We have been to this amazing restaurant many times. Everything we have ever had to eat has been amazing. We went in last night (Sat) and Sarah was our server. She was up beat super friendly and had great energy. We ordered the peppers, crudo, Dungeness crab salad ( to die for) and two pastas. Everything was perfection. We had a little tiny bit of pasta left over that we had boxed. But after we paid our bill another server accidentally gave away our food to another table. No problem things happen. But Sarah was amazing and not only did the chefs make us a whole new sized Past entree but Sarah also brought us two glasses of complementary wine while we waited. Raccolto does not miss. Delicious and highly enjoyable way to celebrate our anniversary! Top notch house made cocktails and dishes to pair them with. We started with beautifully prepared Gougeres, think light, fluffy puff pastry topped with flavorful, freshly shredded Italian cheese. Excellent. Next, we tasted crispy house greens with a bright balsamic dressing. Delish. We also enjoyed the pasta with guanciale (think high end Italian bacon) and the flat iron steak. This might be one of my favorite restaurants in the city. The food is what really shines here, every dish is outstanding. The server was really helpful when it comes to ordering since it is various sized shared plates. The ambience is romantic but minimalistic, clean, straight lines in the design, and front windows that open out. We went here for a date night, and the prices are a little out of our ball park but definitely worth the splurge for us. Every dish we tried was phenomenal, and the wine the server helped us select was perfect as well. I highly recommend this place, especially for a special dinner. read more

Oh Yelp, how I love how you encourage the public to act as their own NY Times "Food Critic" and review neighborhood restaurants as if they are writing for James Beard or Michelin... *rolls eyes*. I simply love this place from their superb staff to their delicious food. Never disappoints. The ambience is unpretentious, but lovely and simple w/ elegant decor. Their Dungeness crab salad is DELISH. Their pasta dishes are always perfectly tasty (hand made pasta!) without charging an arm and a leg. Second time we made reservations for a special night which they called us and cancelled. So I looked at this place because it's been rated 4.5 out of 5 stars. I looked at the food pictures and it was the best menu ever. Portions were good dice and look amazing. Then I called to make reservations and the guy was not acomodaring me at the time I could and I had to agree to his time. When I arrived, I was surprised to find a little place with about 5 tables down stairs and 4 upstairs. So I told the guy I wanted at the top. He said they were not sitting up stairs. So I told him the other party and I would decide later. Then he chased me outside and told Me he could arrange. Then we stayed and the menu was a different menu from the one online (that's deceiving kind of like when people put 20 old pictures and when you meet them, they aré someone else) Then he started pushing and selling dishes from the menu and said the dishes were big and we could share when we ordered something different from each section. I said ok sounds decent. Then the prices were too high for the quality of the place and the atmosphere, and most importantly the FOOD!!! My king salmon arrived and it was just a very small little piece of more like a white fish in a huge plate (trying to look high end) and my friend ordered some pasta and some greens. The pasta was mediocre, I can invite you to my home to have real Italian pasta, the salad was a small plate that I didn't want to share, the salmon was tasteless and bland and they served it with no sides like potatoes or any vegetable, so it was just a tiny piece of fish. The experience was 0 out of 5 to us. The bill was over $80 for a mediocre meal that I could have had for about half the price at Saltys. I DO NOT recommend Raccolto, this place is mediocre. read more

This is a WONDERFUL and much needed addition to West Seattle. We enjoyed Raccolto for my husbands birthday celebration and will definitely be back. I made a reservation for Monday evening and I'm really glad I did, as the place was packed with other restaurant visitors. I imagine Thursday, Friday, Saturday really busy. I doubt we could have gotten in as a walk up even on a Monday night, but Open Table was easy to reserve through. Our waitress, Sarah, was very pleasant and knew the food and wine menu well. Reminder, this was for a celebration dinner, so we went a little big for a Monday night dinner. We ordered family style, which I would recommend, and shared everything. Started with a bottle of wine to have throughout our meal (which was delicious!) and the Beef Tartare whcih came with crostini (outstanding! I could eat just that over and over again). Next came two pasta dishes, the Cavatelli and Strozzapreti. Both were outstanding, but I found the Strozzapreti to be my favorite, husband loved the Cavatelli better. Pasta itself was fresh and tender. We ended with the seasonal fish, which was Salmon with lobster mushrooms and summer squash. Total for bottle of wine, appi, two pasta dishes, and protein dish was about $135+tip. I would say that each pasta dish and the salmon are entrees that you could order solo if you wanted. We really liked the atmosphere, which was energetic and fun. The space is bright and fresh. Our table was near the open kitchen, allowing us to watch the meals being prepared. One waitress or manager noticed we were enjoying watching the meal preperation and mentioned that they have reserved seating up at the chef's counter, which offers a prix fixe menu. I think we will definitely try that! We will try and pop in at the bar area sometime and try the cocktails and have some appetizers soon. read more

In a nutshell inconsistent and indifferent service. Quality of the New York strip steak sauce was absolutely delicious the first time ... on our last visit it was cold the steak was so blue it chilled the sauce and the addition of raisins this time added an un pleasant sweetness. The radicchio salad was swimming in pork fat no hint of acid, the celery root soup which was so divine the last time a perfect blend of velvety goodness, this time it was too thick and not velvety as well the additional balsamic did not perform its complimentary task very well due to the soup being a bit off. Our first visit we had parts of our order forgotten.. service was slow waiter a bit sensitive... however we worked w him and got him to engage w us. Actually we missed him last night. Final disappointment for the evening both times my husband decanted wine... was fine poured for us the first visit... this time the waitress refused the chef refused apparently against wash state law to remove your cork prior to going to restaurant ... we have done this many times all over Seattle never a problem as well as last visit to this restaurant. A very expensive bottle of wine was ruined ... mainly due to stifling heat rising upstairs believe me it was about 78 degrees. Our wine and we were miserable ... same table both times always too hot. Avoid upstairs if possible or wear light clothing. Finally, apparently at our first visit the chef was away ... food was better... maybe he should allow his substitute to handle the food ... also when you deny a patron a service (wont pour already corked wine) maybe offer them a conciliatory glass on the house. read more

A little late with the review. New Year's Eve. Pre-Set menu was delicious! Slightly disappointed that there weren't many pasta choices. However, what we did have for dinner was delightful. Hmmm - I was so ready to love this place but after reading a few mixed reviews I was downgrading my expectations to hopeful - loads of hype and gushes in the majority of reviews and from our visit tonight there is obvious inspiration and skill on display - upon viewing the menu, the options seem tight and focused - small and likely seasonal differences on dishes from versions I viewed on previous menus - foie and fig was sublime and incredible (if only hinting of foie) - the next starter was the albacore crudo, beautifully clean, fresh and crisp but lacking in seasoning (fried capers didn't lend the saltiness needed). The spaghetti with anchovies arrived impressively as did the cavatappi with poached egg - a bit too al dente for me and packing a lot more spicy heat than we anticipated. Service was fine but not overly informative and the value is fair if they bring their A game. Overall we were a little underwhelmed - protein options were few after the starter choices - again, I'm splitting some hairs but may have had I had higher expectations than I should have - will try them again in a few months. read more

I recently came to Raccolto for a birthday dinner based on the raving reviews I found online. It was my first time visiting and I was excited to see what the hype was about. The atmosphere was great, perfect for a large party or an intimate date night. The vibe was industrial chic in a loft setup, very open and welcoming. The cocktails and appetizers were delicious and came out fairly quickly. For my main course, I ordered the tagliatelle with crab, and I have to say I was very disappointed. All I could taste was butter. It had absolutely no flavor at all, and very little crab for an additional $8. Luckily, I tried my boyfriends meal which was the chicken rigatoni, and my sisters which was the halibut and both were flavorful and much better than mine. I am thinking I maybe just selected the wrong entree, but should that even be a thing in a restaurant of this caliper? read more

A party of four.. three of us were disappointed with varied pasta dishes that were bland, other than excessively salty, and with minuscule ingredient portions. Our wine.. good, but available at a local grocery store for half the price at retail.. the finale: we asked for a birthday surprise for one of our number. I have eaten here once and attempted to eat here once. When I ate there with friends, the service was very slow and sporadic. The food was good, but too expensive for what we received. It's very crowded and noisy. The second time, we had reservations for 4. I called several hours before our reservation, to increase the reservation to 5. I got their answering machine which said to leave reservation information, which is what I did. When we got there, not only did they not have seats for 5, they were unwilling to make it work and said they never received the voicemail. My daughter was so looking forward to having her birthday dinner there and was extremely upset by the experience. I will never go to this restaurant again and I discourage anyone else, if you expect good service and a good experience. read more

Limited options for those who are not meat eaters. Pasta is hand-made and delicious. I thought the portion sizes were just right and did not feel that they were too small. My pasta was $11.00 - priced right. I guess the most off-putting thing was the service. Server was high-sales and definitely trying to push the higher priced items on the menu. Also kept pushing us to order more dishes to "share" even though we mentioned that we have totally different tastes in what we like to eat (I don't eat meat; my friend does). Went there for restaurant week. Amazing food. Hands down the best restaurant in West Seattle. We had a party of eight and they brought all the first course family style so we got to try five different starters. Most of us got the halibut which was cooked to perfection. Even their pasta with poached egg was really yummy. The pork loin was moist and tasty as well. All three desserts were just as amazing but the panna cotta was the best I've ever had. I'm starting at 2 stars with the expectation that after Raccolto is open for awhile that they work out some of the issues and I can increase by a star or 2. The space is nice and clear (it is new) but it was kind of loud. May need something on the walls to cut down on the echo. We went on a Saturday, without reservations, just before 8pm. There were 1 or 2 tables open. It took longer than it should have for the host to greet us and take our name but after that we got a table pretty quick. The 2 stars is due to the service. There needed to be at least 1 more sever, an expeditor, and a bar back or second bartender. We waited about 10-15 min for our sever so when she arrived we had our drink, app, and dinner order ready to go. We waited another 10 minutes for bread and water. Another 5-10 min later our drinks came, but they were wrong. The sever confirmed our order. Another 5-10 min and our app came out. Another 5 min and our drinks came. 10-15 min after that our dinners came. So a little over 30 min for drinks and a little over an hour, from when we walked in, for food. It also took awhile to get our check at the end of the meal. The good news! The food was really good. We both got pasta dishes. She got the Tagliatelle and I got something that is not on the online menu and I forgot the name, but it was great. Portion size may seem small to "American" standards but I thought it was fine. The gelato was excellent. We will go back to see if the service tightens up. read more

By far - the best restaurant in west Seattle. I have to say I would not suggest the figs and the foie gras mouse, but that was the only thing that didn't absolutely blow us away. Had the most wonderful bowl of pasta - shared a corn, chili yogurt pasta along with a pork gravy type pasta. Really superb. The noodles are out of this world! So excited to have this place in the neighborhood. The cavatelli with poached egg and cheese was so creamy, well-seasoned, and perfectly cooked. I enjoyed it with a wine pairing recommended by my server to balance the richness of the pasta.
