This was my first time visiting a Rainforest Cafe, and I was impressed with the decor and animated figures. It's a neat place that I believe children enjoy, as well as adults. The onion rings appetizer is great. The service could be improved. I felt like an extra table that wasn't part of the server's responsibility. Also, the bartender was extremely pushy with encouraging me to order a beverage. It was uncomfortable. The person I was with was able to get the bartender to leave me alone. read more

The atmosphere is really cool for the kids. It is very overpriced for the quality and amount of food that you get. The kids meals were way too expensive. This place is always great for kids. I have a 12 year old that still loves to go here. This time we went o a Saturday and I don't know what was going on but we signed up and there was a 1 and 45 min wait. we still put our names on the list since they said they would text us when our table was ready. we decided to walk around the river walk to kill some time. well low and behold 1 hour and 15 mins we got the text well actually it was closer to 1 hour and 3 mins we missed the first text. anyhow I would recomend that you stay close by it took about 12 mins between the missed text and time to get back and they gave our table away :( we ended up having to wait an extra 20 mins. but it was mostly our fault for not hearing the first text. one thing to keep in mind when you eat here is it is pricey so be prepared. Be advised that there is no handicap access to this restaurant. Disabled people must be able to navigate the crowded river walk to enter through the regular entrance. In theory, there is a door at street level, with a Rain Forest Cafe logo above it, where a disabled person can be dropped off, with a door and a buzzer for handicap entrance. However, when we tried this, it took a good twenty minutes for someone to answer, at which time we were told that there was no elevator to get down to the restaurant. This turned out to be a lie, when my nephew personally rode up the elevator after going in search of a way for my elderly mother to gain entrance. At this point, though, we were told that the elevator didn't go down (!). After more arguing, it became clear that restaurant personnel were not going to allow access through the supposed "handicap" entrance and we left in disgust to go to a different, accessible, restaurant. An Americans with Disabilities Act complaint will be filed. read more

Took my grandkids for lunch and they had a Great time! The menu was diverse and a little on the pricey side. The ambiance was fantastic! It really does look like a rainforest inside. Meh. My 1st pc of advice is to get there super early to get your name on the list. We had a 2 hr wait for lunch and didn't get called back until 3 hrs later. With several tables open, I asked the waitress if this was a covid thing & she replied that they just don't have enough staff. The food was nothing to write hm about. Food was average however, I ordered the omelette which came with 2 sides and &.50 per each additional item. When I got the bill I was charged for all 4 sides I ordered. I then asked for the menu to review to make sure I read it correctly. The waiter Moses was helpful however the manager Miriam refused to come down and address the issue because she was busy. I waited at least 15 and advised Moses if she is too busy that's fine I'll just write a review all to have $1 removed from my bill so we could leave. Unbelievably disrespectful to my time and you system error. If you've eaten there this weekend (Feb. 10-11) you may want to check you bill to make sure you were not over charged. It may just be a dollar but add up how many were over charged? Hey it could have easily been an additional $1k as many people were here for Mardi Gras weekend. read more

"Three hour wait" that was 45 minutes, seemingly a ploy to make people not want to eat there which is the better option. Very dry not tasty food that is way over priced. Our server did the minimum required to get us food and a drink. There was a host on the third floor, a bald man I don't recall his name, who was the only friendly person there. Very loud and dusty inside. Suggested to friends not to go. Dine and drink among animals in the rainforest. Okay, not real animals and not a real rain forest but darn close enough! When the lion roars, you can feel the vibration and the lion literrally coming to life (or so). It is so much fun as an adult experiencing this, what about a kid! Wear your imagination and this chain establishment becomes an adventure. Been to others all over California, Florida, and Las Vegas MGM (now closed) etc. but for some reason this one in San Antonio is the best! Perhaps dining and drinking adult beverages with a bunch friends made during a conference had alot to do with it too. Kona our server was so amazing. She put up with all our craziness, animal-like behavior (loud laughter and strange behaviors like climbing and laying on the table) so fitting of the place and she passed no judgement and just played along with us. Actually so did the rest of the animal tamers (service crew). Granted we were the only ones at that section of the rainforest, pretty far away from other tables where families and children beckoned. Menu shows off numerous selections of entrees from pastas, burgers, salads, soup, meats, seafood, appetizers and desserts. We all agreed it was "good" and the prices were super reasonable. Must try at least once, rowdy group or family with kids, it's an unforgettable experience. Was told that my card I bought for $25 would shorten our waitlist, but have currently been waiting longer than told we would be without spending $25. All the same complaints as everyone else and if you notice, you get the same impersonal caned answer from Jason the business manager asking to log into a link to waste time with more feedback that obviously doesn't change anything. The Rainforest Cafe is one of our favorites restaurants to visit when we travel, one of the highlights for us and our kids. The visit here was more than great, it was Disappointing. Of course wait is always a thing at these locations however today we waited an hour to find out the whole second level was empty and there was plenty of open tables on the third level. Ok, short staffed it happens, but really you are in prime location (Riverwalk) you gotta get it together. Now to the food. What in the world is going on with your cooks. Food was cold, from the appetizers, soup, and kids meal. The Awesome appetizer was FAR from awesome, which we got two of and half of it was not even edible, kids burgers (I wouldn't even want to eat it), my mom's soup would of been great but it was cold, why? I realize it is spring break but seriously!!!! Put our name in at 8 pm with a guy who never bothered to look up from his cell. Told we would have an hour to an hour and 15 minute wait. Finally got our table almost 2 hours later. Host said he would bring a kids menu.....never happened. Asked for lemons in the water and the server got it half right with lemon in 2 of the 4 waters! Medium rare steak was actually well done and the rotisserie chicken was dry and tough. All in all a very poor experience. read more

We wanted to go somewhere fun with the kids for spring break. They don't allow reservations for spring break so we had a hour and half wait. Once we were seated there were planets of empty tables. There was no reason to have that long of a wait. The food was terrible. I ordered the Jungle Steak and Shrimp. It was one of the toughest steaks I have been severed, and the portion was measly. My son ordered the fried shrimp. The shrimp were poor quality, some fried with the legs still on and the flavor was off as well. Overall it was the lowlight of our Riverwalk experience. I am giving this place a three for the people that work here. The food is what you would expect from a chain, nothing special, childish names for all menu items. I do not appreciate the annoying sales pitch for Landry's loyalty club, telling us how much we will save the next time we come in, (don't assume there will be a next time) because we will be spending more than $200. Ouch, for this! How about my water I waited more than ten minutes for, while everyone else got their water and drink. Our server Lauren was a sweet girl but scattered. It was very busy and a long wait, our 1 hour wait was really 2 hours, New Years Eve, we were a large mixed ages group. I wish I got the name of the young man who was so kind to my grandson, he and another staff member recognized he was overwhelmed and came to the rescue in calming him. I've been to many rainforest cafe's and always had a great experience. However this place is by far probably the worst location I've ever been too. The wait for a table was not too bad only about 20 minutes. Once we were seated we ordered just 4 waters which took about 15 more minutes. We hurried and ordered our food then before the waitress could walk away. After 45 additional minutes finally the food arrives and of course my Order was completely wrong. I ended up not eating because I didn't have another hour to spare while they corrected the mistake. The waitress informed me it was the kitchens fault. My family will definitely not be going back. Also being a Landry's cardholder made no difference here. The lady at the front was rude when I informed her she rolled her eyes and said ok whatever. read more

We went to the Rainforest Cafe. Initially, we had to wait about 50 minutes despite getting there at 5pm. However, the wait for the food wasn't too bad. If you are looking for a quiet meal, this isn't the place. The "forest" thunders periodically as if it's going to storm and then the various animals make their noise. I was sitting next to the elephant. We were with a large group and we all had fun looking at the decorations and fish tank. The food was pricey, but was good for a 1 time event. I had friends visiting San Antonio for their first time this past weekend. i only had the time to meet up with them on sunday night- so i told them to choose where they'd like to eat. My friends girlfriend mentioned that she had wanted to try Rainforest Cafe. We enter the front door and we were greeted by two workers; one a male with longer hair and one a female. i did notice that they closed at 10 and we walked in at about 9:15 (I'm in the service industry so i know how this feels) but they looked at us and spoke to us like we were inconveiniancing them and we had walked in 5 mins to close. we didn't. we just wanted a cool touristy fun place to eat THIS APPARENTLY WASNT IT!! They asked finally how many were in our party and we responded,4 , can we just have a seat at the bar? they then told us that the bar was shutting down so they didn't know if the bartender would accept us sitting there. so with no options left we chose to wait 15 mins for the dining room. We then asked if we could just get a drink while waiting for our table and they didn't know what to say to us. in the end NO drink at the bar. THEN were told to go up to the 3rd floor to be seated, we get to the top of the steps and we were greeted by two more females with long faces - like their lives were miserable. i proceeded to ask if a manager worked there by the name of Martin and they both just stared at me like i was an idiot so i said OK never mind! we get to the table and the server was an older female, not too old, just a little older than the others working there. we were sat in the corner near the fish tank. she then rushed us to order our drinks as soon as we sat down "because the bar is about to close". my friends girlfriend- who's birthday it was mind you- wanted to order one of the special drinks on the menu and our server immediately barked at her "is that frozen, because if its frozen were not making any of those for tonight" ok so i also know how it is to be a bartender and how its annoying when people order frozen drinks, BUT y'all weren't busy and I'm sure she could have taken the 2 minutes out of her time to make one. also how were we supposed to know if it was frozen- aren't you the server??? after this we order food, my friends salad was missing and our server didn't even notice, we had to tell her that there was no plate in front of him!! like what?? the food was pretty gross and the service was HORRIBLE. oh and meanwhile, waiting for food- there was another employee, a male, running by our table multiple times rapping "all i get is money etc." do you really think this was an enjoyable experience at all? NO i was told not to complain at the table then and there because the other people at the table didn't want to be embarrassed. being a manager in the service industry i would HATE to read a review like this. i believe your employees need to be taught how to speak to guests and be welcoming. or else no one will come back, ever! i won't be bac k and i probably will never waist my time going to a different location either. One day we might outgrow this place, but I can't imagine when that might be. There are 3 generations of us going here everytime we hit San Antonio. We love it. Is the food anything special? Not really...except that volcano dessert makes quite an impression. Is it expensive? For all the fun it is to eat there, I think prices are inline. Afterall...we aren't real big on throwing money away, yet feel it is worth it to come to the RFC every visit. I would suggest getting a reservation (I usually walk right up and get lucky, but the place is busy) . I would also suggest requesting a table near aquarium....the wait for a good seat is worth the fascination of the young kids...well us older kids, too, I have to admit. They have quite a few vegetarian options and I have found that if I see something on the menu that I really want, they often have ways to make it vegetarian. They will take any of their burgers and make them veggie style. Love this place and recommend to most. There are some friends of mine that would be a bit too snooty to eat here...but those that have taken my advice are glad that they did (at least that is what they tell me)! This three story restaurant is down on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. It's the normal Rainforest decor which is fun and unique among franchise restaurants. The service was attentive and helpful. The staff were through when cleaning up after large parties, moving chairs around to make sure they swept up but of dropped food. I ordered 'Taste of the Islands' from the Yucatan menu. The fish was excellent, the shrimp were a little dry and the cheese sauce was so-so. The vegetables were well cooked, but my mixed vegetables were about 80% cauliflower. This was not my favorite thing on the menu and I will probably not order this again. I love their burgers, and would probably order this the next time I go. I don't live in San Antonio, but I would definitely come to this location again the next time I'm here. Thank you! read more

Mother's Day weekend and thank goodness I joined the wait list on Yelp! Only had to wait 15 mins after checking in. Our server/safari guide Osheen was wonderful and attentive to my son and I. Kids menu is good, general kid menu choices. I got my son the poppin shrimp and they were pretty good, the portion was nice. I got the shrimp tacos and I was impressed with the amount of food and flavor that was packed in each taco; the Black beans however, were almost room temperature. He food all around was good but could have come out hotter. The tribal dessert was good... not sure why it's called tribal though lol ... had to update my review the restrooms on the 3rd floor (not sure if there are more) were disgusting. I read all the 2 star reviews and set my expectations for a long wait. It did take 30 minutes for our "10-15 minute" wait for a table. Moments after being seated we had a waitress take our drink and food order. We had already studied the menu. Drinks came 5 minutes later. Food 15 minutes after that. Food was good, not great. Way over priced, but the animal stuff made the kids go wild every time they went off. 5/5 Worth a visit for the benefit of the kids. 2/5 for adults.
