I found this restaurant while looking up reviews on Yelp. It lived up to my expectations. The server was so nice- I told him that we were visiting his restaurant for the first time after seeing such a high Yelp rating. The chicken enchiladas were yummy as was the other dish that my spouse ordered. More than the food, the server was very welcoming & friendly- This makes such a huge difference. Found this local authentic Mexican restaurant that was wonderful. We explained to our waitress of our family allergies (dairy, eggs, peanut, and fish) and he did an excellent job of adhering to them. I even phoned my best friend who's Puerto Rican to chat with the waitress in Spanish to make extra sure that he knew how severe the allergies were. The food was delicious! Fresh! My husband and I had the fish below and our kids had chicken tacos with rice & beans. All very delicious! We had chips and guacamole as an appetizer. Also very very good. Decided to use Uber Eats for a dinner meal from Raizes. Have had the breakfast tacos several times and have always been satisfied. Good food and plenty of it for the price. Dinner however turned into somewhat of a disappointment. Ordered Aristo's plate and Tilipia with avocado. Both dishes were poorly presented, and not appetizing in appearance. Sauces were runny and appeared to be the same on both dishes. Both had a large serving of mixed veggies, probably to make up for the scarcity of the proteins. The owners need to understand that they are judged on several things every time they send a meal out. Appearance is the first thing that somewhat determines how the customer feels about a meal. Next is quantity (value) and these platters were truly lacking in this regard. Then comes taste. I really can't complain as both dishes were palatable. Final review thought - will still stop by occasionally for the breakfast tacos but will not consider Raizes for a dinner stop. Hope you read this and think about my comments a little. read more

Having had good and bad Mexican and Tex Mex all across the Houston area, I wasn't sure what to expect when we came here to grab breakfast one day. People had recommended it as a good option for those looking for breakfast in Stafford, so of course we were going to try it out. The good thing is, this place is a mom and pop establishment, and the quality of service shows. The employees are friendly and make sure you have everything you need. The other pro is that their platters are big. You could probably split some of their entrees given how massive they are. On the flip side, the items themselves are kind of bland. I was less than impressed with the lack of flavor in their huevos rancheros and chilaquiles. On the bright side, they serve all of their entrees with plenty of flavorful (and spicy) salsa. A generous helping of salsa-- more than I'd apply at most other places-- salvaged the dishes. The breakfast tacos are a good size and worth the price, but once again, a bit lacking in flavor without the addition of a lot of salsa. I think the main knock had to be the "sausage" they use, which was some kind of hot dog or cocktail weenie that no restaurant should ever put in a taco or breakfast plate. Overall, this place isn't bad, the vibe is cool, and the salsa salvages a lot of the dishes. I'll definitely be back to try out some of their other offerings. read more

I'll start with the good, before the entire City of Stafford comes looking for me with pitchforks on flame throwers. This place has hands down some of the best customer service you will ever receive, like no doubt, the people that run this place care about your experience here. Even though my order was to-go, I watched as one of the owners/managers walked around making sure everyone was happy with their order and taking phone calls like a champ. I don't think he sat down the entire time I was there waiting for my order. That being said...the food was okay to meh. Now if you ask local Stafford folks, they will tell you they are the best tacos in all of Stafford. And maybe they are... But the best tacos ever? Obviously, they haven't had delicious tacos from the East End, from small little businesses. Those tacos are the stuff of dreams. These tacos are "sausage tacos" which is really code for hotdogs with eggs. Eww. Everything else we ordered was just okay, nothing else to it. I mean, when you have amazing food from the East End or even from local places in and around Houston, you get high taco expectations. This place didn't meet those high expectations and maybe because people talked it up so much, I was disappointed with the ordinary to meh tacos. I don't think anything we ordered stood out. I know we talked about trying to order from there again, to give it another shot, but for now, I'm gonna say this isn't a high priority place for me to revisit. Hey, people in Stafford seem to love it and the owners are nice, which is a plus, so why not. But if you really want some awesome tacos, I'm telling you the East End has amazing tacos. We tried this place this morning based on other yelpers. The great things - fajita nacho app was amazing, flavorful and great flavors and textures. I ordered a potato and egg taco and bean and bacon (not on menu) they made for me. The beans were fantastic and bacon was the perfect thickness and crispness. Didn't care for the potato and egg, potato more fried than classic prepared to me and the eggs seemed dry. Tortillas are good but not homemade from what I could tell. Service was a bit lacking for us but it was busy and there was only one server attending the front. Would visit again - indoor and outdoor seating available. read more

If you are in Texas and want breakfast, you obviously find the obvious - tex-mex hole in the wall in a Houston suburb, lol. That is exactly what we did after we got our fill of Indian stuff at the Indian temple! I had the chilaquiles with eggs and the dish was delicious. I forgot to ask them to take off the beans, but Rags devoured them off my plate, so no harm done! The sauce on my dish had a charred pepper flavor that I really loved. Rags has the Suizas Enchilladas and really loved his dish. This came doused with 2 different sauces and the green one was SO good. Rags pronounced their tres leches (yes, for breakfast), the best he has ever had - trust me he knows his tres leches, lol. My boyfriend went here recently with his family and kept telling me how good it was, so we decided to stop by today since we were in the area. This is a small cute restaurant/cafe, where you seat yourself. The server, who I believe is the owner, quickly took our drink orders and gave us some time to look at the menu. We each decided to get coffee, and we both ordered huevos rancheros con arrachera. The coffee came first of course, which was perfect; the coffee has a nice flavor and is very smooth. While we were waiting for our food, the owner brought us some bowls of soup (I think he was testing out new items and wanted to get feedback.) After asking, I found out the soup was carrot soup, which included fried tortilla pieces; I loved it, so hopefully it'll be added to the menu. Following the soup, our entrees came out. Each plate included the eggs with arrachera with salsa, which layed on top of two tortillas; the plate also came with beans and rice. The eggs were perfectly runny, and everything on the plate was delicious and super filling! To end our meal, we each had another cup of coffee and to our surprise had another sample to try, this time it was tres leches, which like everything else, was delicious. Not what I was expecting for Mexican foot. The environment was also not it. They had a small outdoor seeing the street, but they had chairs from the school that were super uncomfortable. The food was alright, there was no "wow" factor. The price was average, but unfortunately I do not recommend. Just a small store front off the beaten path!! Perfectly nice and clean and what great service and delicious food. My wife and I brought our 93 year old uncle here for breakfast after a long morning of doctors appointments for him. The pork chops were so awesome my old uncle didn't bother cutting them up, he picked them up and devoured them like a crazy man. The tortillas were homemade and the eggs were cooked to perfection. Holy cow this place was SENSATIONAL! Stumbled across this place looking for Hispanic restaurants to try on Yelp and saw that this place had so many good reviews so we thought, "why not?" And we are sure glad we decided to come here! The exterior leaves a lot to long for, situated in the corner of a run-down small strip mall and the parking lot is pretty old and in need of repair. Inside the restaurant is a little small and difficult to find seating if the place starts to get packed and if you want to socially distance. If you do get to a chance to eat dine-in vs carry-out the food here is so flavorful and tasty. Each dish came with a side salad topped with avocado ranch dressing. The salad is nothing fancy but the dressing was nice. I had the chicken flautas and they were topped with heaps of pico de gallo, sour cream, and guac. The chicken was dry, but savory and so flavorful and in addition to the toppings, this dish did not leave you hanging. The fried tortillas were crispy and did not taste of grease which was really impressive. My fiance had the beef quesadilla and this was not your average quesadilla. The beef was so tender and so juicy. This dish also came with its own healthy portions of sides as well. Our waiter brought up little containers of hot sauces that we tried. There was your typical red hot sauce which had a good kick, salsa verde which was more tangy than spicy, and an orange mango habanero salsa. The mango habanero was so spicy as we were warned, but SO good. Seriously so addicting even if you're a wimp like us and can't handle anything more than a medium, this hot sauce was clearly a hot++. We even got a complementary tres leches cake that was a great way to finish our meal. Our waiter offered each of us a slice, but we convinced him we just wanted one as we were both pretty stuffed (we cleared our plates!), but he was so kind that he tried to get us each our individual slices so we could enjoy our own desserts lol. He gave us the option of a vanilla or chocolate tres leches and we opted for the vanilla. The cake was SO moist and not too sweet. Seriously, the service and food were phenomenal. The price was so reasonable for all that we got (side salad AND free dessert??). This is a mom-and-pop place and too good to pass up. Even if this location may be out of the way, I highly recommend stopping by at least just once to try out. read more

I met some of my close friends recently here for brunch. I had glanced at their menu prior to arriving and kind of had an idea of what I wanted to eat. Raizes Mexican Kitchen are known for their famous Chilaquiles with Arrachera (beef), and few of the yelpies did order them. And before you know it, their plates were empty. With the spirit of brunch flowing thru my veins, I decided to order chicken and waffles. My waffle was a big Belgian style sprinkled with powdered sugar and it was accompanied by 4 chicken strips/tenders. My chicken strips were golden, crispy fried, and seasoned very well. It was a perfect compliment to the waffle, which itself was soft and warm and absolutely delicious. The venue itself is relatively smaller in size. Our service was great. Got our refills on time, servers were attentive and kept checking up on us. While I wanted to really try the Chilaquiles, I'll just have to order it the next time I dine at Raizes. read more

Pleasantly surprised that it began with a cilantro lime sauced salad of romaine. The flautas were perfectly fried with large pieces of grilled chicken inside. Topped with lettuce, pico de Gallo, and a spicy cream sauce along with queso fresco. My husbands enchiladas were loaded with beef carne asada and topped with crema. I settled upon the Huevos a la Mexicana Breakfast Plate & added chicken. Also added a Baja Fish Taco, for later (lunch). The place is small (end unit of strip mall) but big in color and hospitality. The orange paint and decor was nice, very inviting from outside! Immediately greeted upon entering, good people/good vibes. My order was ready for me, ahead of time. This place surprised me in more than one way. Located in small plaza strip. Parking after noon time can be limited. The inside offers a few tables here and there. We were able to get a table for 10 people reserved. The table was ready to go upon our arrival. The man taking our orders were attentive and gave us plenty of time for the rest of our party to arrive before ordering. The menu was simple. Tacos, breakfast plates, sandwiches, and drinks were display on the menu. For some of us who didn't speak Spanish, it was a bit difficult to understand what was in the food. Some food name was in Spanish and there was no translation on the bottom. I ordered the potato with chorizo, and eggs and beef tacos. Both tacos were filled up nicely. The beef was tender and came in huge portion. They also gave me a hot red and green salsa. Warning that it can be a bit spicy. I mixed both salsas on my tacos and although it was spicy, it added even more flavors on the tacos. The potatoes came in huge chunks, overflowing the taco. Two tacos were more than enough to fill me up. Prices here were inexpensive with a great portion. My entire party enjoy everything that they order. On their beverage menu, they serve Vietnamese coffee and Thai iced tea. I was surprised and skeptical after seeing these selection at a Mexican restaurant. I played it safe and got their white mocha. It came out in a to-go cup, super hot. The taste was nothing surprising, your typical white mocha but still delicious. Overall, I enjoy the ambience of this homey brunch place. I came here with a bunch of friends on a rainy Saturday afternoon. By the time I arrived here, the majority of my friends had shown up and placed their order. I sat down, and nobody came to ask to offer a menu, or to ask if I wanted something to drink. After sitting a while, a staff member came to deliver the meals that had been ordered and swiftly left right after, not giving me a chance to place my order. A bit after that a couple more people showed up and minutes after that, a staff member came and asked if we were ready to order. Like, seriously? I just said, "Could I have a couple more menu?" After looking at what everybody had ordered and looking at the menu, I decided to order the Chilaquiles with Arrachera and to sub the beans with rice along with some lemonade. The kitchen was on top of their game because it didn't take long for them to prepare the food. Food was fresh, portion was pretty big, and it was pretty damn tasty. For the price they're charging ($10.99 + tax), you get plenty of food. Prior to the food coming out, they had brought out three glasses of water for me and the two other guys that showed up late. But I noticed that the only time the waiter came to our table was to take order, bring water, and bring food out. Not one time during my whole dining experience there had anyone come out to check if I needed more water, or just to see how we were doing. We were only able to ask for anything if we were to flag someone down, or when they were bringing something to the table. Would I come back? Maybe. This place is kind of out of the way for me, but if there are people who want to get food here, I'd definitely join them. The food is pretty tasty after all. Was looking around the area to have Mexican food. This one rated pretty well. Not overly impressed but it wasn't bad. You're in Houston--but you don't offer complimentary chips and salsa. Disappointingly uncommon. Barbacoa is NOT completely barbacoa. They mix it with chuck roast or some other non-cheek meat. You can tell because it is much drier, where actual barbacoa is much more tender and softer as well as a bit fattier. I guess because we looked different, maybe we seemed like we wouldn't really know. That was the most disappointing thing. Also. The restaurant has a beverage dispenser but they only sell cans and bottles. Kind of a letdown. Service was fine. Staff were nice and accommodating. But not sure I would return. read more

Their tacos are pretty good. The Barbacoa was not your typical street flavor , it was seasoned differently , yet tasted good and very tender. The carnitas was flavorful, a bit dry for me though.
