As a family we used to take our little ones to experience the restaurant for its whimsical jungle atmosphere. Thrilled they would anticipate the rain after thunder stroke, noises of wild animals would sound and we would look around to find them. A very special place in the city to simulate a kind of Jungle Book Disney style . We all grew up and reminisced about the experiences we all had being somewhere else atmosphere, but food was the last thought it came to our minds. I had the opportunity to return to the jungle restaurant, we sat at the bar because it was a 50 minute wait; we called prior to make reservations and we were told no reservation were taken just come and wait. So expect to wait to be seated on their time. I was surprised with the seafood plate. Large enough, tasty and seafood was excellent- I shared my plate and I was satisfied. The fish tacos were surprisingly large pieces of breaded fish. The bar is a quick way to eat and go not if you want to expect the jungle atmosphere. Good food- our bartender was excellent, he returned often to check if we had all we needed. We only had non alcoholic drinks, but saw many tropical concoctions. . I would recommend the restaurant for the experience. Rainforest Cafe has limited franchises so go before this one also disappears. A+ read more

What can I say? As someone who grew up loving Rainforest Cafe, I'm heartbroken to write this. It's gone downhill in a big way and I sadly understand why many locations are closing. My husband and I made a reservation to take my in laws and my brother in law. The server took everyone's order but mine. He said, "let me put this in and I'll be right back". But he didn't come back. It had been nearly 40 minutes and I realized that by the time I placed my order everyone else's would have already arrived. So I decided just to share with my husband. But here's the thing: no food ever came. Not even drinks! It's embarrassing when we've been sat for nearly an hour and my mother in law's piña colada still hasn't been served. The place wasn't even busy. We canceled our order and left. The ambience, as always, is spectacular. It just isn't enough to justify high prices and a complete lack of service. What a shame. Experience with take-out: I went here because I had a $25 reward from Landry's. I saw the prices on the menu and was shocked that I wouldn't be able to get much with that money, so I was expecting to be disappointed (especially after seeing reviews). However, I was actually quite impressed with the food! The pastalaya was really good and worth getting again! I also got the caribbean rice as a side. It was nice (black beans in it), but nothing worth getting again. Cobb salad was pretty good. I went back another time with another $25 voucher and got the fish tacos and they were SO good! This experience was my first time eating here! My husband and I shared once of their flatbread appetizers, the Rasta Pasta (SO GOOD!) and my husband enjoyed their new pesto chicken sandwich! Least to say we were pleased with the food! Although the food and experience was enjoyable, half of the wonderful experience was because of our amazing server Maria! She was attentive and so sweet! This review is based solely on the Bar area this time. Husband friends and I sat at the bar and had a few drinks before going out for the night. Husband and I had the blue Nile and the Strawberry Daiquiri and they were so good! The daiquiri could have used a bit more blending but it was still really good! Also, you get to keep the souvenir cup which was pretty cool because my friends are from Texas and they got to take it with them. Our bar hosts were really sweet and nice. When we were getting ready to leave we realized they only put us town for 1 drink, so we didn't get to keep our both our glasses, but Steve fixed it right up for us and told us just take this receipt to the souvenir shop and tell them I sent you. It was our fault we didn't put you down for 4 drinks. So that was really great. We didn't have food this time around but food never disappoints so I'm happy with the visit! read more

Went for my boyfriend's birthday! We haven't been since we were kids and just wanted to do something silly and fun! Drove over an hour to get there LOL but we had the best time and it was totally worth it! It's a place to not take seriously, give in to your child like wonder and go for it! A day not to look at the price of things, and honestly with all we ordered including the cups you get to take home with you (????) it was so not as expensive as we thought it was gonna be !!! And have leftovers for a late night snack! We didn't even know there was options to take the cool cups home but our amazing waiter Germaine let us know. I hardly ever frequent restaurants with 2.5 stars but my child really wanted to go. We waited about 40 minutes before being called. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They sat us by the water fountain. There was a good vibe and the place was lively. For food we ordered a sirloin steak,Rasta pasta and a kids Mac n cheese. My steak was actually pretty juicy. Not bad at all. The Rasta pasta was solid. My child finished abs enjoyed her macaroni and cheese. I even had a couple beers. My only complaint was the prices. How can someone born in the 90's not be excited to come here? My daughters Nina took us out for a late bday dinner for my 12 year old and it was so adorable. This is the last one open in California and I never visited the one they had at downtown Disney. The rain, thunder, lightening and animal noises were such a fun touch. My daughter got the animal themed jug (such a classic touch). The food was okay, I ordered the cajun pasta and it definitely reminded me of meals in a bag pasta in the frozen food section lol. My daughter got the steak and it also didnt look to amazing (she enjoyed it though). But what I found annoying was we were seated next to a family celebrating a birthday and this grown man got a 10 person song with balloon hat and the whole shebang. 2.5 stars The food was super mediocre. I ordered the awesome appetizer platter that came with cheesesteaks, chicken fingers, spinach dip, and a southwest eggroll. The eggroll seemed over cooked and a bit oily. The cheese sticks has zero flavor and minimal cheese. The spinach dip wasn't too bad the chicken tenders were the best to me . To drink I ordered some type of smoothie that was like a piña colada. I was like banana and I loved it. That was the best part. My husband ordered the fish and chips and he said that they were just OK. The fries didn't taste fresh to me. The restroom was a mess and it was very humid in there. I'm not sure if they didn't have the AC on or what but I was uncomfortable in there soon as I walked in. Overall, I get it you come here for the experience, but don't expect anything out of the food. Really fun trip for the kids/family. They have a gift shop attached. This really is a tourist attraction though and not a fancy restaurant to eat at. Service usually is very slow. I am sure they are busy, but it took about 45 minutes for us to get our drinks last time and its usually at least 20-30 minutes. (we had to ask the manager about our drinks as they brought our food. My kids really enjoy coming here (obviously), and the portions, etc. for the kids are pretty good especially for the price. I would say that most of the "non-children" entrees are a disappointment. My wife and I have gotten to the point that we just share an appetizer and get some drinks (which actually are reasonably priced). Needless to say, I will be returning, but I will bring snacks for my kids (because the service is slow) and I will not personally be super hungry and I'll just have a drink or dessert. read more

We were super excited to try this restaurant as I when I go to the mall with my kids they love seeing outside I made a reservation for 4 @ 6pm I was seated right away even tho I did arrive a bit early I was happy and honestly my kids loved the inside and they loved to ballon lady and server was awesome but what I was dissatisfied was I went there to celebrate my daughter's birthday which I stated in the reservation but no one ever came to sing to her which I got over since they were enjoying it but today all day I have been sick with FOOD poisoning!!!!!!! I've eaten here once a very long time ago and today remembered why I never went back! I didn't really have a choice today because it was my youngests son's birthday and this is what he had chosen to eat at. The food is absolutely tasteless and terrible quality without outrageous prices. You get very little portions and can tell nothing comes freshly prepared and made. I'm pretty sure everything comes packaged frozen. Tasted like cheap cafeteria food. Even the desserts tasted like they were bought from a grocery store. This meal right here costs me a good $40. Honestly, I realized during my visit this place just doesn't have the magic it once did. During my RIDICULOUSLY long wait for my meal, I had to continually remind myself, "We come for the VIBES not the food" to silence my rumbling stomach as I envied each passing plate. For my sons birthday weekend, my bff's husband wanted to take my son here since the last time he went to a Rainforest Cafe was like 9 yrs ago and in San Francisco (which is closed now). My son loves animals and is really into nature, so this was a perfect place for him ambiance wise. We came on a Saturday, so the place was packed and booked for the entire night (we arrived around 6:45pm). The waitlist was full as well, so we were put on the standby list and if someone cancels or doesn't show, they will text us. My son really wanted to try out Rainforest Cafe, so we walked around the mall, had some snacks and drinks and waited to see if they would give us a call. Around 8:30pm, they texted us to let us know that a party on the waitlist was a no show, so we were able to get seated. Location & Parking 3/5: The mall can get pretty crowded, especially since Rainforest Cafe is near Dave and Busters; so parking can really vary depending where you park. We had to walk 0.4 miles (my bff counted how much miles we walked on her watch LOL) from our parking to the restaurant. Atmosphere & Ambience 5/5: My son (age 10) and godson (age 7) LOVED the ambiance of this place! There's foliage and animatronic animals everywhere you turn. I do like how they have the thunder sounds and lightning, however, we were hoping the "lightning" would stay a little longer since the booth we were at was a little dark. Service 4.5/5: Our waitress was good, however, there were a couple times when we could have gotten our water refilled sooner. For my sons birthday, they brought him out a cupcake with a candle and sang to him. Food 3/5: The food wasn't bad, but for the price you pay, it wasn't worth it. When coming to dine here, it's more for the ambiance of the place and for kids to enjoy. If you're coming here just for the food or a date, I would suggest going somewhere else. Plenty of parking available most of the time. Entry level six of Ontario mills mall. Turn right as you go in and you won't miss it. Tropical forest set up will catch your eyes right away. From the so real mechanical crocodile with how it makes it's growls as it open its mouth and serpent above entrance to African and Asian elephants, gorillas, birds , lizards and many more animals on display. Good display and selection of stuff animals and toys at toy store. It's an amazing experience especially for kids. Chicken plate appetizer with cheese sticks, chips with spinach artichoke dip and chimichacha roll was good. Barbecue bacon cheese burger was delicious. Staff were friendly especially our server Tim (if I remember correctly). Plenty of other food to choose from their menu. Atmosphere is very family oriented. We came here On a Wednesday afternoon, the place was lonely and we were seated Promptly. This is the last rainforest cafe in southern Cali, I loved this place back when my kids (who are adults now) were growing up, its a shame that there is only one left. The place was clean and nice, the decor was a bit on the "needs some TLC side" but still very impressive. There were very few waiters/waitresses working as it took a bit to get our order going. Our server, Linda was very nice and polite and very helpful and patient when taking our order. She made some suggestions that were very informative and helpful since I have not been here in a while. The prices are a bit steep BUT. The portions are very hefty. We ordered the chicken and ribs with fries and it was enough to feed 2 of us. The ribs were like 1/2 rack (see attached picture) and filled me up. My wife had the chicken and she was not able to finish it. I also had a modelo on tap, it came with a free glass. The burgers were also a decent portion (my kid had that) and she did not finish it all. The taste was very good, not like chillies or apple bees (although I get those type of vibes when I go to these type of food restaurants). Overall it is a place I would visit again, maybe not every week due to the high food prices but certainly on special occasions. Yesterday, my family and friends had the pleasure of being sat with Larry. He was attentive and helpful when making choices involving the menu. Sierra came by and checked in while we were waiting to ensure we were having a good experience, and offered suggestions regarding the menu as well. The food was good, and the overall staff atmosphere was very welcoming. The balloon artist, Morgan, came over to make a balloon for my daughter and was kind during the whole interaction. We made reservations for a party of 6, 5 adults, 1child for 7:30pm. We got in and were seated with about a 15 minute wait time. Our waitress came right over to take our drink & food order. We got our appetizer but waited approximately 45 minutes for our food. We had mixed reviews on the food. The fish & shrimp was good but the steak, rib, & shrimp trio, the ribs were tough. The chicken fried chicken was tough & the gravy in the side was too thin. Once we finished eating we waited another 30 minutes for our check & I had to stopped our waitress to pay the bill. Overall I would not recommend this restaurant. They had 12+ wait staff on the floor, other tables that were seated after my party not only received their food but also left before we finished eating. Overall an amazing and unforgettable experience! Our group of four made the pilgrimage to re-live our romanticized millennial childhoods of dining at The Rainforest Cafe and it still holds up. The charming animatronic wildlife, the shining fountain, the symphony of animal calls, and the spontaneous thunderstorms create a magic unlike any other restaurant. The food and drink are 11/10. The staff were polite and knowledgeable. Our waitress gave above average recommendations on cocktails and pasta. I had the Vegan Beyond Burger with Safari fries and a Panama Punch cocktail and yeah, I kept that souvenir glass to remember my 'Best Day Ever.' Don't pass up on this gem of peak dining innovation; you won't regret it. That being said, we did have to wait a very long time to be seated; just about 2 hours. My little girl always loves going to see the crocodile outside the restaurant, so we decided to just go in and eat. Thankfully we made a reservation so being seated was not an issue. The service was also great. The gentleman that helped us was very attentive and accommodating. He also kept checking on us to make sure we were good. The atmosphere inside is pretty cool too if you're into animals and all the noises in there. The only thing that was a little bit of a miss was the most important, the food. I got their steak and shrimp. I asked for my steak medium rare and it could not have been any more well done. Unfortunately it was not edible so I did not eat it. The 3 different types of shrimp though were great. For my little one I got her the marinara pasta and it was cold. Thankfully we got the appetizer that has a little bit of everything so she ate some chicken tenders and fries. All in all it's a good place to go enjoy the rainstorm and all that fun stuff. A big shout out to Audrey. For brig so nice. I went to shop at the Ontario mills and decided to go eat at rainforest. it's a shame that we don't have one close by in Whittier. I bought four souvenir glass cups. I was told they had ran out of paper & they did not have any bubble wraps or boxes to put them in. I became a spectacle, but decided to just put them inside the bag. It was a long, drive home & I have no choice but to put the glass cups inside my shopping bag. When I got home, I discovered two out if the four glass cups were broken. I was so sad but immediately call the restaurant Audrey, who answer the phone took care of me. She got all my information and told me she would ship me two glass cups to my home a week after she called me to follow up and told me they were on their way two weeks later. I got my cups they were replace. I was so happy. I called to thank her but it was her day off. I decided to come here and Yelp and thank her thank her, for her generosity and kindness shout out to the Rainbow Forest Café for hiring such amazing people like Audrey. I have to start by saying that the host, Audrey, was absolutely wonderful. If I owned a restaurant (or any business) I'd want her to work for me and interact directly with the customers. I placed a phone order (with another nice employee) and Audrey called me back to ask which temperature I wanted the burgers cooked. When I arrived, she was so friendly, warm, and efficient. My order was correct, utensils and hand wipes were in the bag, and it was ready to go when I arrived. I really don't like going to Ontario Mills much, but with service like this, it made it easy and worth the small hassle. Customer service is so very important--on the phone and in person. When they open up for in-person dining, I'm definitely going back. I hope all the employees provide such a great customer experience. read more

There is a ton of nostalgia here. We decided to take our kiddos here for that reason, I mean it's a rain forest with animals they'd have to love it right? I was so wrong. The place is exactly as I remember it, animatronic animals, faux plants and cued thunderstorm. Nothing has been upgraded in over 15 years or at least doesn't appear to have. The dinning area is dark and kinda sticky. The restrooms were exceptionally clean, for whatever that's worth. The service started off very well. We generally order our kids food with our drinks - it's help keep everyone one calm and gets them fed before they get restless. All was going well and then it wasn't. Drinks ran dry, nearly 20 minutes passed and no service in sight. Food finally arrived and was lackluster. I ordered the club sandwich with a salad, it was about the same as something you could make at home. The salad was okay. Again nothing amazing but it was only a club sandwich so I wasn't expecting spectacular. My husband ordered the sample platter. He said it was okay. The spinach dip had an off flavor but was edible. The egg rolls were kinda soggy, I'm also not a fan of black beans and corn so I'm defiantly biased. All the other fried fare was passable bar food. Our kids enjoyed the mac n cheese and pizza. The part I thought would wow them, the animals and rainstorms is actually the worst part. Maybe it's there age (2&4 yo) but they were terrified. Overall this is probably not somewhere we'll plan to return too. Service was poor, food was mediocre and environment was overstimulating. And one more thing and this is just because it was super irritating - who fills a cup with ice to the top and then adds the soda? The cups ran dry a few times after getting our food mostly because it was nearly filled with ice upon arriving.
