Chicken Torta: ONE OF THE MOST DELICIOUS SANDWICHES I'VE HAD IN A VERY LONG TIME! I would say most delicious torta, but I've only had one other one, so I can't really say.. Uhm.. Yeah.. The first thing I noticed was the size of the torta and the price. I love a place where you can go to and get your money's worth. Two thumbs up up up! So anyway, the chicken torta. MMMMMM THE BREAD. I love bread (you can tell by my little belly - lots of yummy empty carbs went into the formation of that soft, hefty lump). The bread has a good crunch and a delicious taste that really builds the foundation of this appetizing sandwich. The veggies are always fresh and I really enjoy how they include avocado in every sandwich. I order mine with extra jalapenos. I like to keep things spicy ;) So so good. The chicken patty, or whatever you wanna call that thing, has me skeptical for like a SECOND, but oh man.. Once you bite into it and take in all the flavors, you won't think twice about it. I read the reviews before I went, and the majority recommended calling ahead due to the unfavorable wait. I arrived right as my order became ready (15 min). There was no line so I grabbed a bag of jalapeño chips at the counter, paid and was well on my way to savoring my my delicious foot long Torta. I had the Que Torta with all the trimmings. The flavor was fab, had the right amount of jalapeño (yes more jalapeño), great portion of meat and veggies, and it was toasted to perfection! I will say go with a half unless you are sharing....or eating for two ;) As for service it was marginal, ample space for dinning in, atmosphere was drab, location is in a big shopping center with plenty of parking. So I decided to try a New lunch place (new to me) and I looked up this place. I liked the reviews I saw so I thought I would give t a try. First off there is plenty of parking here so not to worry there. Secondly when you walk in you are greeted with a clean and vibrant atmosphere with a few small tables for small parties or groups. There are like two small tables outdoors so if you are lucky you can get them. I ordered their combination Tortas which is basically a pork and ham sandwich with mayo lettuce tomato avacado jalapeños cheese onion and chipotle sauce. The staff did give me a military discount which i got the impression is not the norm here so I was happy with that. It did take a while to get my food out but the wait was well worth it. The bread does it all for these tortas. The bread is the bulk of the sandwich but it's toasted to a crunch and fresh. Absolutely love this place. I love getting my turkey torta with extra cheese because their cheese is delicious . Their acia bowls have set the bar way to high for other places to even compete. Their the perfect texture and their fruit is always sweet never bitter. Which brings me to their fruit salads TO DIE FOR. I ask for the toppings on the side and then get an extra plate to put all my toppings because then I can get a spoonful full of toppings and throw a couple fruits in my mouth and it becomes the perfect balance. Last but not least their customer service is always top notch and they always start conversation with everyone which is so awesome that they care about their customers. This is my go-to spot when I'm craving memories from elementary school (only Mexicans who went to elementary in the 80's will get this). Anyway, I usually get the same thing and soon find out consistency. This place is not mediocre but not amazing; somewhere in between. My favorites are pierna (shredded pork in a spicy sauce) and pavo (turkey breast). Crispy bun and tasty meat with a very spicy pickled jalapeño. Don't overdo the spicy jalapeño; trust me. They have a good selection of fruits but never had a fruit salad; not my thing. Customer service is friendly, but again, they're not there to make lifelong friends. Cons: it can get busy. Though you won't spend more than 20 min to get your order. For those newbies, look hard for this place as it can get lost in between the boost mobile and the Panda Express. The bread is always the perfect level of crunchy. There's always a perfect amount of jalapeños, not too many not too few. The ham and cheese combination are a perfect team. I knew it was going to be expensive because I ordered 3 tortas 3 smoothies 1 fruit salad and one pico de gallo. Their chicken torta was disgusting, their chicken was like frozen chicken you get that's already been cooked. Their other tortas were average idk they weren't mine. The smoothies were too sweet, the fruit salad and the pico de gallos fruit was okay. If I really wanted to then I would probably just get that, but most likely won't order from here again. Very fresh ingredients and customer service is top notch. However, you need to be able to have a little working knowledge of Spanish because the cashiers put in orders to the preparers in Spanish. My son ordered a strawberry-banana smoothie with milk, but the cashier told the food preparer "strawberry-banana smoothie con naranja"; so I had to step in and say "con leche, por favor". The customers are mainly Hispanics, which is a shame because they sell good food. There is no demarcation between the ordering line and the pick up line; so those who need to get out after picking up the order need to muscle their way through "ordering" people who simply won't get out of the way, even though how many times you say "excuse me". Quick fix: put those lane makers they use at Starbucks an/or the concession stands at the movies. I'd love to keep coming back here, if not for the sometimes rude customers. read more

This is a little hidden-gem that I found on recommendation of my employees right across the street from where I work. My favorite thing to get here are there green juice drinks (think nektar type) and fruit bowls with cottage cheese and honey (heaven!), but they also have some great sandwiches I'm just personally not much of a sandwich person. But when I got the sandwich, it was a GIANT torta. We are talking about 9 inches of torta (that's what she said). Dare I say, too much torta? Regardless, it was filled to the gills with good stuff. Finally something good I can rave about that has come out of Escondido. It's so nice to find such a friendly, delicious, super clean place right in my own neighborhood. With that said, the owners would make a killing if this place was in SD. The tortas are huuuge. I always bring a friend, we share and yet still leave full and satisfied. I get the usually get the Lomo, which comes on a warm and toasty roll, with cool crispy condiments & oh so spicyly avacadowy...mmm. It's very different from the tortas I've had in mexico, but what mexican food in the states isn't? Agua Frescas are amazingly refreshing, basically tastes like drinking a strawberry. The sandwiches are huge. big portions. I like the crab sandwich. i usually get everything on it which includes lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, onions, and jalapenos. i haven't tried all the smoothies yet. i am a mango girl so i usually get that. they offer it with juices or milk but they recommend getting it with juice so just do that. everyone i know that has been here really likes the sandwiches as well. soo good. i love it and i hope you love it too! read more

Attention VEGETARIANS! *I don't think this place respects people who choose not to eat meat* Last time I reviewed I was still eating meat so this is an updated review. I've been coming back here to grab a quick lunch since I work close by & I realized they have a vegetarian option (torta with panela cheese) This review is based solely on my experience, not the food. Their food is amazing, delicious and fresh but i'm still complaining on pricing. $7.85 for half a torta with some fruit on the side....not affordable at all, especially if you want to eat here often. So that's a huge downside. Back to my rant: I called in my order (since they always take forever) and got half a panela cheese torta/half fruit & ordered a turkey torta/fruit for my fiance. When I opened my torta I noticed there was turkey in it and I assumed they got my order wrong. I took it back and told them it was wrong and that I was a vegetarian specifically and I didn't want meat in my sandwich. They called me back up there like a minute later and told me that it was correct they just left a little bit of turkey from the other half that I guess was for my fiance. This was so unprofessional in my opinion. If I specifically told them I was a vegetarian I don't understand what level of customer service it takes to give me back a sandwich that contains meat.
