was minimum effort with seasoning, as if they had been boiled in a salt water the shrimp's texture was hard to overlook. Now the churros, beautifully presented. Crispy on the outside, soft and airy on the inside, with a generous dusting of cinnamon sugar. They were served with a rich chocolate dipping sauce that had just the right balance of sweetness. 3stars is an over all. I used this place to cater a graduation party. Raul was great and patient with me while I was ordering, but I think there was a communication issue because I didn't get a lot of the things that were promised and because of that I was definitely over charged. Waited almost 30 minutes for the food past promised pick up time so I was rushing and didn't get to double check my order and make sure things were correct, so some things were a huge surprise when I was setting the food up at the party. They stuffed trays into a box so juiced leaked all over my car seat and everywhere when carrying the box in. Due to the over promise under deliver, the set up wasn't nice. I piled on the meat for the biggest burrito I could get! This place has many locations. I've been to the Vacaville one because it close to my house. This was the first time to the Vallejo location. This one is my favorite! I asked to split the meat. Half Carne Asada and half Chicharrón in a wet burrito. My GOD was it packed! I was very impressed with it. The chicharron was fresh from the back. I had to wait for it, but soooooo worth it! People this place is the best to get Mexican food if you are in a rush! No matter what location you go to. Fresh ingredients and fresh made tortillas. I was pretty surprised with Que Onda Tacobar. I've seen them in the Concord area but never really stopped by. Thankfully there is one in Vallejo now so it's super accessible. Having never been here before I went onto their website to see their menu. They sell a variety of things, from Mulitas (that they call Mula...which can be an insult to some) taco, nachos, and even plátano fritos. What's also super impressive is their meat selection. It's not often you come across a taco spot in this area with so many options. I'm not seeing it on their online menu but when I came by I made a mobile order for their 12 taco combo deal. Basically two types of meat, rice, beans, veggie toppings and on the side we ordered a mulita, quesabirria taco, and their Jamaica passion fruit agua fresca. The total was not unreasonable but is up there. But other than that, everything was delicious! The carne asada during this visit was seasoned well and my bf really liked the chicken. I could do without it since it was a bit bland. The rice and beans were pretty standard. Hard to say if they do them in house or come already premade to reheat. My favorite was the quesabirria. I'm a sucker for those! However, they did not follow the instructions on my quesabirria. Since I absolutely dislike raw onion I requested none but still got them. But despite that it was super flavorful. My only complaint is the pick up time. I originally made my order for pick up around 3:15pm. Only to get another email saying my order would be ready by 4pm. By the time I got there to pick up my order (around 3:50pm) it was already packaged up and off to the side ready. It was cold and when I began to drink my agua it was also already super condensed on the outside so that's when I knew my order was ready wayyy before 4pm. OH and another big error was NO SALSA. How could they forget the most important part :(. I was so sad, we eventually started using the salsa for the chips we got but it wasn't the same. Stumbled into this gem....used to be a Rubios and now a cool Taco bar. Always wanted to go, first time here. First of, it had a semi Chipotle feel in a way that you make your order, (i.e. burrito? Taco? / meat? Beyond meat? / fixings? Etc...) but that's where it ends. It actualy goes about (as my friend Ed wld say...level up!!) 3 levels higher in choices and more combo flavors. I had the nachos w Carnitas and my nephew had the waffle fries and carne asada. Bomb!! Also we tried the platanos (sweet banana w sweet cream, churros w chocolate sauce) Delicioso! Also, had Aqua frescas...I had the cucumber and ??? Fresca (sorry forgot) and my nephew had the Horchata. Excellent !! They also offer free strawberry/cucumber water, which was quite refreshing by itself. Pricing was reasonable, people were friendly and the place offers indoor and outdoor seating. I really liked this place. It's nothing to write home about. I don't know what every one is going on about in these reviews. I had the nachos here and it was whack. It's pretty hard to mess up nachos. The meat was flavorless and even though it was carne asada it felt more like a ground beef and the nachos overall were sweet. The spicy salsa was weak like it was the Lacroix of salsa. So Rubio's gone and Que Onda hits a good spot for your taco fix. I like that they operate like a chipotle counter with way more selections of meat and sides. You get to add all of the sides to your tacos if you want including rice, beans, corn and salsa. Fresh tortillas are made to order. Ceviche is good, Al pastor and pollo meats tastes great.
