You get a physical menu which is everything already in the tablet but easier to see. I think the price for what you can get is a great deal. I came here for a friend's birthday so I would start off with a preface that we were a semi large party. We were seated with several other fairly large tables, so one would assume that the restaurant would be able to handle large parties. Unfortunately, it did not seem to be the case. This restaurant has waiters to help with certain orders. A buffet style area where you can get drinks, desserts, and some salad items. The majority of the ordering occurs on an iPad system. There's no clear distinction on this iPad for who orders what. So when you are in a large group, they put all the rolls together on giant plates and just bring it out to the table. Unfortunately the waiters are no help in identifying what rolls are what, which was a little frustrating as we had one person with a shellfish allergy. We had to really look at the rolls, some of which were deep fried and covered in sauces to try and figure out if there was shrimp in it. Additionally, the mass ordering understandably overwhelms the sushi chefs who don't always complete all the orders. Specifically, we were waiting on different rolls that just never came out. We followed up many times and were told "the kitchen is backed up they're working on it." After awhile, we were advised to just reorder the rolls we were looking for. The food was not bad but the dining experience itself was very messy and convoluted. Also the bathrooms were gross, and I don't know why but for me there's always a specific ick factor for gross bathrooms and sushi places because i can only assume the sushi chefs are using the same bathrooms that we see. Our server, Leo, was fantastic and ensured our large party had a great experience! He was very proactive about asking if we wanted to get some sashimi/nigiri going since we were waiting on the rest of our party - and it came out in perfect time as the rest of our party arrived! It was plated beautifully and made for a great start. The rest of the time we were able to order whatever we wanted through the ipads - I love ordering AYCE on ipads because people can just order whatever they want, pass the ipad, and repeat without having to flag a server down. All our food came out in a timely manner and tasted fresh! My only critique is that on the rolls they tend to put unagi sauce and spicy mayo on everything, so the flavor profiles started to get a little old towards the end. The tuna sashimi was also quite fishy in my opinion. Leo was also very attentive with clearing out empty plates. For $32.99 (dinner and weekends), this place absolutely understood the assignment. Just a heads up: if you're ordering any of the "one-order-per-person" items, tell the waiter, not the iPad. The iPad is clearly not emotionally prepared for responsibility. The sushi boat has a 5-person minimum, but after some light negotiation, we successfully counted our infant as guest #5. Teamwork makes the dream work. Not pictured: More rolls, more hibachi, delicious fried rice, baby octopus (1-per-person and excellent), conch sashimi (also 1-per-person and also excellent), desserts, and drinks. Snow crab legs are also one per person but tasted good with good meat quality. What's Good: * The limited items are legit and honestly could fill most people up on their own. * Solid rice-to-protein ratio in nigiri and rolls. No "here's a rice brick with a whisper of fish" nonsense. * A rotating fruit lineup that felt like a global tour: rambutan, Korean melon (chamae), golden kiwi, star fruit and then just whole bananas. Haha * I'm not really a roll person, but everything looked good. * Any AYCE spot that includes spider rolls (soft shell crab) automatically earns 2 thumbs up. * Not a fan of eel but the offering was delicious Service was also spot on. Raku sushi hibachi is not like your typical buffet. Instead of having everything on the hot/cold bar items are made to order. Customers order via tablet, the kitchen receives the order and makes the food, and the server delivers it to your table. When placing the first order that begins a 90 minute countdown where you may order your fill. If you've been to some of the newer AYCE places in the area you're familiar with the setup. The host will give you a physical menu to look at when you first arrive and are seated. The server will bring a tablet to the table which is better since almost every dish has a picture unlike the printed menu. Most everything you can order an unlimited quantity. There is a section of the menu where the more exotic items are limited to one per person per visit. I ordered mostly nigiri and hand rolls. When you have AYCE you don't want to waste the time or room on salads, fruit, etc. When I walked past the bar I decided everything there was a waste so I didn't inspect how fresh it was or if they let the ice levels get too low for the cold items as another reviewer noted. The hand rolls are absolutely huge. The way the order and delivery system operates makes hand rolls a lot better than many other places. When it reaches your table the seaweed wrap is still crunchy if you eat it immediately. I've only had this experience at omakase where the chef toasts the seaweed, makes the roll, and hands it to you. The mackerel was fresh and juicy. It was not soaked in vinegar and dried out as you would find with supermarket sushi. Overall I like the system for a sitdown restaurant. Volcano sushi next door is still one of the best take out places in the area. The AYCE concept means that inventory is constantly turning over and the food is fresh. Since everything is made to order you don't have to rely on the restaurant being busy to keep everything on the hot/cold bar refreshed. The prices are reasonable compared to the other giant buffet place on Pleasant Hill which is $10 more. If you're in the mood for sushi Raku is a much better value. It's easier to get to break even vs. going to a different place and ordering nigiri or sashimi ala carte. Value, atmosphere, and service make Raku standout and a worthwhile place to visit. read more

There's a new AYCE sushi & hibachi spot in town, and it's definitely worth checking out! I recently visited Raku Sushi in Duluth and had a great experience overall. They offer all-you-can-eat at a really solid price -- $32.99 for dinner and $21.99 for lunch, which is hard to beat for the variety you get. The interior is modern and nicely decorated, making it a comfortable spot for both casual outings and group dining. I loved that they have tons of options. I don't know what it is about this particular location where Raku now resides but there have been 4 different iterations from a seafood boil joint to KBBQ/hot pot place, to a I believe was either the Chubby Cattle or a CowWow KBBQ to now an AYCE Sushi spot. Let's start with the interior. Nothing much changed in terms of the interior. Booth seating. They covered the former tables that had the tabletop heating spots. They added the wall based fog machines to give it a new ambiance. The service. It's shoddy. As nice and as professional as they were, promptness and checking on your patrons is a must and my server didn't do that. So let's talk food... You order off a tablet. They setup the tablet to your table, and then you pick and choose whatever you want for the simple dinner price of $32.99+tax and tip. It's all things all you can eat sushi plus an included hibachi option as well. It's sushi/sashimi. Not omekase grade sushi but tolerable for consumption. NO fishy smell which is great! But it's all you can eat sushi which means it's not good grade sushi. The plates they use to serve your orders is pretty cool. A mix of traditional wood platforms to these stone bowls decorated with a veggie mix. They also have ramen, udon, and fried rice on top of karaage, yakitori, and of course the fried rice. Unfortunately, he karaage is stringy and rubbery. The beef yakitori come in 3 1x1x1 in cube of beef on a skewer which turned out dry and disappointing. The ramen broth was flavorful but a bit lite and not as rich as what tonkatsu ramen ought to taste like. The chashu was a big let down as it wasn't done in a way that accentuates the ramen. It just looked like a thin boiled sheet of bacon. The only redeeming quality of the ramen besides the noodles being al dente was their soft boiled egg which, for whatever reason also broke apart on me while trying to eat it. Also, I would encourage you to also stay away from the sides. The kimchi was horrid, the radishes pickled in soy sauce was also horrendous, they didn't have a large selection of whatever they offered at their bar other than the kimchi, pickled radish, some clams and other assortment of fillers. So yes, stay away from the kimchi and the side bar unless you're feeling a smoothie drink or some dessert items. Overall, it's not bad for the price and the location. It's more than like, for me, it's not worth throwing $33 and 90 minutes of your night going to this place because the quality of the service and the fact that the food was lackluster makes this kind of a one stop deal. A decent AYCE sushi experience but that's just it, a one stop shop. It does offer a good competitor with one that I know where they do the same thing. read more

The hot foot area included crab legs, snail, clams, and more but the food was room temp. There was an area with bottled drinks such as teas, soda, and flavored sparkling water. The rolls tasted like ones you would find at the grocery store. The raw fish in the rolls tasted dry and flavorless. The masago had a dish soap taste to it and we brought it up to the manager. This is a great local place. We go here all the time. Food is a great price for what you can get and the quality is way above the revolving places (fresher too). Some of the prior reviews are out and out wrong. If you are paying for all you can eat prices that is the grade of sushi that is expected. The servings are small as it is all you can eat (expected as you just order more) and the service has always been great for us. Parking is good and easy to get in and out of. ........ let's just say, PICTURES ARE DECEIVING. Don't always trust influencers... and bought reviews. I came to dine in on a Thursday evening 5pm, there was no snow crab legs. The bar area where you self serve is very underwhelming and disappointing. A whole section is just "GUMMIES" dried up sour candy as a dessert option. Cut up fruit, pre-made cakes, powder boba to make you full. As for the AYCE from the iPad, the quality of the fish is very MID. It's not the right temperature, warm actually. I prefer my raw fish to be a little cold. Baked mussels, was just drowned in eel sauce & spicy Mayo. Yakitori quail eggs were just BOILED topped with eel sauce. It also took quite some time for the food we ordered from the iPad to come out. Server was good, friendly & attentive. Ambiance, wasn't really the cleanest. The ceiling was dripping water down to the floor, and the plates had dust and lint on them.. I usually do not ever want to give 1 star BUT I have too. They definitely need improvement for $33 a person. Duluth has soo many better options where you can spend your money at.. I probably will not be coming back here, not even hungry. The food was actually pretty mid. Not worth the $32.99 for dinner at all, I came here with an empty stomach ready to eat and I was met with disappointment. The chicken from the hibachi looked oddly suspicious? and the beef was super hard. I couldn't even swallow it. The service was very sad as it took almost 30 mins for our food to come out and took our waiter forever to come and bring our check. We had to ask 2 different waitresses and had told us repeatedly that our waiter was on his way. One of the waitresses had to call him over as they couldn't even find him at all. (crossposting here because i know they can delete google reviews. this is not a "review". it is more of a fraud PSA) I have never left a restaurant a poor review like this (I like to think everyone is doing their best) but for this I am making an exception because this place is a COMPLETE SCAM. Unless you are an influencer they pay for content. We went and did not receive a single item that *we ordered* and we were there for 2 hours. The wait was so long due to a "printer issue" (which if you read previous reviews for this place seems to happen very very often. Very very convenient for a place with a time limit to have this issue happen so often.....). After 1.5 hours of waiting we finally got food but it was nothing we ordered (frankly it looked like a deep fried dish towel. it definitely was not fish). Also during this wait an older busboy kept coming to our table to bus dishes and ask us if we were ready to leave. We obviously had no dishes so it just felt like they wanted us gone as soon as possible. We got up and tried to explain it to them that they gave us the wrong things (and hopefully get what we ordered) but they just looked confused and like they didn't understand what we were saying. At that point we just gave up and paid and left and left the food on the table. Horrible. Again I would never leave a restaurant a poor review. I have worked in many and it is tough work. But this place is not operating a restaurant- it is a dine-in scam being propped up by paid social media reviews.
