The iced vanilla latte was just alright but nothing special. The iced mocha was very good and we would get it again. The U.S.A melt was a nice size and very good, and so was the Montreal bagel but the vinaigrette was lacking flavor. Overall it's a nice place for lunch/brunch. read more

I really wanted to love this place but sadly could not. The coffee was average and had grounds, the $5.95 croissant with prosciutto egg and Harvarti was bland, dry and lukewarm. (Needed a sauce) The outside patio is great but the chairs were not. My friend had a mocha, and again the coffee itself was average. Tried this place out on a whim. So glad I did. I tried their lunch combo with turkey panini which included a cup of soup and small tasting of pretzels. All amazing but the soup was the bomb. Found this gem while driving around the neighborhood. Everything we ordered warranted a wide-eyed mmm out of us! Prices are slightly above average for the portions but the quality makes up for it. We had the egg white, spinach and cheese croissant, the sausage, egg white, roasted peppers and cheese spinach wrap, the three cheese panini, and the waffles with strawberries. All were delicious. The egg white was so thick and fluffy and the waffles were the perfect amount of sweet and fluffy as well. We got a green tea latte and a strawberry smoothie, which were both good but a little on the sweet side for us. I believe they use powder rather than real fruit for the smoothie. We ate outside and the weather and ambiance were perfect. The service from who we're assuming is the owner was outstanding. The cashier guy didn't offer any suggestions when we couldn't decide what to get, but the owner noticed us a few minutes later and made some good suggestions and even told us he could customize our order however we liked it. He smiled and waved at our kids, made conversation, and checked on us several times to make sure we were good. He brought out extra napkins without us asking and was so sweet and friendly to the kiddos. You definitely don't get that everywhere, so this place really deserves five happy stars! read more

Great little gem in San Dimas! Run by a mother a son, this place is your neighborhood cafe! You can tell the owners take great pride in their business. I came in at the wee hours of 6:30 am on a weekday, and I was promptly greeted by them & they introduced themselves to me! You don't get that very often, which blew me away. It's not going to be your McDonald's priced breakfast, so don't be shocked. It's a small business and they finely craft their food with great ingredients. I absolutely love this little place. I'm a student, so I spent most of my time visiting small cafes to study and write papers. This is definitely an ideal place to have some breakfast and study. It can get a bit loud sometimes, but it doesn't really bother me. The employees are absolutely wonderful and check up on you to make sure you're doing okay. They offer blankets to those who choose to sit outside and if it's a bit chilly. I absolutely love it. The first time I was there, I ordered the mocha latte and it was good. However, I tried out their chai tea latte the second time and I absolutely fell in love. It's sweet, but not overly sweet either. It's basically the perfect companion if you choose to do some work there. I also tried the Wake Up #1 with sausage and that was also very delicious. The owner, Josie, came out to greet us and she shared that Rail Side Cafe has been open for about 9 months now. Josie and her son run the establishment. Josie stated that "This is a lot of fun. This is my retirement and I love it!" She also mentioned that enjoys growing her own tomatoes and basil in order to make their products taste their best. How cool is that?! Honestly this place had one of the worst breakfast ever. Not gonna lie everything was flavorless. I ordered the Wake Up with prosciutto and it was wayyy too salty and bland. This place has been open for a few months now and I wish I tried it sooner!! I should have taken pictures of my food because it was amazing. They customized my order since I'm so picky. So bonus points! I got the wake up #3 with eggs, sausage and mozzarella. It was perfect. Hot and fresh! We had two toddler with us and the staff made us scrambled eggs on the side for them. Bonus points again! They even brought it out with grapes and ketchup for them. I got the hot chai tea latte and it was the best one I've had in a long time. I'm very picky about my chai teas. Outdoor seating was great, the chairs were comfy. I love the dog bowl of water for neighborhood dogs on a stroll. Service was fantastic.
