New ownership took over and it just isn't the same. I'll admit the place is cleaner, tidier, and brighter. Service is still good. Just one of those places that you wished stayed the same, old school hole-in-the-wall. Food tastes good, but not as good as before. Overall it looks like new ownership raised the prices and the food went down slightly from great to good. And I'm talking both donuts and breakfast sandwiches. No free donut hole with purchase anymore! There are other donut places in the area so I'll guess I'll skip this one and visit those more often now. read more

A hidden gem in Chandler! Such a great selection, and fantastic customer service. I'm a sucker for a good old fashioned donut, as well as cake donuts, both were exceptional. Nice and dense without feeling heavy. Also, the croissant donuts are amazing! We also got the bacon egg and cheese croissant sandwich, I've coffee with boba and Thai tea with boba. Everything tasted great, and there were so many choices to choose from! The woman behind the counter was super friendly and helpful, the facility is clean and both workers were wearing face shields. Went here yesterday around 8:30 AM and there was so many donuts available to select. They had my favorite donut which is the maple old fashion and maple cake donut! This is the place to go if you're looking for a morning treat that won't slow you down. The donuts I got here are super fluffy and fresh, and does not have the grease overload problem like other donut shops. The staff was extremely nice and even gave me samples of their croissant donuts because I bought so much that day. I got the impression that they used their point of sale machine as a credit card processing terminal. They enter the price of each item into an old sharp cash register to get a total and then enter the total into a Clover terminal as a single customer charge. My receipt total was $18.20 for 1 custom charge, but in reality, I got 12 donuts, half of which were specialty donuts. Best donuts and croissant donuts in the east valley in my opinion. Bosa Donuts, Dunkin Donuts, and all the other chain shops got nothing on Rainbow. Everybody. I have a very important announcement to make. They have cronuts. [Exits stage] But seriously, Rainbow does have cronuts and I'm told they're the only ones in Arizona who have it. Please let me know if this isn't true cause I don't get out much and you have no idea how long I've been waiting for a cronut (it's not my fault that I follow a bunch of Instagram accounts that specialize in food porn and just when I forget what I'm missing out on, lo and behold, there's a picture of a cronut). The cronuts looked and tasted very much like a donut on the outside but true to it's name, were layered, chewy, basically like a croissant on the inside. Honestly, I don't know how I feel about it. However, I would not dismiss the idea of having a couple more cronuts before coming to a decision. :D Besides the cronuts, I made the trip out specifically to get the maple bacon donuts. Though Rainbow isn't the only place in the valley to have these, they are pretty darn cheap at $2 a piece. They definitely hit the spot if you like bacon and maple long johns but were a little on the greasy side. The red velvet and caramel cream were good too - I definitely enjoyed the red velvet crumble on top of the red velvet donut. Service was great, really, really friendly and though I love that they're open godawfully early at 4AM, they do close at 7PM - so great for bringing in treats for the office, but less great for my late night donut cravings. I was a little surprised when I stopped by on Sunday morning, that they didn't have more of the fancy donuts (cronuts, maple bacon, and the like) out but they were more than amply stocked on all the other donuts so a donut shortage is not what you should be worried about. What you should be worried about is eating too many of these cause they're so addictive, and also the sugar high you're going to have after cause these donuts are pretty darn sweet. read more

Now they don't open late or 24/7 like some other donut shops in the East Valley so lesson learned recently! Rainbow is owned by a very nice Cambodian family and Ley was nice enough to have a couple of Cronuts reserved and locked up in safe keeping when I called! The first time I had ever dropped by they only had PB cronut goodness but it had nooooo jelly so that had to change. I kindly requested a squirt of jelly to complete my cronut circle of life. Incredible donuts but it's been very frustrating trying to figure out their hours. Online it shows 4am-5pm. Today marks the third time I've showed up within those hours for the store to be closed. Today I showed up at 5:30am but a handwritten sign in the window says that they will open at 6 today. Last week I showed up at 3pm only to find the doors locked with no sign in the window. About a month ago I showed up at 6am to find the doors locked. The donuts are the best I've ever had but the store has to start keeping consistent hours or their customer base (like me) will become frustrated. If that means changing hours to show 6am-2pm everyday that's totally fine - but don't post hours that you rarely keep. read more
