Stopped by here for lunch after some ruthless shopping. We made a reservation at 12:30pm on the OpenTable app. I highly recommend making a reservation before coming because it does get crowded and the wait times are long. Luckily it is located inside the Ontario Mills mall so you can shop while you wait. But I preferred to have made a reservation and shop until then. I forgot our server's name, all I remember is he had a lot of arm tattoos and he was great and very attentive to our needs. He always refilled our drinks as well. Not to mention the drinks were free and we were not charged for them? Sounds like a sweet deal to me. The food was delicious. I tried the creole mac 'n' cheese and it was good. It filled me up quick. It was $22, not too bad for the cost and on top of free refills. I know they did their very best to make the restaurant look like a rainforest. They sure delivered with all the animal noises and sitting by the waterfall with the buff man holding a globe of the world. Every now and then you'll hear animal noises and the lights turn on and off to make you feel like you are in a rainforest. It has been a few years since I came to a Rainforest cafe. The last one I went to was the location in Downtown Disney, which unfortunately closed. So I can't speak on whether the Ontario location is better than Disney location or not as it had been many years and I don't recall. Overall, great experience. On our last day in SoCal for a quick trip, I passed by a Rainforest Cafe in Ontario Mills Mall that I wasn't expecting. The ones up in NorCal have all closed down so I was super excited that I got to relive my childhood memories of dining here. [[ Some Thoughts ]] 1.) Restaurant Vibe & Size Although there aren't many left, this restaurant brought me back to what I remember it was like when I was a kid. The restaurant is BIG, relatively clean, and the "rainforest show" played every 20-30 minutes which I always loved. Really hit the nostalgia factor in me. 2.) Food To be honest, the food wasn't that bad. You aren't going to get fine-dining, gourmet style food here but it's what I expected it to taste. I would say they are generous with their portion size and the food was well-seasoned and tasty. There is only one dish I would not order again and I'll give more details below. I think what could be off-putting is the price as each dish was quite expensive. I guess you are paying for the fun vibe of the restaurant which is included in the price. This is what we ordered: a.) Awesome Appetizer Adventure - $23.49 b.) Shrimp Tacos - $19.99 c.) Sparkling Volcano (Holiday Edition) - $18.99 DO NOT get the sparkling volcano. This use to be my favorite thing to get when I went and the modern day version is a big let down. The "sparklers" no longer actually sparkle and are just silver decorations which isn't as exciting. The brownies they gave us also seemed to be "old" as they were extremely hard and dry. I literally was whacking my spoon/fork in order to open it up since it was as hard as a rock! We ended up only eating all the ice cream and tried to eat the brownie but it was not satisfying. read more

Food was okay, they discontinued the plate my husba and I used to share, so we were pressed looking for something else. We tried the Pot Roast, and although it was okay, it was still pot roast. We ate, but had a great time with our granddaughters and a couple of their friends, as it was our granddaughter's birthday. We ordered the cake that had cake, brownie, frosting and ice cream with simulated sparkler. The dessert was enough to feed all the girls, and a few bites for the grandparents. We had the BEST SERVER LINDSAY we've ever had! She was so nice and helpful with the menu. I had the jungle steak with coconut shrimp and sautéed shrimp it was delicious. The girls had chicken Alfredo and they were happy. We love the atmosphere at rain forest cafe with the bird sounds and water noises! So fun! read more

We've been to this location a dozen times with our toddler daughter and love it. She requests the "forest restaurant" every so often so we make the 45 min drive and go. The food is good and prices are decent. We've had really good service here and we love the balloon artists that come around. It's a bit loud for some kids but our girl loves when the animals come alive! read more

Spinach artichoke dip appetizer came out cold and at the same time as the main course which was 'taste of the islands'. Fish was undercooked, when it was meant to be fully cooked. Tip: always make your first cut down the middle! My server when I told him took off but didn't say anything so I wasn't sure if my concern had been heard and acknowledged. We took our summer program here for a tour and lunch. Our hosts were Kaydance and Lindsay. Both were amazing! Kaydance bubbly personality is a huge plus. She was such a joy to be around. My little girl always loves going to see the crocodile outside the restaurant, so we decided to just go in and eat. Thankfully we made a reservation so being seated was not an issue. The service was also great. The gentleman that helped us was very attentive and accommodating. He also kept checking on us to make sure we were good. The atmosphere inside is pretty cool too if you're into animals and all the noises in there. The only thing that was a little bit of a miss was the most important, the food. I got their steak and shrimp. I asked for my steak medium rare and it could not have been any more well done. Unfortunately it was not edible so I did not eat it. The 3 different types of shrimp though were great. For my little one I got her the marinara pasta and it was cold. Thankfully we got the appetizer that has a little bit of everything so she ate some chicken tenders and fries. All in all it's a good place to go enjoy the rainstorm and all that fun stuff. This was a great place to celebrate my son's 8th grade graduation. We had a group of 14 and it worked out well. We placed a deposit ($100 at the time when I called) to reserve our date and time. While there they had someone going around doing group pictures at the tables that you can buy for $20 each and a wonderful lady who offers to do custom balloon animals. There was a little bit of a mix up at the end when it came time to pay our separate bills in our party but they took care of it. read more

Wow! I had not been to the rainforest Café in probably 15 to 20 years and I am re-impressed! The ambience is fabulous for young kids. My 4 year old grandson has some sensory issues with the sound so I covered his ears and he did great. They've got this adorable store when you enter and all kinds of animals, elephants monkeys, tigers & thunderstorms in the dining area. Super cool experience but on top of that, the food was better than I recalled, and our server Kaydence was the best! So attentive, cute and friendly! Thank you for taking great care of us. read more

We've been wanting to bring our 7 year old since she's never experienced Rainforest Cafe, we used to have one back home near south coast plaza as well as downtown Disney and we were sad when those locations closed! We have a Landry's select club card so we were seated right away! Our experience was delightful from the food to the host and our server's attention. My husband really enjoyed his pastalaya dish! Hoping my daughter will want to come back since she was a little spooked in the beginning with the animatronics but then she was okay! This was an unfortunate experience. The service here is not just slow, it's inexcusably neglectful. We came with my three kids for my son's fourth birthday on a Tuesday, typically the slowest night for any restaurant. It was not crowded. We had a reservation. From the time that we sat down until the time we had our drinks was 58 minutes. Literally an hour for two sprites, a milk, two mixed drinks, and a glass of wine. It was 90 minutes before my kids got their food. The adult's main entrees didn't come until long after the kids had finished eating and were asking about dessert. By that point, we couldn't make the kids sit and wait while we ate after a nearly two hour wait for a burger and a salad. They removed the two entrees from our bill, but I would have vastly preferred to have had it to eat during the meal. By the end, the charm of the decor had worn off. All three kids were cranky and ready to go. I understand they coast off their atmosphere, and they probably don't care if locals like my family come back, but I would say that they would have sold merch to all three of my kids if they didn't force us to sit over 90 minutes without food and an hour without a drink. On the way in, everyone was excited to explore the gift shop after. On the way out, we wanted to forget the experience and just get home. And they think they'll upsell us pictures to remember the awful dinner? The two tables to either side of us also had meals comped and were outraged. How often are they comping food for a total failure to bring it out? Look at these reviews. This is a known issue, and persists on a slow Tuesday. This is management's fault and they clearly are not going to do anything to rectify their lack of ability to run a restaurant. This is, quite literally, the worst organized I've ever seen in food service. I'm giving two stars for our poor waitress who deserves a better back of the house and better leadership and the balloon animal person, who was very talented. But this is a total failure of a restaurant and they are completely uninterested, despite the canned corporate response to every single Yelp review pointing out this issue, in improving. Do not patronize this place. I certainly never will. I have fond childhood memories of Rainforest cafe, and was excited to bring my son here for his birthday. But if this is what it has devolved into, it deserves to go out of business. read more

The food was terrible. I order the sirloin steak and shrimp. Then asked for a medium steak and got a burnt steak. All the food was so dry. My veggies and shrimps were overcooked. Second time my steak was redone. It was rare. The picture you see below is the third time. By this time I was done with all my food. All I had was the steak. My husband is a chef. He said then in less than 5 minutes they can't even throw the steak back on the grill. He said they microwave it and that's why it lost all of its juice. My husband order a pasta and it was so dry. He had to ask for extra sauce. Services wasn't great either. We waited forever for our food. I had to ask for a refill on my drink cause it sat at my table for more than 10 minutes without being refill. After I paid, I asked for a manager. Because I wanted to make sure that she knew this was the worst service and worst food I've ever ever had. I didn't want to say anything before because I don't need anything for free. When the manager came I realize she was the one that brought my steak back and I let her know that it was microwaved. Overall this was a waste of our money. I will never come back again. read more

Samson the balloon artist from Modern Twist Balloons made my daughter very happy. We enjoyed our time at the restaurant. It was fun.

We haven't been here in years but we shopped and decided to wait it out for a 2 hour and 10 min wait. It was all good except the food! Appetizers were cold. That I can handle but the taste was terrible. Then with mine I got a side salad and I could not even eat thats. All bad. But the waitress was fun and pleasant and the girl that blew up the balloons was amazing. So we went for the atmosphere. We will not be going back. I understand the wait it was mother day and a mall of a lot of people but it was not worth the food to eat at all! The rest of my party will and can agree plus most of them got an upset stomach. 5 of us. read more

When we arrived at the restaurant, the hostess was allegedly unable to find my Open Table Reservation, I immediately showed her and at that point she found it. We were then rushed to a table as I was explaining it was my 2 year old granddaughters first visit. Needless to say, the servicer Kat at our table 110/1 was horrible. She never offered drink refills, water etc. the sad part was my granddaughters pizza and fries were forgotten and Kat with no sense of urgency, even after seeing that all the group had food already, said she would check on the pizza. Sometime later the cold pizza and fries arrived. I asked to speak with the manager about about 10 to 15 min later a blond hair female with an attitude showed up asking what questions I had. I explained that I had no "questions" and at that point figured it was a waste of my time to even explain the situation, since she already displayed attitude. My question to the establishment, how do you allow negative reviews to be posted without making some adjustments. People dine out and expect quality food and service. Well I can tell you from my experience, RainForest offers none of the above. My donation of $135.00 will be my first and last, unless I see a change in management and service. I am really surprised that Landry's Inc. allows this type of service as it is not displayed at their other owned establishments I dine at frequently. read more

Went for my boyfriend's birthday! We haven't been since we were kids and just wanted to do something silly and fun! Drove over an hour to get there LOL but we had the best time and it was totally worth it! It's a place to not take seriously, give in to your child like wonder and go for it! A day not to look at the price of things, and honestly with all we ordered including the cups you get to take home with you (????) it was so not as expensive as we thought it was gonna be !!! What can I say? As someone who grew up loving Rainforest Cafe, I'm heartbroken to write this. It's gone downhill in a big way and I sadly understand why many locations are closing. My husband and I made a reservation to take my in laws and my brother in law. The server took everyone's order but mine. He said, "let me put this in and I'll be right back". But he didn't come back. It had been nearly 40 minutes and I realized that by the time I placed my order everyone else's would have already arrived. So I decided just to share with my husband. But here's the thing: no food ever came. Not even drinks! It's embarrassing when we've been sat for nearly an hour and my mother in law's piña colada still hasn't been served. The place wasn't even busy. We canceled our order and left. The ambience, as always, is spectacular. It just isn't enough to justify high prices and a complete lack of service. What a shame. Honestly, I realized during my visit this place just doesn't have the magic it once did. During my RIDICULOUSLY long wait for my meal, I had to continually remind myself, "We come for the VIBES not the food" to silence my rumbling stomach as I envied each passing plate. It felt strange to me that we had such a long wait to be seated and served when the restaurant itself was at maybe a quarter capacity? I understand the appeal is for the experience more than anything, but the wait for my mediocre food really just drained all the fun out of it. Used to come here for the rainforest ambiance and my nieces and nephew loved it. Probably due to covid or lack of staffing but it wasn't very crowded but everything was soooo slow - even w a VIP card, we were not called until 15-20 minutes after the estimated wait time, and the orders and food took over an hour. Appetizers came w the meal instead of in advance and we were starved. Don't come too hungry / be ready to wait! Food was ok. They don't have the vegetarian options they used to like the portabello mushroom sandwich or wrap. Only a salad. Got the fish tacos and they were ok.
