Friendly host and I was seated quickly. She was attentive and professional. The same lady was the host, waitress and also took care of cleaning up afterwards. She was bilingual and seemed to have experience because she made it look easy. The environment was a bit dark but welcoming. There was Spanish music playing in the background yay! I was brought chips and salsa. The chips seem to be from a bag, definitely not freshly made which was disappointing. The salsa was tasty in my opinion. I ordered a chile verde enchilada with rice and beans. I ordered from the lunch special menu which was placed on top of the regular menu as I sat down. There is a time restriction on that special and the cost is $11.50 plus tax. Some of the options do not include rice and beans but you can add it for a fee of $2.50. I couldn't wait to dig in! The food presentation was great and the food was HOT just like I like it. The meal was tasty, the pork was good and the green sauce was spicy and just right for me. The rice and beans were as they should be. I LOVE BEANS so I'm pretty picky. Nothing will ever compare to my mom & my grandma's beans, but these were good. Located in South Atascadero, on El Camino, is Pedro's. This Mom and Pap resturante is solid. Large resturante, with many seating options. The service is always good. Chips first came out lukewarm, but the second basket was hot and awesome. The salsa is slightly spicy, but to some maybe spicier, with great flavor. I ordered the burrito ranchero, moist, shredded chicken, with fluffy rice, fluffy battered Chile relleno inside. Very good. Pedro's was named in the Best of the Best of the Central Coast so my husband and I had to check it out! We loved the atmosphere and decorations throughout the restaurant. Voted "Best of Mexican" in the recent "Best of" in Paso Robles magazine. Well, batter up Pedro! In a downtrodden mini-mall, it doesn't look like much. Once inside, it's decorated Mexican-themed in a 20-something table restaurant. Menu has all the usual suspects. I ordered one of my favs, Beef Enchiladas with rice and beans [$18.99], which comes with a salad or albondigas soup (I choose the salad, mama would be proud). Chips and Salsa were brought quickly to my table. Unfortunately, some of the worst I've ever had. Chips tasted like inexpensive store-bought and varied from cold to lukewarm, and the salsa from a jar/can -- but not good a good kind. On to the meal. Ugh. I am so disappointed. I love Chile rellenos and that's what I got, but it has no flavor at all And neither does the rice or beans, either. And I asked them if I could buy a side of chips and salsa, and what they gave me was a really gross salsa. The whole experience is disgusting and is probably going in the garbage. Two for the food--none for the price and transparency. We hoped this could be a new go to place. Plenty of atascaderans seem to love it. The mini burrito was fine, with a chili verde that was perfectly spiced! The veggie burrito worked well too. The problem is the chimichanga. The waitress asked what kind of meat, because a 14 dollar chimi had better have good fillings, right? My son said carnitas. The bill came and there was a surprise $3 upgrade fee. To be clear, that makes this a 17 dollar chimichanga. Chimi what?!!! They should be clear about prices and then once they are clear, they should lower them! read more

Great experience with the sister. Came here hoping they had seating and amazingly they did! All inside nice and warm and spaced out from covid. Food was excellent and staff passed by periodically to ask if we needed anything. When we first sat down to answer if they clean the area....yes they do. This place reminds me of a retro restaurant of my past. It is a hidden gem that is popular by the business they generate, but one of those places that is more of a word of moth type of place. My boss took me here the first time & I loved it & still do! I have come here a few times & the food & service has always been consistently good. We brought my 88 year old father in law for his birthday & they put a sombrero hat on his head & sang happy birthday & gave him a chocolate sundae with a candle! Howdy folks. How's everyone on Planet Yelp doing? Hopefully everyone is having a groovey evening, or maybe morning or afternoon depending on when you are reading this. Right now I'm going to be taking ya all to Atascadero where I am going to review a local Mexican restaurant there. So strap on your sear belts and put on your helmets for we're about to blast off. So after spending the day conducting First Amendment Audits with my good friend, and fellow activist, Anthony X, we decided that we were both hungry and needed to grind. Despite having lived on the Central Coast for a number of years, I must admit that I'm not too familiar with the restaurant scene in Atascadero. So when my friend asked if I knew of a good place to eat, I honestly couldn't really think of one. Finally after driving around for a bit we came across a place called Perdo's. Now you can't go wrong with Mexican food on the Central Coast. Or so I thought. Boy was I wrong. We walk in and were seated pretty quickly. That's a good sign. But the booth we were seated at was so tiny that I couldn't comfortably fit into it. I realize that I am no slim chicken. But this booth was ridiculously small. I tried to reposition it. But then I'd be squishing Anthony X. I thought of asking our waitress if we could be moved to a table. But here's the problem. Our waitress was nowhere to be found. Finally our waitress shows up. By this point I had learned to deal with the booth. She asks us what we'd like to drink. Now I noticed on the menu there was something called the Las Cabos Margarita and I decide to go with that. For anyone who knows me well enough will know that I am a big lover of margaritas. But the waitress was quick to tell me it's not available anymore. Something about the owners not being able to renew their liquor license. Ok fine. But why is the thing still on the menu if it's not available anymore? I ended up going with a wine margarita. Big mistake. This thing was pretty crappy. I might as well of been drinking prison made pruno. This thing was terrible. I guess there is a reason why margaritas are mixed with tequila and not wine. Now lets get into the food. So I ask our waitress if the burritos are big. She said they were and so I decide to go with the carne asada burrito. I tell the waitress that I want my burrito with no vegetables. She rudely replies that the menu lists whats on it and I need to tell her what I don't want. Well, that's why I told her no veggies. Is she a vegetarian and was offended that I wanted my burrito served with no veggies? She was being very curt with me and I didn't appreciate that at all. So the burrito arrives and right away I was disappointed. This thing was not big at all. It definitely wasn't the Macho Burrito at Casa Manana. But worse than that was the way it tasted. It was bland and absolutely tasteless. I'm not trying to sound like Gordon Ramsay. But this thing had no flavor at all. I might as well of been eating paper. Very disappointing. I'd hate to imagine what the enchiladas taste like. Oh dear. Now after all was said and done my friend and I were ready to get the Hell out of there. But we couldn't because the waitress wouldn't bring us the check. She had just vanished after bringing us our food. She never came back to check on us. Never once asked if everything was ok or if she could get us anything else. Her attitude was like "here you go" and then she just split. My friend ended up having to track her down so we could get the check. Jeez. I am going to wrap this review up by saying that if you want to enjoy some delicious Mexican food in a booth that you can fit into, I wouldn't go to Pedro's. Instead I'd drive about 45 minutes south and go to Casa Manana in Santa Maria. So that's my review of Pedro's in Atascadero. Until next time may the margaritas be made with tequila and not wine. Party of four got seated on a Wednesday night in a couple min. The place has that neighborhood Mexican place vibe with lots of locals having their favorite plus some new folks trying a recommendation. We had fajitas, enchiladas, chimichanga and tostada with salads and a soup. It all came out quick, hot and delicious! Waitress was very attentive and quick on the drinks, water and check when it was time to go. I like places that know what they do best and do it with a smile. It's not fancy but it's a honest and tasty local Mexican meal experience. We had leftovers and they were good the next day. And my son's gf said the horchata was the best she'd ever had.
