This is going to be lengthy but for a very good reason.... Replacing the windows in your house is no one's favorite purchase. (Until it's done and you see how awesome they are and start asking yourself why didn't we do this sooner?!) I also waited to do this review until at least 4 months after the install to make sure all was ok. 4 months later all is great! Here are the facts and timeline: It took us 3 years to pull the trigger. Reviews are important and when we saw the reviews below + the costs of windows we got nervous... But!!!!! 1- Our visit to their office was exceptional - they took the time with us to show us all the details about the various types of windows 2- Came out and measured 2 times, once in 2021 and again in 2023 when we pulled the trigger :) - AZ has some weird shaped windows and we needed to be sure they could handle ours 3- They are a main supplier for contractors BUT the benefit of that to the rest of us is better, even less than half the pricing of competitors out there while still giving the high quality windows we wanted which made them a lead contender for us 4- We had the opportunity to have them replace a sliding glass door through an earlier job in 2021 that showed us the kind of great work they do, quality and attention to detail in the install 5- 2023- It was finally time b/c our single pane windows were terrible. We called and got our new quote (Matt was a our sales gentleman and he was great and very communicative, got back to us quickly and even hung in there with us patiently as we tried to decide over 2 years!) Quote had gone up due to inflation but not terribly. We were required to pay 50% upfront (yes that's scary) but all window places required that, remaining 50% 4 days before the install 6- Install team- Aaron was AMAZING- as the "Lead Installer" he handled everything that needed to get done with this install- right down to the very difficult rounded entry window that took some finesse to get it right. All installers were kind, respect of our property, completed the job, and took no shortcuts. 7- They fixed all the stucco post install that needed fixing - it was perfect! 8- They do NOT paint after the job so we managed getting a painter post install- not a big deal to us about it that at all I know making the decision to get new windows is hard- it's costly, it effects your home, it can be disruptive- but it's by far the best purchase decision I made in 2023 and already is saving more than half off my electric bill monthly. I would go back to R&K again if I need new work but my windows are done! :) - Thank you to Aarons entire team - you did awesome! read more

Quote and in home visit was great. However, Sales rep is rude and unhelpful. I had high expectations as R&K was recommended.

Would give zero stars if I could. Please never do business with these guys. You could find guys off of the street that would have more integrity than them. Once you see the photos you agree that negligence is the only right way to describe this company. Tri-Pointe Homes (which deserves equal blame for sub contracting this company) hired R&K to build my home in Queen Creek at the Grove. STRIKE 1: My inspectors identified a damaged structural truss that R&K tried to cover up by putting 2 2x4''s to support each side of the truss. Refer to the photos with the yellow arrows showing the faulty truss R&K decided to put up. This is a structural beam which further shows the lack of ethics this company has. STRIKE 2: I hired an independent structural engineer due to this being a big deal to independently evaluate the "repair" and sure enough came back as deficient. The recommendation was to remove the make shift 2x4's out and instead re-enforce with a steel plate and machine press it in to support this damanged truss. STRIKE 3 (and the worst of all). No words to describe the attempt to re-repair the first faulty repair. First of all, Tri-Pointe inspected this work and tried to cover it up by putting foam insulation before my guy could come out to re-inspect. Anyways, upon re-inspection, we discovered that instead of removing the 2x4's, they decided to cut into it (which I guess is fine although shoddy workmanship) BUT while doing this, THEY CUT THROUGH THE CENTRAL VERTICAL WOOD BEAM holding the truss beam! As you can see through the photo, the vertical beam was almost 80% of the way cut through and they felt that it was ok to put the steel plate above the compromised vertical wood piece as okay. For someone that is not even in construction, what is the point of securing the steel plate if the piece that is holding up the structure is severely compromised! What is even more dissapointing is Tri-Pointe signed off on the home. This is so bad that there is no possible excuse that could explain the gross negligance of this company. NEVER EVER do any work with this company (their other reviews also seem to justify this). Also NEVER EVER purchase a home with Tri-Pointe homes. I'm currently attempting to exit the contract and they are not cooperating. Their entire crew is unresponsive and is very poor at basic communication. If its one thing that I stayed on top of that turned out like this, how else do you think this home is being built? Shame on them for hiring shoddy sub contractors like R&K. As a general contractor we used to purchase our windows, doors and trim packages through this company. Their pricing over the years made them not compatible with our line of work, we found Home Depot to be about 10-15% less on average. We eventually got away from ordering from R&K. Recently we decided we would give them a try again. The order process was a bit of a challenge, although a complete list was provided. We paid for the materials and then where told they messed up and needed to revise their quote. Told them to cancel that part of the order and we will keep what had already come in. We where then informed that there would not be a credit as the cost for the trim package equaled the amount of the deposit paid. This would have put the trim at $7-8 a lineal foot, when in actuality is around $2.00 or less everywhere else. Turns out their accounting made a mistake, price difference was resolved; we decided to still give them a chance on the rest of the order. Order was delivered to the job site, we are missing three items that where paid for; R&K had no idea the complete order was not delivered. Reach out to them, give them the items that are missing (confirmed they where paid for) and was told they where trying to find the items. Today we stop in to pick up another order, it was not ready and the warehouse had to call another location to have the product sent over. Of course this would be on a morning that we have time restraints. We asked about the remaining three items, a different person states we are only missing one item that is a fire rated door. Explained no, we are missing three interior doors, and both fire rated doors where already on site. This person then gets an attitude and things went downhill from there. Guess trying to support a local small company rather than big box is a huge mistake. My business partner also priced out an order for another one of our projects, they where $7,000 higher than Depot. Basically double of what depot wanted. Do yourself a favor, save the headache and go elsewhere. This experience has cost us time, money, and caused a headache with our client. read more

Small buyers beware. I get this company mostly distributes and works with large business, contractors etc but they also state they can handle the individual projects. I went to the Home Depot to pick up a substantially expensive wrought iron front door but was told the company only deals that particular model through R&K so I swung by. After being ignored for some time by the 4 guys sitting in the door department building one of them asked me in a rather annoyed way what I wanted. When I told him the door brand I was looking for he said, "Goddamn it, I wish people would stop doing that. We don't carry that brand." He said he didn't know who did, and didn't bother to ask me if he could perhaps show me something similar they might carry. I was essentially dismissed. So I am sorry that I bothered this dude with my annoying question (read sarcasm here) and would say unless you are looking to pick up 500 doors for a construction project don't waste your time here. If they don't have it they don't have it, which I get, but they didn't need to be such jerks about it. ------ After posting my 1 star review over the way I was treated Chip reached out to me and provided me with Ericks cell phone number as promised below. I spoke at length with Erick who apologized profusely for the way the situation was handled and said they would be using this as a teaching experience as no matter the size of the customer their needs were just as important. He had me email him the door info for what I was looking for and said he would see about getting it. Whether or not we can get that accomplished is beside the point at this time I think, but if we do I will update this review again to reflect the process, however I certainly appreciated the responses I received to my post and phone calls. It can be easy to judge a company based on an experience with an Employee who may be having a bad day, so it was nice to get some follow up feedback as they understand this was not the way the conversation should have been handled. 1 star upgraded to 3 stars just for the follow up. My wife and I went into the office to check on pricing for a new home build the gentleman at the counter was very helpful and answered a lot of our questions. We emails over the plans that we had to get an estimate, and was told it would be about 3 weeks as they were backed up its now been close to 2 months and we have not heard anything I called just over 2 weeks ago to see if I could find anything out and was told they would have to look into it and call me back again I have heard nothing. Had two nice back doors put in. ***Sales*** Worked with Eddie. He was very polite and responded to calls/concerns quickly. He was very helpful in helping us pick doors. +1 R&K requires you to pay 80% of the cost of the entire job (not just the doors) before they even order the doors. We thought that was outrageous since as most of us know what happens when the contractor has most of the money is his pocket (service/control degrades quickly). We weren't crazy about this and they did accommodate us a bit regarding this which made us feel more comfortable to proceed. +1 We had a disagreement on a fix several months after the install. Basically they installed the two doors in close proximity to each other but they did not key them to the same key. They wanted me to pay $125 to fix this. A piece of my email response to R&K... "I don't feel your stance is the correct one. You can agree that this was overlooked during planning and installation but then you still feel I should pay as if that didn't happen. When you consider how much we paid for this job this would have been a cheap fix for R&K (less than 1% of the total job cost). When you look at it that way even if I was totally wrong (which I do not believe I am), the end result (a happy customer) is not worth a 1% concession? " -2 ***Installation*** We are happy with the installation. The installation job appears to be of high quality. No issue yet. +4 ***Trim*** The guys that did it were very nice. We showed them a picture that at a glance they did succeed in matching. However, it just didn't look right in person. It's like it was missing some craftsmanship (hard to explain). Anyhow, we decided to pay the people that did our kitchen cabinets an extra $500 to tear it out and redo it. What a difference that made. Night and day. We never complained to R&K about it because we liked the guys that did it and technically they did match the photo that we showed them. However, the moment we hired the other trim pro it was apparent that his skill level was far beyond what R&K could provide. He not only matched the photo but immediately guided us into options that would make it look much better and guided us away from details that would make it look bad. He was more expensive $500 vs $300 that we paid to R&K for the trim but the difference was astounding. -1 ***Recommendation To Others*** I would use R&K again to install doors or windows. However, I would not have them do any of the finish work. Don't be surprised if they don't go above and beyond to make sure you are happy. If I could give zero stars I would. Three days prior to install the company demanded payment in full, despite no work being done and no term in their contract that says payment is required in full. When asking our sales consultant Dale where this policy was listed, we were told it was not an official policy. There is also no such policy listed on the website. When asked to speak with a supervisor (Ken), we were told: "he would contact us". Dale then apologized for not alerting us to the "policy" (i.e., took responsibility for the mistake) yet did absolutely nothing to rectify the situation. Well..... these guys don't seem to have an issue with taking ones money - they can DO that. However after the sale they act as if they don't know you. After being brushed off by Josh who refused to warranty one window from a $10k order just 3 months after the sale, ( he even refused to contact the manufacturer ) I called Anderson directly and was treated very well by them and Anderson is standing behind their product, as they should, because the defect fell within their warranty terms. The 2 stars is specifically for the tech who was on site as he was quite accommodating. I can understand the persons review saying this probably isn't best for residential projects. I wanted to see if I needed added insulation so I used the form on the website I was sent a quote sight unseen, I asked if there weren't doing on site estimates as the website says possibly because of covid and got no response. The site only mentions limited visitation of their office. I asked well then what if I don't need as much as I was being quoted. He said I can ask the people that show to check it out when they get here. After I gave him my CC number I was told someone would call to schedule but not when. After a week I emailed asking when someone was going to schedule, no response but the next day someone did call to schedule...at 6am? really? I went with 9:30am-12:00pm instead. When the tech arrived I explained that he was to check if I even needed any insulation. He was obviously not told that might happen but he checked and said it could use some in certain spots and not in others. So I said well does that mean I could pay less that the quoted price as you may not need as much. He said he doesn't know what the customers are charged but he would call and ask. He came back and said it will get worked out depending on what it used. While the job was started I didn't hear my phone ring, but the person he called left a message saying how it works is that the quote is for 7 bags (it doesn't say that on quote, no amount of insulation is specified) if they use 7 I'll pay the quoted amount, if they only use 5 they still spray the extra 2 bags and I'll pay the quoted amount and if they use 9 they'll charge me extra. After the job was done I asked if they used all 7 and he said yes but I don't know if that's because it actually needed 7 or because they are told to use it all regardless and charge me anyway. I know they said they were going to put up plastic and I specifically asked if I needed to move anything because the access is in the master closet. I was told no but there are still tufts of the insulation on pieces of clothing. Even though they were recommended to me I would not recommend the insulation department. Other departments may be stellar. Don't let the video on the website fool you, that is not how my experience went at all. read more

This is an overdue review but I have had two doors installed by R&K at my house: a set of French doors 7 years ago and then last year we had them replace our front door. Both jobs were priced competitively, completed as scheduled, and we have been happy with the quality and durability of both. In both cases we went with relatively simple fiberglass doors, but they made a world of difference just functioning properly compared to what was there before. I worked with Erick on the more recent order and he was very timely and easy to deal with. He also gave me a few helpful maintenance tips while doing the measuring. Will be going back to R&K first the next time I am shopping for doors. read more

I called R&K for a quote because our neighbors used them and I liked the windows that they had put in. So I called to schedule someone to come out to measure and was told it was over a month for someone to come out. Okay. Tim came out at the scheduled date and measured to replace our existing 16 windows, 4 sliders and 2 french doors. He was pleasant and did not hard sell us, which we appreciated. The following Monday I called Don to ask when I might expect our quote (got voicemail) and he emailed me he received my message and would have the quote by the end of the day. That was Monday. It is now Friday and I have heard nothing from Don. One should not have to wait 6 weeks or more for a quote. There are too many window installers in the Phoenix area to put up with a company that is not concerned about customer service and getting back to customers in a timely fashion. I contracted with R&K to install additional blown-in insulation in my attic. Our salesperson, Luis M. was extremely knowledgeable, professional and personable. He listened to our concerns, evaluated the situation and suggested that we add enough additional insulation to attain an R-49 rating. Their pricing was competitive and their service was exceptional. The 2 man installation crew that arrived at our home were very polite and professional. They showed up exactly on time and completed the job in a timely fashion. They thoroughly cleaned up after the job and left our home as they found it. The new insulation has made a noticeable difference to our comfort level in our home. I was looking for corner mouldings, and I was referred to them by two other dealers in the Valley. I went there, showed them what I was after, and they assured me they could get it by the next week. Based on this, I got additional mouldings cut for my house. I went back the next week, and they didn't have it. I went back the next week, and they couldn't figure out how to turn on the lights in the warehouse. I went back the next week, and they had the wrong product. I went back the next week, and they still couldn't figure out how to turn on the lights in the warehouse. I went back the next week, and it was the product they had ordered for me, but it turned out that it was made in the wrong size, and nobody made it in the right size. So they refunded my money, MINUS A 15% RESTOCKING FEE for the wrong item! If you are big into wasting whole months of your life, and giving away your money, then I recommend R & K Building Supplies. If you don't like those things, then I recommend you stay the hell away from them. read more

Run away! This review is intended for the door department only. The sales person, Tim Yadeska, has terrible customer service and basically blew us off!!! We left our plans for him and he said that he was busy and would get us a quote within a few weeks. A few weeks later, no quote. We called and emailed but no reply. Finally, after 4 weeks, he told us he would send it but we still didn't receive anything. He kept giving us the run around and after two months we called letting him know our frustrations and he said he would send it the next day and that he was "just finishing it up." Well, now it is 6 months past and still no quote! Do not deal with this company for doors, or at least don't deal with Tim. Terrible! What a shame! If you have a small job find someone other than R&K because they are not interested. I needed to replace a patio door and an exterior door. I first filled out an online form and was promptly responded to via email. I replied to the email and asked that someone call me to set up an appointment. I waited two weeks for a call back and nothing so I went in to their showroom to set up something up and maybe get shown some doors. The first salesmen sent me to another guy who said he had my info, asked what day was good for someone to come measure the doors. I could tell this salesman was not to interested in my business, he hardly looked up and never asked if I wanted to look at some door - I had to ask him what brands they sold - but at least I finally had an appointment to get the doors measured. The appointment for the door measurement went fine, the guy measuring seemed to know his stuff. Problem is that I never heard back with a quote. After waiting 30 days I decided to call R&K and ask if they had my quote. The salesman on the line told me it was not done but he had my info and that "it was his number one priority and I would have a quote by the end of the day". (He even called me back to tell me this so I know they have my number.). Well... that was a week ago and I never heard back or received an email. I guess it is too small of a job for them. read more

I'm giving them 1 star only because this tool won't allow no stars. Very disappointed with their customer service and follow through. If you don't mind having to call them constantly because they won't step up and fix the issue, this is your company. Months ago we were told they would fix the problem with my new French doors. The glass panes were installed with glass manufactures name etched in the middle of the glass. They tried telling that was per code but interestingly enough, the other door doesn't have this code requirement. Which one is correct? Then after many discussions, they finally agreed they wouldn't like the doors installed that way in their house. They said they would make it right....So here we are, months later and no word from them. No call, no status...We've given up......my advise, stay away from this company. read more

As part of a remodel my contractor removed a window and ordered a French door with built-in blinds, which he installed. The French doors from R&K were made to order. Not only do they give me complete control over the amount of sunlight coming in, the shades NEVER need to be cleaned (in between front and back glass) and they are classy looking. Unfortunately, my contractor did a poor job installing them and said "nothing could be done" about the gap between the doors. I lived with this until my handyman suggested I call R&D Building Supplies before he tried to do anything. R&D responded with timely and excellent customer service! Frank came to the house, looked the situation over, explained the problem and his approach to fix it. Within an hour my French doors fit perfectly! They are beautiful! The first lady I talked to was nice(except for asking is I was calling from Home Depot, like I worked there or something...who asks that...) but had computer issues and so she transferred me to her partner who was having better luck with he computer. I'm building a bedroom addition for my stepson and trusted R&K for all lumber, window, insulation and custom trusses. The only thing that seemed to go right was the window. The lumber package material was delivered with 1/3rd chewed up, splitting, and also short pieces, etc. The trusses took 4 weeks to build and were delivered with the wrong pitch, delaying the project. Things happen, I get it. The reason for my 5-stars is quite simple, Troy with lumber responded immediately and the next day he personally drove out to my house and replaced the damaged pieces, no questions asked and apologized. Mike & Bruce with the truss department came out to my house within 2 hours of being notified the trusses were manufactured incorrectly and less than 24 hours later the corrected trusses were built AND delivered at my doorstep, yes, in less than 24 hours of being notified and on a short July 4th holiday week!! They turned a bad situation into an unbelievable experience, beyond expectations all the way around, great guys! Extremely happy and would highly recommend to even us small guys doing small projects. We've worked with Tim in the door department on the replacement of multiple standard-sized hollow core doors with solid core 8' doors. Tim was very helpful in assisting with the selection of the right style and complementing door casings. Responsive to emails and messages, calls when the order is complete, and was very helpful when one of the orders wasn't cut properly. Workmanship on the doors, including the primer coat was excellent and only required very light sanding prior to sprayed finish coats. The warehouse attendants loaded the doors and even cut the 17' casing pieces in half to fit in the car. Perhaps the best part is the doors cost about 1/3 as much as those from a major DIY chain and were ready for pickup in one week, not 6 weeks. read more

In late June 2016, we called R&K Doors for a warranty issue on a $1K Milgard slider door that we had purchased. The bottom track of the door was defective and had deteriorated causing the door not to slide. We contacted R&K customer service to get a new/replacement track for the door. The customer service gentlemen we spoke to about the part was arrogant and rude stating that we could not purchase that part because they only work with builders now and we are a homeowner. Keep in mind, when we purchased the door, they did work with individual homeowners. When we called a second time, we were told that we could get the slider track but they would first have to send out a technician for a lead test on the paint of the house. We were not asking for installation; merely the part to fix the door ourselves and a lead test should not be necessary. In the end, we were told they could not help us get the part for the slider door. TIP - if you are not a home builder I doubt they will bother working with you. Be cautious. read more

R & K Were contracted to insulate our 500 Sq ft garage as a retrofit in a new home. The two member team showed up on time. They drilled 2" hole between the 2x4 studs into the dry wall. the blew cellulose insulation in to the walls. Everything was done to prevent any damage to the interior of the garage. They were assigned to insulate the roof of the garage but it was not possible to do this. I contacted the Sales rep and Luis immediately re-quoted the job at a lower cost and the crew insulated the celling of the garage. I had received four quotes and R & K was competitive. If I could give this company a '0' I would. My appointment was scheduled in early March 2016. It took several days for them to call me back to schedule an appointment. I was told I would receive an email within a week of my appointment with a quote. To date, I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED A QUOTE! I even emailed the person whom I had the appointment with, which happens to be an Installation Supervisor / Windows, three weeks after the appointment informing him I had not received a quote. I received no phone call or email with an explanation or apology. I wouldn't use this company now if they offered to install the replacement windows for free! Most people just run to Home Depot when they are getting ready to do home improvements because they cater to the DIYers and don't force you to buy wholesale amounts. Don't be afraid of the large building suppliers they all have a customer store front that you can go into and pick what you want. My neighbor got new bedroom doors in his house and they were a lot less than HD. I told him i needed new doors and baseboards and i wanted to put up some crown molding as well, he told me to try R&K and they are awesome. they have a door showroom for exterior and interior doors, and all the different kinds of trim you can think of. Steve, or Dustin will treat you good and find what you are looking for. It is so nice not to have those hideous brown wood grain doors on my bedrooms, instead i have nice paneled doors with beautiful hardware to make my home look newer. I don't know if crown molding is still in, but i love the fact that i don't have to do such a good job with my painting of the walls with the ceiling, just cover it with the molding. that's it. read more
