Is anyone tasting these dishes before they leave the kitchen? Considering the prices, the food was downright disappointing. The four appetizers we ordered were shockingly salty, and the four pasta dishes absolutely bland. We requested salt to the table for those. I came in with a group of people while traveling. It is an intimate neighborhood place. Everyone was friendly and our servers were helpful in determining the right proportions to order. We ordered the raw oysters, and the scallops to split and then we each ordered a pasta. This was perfect for 3 people. The pasta sauces were delicious and served al-dente which is the correct way to serve it. I appreciate that our server explained how the kitchen worked and how our food would come out depending on our order. We had a great time overall and the food was great. read more

We celebrated our 15 year anniversary with friends at Raccolto last night. They have a lovely loft space upstairs that is semi-private. They offered us a chef's 3 course menu family style. They took into account allergies and dietary restrictions. The food was plentiful, exciting and comforting. My husband and I LOVE coming here for date night. The atmosphere is so lovely and bright and the service is always fantastic. Everyone is so friendly and so passionate about the food that they create, it's a great experience. Our personal favorite starter is the foie gras mousse. Truly, even if you're not a fan of foie, I would highly recommend giving this a try. It's one of the BEST preparations we've ever had. Always try the pastas, too. Since it's a small/sharing plates set up, you definitely do not have to feel guilty about ordering several different things. Along with amazing cocktails, the wine list really hits on any flavors you like. We've brought in bottles of wine to drink with dinner too, but I really enjoying trying new things on the wine list. My server always makes recommendations on new things or asks what I enjoy drinking, so she can find a good pairing. Finally, the affogato for a little sweet treat at the end of dinner is perfection. Some dishes generally change each time we go in, so we always ask what's new. Definitely recommend trying this place! read more

Very, VERY good. First date night without the baby and it did not disappoint. Small place with a friendly staff...they really try to take good care of you. Craft cocktails are really good, burrata is some of the best I've had, halibut was off the charts, pork chop was fantastic. Fair prices...2 desserts, 2 entrees, 2 apps, bottle of wine, and a craft cocktail under $200 before the tip! This was a date night with my wife. We made a reservation, as was recommended by others. The dining area holds about 15 tables and the upstairs seating is only opened on the weekends. The bar has about six stools and they serve a full menu at the bar. The kitchen is open to the view by the diners. This is great for entertainment and clearly shows the quality of their cooking and food. The service was great and well informed on the food. Sarah was wonderful, timing our food perfectly and giving us advise on paring of food items. The food is wonderful. We started with the olives, which were warmed with spices, herbs and citrus. We then had the crab salad, which is to die for. Fresh peas, fennel and crab with a light and refreshing dressing. We had bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar and it pared well with everything. Main corse was perfectly cooked pasta with a fresh sauce and the halibut. We shared a bottle of wine and at the end of the evening we were full and satisfied. Perfect meal all around. While we were there the tables filled up and there was line waiting. You MUST make a reservation to get in on time and not wait. The food is the best in West Seattle and one of the best in all of Seattle. You have to try this place. The cost is reasonable and well worth every cent. We got home and made a reservation for our next meal out. That GOOD..... Don't hesitate as this place will have reservations for the next year in no time at all. read more

Based on the food alone, I would give this restaurant a higher rating, but pleasant dining is based upon the total experience. This restaurant, as with so many new restaurants, has terrible acoustics. All hard surfaces. Nothing sound absorbing. The result is clamor and noise and conversation is difficult. Not relaxing. That said, the service is friendly and the wait staff is knowledgeable. The cold melon soup was wonderful. Pastas were nicely seasoned and portions were ample. read more

What a wonderful surprise in West Seattle. Great spot for a summer dinner with full-wall windows open to the evening air and open kitchen to watch our stunning entrees. High-quality and interesting selections with a solid wine and beer list. Reasonable prices and portions. They serve entrees to share (if you order steak, for example, they will serve it sliced for everyone at your table). And, entrees come out separately, at different times, to encourage sharing. Count on time to languish here. Recommend sharing a couple of appetizers--we loved the albacore crudo and chilled tomato-apricot soup (perfect on a summer.night). Server seemed bothered when one of us kept the steak tartare to himself (our preference). Great pasta, roasted chicken and the sockeye salmon was perfecto. Nice blueberry sorbet and a semifredo with pistachios capped it off. Reservations a good idea. read more

We went here the other night and had a pretty mediocre meal. It was spendy for the level of service. Our reservation for a birthday was pushed back a half hour and our waiter mixed up our bill twice and then double charged my friend's card. They made exceptions to accommodate food allergies, which was appreciated. read more

Still on the hunt for great Italian in Seattle.. Pasta here is handmade which puts it a step above the rest, but the menu is lacking real diversity. Started with beet salad, beef tartare, and smoked fish. Beet salad was delicious, but I found not one- but TWO hairs in my food. It was definitely hair from the food prep guy because it was same length/style/color. Not the best way to start. Beef tartare was excellent. Smoked fish was decent, but felt like it had a lot of filler and not as delicate as I expected. Pastas were good, but not as flavorful as I had hoped. Profiteroles for dessert were delicious! Caramel gelato yum. Cocktails and wines were fab! read more

The delicious hand-rolled bucatini in herb romesco, pistachio, pecorino dish; albacore crudo; salad; and the cocktail of the evening was all a perfect way to end up at the West Seattle Summer Street Festival. And might I add, our lovely server of the evening was Georgia...superb! read more

Not impressed with the food, it was mediocre at best. Our wait with reservations for 2 was about 10 minutes, glad we weren't the couple that arrived 2 minutes later then us, they had reservations for the same time as us but were seated 20 minutes later, despite there being 4 available tables (yeah this is one of those kind of places). Took about 1 hr 45 for the 3 courses that were part of restaurant week, longer that we expected and would have been OK with if the food was up to par. Ultimately disappointed even after ordering all the 'best' options the server suggested. Loved that he told us the sorbet wasn't any good, so we didn't order it, and then he brought it anyways. Suggestion...go to Ma'ono a block away. read more

We booked a reservation and invited friends based on reviews. Very disappointed in our experience. Service was slow with staff pushing multiple plates and higher priced wine. When questioned regarding one missing salad we got "We like to stagger dishes" rather than apology. The missing salad arrived much later and had obviously not been submitted with original order. Quality of salads was mixed with crab salad having very little crab. Pasta dishes were tasty but pasta was very doughy. Two stars based on three stars for food and one star for service. Went here with several friends on Valentines Day weekend. We made reservations and were really excited to try this little restaurant. Food was good but the service was sub par. We ordered a smoked fish dish and the server accidentally dropped the dish on my friend and on the table. She proceeded to pick the food off the table with her hands and fork and place it back on the table and attempt to serve it to us. Then she added she would give us a discount because they were out of ingredients and could not make more. We were very disturbed by what happened as it was unsanitary and inappropriate. Several of the ppl in our group worked in the food industry for years and we know from food handling classes and common sense, that you would never do that. We made a complaint and another server Kaylie made an attempt to make it right by comping our table's drinks. Overall food was good but it's concerning as we don't know how the food is being handled in the back or if sanitation standards are upheld. Also we found it odd that when we first arrived 1.5 hours after opening time and the restaurant was ill-prepared for the night. They were out of chicken, bread and steak. Raccolto is a West Seattle jewel of a restaurant. It was our first time and we had a wonderful meal. Georgia, our server was fabulous. She was delightful, knowledgeable and attentive. She recommended the smoked cauliflower and it was delicious. All the courses she recommended where so good, especially the crab and lobster mushroom Tagliatelle, it was over the moon. The whole team delivered authentic and friendly service. We are going to gather our friends and come back and experience the tasting menu at the Chef's Table. We are hooked. We wanted to love this place. West Seattle doesn't have many full service date night kind of places. While the starters were very very good the pastas were extremely disappointing. We started with oysters which were excellent. Then had Hamachi Crudo, beet salad and Gem Salad which were also quite good. Then the bolognese and pork rigatoni arrived. Honestly the bolognese tasted like Chef Boy R Dee beefaroni and the rigatoni was so salty we couldn't eat it. Both were extremely disappointing. The gelato was served half melted and two tiny scoops the size of tiny ice cubes and half melted. Service was just ok as well. So sad to write a sub-average review when we had such high hopes. Really hope they can make the needed changes to reign supreme here in the junction. read more

Nice add to the neighborhood, we shared the tagliatelle and bucatini, both were good. The decor is clean and modern, service was attentive without being intrusive. Pretty good value, two drinks, two appetizers and two pasta entrees came to less than $90 including the tip. I would recommend and go again, although I think some kind of happy hour menu would be a good addition. read more

Dined here for Valentines day. Food was very good - service was very good - but I didn't like that they took advantage of pricing for Valentines Day. 70$ for a tasting menu that served half portions, with no wine pairing included - not good. Their regular menu prices are much much lower, so we assumed the V Day price fix would have included wine. We were disappointed. read more

Pasta dishes are bland. Wine list is Italian only - which isn't bad but not a great selection and on the expensive side for what you get. They always seem to be "booked" but there is always an empty table or two. I know all the newbies to west seattle are looking for a hip, different, delicious restaurant, this isn't it for me. West sardine kitchen has better food- so does itto's. Bathroom is also three feet from the bar... just a bit weird- like having your 1/2 bath at home off the kitchen. read more

Havent been here, so dont know anything about the place, but I dont think I will ever go there either. Here's why - made a reservation a couple weeks ago for the family for V day this year via Opentable, and chose this place after spending quite a bit of time. Get a call yesterday, saying they will only have a $70pp fixed price menu and a la carte would not be available. So had to cancel the reservation. There was no indication on Opentable or the restaurant site that they would be doing a fixed price set menu. If it was I would not reserve. Now I have to look for another place, and many of the nicer places are no longer available. There are ways to handle a situation like this, but the guy on the phone was curt. I dont plan to spend my $'s on places who make rules on the fly and dont really care about prospective customers. No thank you. read more

I find Raccolto's super stripped down esthetic boring and tiresome, and frankly uncomfortable. Between the hard seats and deafening noise level, we were underwhelmed even before the food arrived. However, the lighting is at a very pleasantly low level. Some attempt has been made to temper the noise (several sound absorption panels), but it is woefully inadequate. We (two) ordered one cocktail each, bread and olives, a green (salad or kale, so unremarkable that I don't remember), and two pasta dishes- no entree'. The cocktails were great, the warm olives were great, the pasta dishes (Bolognese and another meat-centric sauce) were ok. The pasta itself was very good if a little too al dente, but the addition of Kaffir lime leaves was oh so wrong! Granted I am spoiled from just having spent 2 weeks eating in Bologna, and I'm sure the chef isn't trying to adhere to any super traditional fare, but ick. The service was ok, not particularly attentive, (felt a little frantic), and we had to finally get up and get someone to bring us our check. The tab was over $100 (light drinking, no wine, and no entree) Overall, it was not a good value. I'll go elsewhere for cocktails and olives (where I can sit without my butt and thighs going numb), and for authentic Italian I'll stick to La Spiga, without peers for pasta and dishes of Emilia Romagna, and a beautiful space to boot. read more
