The place is good and dose offer some healthy choices but why would one go for anything healthy at a place with the word Grease Truck in it? Good place to come after some spirits have been consumed. They've recently been evicted from their old location on College Ave., but they're still around. Like most food, these things are amazing when you're drunk. They're pretty good sober too. If you can manage 5 in 45 minutes, you can create your own to add to the menu. And at about $6 a piece, these sandwiches are a solid meal for cheap. I wanted to love the place, I really did. I used to come here all the time when it was still the "grease trucks." I got the Fat Beach and Fat Filipino. The sandwiches were still good but they seem to be using less sauce/fat than I remembered them. I was a bit turned off by the overflowing recycling bins by the rear door that made it hard to walk in. The tables were moved in from the original grease trucks. However, indoors, the tables just looked dirty with stuck bits of lettuce and I honestly think they should just let the tables go. They looked unsanitary and turned me off a bit, though I still wolfed down two fat sandwiches. It's still a good place to pick up drunk food and I will always eat here out of nostalgia but the overall experience just isn't as great as it used to be. read more

I decided to try out RU hungry and see how their fat sandwiches tasted after having tried Douglass Pizza fat sandwiches (which was amazing!) I ordered the Filipino and it was dry, didn't have enough meat and was mostly French fries. It seemed like it wasn't fresh.It lacked flavor. I was SO disappointed. The reason I gave this place 3 stars is because the particular sandwich i ordered Veggie Indian had mozz sticks missing and was stuffed with way tooo many french fries :( I realized it after i got home. Currently a senior at Rutgers at the time of this review. The general understanding is that FAT Sandwiches are only good after a long night of shenanigans. RU Hungry used to be a grease truck, now it is a store. The store closes at midnight so that's a bit inconvenient. This place is known for its FAT sandwiches. I've gotten the platters as well. I would say overall they are higher quality than other places nearby in terms of "being clean," but less in terms of quantity and taste. Overall I'd reccomend giving it a try but only get the FAT sandwich, shakes and cheese-fries are not the best. read more

So I ordered sandwiches to be delivered to our hotel for me and my friends. They said it would take 30 minutes with which I was ok. I sat in the hotel lobby the entire time since I had something to do. 45 minutes after we still dont have our food so I call the food truck back (not the driver), and they said the driver was on his way. It was a little later than expected but whatever. 70 minutes of waiting the driver still hasnt arrived. I call back, and they say the same thing. He is almost on his way. 90 minutes of waiting. I'm actually so mad right now, and of course they tell me the same thing over the phone. It wasnt until 2 hours after I had placed my order that the driver came into the lobby. He blamed me for not being at the lobby when he came to supposedly deliver my food which was a terrible lie because I was literally sitting in the lobby the entire time. After he is caught in this lie, he lies and says that he actually had been by "multiple" times already, tried calling me, but I didnt pick up. I could see from my phone history this wasnt true. Also, I had been calling the food truck multiple times, and they had called me back. We had been communicating the whole time, and not once did they ever say the driver had tried to call us. They had called him to ask about his location, and they had always apologized to me and said the food was coming soon. The driver got caught lying twice now. This whole time we're having a heated argument in the middle of the lobby because the driver couldnt be an adult and take responsibility for his actions. Finally he demands a tip after I've waited 2 hours for my food. The sandwiches were cold. The driver was a lying, deflective, rude idiot who took no responsibility. The person taking the calls at the food truck had no idea what was going on and lied to me about the estimated time of arrival multiple times. I started coming to this restaurant in grade school 10 years ago and have never experienced such awful service. Last night for the first time, I ordered online late at night because I was up late working on a paper. When I got to the restaurant, I was given a sandwich (which I'm allergic to because of the gluten) instead of the platter I thought I ordered. I let the cashier know that I got the online menu confused and asked for either a refund or to exchange my order. He refused to do either due to me customizing my order (due to allergies). Unfortunately, I did not have my card with me to purchase the correct item on the menu without the refund. Below average at best. Went there for the famous Fat Darrel. The sandwich ranked #1 by maxim magazine. I may never believe anything out of that magazine again. Sometimes when I'm either trying to recover or just want some good ol' comfort food, I know I can rely on RU Hungry and the Grease Trucks to deliver. On a side note: Despite being called the Grease Trucks, you'll rarely have any greasiness/ oil dripping out of your sandwich. Don't get me wrong, they pack in the calories, but the sandwiches are not as gross as the uninitiated may be led to believe. They wrap it tightly in a roll so you'll be able to get everything all into TWO delicious bites. (If you manage to get everything in one bite, then all the power to you.) A fat sandwich is sandwich with multiple kinds of meat (gyro, cheesesteak, chicken fingers, etc.), sauce, and maybe some shreds of lettuce. On top of all that is a healthy serving of french fries. Like most of the food I have discovered since moving to the Garden State, this can't possibly be good for my cardiovascular health. Oddly enough, the fries (the signature component of the sandwich) detract from the sandwich as much as it makes it. The fries were just there and weren't particularly good or bad. It was a layer of starch that didn't add any flavor to the sandwich. If the fries were actually good I'd really eat fat sandwiches on a regular basis and not just for their novelty. We saw this on Man vs. Food and decided to try it. Truth be told we were in New Brunswick for the Stromboli place and because it's just Joe and my luck, it happened to be under construction. Thank goodness we watched the full episode and found this place. Joe ordered the Fat Darryl and I ordered the Fat Indian, loaded down with marinara, falafel, motz sticks and a handful of fries for good measure. It. Was. Epic. I don't even want to imagine how many calories is in that thing, because it was delicious, fatty heaven.
