Our server, Christopher, was very attentive, suggested wine pairings, and gave us great recommendations. We started with the charbroiled oysters which is a must. They were large and charred to perfection on the outside grill, topped with parm and breadcrumbs. My friends ordered the filet and the gulf fish, and I had the charred cabbage entree, with a French gerwurztraminer blend. The mushrooms with the blue cheese sauce were so rich and delicious! Sweet treats were a no brainer. The blue cheese flan was creamy and decadent. A perfect ending to the meal. This is so far my fave restaurant in New Orleans. It's an honest, no BS creole inspired cuisine. 100% coming back soon!

And yet again, I am so thankful for Yelp steering me in the right direction yet again! A short Uber from the French Quarter brought us to what I believe is such a special hidden gem! The moment you step into Atchafalaya, you realize it. Ambience is amazing, quirky, cool, homey and cozy. Staff is amazing. We sat in our own private room and were treated to a very special delight of a dinner. I tried the incredible fried green tomatoes, the seafood soup (?) and the incredible steak...wow, everything was amazing. And not only did Chef Christopher Lynch come out to say hello to my Autistic son but the owner Tony Tocco did as well and it made his day! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

When visiting New Orleans, we stumbled across The Rum House and got curious. With a name like that,…read moreI figured they had to know rum, so we decided to give it a try. Luckily, we arrived during happy hour. We started with the tuna ceviche, which was half off. At only $8, it was an incredible value. The fish tasted very fresh, clean, and was beautifully presented. My only complaint was that it needed a little more lime and salt to really make the flavors pop. I'd absolutely order it again at happy hour, but at full price I'd hope for a little more seasoning. For drinks, we tried several. The Rum Punch didn't disappoint. It reminded me of a Hurricane but without the heavy grenadine flavor, which I personally prefer. Next was a creamy white rum cocktail with a pineapple garnish (I can't remember the name). It was surprisingly strong, which I loved since rum is usually a softer spirit. It was just a little sweeter than my taste, so I probably wouldn't order it again. The star of the night was the Piña Colada. It was honestly one of the best I've ever had. It wasn't overly sweet, had an incredibly smooth, creamy texture, and was topped with whipped cream and a rum floater that was absolutely perfect. They told me it's double blended, and whatever they're doing works. My only complaint? No maraschino cherry! I'm sorry, but a piña colada just isn't complete without one. One thing to keep in mind is that piña coladas tend to drink more like dessert than a strong cocktail. I had two and barely caught a buzz, but honestly I didn't care because they were that good. We also sampled the White Peach Sangria, and to me it tasted very similar to Moscato. If you're a Moscato fan, you'll probably love it. Overall, I'd definitely come back. Between the happy hour deals, the rum cocktails, and especially that piña colada, The Rum House is absolutely worth a visit. The piña colada would be the first thing I'd order again.

Beef patties were kinda weird as they tasted like they had curry or something, not too bad. This is coming from an actual Trini.

As a local, Joey K's is one of those places that reminds me why I love New Orleans food…read more We had the fried green tomatoes, Eggplant Napoleon pasta, and the hamburger steak with green beans and mac and cheese. Every single thing was a star. One of the things I love about NOLA is you can get a crawfish cream sauce at five different places, every one of them equally delicious, and somehow none of them taste the same. Joey K's version is exactly why. The eggplant was perfectly crispy on the outside with a tender center, and that crawfish cream sauce tied everything together. The hamburger steak was cooked perfectly and covered in house-made brown gravy that tasted like somebody's grandma still has the recipe. Comfort food done right. The fried green tomatoes might have been my favorite. The batter had an unexpected little hint of sweetness that paired beautifully with the grilled shrimp and remoulade. The French bread came out fresh and exactly what you want with good butter. Service was a hit. The place was spotless as an old school place can be. And I always love seeing the Simon folk art signs on the walls, they're part of the Joey K's experience for me. We cleaned every plate, which tells you everything you need to know. When a table full of locals leaves with nothing but empty plates, that's about the best review you can give.

The interior was spacious and airy, with plenty of colorful artwork and signs all around. There was a Chalkboard with the specials of the day. From the specials menu, I ordered the Voodoo Catfish (full fried filet) with Crawfish Mac and cheese with seasonal vegetable, which was Sweet Peas. I also got a Cup of Jambalaya (half portion). The Catfish was absolutely delicious. It was oh so light, irresistibly crispy, flaky, and well seasoned. Mac and Cheese was satisfyingly cheesy with flavorful crawfish. Sweet Peas were cooked perfectly and just the right consistency with a slight pop of sweetness. Jambalaya had chicken, sausage, and shrimp. The dish could have used more shrimp and seasoning. Service was solid. Our waitress was welcoming and knew the menu well. Everything was very reasonably priced. I was so full at the end of the meal, I didn't have room for dessert, but would like to try the Blackberry Cobbler.
