What happened to our favorite Thai restaurant??? Well, it has a new owner, a new manager and new cooks which is clearly NOT a good thing at this point. Please don't think of ordering the pineapple fried rice...it was supposed to have chicken, shrimp, cashews and raising (and pineapple of course). It had two shrimp, and a few tiny pieces of chicken, there were only a few broken pieces of cashews (certainly NOT like their photo) and I counted only 6 raisins. C'MON....really, for $18??????? To top it off, it had hardly any flavor. Fast forward to my favorite green curry with chicken. To be fair, the amount of chicken was reasonable but the entire to go box of curry had RED something over the top of the green curry. I tasted it and it was CHILI POWDER!!!!! .....really, they just poured chili powder on top rather than be bothered to mix it in? Then, my friend's favorite curry was very watery and had to be mixed with rice. What a sad thing......we both question why we would return when we used to get "to go" orders almost every week. I came to R Thai for lunch based on a rec from my physical therapist. He said "if you are not looking for it, you may miss it" I like that so I went. The atmosphere is pretty typical for Thai places around here. Tile floors, uncovered tables, thinly padded vinyl and metal chairs, hand written signage and lots of random chach on the counter. Service was not smiley but adequate. There are maybe 12 small tables spaced out for covid. At least 5 take out pick ups came while I ate but dine in was fairly empty. My order was green curry lunch with Thai tea. I stuck to my usual approach and ordered mild with spices on the side. I did not need to add heat it turned out i liked my meal and will be back. 5 stars for now. I may adjust later as I learn more. read more

My wife and I have watched this eatery become a Thai restaurant to a Filipino restaurant and back again to a Thai restaurant. Even though we have only lived in Redlands for a little over three years, one can easily understand our hesitancy to try this place. This time, my mother-in-law decided on R Thai Cuisine based on the Yelp rating and pictures. To give this place a fair chance, we ordered a variety of items starting with the fried tofu and papaya salad. The fried tofu was nicely made with a golden-brown crunchy exterior. It would have been nice if the pieces were cut into thicker pieces and the sauce it was served with was peanut based rather than a bland sweet-and-sour sauce. The papaya salad was extremely tasty with crunchy peanuts, fish sauce, small shrimp pieces, and a nice heat level. For our entrees, we ordered the drunken noodles, Tom yum noodle, boat noodle, and three flavor (whole) fish. The first bite into the firm noodles and my mother-in-law was blown away; she immediately said it was really good. And it was--fresh, crisp vegetables with a lighly sauced thick rice noodle and chicken (choice of protein). The Tom yum noodle was served with fish balls, shrimp, and fried wonton chips and a choice of noodles in a clear broth. This was both refreshing and filling at the same time with sour and savory notes. The boat noodle was a noodle soup made of beef broth and served with beef and choice of noodles. Lastly, the whole fish ended up being fried pampano in a sweet sour sauce with crisp vegetables. Although the sauce child have been more flavorful, the cook off the fish made up for it. R Thai house is definitely one of the better Thai options available. Although this restaurant is a tad small with smaller portion sizes, the cozy atmosphere and the authenticity of the food make this place worth it. read more

With the in-laws, my wife's younger brother and his wife, for dinner after visiting a relative at Loma Linda Hospital. A first time visit to this small but very friendly restaurant. Our server was so sweet and polite, a reason in itself for a return visit. We started our meal with the Vegetable Tempura appetizer which was very good, along with Thai iced tea. Each of us then chose an item each on the menu to share; Orange Chicken, Veggie Lover with Chicken, Spicy Rice, and a Chicken Curry Dish. All very good choices, though my wife doesn't care at all for curry so it was a pass for her. A huge bowl of steamed rice filled out the rest of our meal with leftovers given to my wife and I. Brother-in-law's treat to us along with handling the entire bill. There were only a few cons to speak of; like very small dinner plates for one. She offered us extra plates, but with the table being so cramped, there was really no space left with 4 people, and several food items, to put anything else. Really sweet lady. We ordered: Vegetable tempura appetizer. The veggies were very fresh, still crisp, and the batter was perfectly crunchy. They even battered and fried the baby corn-very odd. Overall this dish was okay. It was a little bland and needed more seasoning. 2 Pad woon sen (1 with tofu and the other with mock chicken). This is one of my favorite dishes I order anytime I eat Thai. It had a good flavor and lots of vegetables. If you like something a little healthier, then this would be the dish to get. I liked the mock chicken. I would compare it to the Loma Linda brand Choplets in a can. Spicy fried rice with tofu was excellent. This was probably our favorite and most flavorful dish we ordered. My 17 year old son ordered a Thai iced tea and said it wasn't sweet enough for him, but I thought it tasted perfect. The customer service is nice but prepare to leave very hungry. After eating my meal I'm Starving. The curry was basically broth with some veggies and a few tiny slivers of meat. And it's not like it cost any less than other places. I wish I could get my money back. Being on the go I need to eat to refuel to feel energized for the day & I've lost my money only be left hungry. My husband and I went to R Thai on Sunday around noon. We were seated immediately although the restaurant had a full house. We shared the Panang Curry with Chicken and the Pad Kee Mao with Beef. The Panang Curry (not peanut based) seemed pretty standard to me although my husband enjoyed that dish more than I did. I did request to add bamboo shoots to the Panang Curry and they agreed, which I really appreciated. The Pad Kee Mao highlighted the flavor of the spices. The noodles were the perfect texture to me although if you like a more charred texture, then Thai House would be the right place to go. The way they made the meat definitely is the best Thai place in the area and the meat is very tender rather than dry and tough like other Thai places. read more

My mom's neighbor recommended this place for lunch, and now we can't understand how we managed to not know about it until now. The food is light, flavorful, beautiful. They made our dishes exactly how we each wanted them, with the right amount of heat. Our lunch specials were just the right size--filling but not wasteful. We felt that the price was very reasonable for the quality of the ingredients and the level of cuisine. You can pay a lot more at a corporate restaurant and not get half the experience as eating R Thai Cuisine. read more

Absolutely delicious! All the food was so yummy. I had the eggplant with soft tofu medium spicy. If you like spicy in general the medium is good! My friend had the pad Thai with tofu and chicken. They said it was yummy but the texture was a little weird but the flavor was there. I will definitely come back. read more

I really like this spot! It's a true mom and pop Thai food place! The only issue is finding the spot because they don't have a large sign with their name outside but it's right next to Subway! In terms of the food, the pad kee mao was actually spicy and I love it! They get a large lunch rush so make sure you order ahead of time. One of the better Thai places in the area! They have a really good house noodle soup (I recommend getting it with the thick noodles). It has a nice clear broth which has a really rich flavor that's not too heavy. Their veggie / tofu spring rolls are also worth getting. One bit of advice would be to call ahead because it can take a while for the food to come out. read more

This Thai restaurant is sinking down and here's why 1. Mandatory18% TIP minimum 2. Their young waiters doesn't know about "customer service" they are just chatting at the back of the register not paying attention if customers needs help 3. Their condiments jars are dirty, dusty, open the lid and flip it over and you will see gunk of black molds (I addressed this issue to the young male waiter but he did not gave a better solution, he just took it away and put it under the counter instead of taking it to the kitchen and give it to the dishwasher. They clearly just don't care. 4. Their cash register is often times broken. The first time I thought it was a one time incident... then it happened again. They told me the cash register is not working while I was already eating the food. They demanded cash, I got no choice but to find cash to pay for my order. It feels like you are being scammed. The restaurant is getting bad with their service and the taste of food is average. I hope they will improve because I like Thai food and they are in the area. read more

I came here for the fresh rolls, but quickly discovered that their curry and pad Thai is delicious! I ended up eating off my husband's plate. The fresh/spring rolls were okay, but could not compete with the decadent noodles and curry around me. I would definitely come back here again, prepared to eat more noodle-based dishes. By far, one of the best Thai kitchens around here. It's essence is captivating simply by the the way you are treated when you arrive. The food is amazing. The place is a bit small, and if you catch the lunch rush, it might take a while for them to take your order. In spite of all this, and if you are patient enough, I promise that the food will be worth the wait. This is our local go to Thai food. The food is usually great and the staff is always nice. My favorite dish of theirs is the Goy see Mee. They have an amazing apps platter. This place seemed to be good based on reviews. My coworker and I decided to give this place a try. I got Pad-see-ew and she got pad Thai. It was not good. Hardly had any sauce so it tasted so bland. I called and they told me they would remake it. Before I left work I gave them a call letting them know I will be arriving in 15 min, the guy on then phone all of a a sudden stated my plate had to be full in order to remake it. I explained that I had taken more than 2 bites and was so disappointed on how poorly it was made before deciding to give them a call. They gave me so much trouble i hung up. I will never go there again. There a reason why their restaurant is always empty. They do not handle simple situations or care about customer satisfaction. I heard about this place from my friends but haven't gotten a chance to explore it myself. So I decided to order to go ( take out ). The place is small but functional, clean and nicely decorated. The hostess and everyone are friendly. Foods portions are more than average. Flavorful. On the Pad Se Ew, I wish they use Chinese broccoli instead of the regular broccoli. There are several decent Thai restaurants in the IE, but R Thai has the BEST pad thai, hands down. It comes out tasting exactly the same, every time. I get serious cravings for this particular pad thai, and the 5 stars are reflective of this dish. There are a couple vegetarians in my family, so we've tried the veggie stir fries, which are also good. Pad see yew is our least fave dish here. Give this mom & pop stop a try!!
