So of course right before our trip to Tahoe for a nice new years weekend of chilaxing and snowboarding, ... the radiator on my Ford Expedition blew! It was a Wednesday so I had two days to deal with it before leaving on the trip that Friday. I'm an avid DIYr so did an Amazon search but nothing could be delivered for like a week. Cost of a radiator ranged between $100-$300. I know mechanic prices and labor for this job should not exceed $300-$500 max! Called around and was careful not to sound desperate asking for quotes. 3-4 places quoted me between $900-$1400!!! Left a message at Radiator Land and Brandon called me back! He gave me a price in my range and was able to accommodate a 1 day radiator replacement ! He was honest and said that the quoted price was for just the radiator and removal of old one and install of new one. If there were any other surprises (bad hoses and such ) of course price would be different . And of course they would have to diagnose and verify the old radiator indeed sprung a leak ! My car unexpectedly broke down when I happened to be in the same area as this shop, and I walked into Radiatorland only to ask to buy some tools to fix the car, not expecting anything extra because this happened on Christmas Eve. I was allowed to borrow some tools, rather than having to buy them which was great. When I was unable to fix my car by myself, the guys at Radiatorland offered to drive me back to my vehicle and jump start it so I could at least relocate my car. One of the mechanics Miguel drove me to my car and not only helped me move the car, but also identified and gave me instructions on how to fix what was wrong (was not a real mechanical issue, luckily). Given that the folks at Radiatorland basically rectified my whole car trouble situation, I offered compensation for their services. Their reply was that they just wanted to help and gave me a "Merry Christmas". Due to their can-do attitude and willingness to assist, I got my car running when I was left with very few other options (and a dead phone) on the eve of a major holiday. Read a few bad reviews regarding customer service before calling for a quote on my truck. The general tone of the shop manager or desk guy(Greg) is pretty curt. I don't want a sensitive mechanic, but customer friendly would be nice. The quote I received was 100 less than what the actual cost would be because he quoted the wrong radiator. I expect the radiator expert to make sure he is quoting the right size, make and model of a part. It seems its up to the customer to research and ensure your getting what you need. Again, not customer focused. After he realized he gave me a bad quote, he told me, "you can go to a dealer, they can charge you tons, or I can do it for what I said.". I guess he didn't know I knew that already. I don't reccomend any service that isn't customer friendly. I most certainly don't recommend services that seem unprofessional. The customer service provided by the "manager" Greg is awful. He is arrogant and does not seem to care if you have the work done by them or not. He is also very slow to provide an estimate and when I asked for one he just said it would not be more than $xxx. I got the feeling that even if the estimate was a lot higher than the actual cost of service, I would still be charged close to the estimate. I had some water leaking under my passenger seat. They unclogged the A/C drain and did not solve the problem, then they asked me to replace my windshield which does not have any problem. I went to another store and solved the problem simply by cleaning the windshield drain. They may do a good job if you know what you need, but do not let them diagnose the problem. read more

I bought a used all aluminum radiator (Ron Davis - great solution for hot running sports cars on track days - I love them!) and it had a leak where a stone hit one of the cooling tubes. Very fair price, they pressure checked it to 21 psi which gives me confidence, same day-turnaround, I was in at 8, picked it up at the end of the day. I was prepared to buy some parts from them for my S10 and they told me I needed nothing, the cooling ports for transmission fluid could simply be ignored on this radiator. My A/C suddenly stopped working (in the summer) and was blowing hot air constantly. I found Radiatorland via Google and decided I had to at least get a quote. I swung by and got my heater core bypassed. Was a fairly pain free process at a reasonable price. My only problem was they didn't bother topping off my reservoir. I wish I could put zero stars. What customer service. This guy on the phone was terrible. I told him I had coolant leaking and then he immediately quoted me $189.00 for a new radiator plus $159.00 extra to install it. Don't you want to know more? Don't you want to know where the leak is? I told him that the leak may be from the engine block and I may not need a new radiator and he said, "Oh, well, your phone is not working too well so I couldn't really understand what you were saying." So you quote people a price without not knowing what they really want? Then without telling me to hold on, I heard him arguing with another person in the shop about putting so much time into their car and it would cost at last a thousand bucks. Autoland - they're actually the same shop - on De La Cruz. Ask for Greg Circuit. Greg took great care of me. I've had two repairs done on my Rodeo: Fuel Injection cleaning and Fuel Pump/Sender Unit replacement. Greg and Autoland do quick work and provide shuttle service pick-up/drop-off to boot! Prices are reasonable - a good value. Never want to go to a dealership again. So happy that I've also taken my GMC Yukon in for electrical service. Frankly, I don't see why anyone would go anywhere else for radiator service, and probably just about any other kind of work at the co-located Auto-land. From top to bottom, these guys did a fantastic job with my 2003 Corolla, installing a good OEM radiator for 43% of what the dealership wanted (and 37% of the price with genuine Toyota parts). The place is clean, conveniently located, and the front office coordinator, Carlos, was genuinely considerate. I especially appreciated the complementary ride to and from work by Jimmy. I took my SUV to a GMC dealership and initally they said to repair the A/C would cost $125 but then later called to say it will cost over $1,400 and that I would also need to replace the front and rear brakes which were at 1/28th remaining and that would be about $600 more. I called Radiatorland and they said they would be a lot less than the dealership and use brand new parts. When I brought my car in, they took a look at it and they told me I don't need rear brakes, they were still 80% good but I would need to replace the front brakes. They fixed everything in the time frame they gave me and the final price was slightly below what they quoted me which saved me over $600 from the dealership quote. It is nice to know that there is an auto repair company out there that is doing what is right for the consumer. read more

Thanks to Radiatorland my car passed smog and is running great. I am new to California and needed to get tabs for my 1993 Acura. Since my tabs were expiring I needed to get new ones right away. After failing a smog test and being told that my car needed a new engine or serveral thousand dollars of work by a service station I thought I would need to get a new car. Then I came to Radiatorland. The techs at Radiatorland looked at my car and the report from the service station and determined that a new engine was not needed and my car could be fixed for much less. After a couple hours work and some minor parts my car had passed smog and had new tabs. Radiatorland had saved the day and kept my car on the road for a very reasonable price. Had a recore done on an old Sunbeam radiator. (This was a referral from Rootes Group Depot, which does most of their radiator work there). Saved me $250 over the other shop I had considered, and they had it done the following day. Fast & efficient. Would recommend them for sure. BTW - Not sure about that 1 star rating - looks like a smear campaign to me. 1 star slam based just on a phone conversation, and not actual work preformed. Really? My '81 Fiat Spider 2000 radiator was overheating in bumper-to-bumper traffic. The electric cooling fan couldn't keep it cool enough & the engine oil was getting too hot. I decided to flush my radiator & drained only a half gallon of coolant out of it. I looked inside the radiator & half of the water passages were clogged. This little radiator felt like it had lead in it. The last time I had this done was by George's Radiator shop in Sunnyvale- out of business. Looked around & was referred to Radiatorland in Santa Clara. Greg at the front counter said it would need rodding. He also gave me a referral for brass radiator peacock. BTW- don't use Santa Clara hard water; use distilled water only in 50/50 coolant- thanks Greg! It must have been bad cause they had to rod it twice. I wish I was informed about the additional labor not being part of original quote. The bottom line is they fixed the overheating problem. The radiator held a gallon of 50/50 coolant. Now I'm cool! read more
