First time having thali so don't know how much cred that lends my review. Everything was delicious and the servers were very attentive and patient with us newbies. Luckily we also had friends in our group who told us to get extra puri when they brought around the tray. Only one thing was a bit on the spicy side for me, but I still finished it (pakora?). It was odd for me that the rice arrived towards the latter half of the meal, but I enjoyed eating the puri with the different dishes. We sat out on the patio which was really nice for a Sunday lunch. The traffic noise below wasn't noticeable and we were sitting in the shaded area (depending on the time of day you might get some sun in your face). The cool thing about the meal was it was filling, but not in a heavy way. It was a really enjoyable vegetarian experience for this non-vegetarian. Came here with our Indian friend to experience this Indian food. I enjoyed the food. We had to wait for maybe 10-15 minutes which wasnt bad. They kept coming to serve the food to us, they were somewhat slow when we would ask something, it took quite some time until they would bring it back. Bathroom could be a bit cleaner in my opinion. We sat outside. Its all vegetarian. Some were spicy, some were better than others. I still recommend it. their dessert was suppppper good!! if you get all that you can eat, it comes with the dessert. Wow all you can eat sit down buffet which is served to you at your table . Hot , fresh and tasty . Reminded me old party time in India where you sit down and various people bring various dishes and you eat till you can get up. Loved it . They two different option mini thali which is the same menu but no second and then the regular thali which is unlimited supply . And it is a Vegetarian Resturant. I loved it and ate way too much but no regrets . If I am in the area again I sure will be thinking about going to this place . Just had lunch at Rajdhani this afternoon! In thali no food in the plate served until first 10 mins. Every item was served in long breaks which resulted in cold food! They ran out of food in middle of meal time.... No water was served throughout.... One of the worst meal experiences..... rude server..... cherry on the top.... It only took me 10 years for me to come back, but when I did I had a newfound appreciation, as I now tend to eat more vegetarian fare than ever. The depth and breadth of the flavors here are incredible, and I always leave way too stuffed. They change things up quite a bit as well, so you're not always eating the same stuff. This is truly one of hardest reviews to write but I feel compelled to do it. This place WOULD be incredible, and perhaps still could be, except for one thing. I will explain: I took a very beautiful expatriate Bollywood actress and cricket commentator to this place for dinner here, whose name means "the treasure of the king," and while we enjoyed the food and service, on the way home we noticed a gastric uneasiness, a certain sleazy queasiness. She confessed to me later that she had a "tummy ache" that night, as did I. Well, eh, maybe just an off day. I recently went back by myself and sat down to enjoy one of their freshly-cooked and served all-you-can-eat thalis. As the server placed two fritters (I don't know the Gujarati name for these, sorry) on my platter glistening with oil, something occurred to me. Is this (gulp!) what I think it is? I asked, and sure enough, it was the dreaded canola oil. I explained to the maitre d' that I won't eat food with that noxious sludge ingredient, and he concurred, adding that all the curries, etc., have that in it. He graciously relieved me of my obligation to stay/pay and even sweetly offered to let me gulp down some more of their tasty chaas (yogurt drink). I have been to restaurants in India that are similar to the service model here. They are quite a spectacle, but i highly doubt they are using canola oil. So sad. Many people I know report that they feel sick after eating foods fried in canola oil. I love this place except for this unfortunate gaffe. If it weren't for the oil thing I would give five stars without hesitation. But you deserve to know. I hope they change soon. read more

Where do I begin! As a vegan, I am sometimes apprehensive about the food I eat, but I did not have such concerns here! Firstly, I mentioned to the team that I was a vegan and they made sure to only provide me vegan options with the thali. If they weren't sure if an item was vegan, they would double check. Delicious AYCE Gujarati Thali food that'll leave you feeling super satisfied. I believe you don't have to choose the AYCE option but most people are there to eat as much as they can and it's certainly the one with the most worth! At the end of the meal you get to pick one of five desserts, you can't go wrong with any of them so just pick whichever one sounds most appetizing at the moment. This has to be one of my favorite Gujarati Thali places. I am not the biggest fan of the flavors, but I can tell that it is of quality and are still pretty tasty. You have to keep requesting for each item that you initially receive for the unlimited option. I got daal, which honestly felt like sambar as it was spiced that way and a little on the sweet side, but still alright. There was a lima bean curry, a chilli curry, and an okra curry which all tasted good with the poori, roti, and the rice. I was the biggest fan of their roti as it was just a little stretchy but light. The poori was on the oily side but it was nice and fluffy. I also got kadhi, but that really didn't taste like much and I had better kadhi elsewhere. The gulab jamun was nice and soft, maybe a bit too sweet, but it was a nice finish to the meal. They kept refilling the glasses with chaas, which also didn't taste like much but it was alright. It is definitely a place I would visit again and try their other variations of curries as it changes daily. I would give it to them for the quality of their dishes! read more

AYCE!!! Not a buffet but definitely a banquet. There's no menu. Everyone gets a metal platter with small bowls..and the servers come around and ladle something delicious into the small bowls on the platter. The delicious roti, the fried chapati bread...you use a metal spoon to put dollops onto the bread...some things are spicy, some are not...vegetarian vegan food ftom the Gurjarati...fun to try everything. Do you know what a Thali is? It literally translates to 'Plate' in many Indian languages (Hindi, Gujarati, etc.). Rajdhani serves Gujarati Thalis. So, you start with a huge empty stainless steel plate, with several tiny bowls on the plate. Servers keep coming to your table and fill up your Thali with deliciousness. Rajdhani is pure vegetarian place. There were two kinds of spicy soups (Sambar and Kadhi), two kinds of vegetable dishes, lentils, flat bread (Roti), fried flat bread (Puri), two kinds of rice, and a few other items. The food was generally okay, but some of the items were a little to spicy for my palate. You also get to choose one of five dessert options. I'd recommend the Shrikhand. It is like a flavored beaten yoghurt. The best part was getting the finger bowls. Traditionally, you eat Indian food with your fingers. Back in the days in India, in moderately high-end places, you'd get finger bowls (with some warm water and a slice of lemon) to wash your fingers at the end of your meals. We tried their unlimited Thali - since we didn't plan dinner we didn't go on an empty stomach (which is our mistake). The options were good. In the dal and kadhi I can do without sugar. Having moved to LA area I thought of giving this place a try because of Gujarat Thali which is unlimited food and typically in India they have a lot of servers constantly serving and bringing food to you. Let me first start by ambiance. For an upscale place or place charging $29 / thali, this place will disappoint. Parking lot and the building seem old and unplanned. Parking lot and stairs are dirty and smell of stale food. If you are bringing some guest to eat at fancy place this will not give you that vibe. Once you are inside it is decent but not new or clean. Bathrooms are also dirty and not what you expect from a restaurant of this scale and price they charge per person. Ignoring the ambiance and reviewing the food, I would give it 2 stars. We ordered 1 unlimited thali, 1 limited thali which is $19 and one Amras dish which was $9. First starting with Amras it was Mango pulp from tin that you get at stores. Considering this is a sit down restaurant charging a lot was not expecting tin can items to be poured on a small bowl and be served as such. It was also cold confirming this and no fresh mango pieces or pulpin ras. Photo is attached of this. The quantity was so small for $9 that would not order this as tin mango pulp is cheap and we did not come to restaurant to eat tin can food but served in a nice fancy steel bowl. Now coming to mini thali it is good for anyone wanting variety but still lacked few items that you get in unlimited thali. For unlimited thali food some items were good but others were standard and not worth $29. The amount of items is more like 3 vegetables but being a Gujarati you know these items are cheap and not worth a lot. They also gave puri and roti fresh which was good but will talk about service in third section. Also being unlimited thali I thought to order shrikhand but found out dessert is complimentary and can be ordered once. The dessert they gave was so small in quantity like one gulab jambun or one small bowl of shrikhand that it would not make you satisfied. In India if you go to any unlimited Thali restaurant they served unlimited dessert as well and considering the price of $29/ person I had the impression I was getting such thali but that is not the case so be mindful its unlimited for cheap items and the real good stuff is served once and in small quantity. Now to the service, being a thali place you expect good service as each person in India just have one task of serving one item to everyone constantly so you never wait for anything. Think of Buffet where it is unlimited but here because people serve you, you might have to wait for them to come to you. Here I felt I was waiting a lot to get served maybe because we arrived early like 6pm and majority of people were wiping dished when we came in. But even either that they would serve very limited and you would feel bad asking them for more. At least in Buffet you dont get such guilt when taking more as you can self serve. When it came to dessert no one told us it was complimentary and one time only. I had shrikhand quickly and thought of eating more with puri but then was left with puri and no shrikhand to eat with. Service was maybe 3 out of 5 due to slow service and having to wait for them to serve items they have. I would rather get up and get my food rather than wait to be served. To anyone considering this for small or large group would not recommend as it is expensive and a standard Indian Buffet would be cheaper similar quality in food. Lack of variety of desserts and also getting one small dessert for unlimited thali also seems wrong and totally not worth it. Up on the second floor presumably to be a gateway to heaven since the food is heavenly here. Heavenly and NOT ENDING. You begin your journey with water and a yogurt drink (which is tart and not sweet but it helps if you are sensitive to spice in foods). Our waiter brought out a yogurt soup and a lentil soup and both were souper (heh) good. Lentil won this round. It was slightly spicy with a really good herb flavor. I would have been happy with that and bread... which then made its appearance. Three breads! Three! One was a flat bread, the other the crunchy chiplike, and the last one was a puffy fried bread. And now that I'm thinking back there were two more breads: one was a sponge poppy seed bread that was used to sop up the liquids from the dishes and the other was a patty type bread that was also fried (the texture was almost like a ground chickpea). Five breads! Whew. Yeah. We haven't even gotten to entrees. The three they had when we were there were stewed vegetables, lentils, and potatoes spiced with just about every spice on earth. The flavor was absolutely amazing. I had a whole cinnamon stick in my potatoes. YUM. All is vegetarian as well. Dessert is included if you can cram any more food in your food hole. One of the best things about living in L.A. is being a tourist. A friend organized a group of us to go to the afternoon "buffet". Quite honestly, I'm not a fan of buffets. The thought of standing in a line holding a plate to get a scoop of large portions of food sitting chafing dishes leaves me feeling a bit chafed. Not a pleasant experience.... HOWEVER, this isn't your feed the masses kind of buffet... it's more of a prix fixe menu. For $21 fresh piping hot food is delivered by friendly servers who place dollops of deliciousness in the stainless steel bowls on your platter. There's a variety of breads, vegetarian and vegan dishes. Pitchers of water and a savory salty lassi drink are placed on the table (I didn't care for the salty yogurt drink, but my friend said after the second sip she really enjoyed it). I did have a hot masala tea that was quite refreshing after the long drive down from L.A. Dessert was included and it filled in any possible gaps that were left in our tummy. Note, wear your favorite kurta and stretchy pants so you can enjoy to your heart's content. The servers will give you as many refills of any dish you desire... one serving of each is enough, but it's so tasty, that you may go for seconds.. hence the need for stretchy pants!
