I was craving mini street tacos and stumbled across this place. I thought I'd give it a try since it was on my way home. I called my order in for the fajita mini tacos and a child's enchilada plate. They actually have a drive thru which was great. The tacos were actually pretty good. The meat had a great flavor... it was just a little dry. They also come with Charo beans which are delicious. I tried a bit of my daughters food and it was really good. I gave four stars because of the meat. Definitely worth trying if your in the area. read more

I decided to try this place for lunch today after seeing it for years. Really wanted to get the chilaquiles but decided against it since I was ordering Togo. Got the lunch enchilada suizas and was a little apprehensive due to me not being a verde salsa fan. I was absolutely blown TF away!! Those were the best enchiladas I've ever had. The sauce was utterly amazing. The staff were friendly and welcoming, was even offered a complimentary salad while I waited. I will return, probably this week lol. Place is alright. I'm from SW Texas, so it's hard to find places in Houston to compare let alone compete with those Tex-Mex restaurants. Raizes is nice and quaint, the service was amazing, but the food needed some help. First, the tortillas are not homemade. Immediate strike and possibly a crime against humanity in any Mexican restaurant worth its salt. I had a few breakfast tacos: potato, bacon, egg, and cheese, chorizo and egg, and carne guisada. Each left something to be desired. The PBE&C was not mixed together, rather it was pieced together, so the flavors did not meld. The chorizo in the chorizo and egg taco was almost flavorless, and the carne guisada, while tasty, was dry. My wife got taco a la Mexicana and a barbacoa taco, which was not REAL barbacoa (it was braised beef roast, not tongue or cheek). It was tasty but not barbacoa. We also had a couple of aguas. I had an agua de pina that was good but could have been sweeter, and my wife had a lemonada, which was also dying for some sugar. The service was very good and we got some complementary tres leches cake which was obviously homemade and absolutely delicious. I've been here twice for breakfast and have enjoyed my food each time. The breakfast tacos here are legit. They are not stingy with the filling and their green sauce is excellent. For a recent trip here, I got the chicken flautas (you can tell these are hand rolled). Good but I still prefer Lopez's. The flautas come covered in pico and two different types of creamy sauces with Mexican cheese. The sauces were a little excessive for me but the flautas were flavorless without them. I also tried the chilaquiles with egg and liked it more. That plate is gooooood. Coffee here is also divine; it's very strong and smoky. I docked a few stars for slow service and commercial made tortillas. House made tortillas would elevate the food and I was disappointed to see that Raizes' are not. read more

This one stands out to me. It's clean, beautiful atmosphere, the service is fantastic, and the prices are very reasonable. The tacos llave were my favorite thing to try. I should've gotten a picture. They have also offered something complimentary each time I've gone which isn't expected but very appreciated. Last time I was there it was their signature salad while we waited for our order. Such a lovely find with friendly staff and the best tres leches around. My husband loved the Caldo tlalpeño soup - fresh and spicy. I think I ordered the wrong thing. I got the chilaquiles with arrachera since everyone raves. But I'm not a cilantro fan and this was just smothered in green salsa. In my head these were going to be red chilaquiles. But they did accommodate my requests for no onions or sour cream and portions were large. Beans are good. Rice is so so. Price is right. I'm eager to try the mole enchiladas next time! read more

Second time coming here and this time it was to bring a coworker for lunch. The lunch items are a bit pricier for what we typically pay for lunch when we go out, but the food quality makes up for it. I ordered the arrachera enchiladas which aren't on the menu, but they are simply steak fajita enchiladas. For $9.92, you get a soup of the day and your entree which comes with small sides of rice and beans. The soup was like a zucchini bisque, pretty tasty, but not filling. The enchiladas were covered with their green sauce they typically place on the chicken enchiladas, and plate comes with 3 decent sized enchiladas. Everything was delicious and again because of the quality, tastes nothing like you would get at many other tex - mex places around houston. Everything is homemade and you can definitely taste the difference. Our service was excellent this visit, I guess it helps that there was only 1-2 other tables of customers. Strange for a lunch hour, but maybe they mainly get busy during breakfast, not lunch. There is only a limited selection during lunch, so that's my only complaint. read more

Answer: you can sit at any empty table. You can grab a menu at the front counter. I was debating to get the chilaquiles and chicken or the porkchop and eggs. The owner suggested the porkchop and eggs. It was an excellent recommendation, because my taste buds loved it! The porkchop had a nice grilled flavor. It was a little on the tougher side. I had sunny side up with a side of beans and potatoes. The eggs were perfect. The beans were the usual. The seasoning on the potatoes were exceptional. I highly recommend this plate. My friend ordered the chilaquiles and egg. It was a pile of tortillas drizzled with a green chile sauce and a white sauce. The carb load was a little on the heavy side. It tasted pretty good, but she had to stop after a while. We shared a tres leches, which was amazing! This one had a layer of marshmellow fluff. That was unique and it made it extra sweet. Very warm and friendly atmosphere! We visited on a Sunday morning and were greeted with a smiling staff and even the other patrons were welcoming. Our group got a mix of breakfast (waffles, French Toast, huevos rancheros, breakfast tacos) and lunch (Fajita tacos, enchiladas suizas) and everything was wonderful! Started out with a bowl of zucchini soup, which was unique and unexpected, and tasted fantastic! My wife had a salad with very good skirt steak and sautéed vegetables. She raved about the contrasting cooked and raw ingredients, which all combined together for a unique and flavorful salad. I basically had the cooked version of the same flank steak with sautéed vegetables, which were used to make a few tacos with their tasty red and green sauce. So much food, and so much quality at a great price! Only about 30 seats in this place, but you can tell it is run by a real chef. We don't live nearby, but it might be worth moving for this place! Wow I found a gem! I found this place while looking up small businesses to support since so many places are closing. So happy I decided to place a to go order. The food was delicious and the assortments of coffee and beverages are awesome. From the coffees (they have their own coffee beans they sell) to aguas frescas. The verde chicken enchiladas and mole enchiladas were so scrumptious. They even gave us a free cup of coffee and a flan. The flan was soooo good.
