This is a cute new location of R&A! I'm pretty sure this is the old Levant location. The place was packed late morning on a Saturday but they still have a few tables inside and out which was nice. I love that there's a walk up window -- I don't think that was in Levant and it's a great addition! The food was great, atmosphere was fun, and the service was super pleasant! We got the Keiser and the pastrami wasn't dry whatsoever. Also just had a bagel with butter and jam and a cold brew. Expected the cold brew would come out quickly but it took a bit -- so maybe they were waiting on everything else? Either way, we enjoyed everything overall but prices were certainly steep. For 1 bagel sammie, 1 bagel, and 1 coffee, we paid over $30. read more

This was my first time trying R&A Sourdough and WOW... I'm already planning my next visit. I ordered the Hipster and it was honestly so delicious -- the bagel was perfectly soft with just the right chew, and everything inside tasted super fresh and balanced. The cream cheese, avocado, and veggies all came together so well... simple but done really right. You can tell the quality is there, and that's what makes it stand out. It didn't feel like just another bagel -- it actually felt like something I'd go out of my way for. Of course I had to grab chips on the side (because you have to), and paired it with a Dunkin drink which just made it the perfect little lunch moment. My only complaint is I really wish they had a location closer to Streeterville because I would be there all the time but honestly... it's good enough that it's still worth going out of the way for. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a fresh, flavorful bagel spot -- I'll 100% be back. read more

Super cute little place in Roscoe Village! Friendly service and great selection of pastries

Very glad to finally have a good bagel place in the neighborhood! We ordered online for takeout, and even just a few weeks into opening, they've got an efficient system down (pickup orders to the left when you walk in, everything else to the right). The bagels themselves are really well done. As a native east coaster, I'm definitely a stickler when it comes to bagels. They got the hardest thing right - a golden brown exterior yielding to a soft, airy, chewy interior. My only note is I wish the dough had a little more seasoning. The one thing I'll never understand about bagels in this city, however, is the price. $3 for a single, $16.50 for a half dozen. Back home in New Jersey, even today, bagels cost half that. So, it is at least a little bit of a challenge to justify the cost. That said, when we have a bagel craving, it looks like we have a nice new spot to satisfy it. read more

I go to their location at the Nettlehorst farmers market all the time specifically for the hot chocolate brownie, but this was my first time visiting the actual storefront! In a cute part of Roscoe and has a nice neighborhood feel. The space is small but wasn't super crowded. I got the brownie of course and the banana cookie which I absolutely loved! R&A though known for their bagels makes some of the best desserts in the city in my opinion. read more

Great spot for a bagel! The pricing can be a little higher, but the quality is worth it. Plan on placing an order ahead of time or arriving a bit earlier than you plan on eating as it was about a 25-30 min wait for food. The baked goods in the case were delicious as well. There is very limited seating inside along the front window, but there is a walkup window and commonly people waiting outside as well. We arrived late morning and coffee besides their black hot coffee was sold out- so plan ahead if you're a more particular coffee drinker. read more

The bagel scene in Chicago has admittedly not been great, but R&A Sourdough is trying to change that. This little storefront in Roscoe Village is pumping out some quality sourdough bagels and premium smears. I first tried them on TooGoodToGo and their cheddar jalapeño bagels were outta this work. The chive smear really put it over the top. The interior makes it perfect for grab and go. There are a few window seats but space is limited. The staff inside is always pleasant and efficient. I haven't tried one of their sandwiches yet so I'll plan on grabbing one of those next time I'm in. read more

The sourdough boule here is AMAZING and you must try it. Possibly the best sourdough that I've had. I can see myself getting that a lot. The breakfast bagel sandwiches are pretty good too - I got a bacon egg and cheese on a honey and oat bagel, toasted, and it was superb. They took over the space Levant used to use. Was sad about that given how great Levant was. R&A food is good but nothing that you can't get at any other bagel/bread shop. The people are nice. However, by no means worth waiting 35+ minutes for food. Ordered two bagels with cream cheese. Took 40 minutes. I've even gone multiple times just to see if it was an off day. The bagels look amazing and are very good. A little different than we are used to because they are sourdough. I want to go back and try a sandwich. Biggest gripe is the cost of $33/dozen. Otherwise cute little shop. Super friendly staff. I would recommend. read more

Welcome to the hood every neighborhood now needs a bagel shop. Everything here is good, and the staff is great. That being said bagels have been a bit inconsistent. My main problem is freshness. The work around is to get the bagel toasted. Today I forgot to order it toasted "My Bad" and I ruined what would have been a great Sammi. Perhaps SOP should be to ask if you want it toasted. Picked up bagels on a Sunday morning. I got the Rosemary Pink salt but it had no salt whatsoever. The bagel itself was mediocre at best. Also got a cinnamon roll that was burned and/or stale- I couldn't even eat it since it was so hard! Not a good first experience and we will not go back.
