The food was amazing my chicken came out hot and very flavorful, the greens were very good, the yams were perfectly cooked and the Mac and cheese were to die for all the food items were 10/10. The French 75 was chefs kiss's it was my first and it didn't disappoint. I also had the chocolate molten cake to me it had an old taste to me that's the only complaint I have. The service was great from the time we walked in to the time we left very accommodating to us and our needs. You literally have *"Be curious, not judgmental"* printed on the back of your shirts--yet what we experienced was the complete opposite. We came to celebrate my baby's birthday--this was a place *they* chose--and instead of feeling welcomed, we were met with unnecessary aggression. Ahmad, one of the owners, approached my children in a very rude and aggressive manner while they were simply being children and taking pictures. That moment alone shifted the entire energy of our visit. What's even more concerning is what *didn't* receive attention. We sat for 30 minutes without a waitress. Meanwhile, one server--Seven--was visibly overwhelmed, handling all the outside tables alone. Despite that, she still showed care and effort by trying to find us assistance, and I genuinely appreciate her for that. Once Briana came, she did an excellent job and took care of us the best she could. However, by that time, the experience had already been impacted. Our appetizers came out warm--not hot--and the food took so long that my children were no longer even interested in eating. We ended up packing everything to go, which is disappointing when the intention was to sit, celebrate, and enjoy the moment together. It's so unfortunate that we ended our trip to Houston here. The service was slow we were ignored for 45 minutes after being seated. Then when our server finally came it took another half hour to get WATER! We stayed, trying to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt but ultimately it took 2 plus hours after being seated to get any food. Additionally some of our party's food had clearly been waiting under a warm lamp for way too long and the quality was not great. The ambiance was nice, and we went on a Thursday night so there was definitely a mix of people dressed up and some casual. The food was a mix of good and just okay. I got the catfish and grits and I will say that was great, and I'd def order again. However, my friend got the chops and cheese and I will say that Mac and cheese is not something I recommended ordering. The waffle and wings were also pretty good, and the seafood queso was a nice switch up from regular queso. Only other complaint I really have is that the service to get our food out was pretty slow, but I think that's because we had a big party (but I will say again this was a Thursday night and it wasn't crazy crowded). The drive from The Woodlands was worth it. Wish there could be a few soul food restaurants in TW especially since the area has become quite diverse within the past decade. Our group had the Crispy Sweet and Spicy Shrimp twice as appetizers, Creole Catfish, Quotes Soul Food Platter, and the Wings & Waffles. I was afraid as in some soul food restaurants, the food might turn out to be salty, but that was not the case. Everything was flavorful, not overdone, and tasted to perfection. I am so glad a friend recommended Quotes Restaurant to us. I am giving it a 4 out of 5 stars because indoors was too loud and bustling for us. Don't get me wrong, the music they were playing was great, but loud with a congested like feeling inside. We wanted to have conversation and that would not have taken place indoors; we would not have been able to hear each other talk. We chose outside and was glad we did. I ordered a French Rose drink which is very good and enjoyed the shrimp and catfish platter with two sides. I don't live in this general area but I would recommend stopping by based on the friendly staff as well as spacious and well decorated interior. My friends and I tried this place for dinner in April. Parking was not a problem, because the restaurant is located at Willowbrook Mall. Therefore ample amount of parking is available. I suggest packing a lot of patience when visiting this restaurant. Our waitress was good and attentive. The manager also made sure to check on guests frequently throughout the night. I ordered a drink called the swirl. The liquor in the drink mix was not good and I would not recommend it. My friends enjoyed their drinks, but I cannot remember what they ordered. I ordered the Quotes Captain's Platter. It came with a large piece of catfish, 4 jumbo shrimp, and two sides. I ordered greens and mac & cheese for my sides. The greens were seasoned very well and the mac & cheese were creamy and delicious. One friend had the catfish and grits and enjoyed her meal. The other friend had the oxtail mac & cheese as her entree and the Boudain egg-rolls for an appetizer. She loved her meal and I can second that because she let me try some of her food. We were so full we opted out of dessert. If you enjoy hookah they do have a vendor that provides hookah for a fee. Overall I like this place and would visit again.
