Only decent bar in town but the service is always horrible. I haven't been to this bar one time wear my dinner or drinks were correct or good. Its convenience is what makes it nice and large tequila selection. It would be nice if the staff was a little more educated on tequila. Be careful if you order tacos on taco Tuesday for takeout. Apparently it doesn't apply to takeout orders. When I got there, I ordered 6 tacos without any sides to go. The hostess fumbled around with the menu and looked like she was going to say something but didn't. They made the tacos and then asked me to pay at the end, then the bill was $30. I was so confused and asked why the taco Tuesday discount wasn't on there and she said "it doesn't count for takeout orders. They are $5 each." Extremely disappointed they didn't say that from the beginning. I opened the bag and the tacos looked like the really thin Jack in the box tacos that you get for $1. I can't believe I spent that much money on that crappy food. Que Pasa needs to warn their guest or have some signage that deals don't apply to take-out orders. read more

Went on sunday for lunch. Were seated promptly but not by the manager who sat behind the hostess desk but had to wait for the hostess to seat the people ahead of us. Chips and salsa were good. Ordered and waited 30 minutes for our food. Two of four plates were cold and had been sitting under Warmers for too long. Food is mediocre especially when it is not served quick. Manager said he would tell the cook. Too bad. They have the ambiance that all a-town mexican restaurants lack. The service and the food are not worth the expense. read more

Food was disappointing, barely above the quality of Taco Bell. For example, I ordered a ToPopo salad, and it was messy, a few lettuce leaves smothered in nasty canned sauce. I'm used to real Sonoran style Mexican, and this was not it. Service was horrible. Edgar, a bus boy or waitstaff, was too busy watching the football game to notice that we didn't have water, chips nor utensils. It took 20 minutes after we were seated for someone to notice that we hadn't been waited upon. Most tables were empty or finishing up, so busyness was no excuse. Kitchen staff would randomly wander out and wander back into the kitchen and overall it didn't seem like anyone knew what the hell was going on. Save your money and don't go here. read more

Will never give this place another chance. Came in awhile ago and had horrible customer service from the host, waitress and manager! The food wasn't even good. They ordered my boyfriend the wrong margarita. When he asked about the happy hour margaritas (like the sign said outside) the waitress said they don't have a happy hour.. Wtf.. And when we talked to the manager she didn't even care and bother to do anything or fix the error they made on our check and just gave us a card for a free appetizer AS IF WE'D BE BACK! lol no. I'm super bummed!!! I've been going to Que Pasa in Atown since pretty much the day they opened! We LOVE the food especially since selection in No. County isn't great....well, the service has been terrible!!! Worse & worse every time I go lately! I always recommended and now I can't! I went tonight and it was the worst ever and it wasn't busy!!!! The manager spent so much time in the back I couldn't even speak with her! What makes me the most mad is now with 2 kids getting out doesn't happen much then to get crappy service!!! Step it up already, you can't just count on good food!!! Ok so I took a huge gamble on this place considering the horrible Yelp reviews. I went with my Mom around 3:30 pm, and it was really empty in there. I think this may be the key, because we had a really good experience. Our waitress was really nice and our food was very good. My experience was on the bar side. My Mom took me here for my birthday. We did the Happy Hour and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of service we received. I'm guessing that the bad reviews are from the restaurant side? The Super Nachos were AWESOME and was a meal in itself! 3 Margaritas later and we were ready for the movie! I'm surprised to see the amount of 2 star ratings here. My husband and I go to Que Pasa mostly for lunch. The chips and salsa are great. The pomegranate margs are also yummy! I agree with many that the service could be a bit faster. Some of the wait staff do seem under-trained. But all in all (and seriously...compared to what else is offered in Atascadero?!?!)--it's pretty good. I really like the shrimp soft tacos on the lunch special menu. And happy hour...can you say $5 nachos (they're so HUGE that you have to split them 4 ways)! I think the food tastes good. Super hot and seasoned well. The restaurant itself is decorated well. I've dined here more than 10x. And the manager has strolled by the table at least 4 of those 10 times to see how things were. If you haven't tried it, go. I really do like Que Pasa. read more

We gave this new place a try for dinner on a Thursday night. The hostess took the couple ahead of us to their table then seemed to disappear in the back for 5 or 10 minutes. We ended up sitting in a cozy (teeny tiny) table near an exit. Not a bad table until folks started using it as an entrance. I considered pointing out to the third couple that came in the door, "yup, the entrance is over there. " since they all seemed to want to stop next to our table and do a little scratch and sniff while they got the lay of the land. We got our drinks in about 10 minutes and then dinner started showing up about 30 minutes after that. My dinner came out and when we gave the server a funny look he realized that my wife's meal was still MIA. Ten minutes later her dinner shows up. When the server came by again (20 minutes later) we were nearly done but I still asked about my handmade tortillas that were also MIA. I got to try one with last two bites of dinner. In their defense there seemed to only be two servers for 20+ tables. The food was OK. Beans and rice were mediocre but the chili Verde was tasty but a skimpy serving. Margaritas were too sweet. I may go back in a few months to see if they can get it together. read more

We've been here twice, once the first week it was open and the second time was last weekend. Except for the homemade corn tortillas the food is just average. Both time we were there the service was terrible. The first time the place was new so we thought we'd give them another try, they haven't improved. We won't be back. We went to Que Pasa for the first time for dinner on a Friday night . The atmosphere was great, but unfortunately the food and service were not. The restaurant was very busy so we were seated at a tiny table in the far back corner right beside the exit. The chips before dinner were ok, but the salsa was not very flavorful and was not spicy at all. After we ordered we had to wait for at least 30 minutes before our food came. I ordered the steak fajita burrito and my husband had the fish tacos. The quantity of food was decent, but the sauce on the burrito tasted like spaghetti sauce, and not a good one at that. My husband said that the only flavor the fish tacos had was salt, and they didn't come with limes. It really doesn't seem like they know anything about Mexican food. When we were finished we asked for the check, and that took another 10 minutes to get. All in all, we were really disappointed in Que Pasa and we will not be back. read more

We had a great experience at Que Pasa. Our server was really quick, attentive & accommodating. The food was excellent, as well as the drinks. We ordered guacamole to start. They make it to order table side. I ordered a side order of rice & beans, homemade corn tortillas with mole sauce. My husband had the Steak Asada with a cheese enchilada. We both loved our dinners. I have been to Que Pasa twice. It was a "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." situation. Both times I have gone, my friend and I were placed in the back of the restaurant and forgotten for 20 minutes before being greeted by anyone, and the restaurant was not packed. It took another 15 minutes to get the iced tea and soda delivered. We ordered at that time and it took another 30 minutes to get our food. By that time, we had filled up on chips and salsa since it had been over an hour since we arrived. We asked for boxes, which took another 10 minutes to get. I won't go back. read more

Place is really busy, probably due to location near movie theater, and the food is fairly good. I ordered a mojito with dinner, and it was overly lemon & soda tasting. Our table had to ask for water 3 times to finally get it. We saw another table (that was seated after us) receive their drinks 10 min. before we did. The bus boy was way more attentive than the waitresses. I also asked for additional napkins when dinner arrived, but they never came. The good: First off, great chips and salsa. Second, nothing else. The only reason why I gave this place two stars is because of the chips and salsa. Bad: Shortly upon arriving at this place I felt like we had come at amateur hour. Went for lunch (Saturday) at about 2, and it wasn't busy-- just thought I'd mentioned that right away to counter another reviewers argument of them simply being "swamped upon opening." I also noticed one other table near us with customers whom had already gone through the same bad experience we were about to go through. The purpose our waitress served was to basically take our order and bring us our food. She never monitored to see if we wanted more chips, salsa, water, iced-tea, or basically anything else; we had to flag down and ask for these basic tasks to be taken care of. By the time our food reached us (which wasn't much of a complaint), we had to wait a couple minutes for place settings to begin eating, and I had to wait an additional couple minutes for my tortillas to be brought out to me to begin eating my fajitas. Pretty well right away, before I was even able to begin eating my own food, my mother complained of poor taste. I took this with a grain of salt, because my mom is known to be overly judgmental about the food she gets-- sometimes it is warranted, and this was one of those times. A 1/4 of the way through the meal my mom was eating, she received a pretty thick black hair hiding in her rice, which was the ending point of my mother's meal-- to say the least. For me, my beans tasted like slop on my plate, rice was o.k. and my fajitas were o.k., but I feel they were overpriced for the quality. My mom flagged someone down (who we thought was the manager, but maybe wasn't) and pointed our the hair in her food. From that point, they took the minimal steps of apologizing, taking it off the bill, and asking her if she wanted anything else, but I have yet to ever see anyone want anything else from a place where they just found human hair in their food. In my eyes they could of tried to recover more from the incident by offering to take care of a percentage of the bill or something of that nature, but none of that was offered. With my mom sitting there with nothing in front of her to eat, her husband and I flagged down our waitress to get our check, and we both proceeded to scarf down our food so we could just get out of the place. read more

We lived in South County for 28 years and went to Que Pasa with current North County friends. In short, this may be the best Mexican restaurant in the whole county. While we had a small issue with relatively slow service from the bar for our margaritas, the remainder of the service was truly excellent. The other posts regarding poor service simply must have been due to the restaurant being new and swamped upon opening. Now, after being here for a bit more than two weeks, the service issues are obviously ironed out. Our service was excellent at a time when every table in both the restaurant and bar was full. The food was superb. One member of our party ordered a three-item combo, which included what he described as "the best chili relleno I have ever eaten." Another member of the party had the Zopes Mexicanas (two steak and one carnitas) which were delicious. The mini corn tortillas upon which they were built were crispy and the meats were delicious. The other two had Sizzling Steak Enchiladas served on a sizzling iron skillet (as one would expect of fajitas). The enchiladas were as described on the menu, mild but zesty. The steak was tender and well seasoned. The rice, beans, sour cream, and guacamole accompanying the enchiladas was served on a separate dinner plate. Rice was pretty much the typical mexican restaurant Spanish rice, the beans were excellent and topped with Cotija cheese. The guacamole was very good. The margaritas from the bar, though late in arriving, were excellent, and they didn't skimp on the tequila. Overall, it is refreshing to see a Mexican restaurant that serves other than the standard fare, and one where the quality of the food and the service is truly first rate. Finally, it's also an excellent value - four dinners which totally filled us, four margaritas, a glass of tea, and a side salad for less than $80. Excellent value, indeed. read more

My husband and I have been to Que Pasa four times since they opened in Atascadero. We have finally found a Mexican food restaurant in Atascadero that we look forward to returning to. We have always had prompt service, the food is consistantly good and portions are the perfect size. Their chips, salsa and fresh guacamole are hard to resist! The selection of tequila and mixed drinks are worth a taste as well....one per visit with a meal! We are looking forward to our next visit. read more

I even saw the manager taking part in the gossip.. Clearly complaining wasn't going anywhere fast. Tried this new place last night. Service was horrible during Happy Hour with only four other people in the bar. Ordered a Pacifico beer and my wife ordered a margarita on the rocks. Waiter brought the wrong beer and forgot my wife's drink. Had to remind him. He eventually returned with the correct beer and a blended margarita not one on the rocks. Food eventually arrived. My plate was ice cold with cold rice, cold beans and my carnitas tacos were cold. My wife's plate was smoking hot and the food was hot. Could not eat my dinner. Complained to the manager and he said he would fix it. Nothing happened. Another waiter came over and I explained the problem and he checked that my food was cold and my wife's was hot. Again nothing happened. We gave up paid the bill and left - NEVER to return. Avoid this place. They do not have their act together on the floor or in the kitchen. read more
