Everyone who took care of us here made us feel important. Our hostess asked us what events were going on for us, so they could accommodate our timeline. Our server asked about food allergies. All our main food arrived exactly at the same time (3 people brought it all out.) This is a fancy restaurant but you could make a full meal from the Happy Hour menu and not spend a ton. I'll be back.

The location is on the Travis Park Square inside the St. Anthony Hotel. The staff was very nice and helpful. The decor is amazing. The food was good. Yet, if I am going to pay $75 for one person, I expect to be wow'd. The Al Pastor is a very large bone in pork chop that I expected a deeper grilled flavor. The pineapple onion mix on top was tasty and unique. The grits were cooked perfectly but missed a depth of flavor that grits should have in a dish like this. The avocado salad was a little too much lime but a solid idea. The banana creme dessert is that .. cream not pudding. I really did enjoy that the bananas were blended into the cream. I was disappointed that they had no decaf coffee at 7PM at night. There were a few more items on the menu that looked interesting... I will try again.

I'm visiting town for a work trip and was looking for a place for dinner on my last night. This was one of the newer establishments and also had higher ratings so I decided to give it a try. It's tucked away in the St Anthony Hotel -- it has a darker and sleek aesthetic. I was able to walk in and get a table without a reservation. I ordered the Smoked Seafood Crudo, Peppers and Cactus, and Red Fish. Everything was delicious. I will say the Crudo was a smaller serving but very tasty. The red fish was cooked perfectly and extremely flavorful, I'd return to the restaurant for that dish alone. When I visit san Antonio again, I'll be back!

Took my daughter there and we both loved it! The ambiance is beautiful and great for a date night. The flavors were bold, tangy, meaty everything you could think when you infused Latin and Asian cuisine together. We ordered the beet salad, kimchi pot and the pork and apple dish. The staff was delightful! Would surely go again.

The service was impeccable, we absolutely loved our evening with nico he was knowledgeable in the menu & gave such great recommendations. The ambiance was something out of a movie; we walked in stunned by the elegance. The crudo was my favorite item of the night, but nothing we had was bad by any means!

What a beautiful new restaurant -- and what an incredible makeover! Chef Leo has created a fantastic menu with truly memorable entrées. We loved everything we tried, especially the peppers and cactus appetizer (shishito peppers con chorizo), the masa dumplings, the duck and flower dish, and the kimchi stone pot-- all absolutely phenomenal. The ambience is stunning, the cocktails are wonderful, and the service was excellent from start to finish. This place hits every mark. We will definitely be back and will be recommending it to all of our friends. Five stars all the way!

Wonderful restaurant with a great vibe. All the entrees are gluten free and awesome! Tacos were great as appetizer! Great drinks and service was spot on! Highly recommend and will be on our repeat local restaurants!

I had really low expectations for this restaurant because I feel as though most "fancy" restaurants in SA are missing the cohesiveness that other big-city "fancy" restaurants have. There's certain elements I look for in terms of service, food quality, and overall experience when the price point is that high. For example, the glasses they use for water are lovely to look at, but it makes it difficult for the waiter to see when a glass is empty. I would expect my water to be always at least half-filled but it ran empty a couple times without the waiter noticing when she checked up on us. The duck was good, but I wasn't blown away by the flavors. The temperature of the dish was also a bit on the lukewarm side and felt like I was eating room temperature food. The best part of the experience was the decor and the building layout itself; it had Asian x Spanish villa vibes that was carried out perfectly.

We truly enjoyed our first visit to Esencia! From the friendly team that greeted us at the hostess stand, to our amazing server Jenna, we felt completely at home in this beautiful new restaurant. They've done an amazing job transforming the place into a truly Spanish stunner that is modern yet timeless.... The food .. amazing ! So many unique flavors that were so well thought out. The Asian Mexican fusion is definitely working. Loved the beet carpaccio, the beef and broccoli , peppers and cactus , and the SHRIMP TOAST!!! The drinks were perfect ... highly recommend this great place inside the St. Anthony hotel .

Amazing. One of the best restaurants San Antonio has to offer. I ate there last night and I have only great things to say. Great service, Jena was nice and knowledgeable of the menu and answered any questions I had. The restaurant was warm and inviting. And the food, top notch. You can't go wrong with anything you order. But I recommend, Pepper and Cactus and Smoked Seafood Crudo to start off. And Al Pastor and Carne Asada for entrees. For dessert, Churro Bread Pudding. Everything 10/10! I'm already planning to eat there again!

Our server Nico was exceptional, he had so much great input on every dish and helped guide us through both the food and drink menu. He was so nice and helpful through our dinner experience. He had a great attitude! Our food was amazing, truly I have no complaints. I would definitely request Nico as my server time and time again. 10/10

For a starter we shared the cornbread with another couple and it was plenty for 4 people. If you are from out of town and looking for some Texas-shaped vittles or just want something substantial to stretch your meal I recommend it! Very tasty and filling. For my main I had the scallops with creamed corn risotto. It was a dainty portion but the flavors were nice. My husband had the short rib tagliatelle which he loved. It was very rich and filling. We had the buttermilk pie again for dessert and this time it tasted sweeter than I remembered. It was good but we couldn't finish it. Idk if it was my tastebuds or if it was different. Anyways still a great meal overall and we will be back!

Checked Yelp for dinner suggestions so Doc drove us to the paid lot next to where all the Cinderella lit up carriages drawn by horses were lined up. It seemed the boats going up and down the River portion of the Walk were busier. While we were walking I had my eyes open for a table with a view. We stopped at Four Brothers. The receptionist went over suggestions on the menu on her outdoor podium. Cornbread in the shape of Texas, shareable items like Dino ribs for $82, plus Pork Shank and ice tea completed our order. Everyone was very friendly. We had an exceptional view and we had more than enough food that we had to ask for take out boxes. My favorite was the Mac & cheese though I'm usually not a fan. This dish used cork screw shaped pasta and it was moist and not stuck together. I had to share a photo of it with Sweetie who is in Tokyo right now. Doc liked the pimento for the cornbread. As it was almost 9 pm we decided to pass on the boat ride but just walk on the other side with shops and more eateries. We're back on the road again tomorrow to Arizona.

Update to first review below, rating updated from a 3 to a 5 star (drinks & bartender would get 10+…read morestars if we could rate that high): Saturday night: Went back for after dinner drinks at the Downstairs (a "speakeasy" throwback, look up the history of the place to see why). Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks. (See update above to this review for when we returned the next night for after dinner drinks.)

We were given the option of waiting about 15 minutes for a table or sitting in the bar area, so we chose one of the high-top tables in the bar. The café itself is very cute and has a charming atmosphere. The bar area has red neon lighting along the ceiling, which gives the room a distinctive glow. After ordering coffee and waters, we decided on the fried mushrooms, the meatloaf plate, and the Breakfast Pile. They never ended up refilling any of our drinks. The fried mushrooms came out first and were piping hot. They were served with both white gravy and ranch. The ranch was pretty tasty, but the mushrooms themselves were fairly bland and quite greasy. To be fair, deep-fried mushrooms aren't exactly a light dish, but I found myself adding salt to everything to bring out more flavor. For my entrée, I ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans. The meatloaf contained carrots, which was an interesting touch. The slices were very thick and firm, and honestly didn't resemble or taste like a traditional meatloaf. I asked for the gravy on the side and ended up dipping each bite into it, but the dish still wasn't my favorite. The green beans were the biggest miss for me. They had a mucky flavor that reminded me of mop water. The Breakfast Pile was decent enough: potatoes, sausage, eggs, and gravy layered together. Unfortunately, it also felt underseasoned and could have benefited from more flavor. The standout item of the entire meal was the biscuit with honey butter. They initially forgot to bring the honey butter, and I'm very glad we asked for it because it completely made the dish. The biscuit was warm, soft, and by far the most enjoyable thing we ate. Overall, Mama's Café has a cute atmosphere and friendly service despite being understaffed when we visited. However, most of the food felt underseasoned and lacked flavor. If you're looking for a cozy spot to sit and chat, it's worth a visit, but based on this meal, I probably would only come back if someone said it was their favorite restaurant and I try what they order

The second conversation he listened but I could tell he couldn't care less, so I looked for reasons to not to call the Health Inspector and asked him for some??? He told me to call the Managing Partner and kinda laughed then walked off. I saw this place must be owned or Managed-by Texas Roadhouse...... what a shame, this place could be great !! It is NOT. Additional note: Restrooms were filthy and unattended, used paper all over and unattended trash overflowing. I just think this is a sign of poor Management at this location. Maybe some re-training is in order ?? The single bartender was also overwhelmed. Plenty of waitstaff checking phones, group talking where they could have been helping out other areas that needed attention. This is the Culebra and Loop 410 Location.
