Really great service and products at Rack N Road in Arden. I ended up getting my RockyMounts Guiderail hitch bike rack from here, which has been excellent so far. They were able to assemble it and help me attach it to my car. Aside from RockyMounts, they also carry Kuat bike racks and some other brands I don't recall. I was most recently there in need of help for troubleshooting a hitch installation and I have to give a huge shoutout to Damion and Cameron for helping me out. I have a 4-door MINI Cooper that didn't come with factory rails, and the dealership quoted almost $2000 to have them installed. They recommended that I check out Rack N Road and I'm so glad I did - they installed a really nice Yakima rack for a fraction of the dealership cost, and they were able to get me an appointment the day that I called! The rack looks and fits great, and the guys were also able to find a roof cargo box that fits my little car even with the back hatch open. I will never shop here again! Customer service is definately lacking at this location. We purchased a roof top tent in April, we were told it was already on it's way. The date kept getting pushed back, we didn't get it until JUNE! I contacted the manufacturer and they stated that they ship out their products as the vendor's orders come in... hmmmm... Anyway, it came in in June, we paid to have them install it. Come to find out there was a defect in the ladder. I provided details as well as pictures of the defect. (By the way their response time is as slow as snails.) I finally reached out to the manufacturer, forwarded them all the emails between myself and Rack N Road. The manufacturer was confused as to why they were even giving me push back to begin with. The manufactuer said all Rack N Road had to do was forward the pictures to them and they would've sent out a new ladder right away. So if I were you, avoid this place. They'd rather fight with you then to make things right. read more

My wife and I were visiting the bay area from Palmdale and had the best experience at Rack N Road. We were pulling our Kendon motorcycle trailer with our new 2020 Lincoln Aviator when the trailer lights started acting up. We had no brake lights and no turn signals. We visited the local Lincoln dealer in Fairfield and a couple of trailer stores in Vacaville, but nobody was able or willing to help. I looked on the Kendon website and saw the Rack N Road is a Kendon dealer, so I gave them a call. John did a great job helping me diagnose the problem over the phone. When we got to the Rack N Road store Chad was waiting with test equipment and got right to work. John and Chad tested the factory wiring harness on the Lincoln and the wiring on the trailer and determined it was faulty LED trailer lights. They even found the wire that had become disconnected from the circuit board inside the taillight! John stripped the wires for us making the installation of the new lights a snap. I took my Honda CRV in to have a tow hitch receiver installed. I want to mount a bike rack for camping trips. I first priced the receiver and install at the Honda dealer. They wanted $1000. Yikes. For all their talk about selection and customization, they were unable to figure out a solution for what I was looking for. I was able to find a product that met my needs relatively quickly using this really new technology called Google. If you go that route and order something but want these guys to install it, be forewarned, even though their schedule is "wide open", you have to pay half the cost as a deposit just to book an appointment. They have a diverse showroom, carrying all the top rack and rack accessories from all the brands, as well as parts and components to keep what you already have in working order. They provide installation services as well for many of their products. Their staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Their prices are fair--you may be able to find some of the stuff they sell at a lower price somewhere else (like, online) but the help you get from the staff at RnR is worth it--additionally, their stock is pretty fantastic, so you can look at things before purchasing them. Reason why i rated this 1 star is that i went in the get a Crossbar and the Hullavator ask the guy which combo would be the best he suggested the new wing-bar to go with it. I was the choice i was going to make anyways but.. he only gave me the 53"inch bars which i thought that he being a sales rep should know if it is the best combo to go with my 2011 Honda Pilot anyways i took it home installed the bars it fits but i was looking online and the bars needs to go 4-8inchs out so that the hullavator could fit so it wont hit the car.. opened the hullavator was missing some screws called Thule they said they would send me some longer ones to fit the pilot i told them never mind ill just take it to Rack n Road and pay 30 dollars for them to install it. Took it there ask the installer guy don't this needs like 4-8 inches to put the hullavator in? He says ya... but its only for wider cars like jeeps and stuff so it wont hit it.. I'm thinking if they say it was required 4-8inch off the side of a car i don't think it would matter plus the 53inch and the 60inch costs the same that's what i told the guy he than told me well ill try to make it fit and if it doesn't than ill change out the bars. Here i am again thinking they sell the stuff and see my car so they would know what they are talking about and know what the heck they are doing.m Took it home on mothers day was going to take my wife out for some kayaking and when i try to put my Hobie Compass on (65lb) the hullavator put the back and scratched my Honda pilot on the side!!! Omg called them again today and told them what happen and the guy said ya they should have installed the 60inch bars in so i have to take it back in today at 4pm to have it done again... I live in Stockton so if they would have done it right the first time this would have been a 5 star not a 1 star.. Hands crossed for today if i am not happy with the set up again and a non experience person is installing or helping me than i am just going to ask for my money back and get it somewhere else this is ridiculous. (Lucky i am not doing a claim on my car for the scratches) Edit- so when i called the guy who answer said okay see you at 4pm got off at 3pm in Stockton hit traffic got there at 4:30pm the desk guy seemed overwhelmed cause he was helping another guy and 1 other person was there plus me. Heard a girl was talking on the phone in the office and other person in the back doing god knows what probably cleaning and trying to leave so the front guy went to the back first to call the other guy out he never came than he ask the lady in the office if she can help and took her 5-10 mins to come out to help the other guy so after 5-7 min the guy from the back came out and ask me "how can i help you?" told him my story and he said well who sold it to you? I was like well the other guy that was her in the front desk sold it to me and you installed it knowing that you should have put a longer crossbar on it. Than he said sorry i cant install it right now cause we Close at 5pm told him well i was here for like 30min without any help and i called in the morning and the guy said ok see you around 4 i work in customer service for 20 years and those are all run around questions cause they are too lazy to change it or just want to go home if i had not payed 1300 for my set up i would have been like ok sure but no first it messed up my car and than i couldn't take it out with my wife on mothers day and this? Are you kidding me? he than said "well when i was putting it on i asked the owner and he said it was fine." well did you tell the owner that i had a 65lb kayak pushing on it and the handles of the hullavator hitting the car? Than after all that i just said forget it just give me my money back and than right when i said that OMG it went to i don't want to install it too okay ill install it for you? I asked o so you are going to install it? he reply ya if i don't i have to give you your money back.. WTF you want my money but cant give me good service i told him well if you would have listen to me the first time about the bars that this would not happen. I run 3 Stores and i would never have one of my employee ask one of my customers that much questions and say okay we are going to close i cant help you. Really bad service only helped me out only when i told them okay take all your crap off and give me my money back..Charging that much and still charge for installation 60 for cross bars and 30 for hullavator and still asking dumb questions and having non helpful people working in the store. I will tell all my friends and family about how rude your staff and store in so they well never come in there to get anything. Seen some of your reviews and i see the owner or manager said we will stay open till we are finish and everything is taken care of.. as a owner you are trying to grow business not lose it. Please have more knowledgeable people work and better customer service skills are very much needed. read more

The installed our hitch in less time than the expectation they set, which was nice, and because of that, it cost less than we were expecting. The one thing that doesn't really make me want to come back is that of the three or four guys just sitting around, none of them were friendly or engaging. Polite, sure, but I really just felt like I was an inconvenience to them. Despite that, they do have a pretty sweet sale occurring, so I'll probably be back just to buy a rack.
